I guess the guy who made the Easter Egg was also the guy who made both the boss patterns of Kirby Dreamland's Extra Game and those crane mini-games from Kirby's Adventure. Seriously though, good review over here.
The cuter the character, the more messed up the situation. Also: HAL's brand of choice (remember they also made the Mother series and the Super Smash Bros.)
Hey guys, sorry for the wait with this review. But don't worry, work has already begun with Super Star and will be out very soon. Enjoy, and thanks for watching! :)
The original gameboy was a little weaker than the nes the, and GBC had a broader color palate and a better cpu (Yea sorry for sounding like a smart a$$)
The reason Dream Land 2 was on the Game Boy and not the Super Nintendo is that it was actually developed by a B-team headed by Shinichi Shimomura, whereas Super Star was being developed at the same time by Masahiro Sakurai. Also, the way you get through the auto-scroll section of the Dark Castle is by memorizing the layout of the first one. Levels 4, 5, and 6 of the Dark Castle are mirror images of the first three, and you can deduce which paths are the right ones to take in the autoscroll section by memorizing the layout of it's mirror image.
Dark Castle’s was also a bit of a pain, considering that you needed to guess the right abilities perfectly in order to make it through the path to the Rainbow Rod. I’m not sure if there’s are any clues in the game to help you figure it out; I think you just guess and try out the level again if you fail.
'Tis Waiu, actually, not Waiyu. It took years for me to notice the spelling error on Kirby Wiki and correct it. Eh, I'm probably boring you with this comment. =|
0:42 You're absolutely right. David Jones of the Chicago Tribune stated the game had his "vote" if "you are looking for a good time on a mediocre system." An original SNES release might have fared better.
Oh my GOD, that Rainbow Drop, I still have war flashbacks about it!!!!!! All the others were so easy like why this one is so convoluted??? Either way, my favorite Kirby game, right after Crystal Shards
I just watched your first video in the Kirby series and I must say I love how in-depth you go into the reviews. I've now subscribed to your channel and am going to watch the whole Kirby series now. Top Stuff!
Hm... I wonder what your opinions on the Zero boss fight in KDl3 will be.... Especially how he goes into his final phase. It was enough to get Kirby's Dream Collection an E10+ rating.
Kirby’s Dream Land 2 players: “I won’t consume everything but I will consume some things, and I can occasionally find a hamster, owl, fish, and…WAIT, I’M FRIENDS WITH AN IDIOTIC BLUE PIECE OF DARK MATTER!?!”
Nah, I think the black and white looks better for these original Gamy Boy games. They looked bad on an original Game Boy screen, but that's because it had that green tone, and even though you could adjust the contrast, it never quite looked super sharp and sprites in motion tended to blur really badly. But on later versions of the Game Boy or on emulators, it looks crystal clear. Just swapping out the four shades of grey with colors never really worked so smoothly to me. All the graphics were designed with black and white in mind and if you mess with that you get a lot of wonky results. If it were redone in color from the ground up, yes, that would look better.
>GameBoy Games in black and white "Yeah I'm fine with this but kinda wished it was more colorful and alive." >GameBoy Games with Color (Not being GameBoy Color) "Ok, I'm sold."
The "Dreamland Trilogy" of dreamland 2, 3, and 64 were all done by this one director and loved that crayon style, helper characters , collecting little stars, and of course Dark Matter. He mysteriously disappeared after 64 and none of his characters or style were ever seen from again for the most part.
Ho ho ho, Do you really think Dark Matter totally dissapeared from the kirby universe? Mwahahahahaha........and I'm not telling you because "spoilers" :P
I have a secret.... If you hold B and move the directional pad any which way before the title screen you will be able to change the colors of the game. Not sure if that's the right button combination, but give it a try!
Ya know, the beginning this video made me realize that almost all the main-series Kirby console games (aka not Air Ride or Avalanche) came out towards the end of the console's life: Kirby's Adventure: Released in '93 for NES, two years after SNES's release and the NES dies in '94 (though it had started to die in like '91) Kirby Super Star: Released in '96 for SNES, same year as N64, SNES starts to die by '95 Kirby's Dream Land 3: Released in '97 for SNES, last first-party SNES game, SNES dies in '98 Kirby 64: Released in 2000 for N64, Gamecube comes out and N64 is dead the following year Kirby's Epic Yarn: Released in 2010. Wii can be considered retired this year with the death of Wi-fi, though really 2010 was the last year where the Wii got a good number of new games (2011 had Skyward Sword and Return to Dream Land and not much else, 2012 had....the OP Rainfall games? Technically?) Kirby's Return to Dream Land: Released in 2011. See above
I can say that mass attack was also out in 2011 (but thats a spin off) but triple deluxe cames out with the new 3DS so we can consider that was the end of the "old" 3DS and planet robobot is out in the late life of the 3DS generation i think
The trajectory of the Kirby series has been very interesting and surprising to say the least. The fact that Nintendo introduced the world to Kirby via the humble gameboy is amazing. The fact that they gave us Kirby's Adventure on the NES in 1993 Is also mind-blowing. Almost equally surprising is the release of Kirby's Dreamland 3 on snes in F-ing 1997. I was a big fan of Kirby back in the day and played Dreamland 1 and 2 constantly. My friend had Superstar on snes and we played that regularly. Waited anxiously for Crystal Shards on 64, and I'll never forget it cost $64.99 instead of the typical $49.99. I had no idea of Kirby's Adventure and Dreamland existence until this past week when I (finally) repurchased a SNES and began looking for all my old favorites. It is on the verge of going down... Except I never had a NES. The plot thickens.
There are cases where you don't want animal friends, other than the owl. And that is in platform areas where if you fall, you die. In normal Kirby state, he can fly by himself, but not the rat and the fish. That's why everyone uses the owl.
Oh... I wish I grew up with Kirby when I was a child! 😃😃😃😃 I got my very first Kirby game when I went to New York on holiday was 17 years old, it was Kirby Super Star Ultra and he’s becoming a sworn arch rival to my number 1 childhood favourite Sonic the Hedgehog! 😃😃😃
I played this on an emulator like a year ago, but I will definitely buy it on the VC, I really don't mind the black and white, I even kind of like it, whatever, this game has one of my favorite tracks in the series, coo's theme, it's just awesome
I have always LOVED Kirby Dream Land 2. I've had it since I was very young. And it's always been my absolute favorite Gameboy title, Second being Super Marioland 3: WarioLand. I never knew about the Rainbow Drops when I was young. So I just beat it normally, and gave my brother this confused look when he asked "Did you get all the things?" >->' Nowadays, I'm older, and can't even beat Dedede. They say you get better at things as you get older. Not so much with me.
Hey, Kirby? At 5:10, why are you trying to remove Whispy Woods's mask? Has it occurred to you he may be trying to prevent the spread of COVID? I know this video was uploaded in 2014, but 2021 me just had to make that joke 😜😁🤣.
Man, I wish they would acknowledge the Super Game Boy. It was underutilized, but it was still really cool, adding colors and special borders and enhanced sound effects. I still have mine, and although it's a little finnicky about accepting cartridges now, I plan to continue using it for as long as I can. Also, it really annoys me that Pokemon Red and Blue are black & white and Pokemon Yellow is in color, despite all three games having color enhancements on the SGB. Yellow is only in color because its SGB colors were ported into GBC mode.
The first game that i ever completed 100% was kirby nightmare in dream land and that make me crazy. After that, i searched EVERY SINGLE kirby game that i could find but the gamecube and wii games, cuz i don't have a pc and my phone is too trash to run a gamecube game. And my favorite one is dream land 2

The crane minigames weren't as bad.

I know that too...

Hey guys, sorry for the wait with this review. But don't worry, work has already begun with Super Star and will be out very soon. Enjoy, and thanks for watching! :)
I thought the GB was slightly more powerful than the NES.
PlasmaPower Your probably thinking of the gameboy color
Cole Lapp Yea, but still. Just because it was green and black doesn't mean it's weaker than the NES.

SGG / SomeGuyGaming. The 6th rainbow drop part...
The dark matter fight is so awesome. Was really surprised at how good and fun it was.
Cloudy Park's drop wasn't that bad, all you needed was Coo and you were good.
Iceberg's (Kine and the fire ability) was a killer, though.
That stupid iceberg one took me forever!
