I've had my 2023 and it's been an excellent vehicle, have taken it on long distance road trips and it does really great with range, I went with a RWD SEL for more range for me personally, driven it in the snow and icy mountain passes with no issues, easily recommend this over a Model 3
Got the 2024 Ioniq 6 SEL AWD and love it. It’s a great drive, fast charge, the style grew on me (my wife loved in day 1), great interior, 20” rims. I love it’s different than everything else on the road
my buddy got KIA EV and was trying to get rid of it. KIA dealer said $10,000. dude bought it for $60,000 2 years ago. Hyundai KIA EVs worth nothing after 2 years.
I actually LOVE the look of this car! Oh, by the way, in your acceleration test you still had it on Eco mode. Put that sucker in Sport mode and spot the difference! [edit - whoops you're actually in Normal mode, not Eco - my comment doesn't really change though. There's a very noticeable jump in performance when you put it in Sport. Cheers]
Just purchased the 2024 Ionic 6 (for me) and a 2024 Ionic 5 (for my husband). We LOVE this vehicle. Have absolutely NO issues. Would definitely recommend this vehicle over the tesla model 3.
Guys, this video meant a lot to me because it was back giving an objective and positive view of Hyundai after your experience with the Santa Fe. I believe that someday Hyundai too will have to give up on the DCT transmission as it's obviously a very tough implementation to master and not really their specialty. But you guys had a lot of good things to say about Hyundai here which was cool. I ended up buying a used Pacifica hybrid and am very pleased. More research after commenting in a video back a ways led me to better understand some the things that have gone wrong but also the great fixes Chyrsler has implemented to help; and the actual HV battery is much more reliable than I thought. Keep up the great work guys! 🙂
They should buy Lucid and brand it into Genesis. Their packaging is so very impressive. Lowest drag coefficient, good looks, massive frunk, class leading trunk, large interior, massive range, etc. Everything genesis could have! Amazing.
I feel like cars are being designed by tech-focused apartment dwellers that don't own personal vehicles. As a tall guy, that windowsill is my armrest. Hard plastic? Come on. Even the cheapest economy cars have soft touch there now. And the heated seats, requiring a button on the dash then repeated presses on the touch screen to get to max? This requires 1 button in virtually every other car. Who gives a hoot about RGB lighting when they can't even make a car that's enjoyable to use. Hyundai is usually ahead of the curve on driver convenience and comfort. This is a massive step back for them. But thank goodness that awful drive noise is optional. That is horrific. What on Earth were they thinking??
@@brokeboy87true but also electrify American doesn’t have much reliable charger either. Freakin Tesla supercharger are still reliable. too bad the charger is broken!! No one should be buying any hyundai or KIA EV until they fix that. Class action lawsuit in the works. Stay away from these korean EVs, even genesis
Love the styling & the red color as I would easily pick this over a Model 3 since I see those cars literally every few seconds especially here in SoCal. I sat in a Ioniq 6 at the LA auto show last year & was impressed with it, with plenty of room up front & in back, much more than my current 2016 Lexus GS350 F-Sport which is a slightly bigger car. This has been my favorite EV so far & would buy one if I bought an EV right now, maybe in the future, but want a hybrid first.
The design of the new model 3 Highland it’s much much nicer. Plus Tesla’s charging network is reliable and simple to use. I would much rather drive a Tesla.
You need to take a MUCH deeper/longer look at the UI technology, eg infotainment and GPS/navigation/maps onscreen... the motor/battery tech etc in Hyundai/Kia are right up there w/ the best, but... the MAPS,... stink. They are horribly clunky, tiny screens, way too many dumb multiple confirmation button presses before you do anything, text-heavy w/ wasted screen space.. and only last year, did they even add automatic charger stop planning in the nav trip planner!! You had to use your phone apps!! eg, typical low-tech/old automotive GPS design. It is the SAME as their gas cars. Feels like 2000, not 2024. HORRIBLE. THAT, is NOT better to live with than Tesla. NOBODY beats Tesla's maps... *maybe* Waze, but that's it. Rivian is a close second (they are a few years behind rest of tech features too, but catching up.) Ford is... third? I haven't even tried VW or GM... roadtrip route & charge planning, or just finding nearest charger easily on a map, is *critically* important for EVs, and needs to be reviewed better. Software and UI doesn't get addressed much by reviewers, except to typically diss "too much touchscreen/no buttons, bad" (which has some truth, but when everything on that touchscreen is so frictionless and works in 1-3 button presses or by voice,..) Current EVs are computers on wheels. As such you need to review how good the computer UI is. They all drive pretty well, accelerate quickly and quietly...
This might sound dumb but I actually considered getting one of these but the fact that it still uses the old infotainment system is a deal breaker for me. They give it to the Kona but not the ioniq? What’s that about?
THIS. I looked at one w/ brand new owner at a show, and... it took EIGHTEEN button presses to try and navigate a trip, and it still didn't auto add chargers correctly... I think he didn't have "connected navigation" set up correctly, but.. why? Shouldn't that be enabled by default, if so critical?? Even on another video I checked later, w/ easier voice navigation that did add charge stops ok,.. the UI was still horribly outdated, very clunk automotive GPS style. Not Google Maps on full screen like Tesla. Was exactly same as ICE Santa Fe we rented on a road trip... ugh
I like a frunk, but on the flipside, the Hyundai/Kia vehicles have really short front ends instead of more traditional hoods. You get more usable car, especially interior space, as a trade-off.
Did I understand correctly that you said you cannot get heated rear seats on this model ? Because as far as I see on the website, the "balance" kit includes heated rear seats.
It has a " realistic feeling leatherette". High praise indeed in the EV world. Major congrats to Hyundai for creating a "vegan leather" alternative that feels realistic. Now let's work on a vegan alternative that smells like a real hide and has the durability of a quality animal hide and the ALL the properties of a premium Nappa leather and then they'll have the the ultimate. Btw, I'm not holding my breath.
Ever heard of the Infiniti J30? Hyundai may receive a lawsuit from Renault in the mail in a few weeks. Lol. Just kidding, but I will say it seems like every new Hyundai, Kia, or Genesis is just their version of something that’s already existed somewhere else. They have no real identity of their own.
Everyone I know who buys either a Ionic 5 or 6, said they would never go back to a Tesla. Said these Hyundai EV's are a far better built vehicle. So I looked into that and found some of the reviews say the same thing. Other than the Ionic 5 2:23 N, none of the others are my cup of tea. I'll stick with my ICE vehicles. Although Genesis did give me a GV60 loaner and it was weird, but it also was a super sweet lil EV SUV.

I’m surprised that in America you don’t get head up display and tinted rear windows
No tinted windows on sedans. I think.
Here in "the old world" you can have tinted windows (back) AND Head Up Display.
Depends on which model you chose.
Just to say that in the UK, the top spec version does have the Relaxation seat facility and Heads up display
I think this format of your videos the most
