I'm currently waiting for the postie to drop off a new wiring loom ( cost me £90 from Germany ! ) I had exactly the same fault as you , running crap and probably only on 3 cylinders . I was chuffed to bits when you'd finally fitted new wiring loom and fired it up - engine sounded great .... i'm hoping that is what is wrong with my shed ( 1.9 GTTDI ) bearing in mind that it has 204,000 miles on the clock !! Wish me luck Bluudy

New wiring loom arrived , old one out , new one installed and running like a dream !!! Many thanks bud , this has been an invaluable video ! I'm now a firm follower of your vids - keep up the ggod work

EGR delete make a big difference apparently.
Consider timing belt as well. A good friend of mine had one of these on 420,000mile and only let him down because he didn't change the belt and it snapped.
Wow. Must have had at least 2 belt lol. It had one at 110 or 120k. It's stamped on the cover.

Yep. Good going there bro. Nice one. Lucky as cheap fix and nothing too serious. Try the water de carb method. Trust me it works. Done it plenty of times with great results especially on diesels.

Just take the vacuum hose of the EGR at the top and it work as an EGR delete - first thing I did on mine. Literally doing this job today too so great timing!

Great video as always Bluudy! Lovely to see the Golf up and running again on all cylinders! But there is still a lot to do buddy. *Are you just preparing it for a MOT?* Or is the MOT not expired yet? Because if it doesn't have MOT then I would first do that and at least bother about cosmetic things like interior, scratches and so on!

Thanks man. MOTs out. So will be putting it through one. Now engines working. Gonna finish off the interior. Then checkniber be. Suspension and exhaust and tyres for MOT.

This is a bit off topic, how do you get on with your metal workshop? Any condensation? I’m just asking because I can’t decide between wood or metal !
Also I have an 04 Seat Alhambra pd130 which every so often brings up an eml and the diagnostic says ‘sporadic misfire cylinder 4’. Wonder if it’s the same fault ? 🤔
It certainly could be. Yeah roof can be very wet in the colder months. In the summer months it's a hotbox

Yeah man. Still not found it either. Probably tucked up above inlet or something.
the rocker cover seal mate, it sounds anal... but I learnt the hard way.. you have to follow the correct tightening pattern and the correct torque setting... honest they will leak if ever so uneven.
