Man, she's coming along great, Sean. I appreciate all the effort you're putting into this poor, neglected dumpster Paul. We'll have her breaking the women's world dead lifting record in no time!
The man knows what he's doing it's fantastic seeing him bring that back to life
How's life treating you? I remember some time back that you did the same thing same thing, brought an Ole dumpster dive back to life!! Do you still have that Paul I believe that it was a gold top??
You're looking at it. This is the same guitar. @@DavidPayne-xp9hz
Dead lift record lol
😂
Successful addanecktomy
The truss rod does go both ways now!!!!
Nice, good luck with that monkey! Lol
Look at that the channel is really taking off. Just turned 30k subscribers and now already just under 31k. Great job Sean and Cathy. Love your channel.
Hey Sean, this reminds me of my early years when I repaired, restored, refinished furniture. Mostly antique furniture. You really are a special man, because alot of people don't,won't share their knowledge. Knowledge isn't worth much imho if you don't share it. I commend you my brother!✌️❤️😎
The Only Way to make a Gibson Better, Scar It !
Waiting on the Postman to Deliver My Scarred Guitar Any Moment Now
& This Video Is Just The Distraction I Needed !!!
Thank You Again & Have a Great Day Sean, Cathy, & Everyone Scarred ...
Live Free or Die, From Pew Hampshire !!!
Get your kit yet?
Today is the Day, Waiting the Last Couple Hours is The Hardest Part But it's Out For Delivery...@@timesurfingalien
When you used the opener upper on the control cavity it made a crack on the other side. I see it went away after you clamped it. You might try Zpoxy instead of wood glue as it will run into the crack better and you might not need the opener upper. Great video
Instead of Les Paul it should be called The Lazarus Paul. The Les Paul Sean brought back from the dead.
19:39 get him cathy
I was thinking "SEAN...QUICK...DUCK!!!"
That is so cool that you and Brad decided to change the name on it. What a great decision! I like that Sacrred is on it seing how Sean did some major work in the operating room on this guitar. I can't wait till the finish video on this project, Thank you Sean and Cathy.
I like how you gave the guitar its serial number back.
It may have been abandoned but it still have its serial number along with a scarred touch.
Alot cooler to me than having it brought back to new condition
In antique furniture restoration when we have bruised dented wood you place a small wet pad of cloth on top of the dent and put a hot iron on the cloth.
The steam brings out the dent
Love how it’s shaping up! Btw, what are you doing with the broken headstock? Maybe you can make something out of it like a top of a box for picks/capos/etc. Or perhaps something to hang on a wall. Or maybe something artsy fartsy, lol. It should be used somehow so we symbolically show Gibson not to waste any part of a perfectly good guitar just because of a double or serial number or whatever.
So satisfying watching you sand that horrendous gold color off of that😊
You the man. Thinking outside the box. It's all fun and games until the bondo comes out.🤣
Wow, she's coming together quite nice. It's so enjoyable to watch you work your magic. I do believe this will be better than when it was new. Can't wait to see the final reveal and hear those SD's screaming! God bless and scar on 🎸😎👍
If anyone can fix an impossible guitar, Sean sure can. He's the King Luthier!!!
awesome, that's a lot of work ... thanks showing us how its repaired
Hey Sean! Hello from the cold 'n' damp UK! Discovered your channel about a month ago. Love your videos and appreciate your work and skill. Your slap-stick sketches with 'the missus' cracks me up! Keep up the good work.🎸🎸
I'm glad you're going to all the trouble to repair the Les Paul. It really bothers me that someone would go to all that trouble to destroy one. Something just seems so wrong about it.
Well done bro,I can't play properly yet lol,but I will never understand how someone could destroy a guitar like that, why not just give it away . keep going I'm looking forward to seeing the end result.
The restoration of this guitar is far more valuable than the original guitar ever was.
Hey when you apply the glue you can get a plastic bag and cut the tip of the corner off and pipe in the glue like icing a cake. You will be able to reach inside an acoustic guitar easily. André in Sydney
Well done! I find the repair techniques to be fascinating and very informative.
Man you are one killer Luthier so much patience and effort. Impressive
Sean knows what he’s doing. 😊🎸🙏🐕❤️🙏
You did a really nice job on that wreck.
i would have just sanded it and stained it , no need to fill in all those battle scars , they looked cool and its part of the history of this guitar
I cant wait to see this all finished up having seen the back story all that time back. It was such a shitty thing to do to a guitar like this, good work fixing her up man! Cant wait to hear you plug it in and fire it up :)
The DumpsterPaul is a perfect name for what turned out to be a fun guitar!
Sean I know I said it before but you got hands of gold man you are totally fantastic and I'll be a member as long as I'm on this planet
Looks great! Can't wait to see the finale.
Holy smokes!!! My god!!! You my friend are a man with skills!!! Ooooooooooh GIGGY!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
@9:07; Called it! Bondo for the win! Seriously Sean and Cathy, you are both doin' a hella job restoring that Les Paul axe! I can imagine Guitar Center commiting their atrocities to the trash compactor or a wood chipper to prevent you from workin' your restoration magic! Thanks for all you do for this channel! 👍👍👍
Truly an epic save. Well done Sean 👏
Sean make sure you have your hardhat on when you start talking about Cathys work.
great video, as always, fine sir! i was a professional painter / pinstriper for 25 yrs... always used a compressor and spray guns... but boy, i'll tell ya, i've been amazed at some of the results i've been getting with just rattle cans over the past 5 yrs or so. rattle spray paint has really improved. that old dis-owned Gibby from Brad has turned out great, buddy! major headstock upgrade, too!
Expected nothing less Sean!!! You are the man!🙌✌️❤️😎
Modern companies don't deserve the same brand loyalty from their customers, they don't respect their customers anymore. I love the fact that you're putting your own stamp on this dumpster find.
Absolutely. Selling guitars by people who don’t love guitars, is the money priority of corporations. I won’t be buying from Guitar Center. Ever.
Love it man. Scarred up right!!
Great Job Shawn & Cathy. I totally think it was the right decision to do with the headstock LOGO. Turned out sooo good. Can't wait until next. Hat off 4 you guys. Thanks! 🎸- Greetings! ~Rob
You rocking it my man I can’t wait to see it finished and hear what it sounds like and I’m sure Brad is going to be thrilled to death. I love both of your channels you guys both rock.
Great job, I enjoyed the process a lot. I use a tiny syringer to feed glue to cracks, usually slightly water diluted Titebond first, and then non diluted as far as I can go inside the crack.
this is so cool man, it was heart breaking to see the poor state it was in when Brad saved her, im glad she found the right doctor to mend her scars, top job fella. i cant wait to hear her sing.
Nice job! I think I'd have used the 'Les Paul' font for the 'Dumpster Paul' logo though.
Man I can just watch this on the big screen, it’s my favorite channel it is great to see the respect and get it done that shows respect for the instrument! Beautiful work!
As a woodworker and a guitarist, I can't believe what I'm seeing here.
Same here. His methods are a bit different than I'm used to seeing, but effective. He's persistent, and gets it done.
LOVE the headstock design! Bravo!
I'm getting more and more interested in working on guitars because of your videos. Learning a lot. Thanks
Looking great! Bring on the next stage.
Slaying this resurrection-build Sean!!
That headstock veneer is killer.
The knowledge you have and the new ideas combined are fantastic!! I hope Brad can come get it so you two can jam together. Well done,!!!
Great work Sean! Dumpster Paul is looking good!
This guitar will have a soul with story to tell!! Excited to see the end result. Nice work!! I remember seeing the video when Brad pulled this thing out of the dumpster and had forgotten about it til now.
It's a shame you couldn't save the original neck, but it was pretty bad... There's already loads of Les Pauls with patched-up necks out there anyway!
She's coming along great & should turn out better than if you had just repaired it.
About 3 secords before I thought Better get the Bondo, Boom. Good work.
Damn that neck looks great! I love the new logos. Man I miss my wood shop.
Outstanding video Sean! Can't wait to see the finished jewel.
Wow that is a ton of work. I've done my share of repairs but nothing on that level. Great job
Outstanding work Sean!!!!
Wait wait, Gibson had Guitar Center beat it up with a hammer?!?! Why! Did I miss a video explaining that part? I was thinking it was beat up by a disgruntled significant other or something like that 😅
You must have missed part 1 lol
it was saved from a guitar center dumpster by the guitologist ordered destroyed by gibson
Phew I'm caught up now lol went and watched the part 1 video explaining that stuff.... One man's trash is another's treasure!
Yes yes yes yes...... Thank you so much for doing this in real time...... For doing this at all..... It's inspired me to get on my projects..... I have at least six guitars that need some work... But nothing as structure oriented as this project.... Thank you Sean and thank you Brad.
Hella cool....
Yes ...
Just a suggestion but if you're going to do a multi-part video series it would be nice if the were labeled Part 1, 2, 3...etc.
I'm able to follow along from the thumbnails....
Good job Joe. I haven't been a Gibson fan for many moons. But I do hate to see any guitar mistreated like this one. Thanks for breathing new life into it. Pewq
Cmoon man Guitar deserve a Gibson logo is not 🎸 fault.. Great job. Respect. 🇸🇮
I would be good either way but being this guitar has a back story and being it is an internet star, rebranding it is actually not a bad idea.. Adds another layer of interesting to it's already unique vibe.
Man this is gettin good. Thanks guys.
Not sure why you just didn't use wood putty to fill in the damage on the Guitar Body?
I am going to guess it's because he had to sand the top down anyway, and bondo is a bit harder, bondo can be sanded down and be repainted. Not sure how just slapping wood filler in would help, you also have to clean out the damaged gouges. . The whole top does need to be painted anyways, because of the repair work needed, likely the back side as well. Wood glue some areas like he did, but bondo makes sense to me on the surface stuff if you're painting and want it smoothed an proper.
Somebody got paid to scar that guitar, but they didn't count on Brad the Dumpsterologist, and Sean the Guitarfixologist.
Been waiting on this one to come out brother. Awesome!!!
Man Sean, been following you for quite awhile and I absolutely love watching you work your magic but gotta say, this has been a fav. Can't wait to see her finished. Beautiful work my man \m/
WOW!!!!!! That's coming along beautiful!
Looks great! I'm glad I'm not the only one who's wife tries to put me in my place when she knows others are watching! Lol
I hate watching you address the 12-year-old knuckleheads that make comments on your channel. That’s a waste of time. Yours and mine. Your other content for guitar reviews and Videos like this are absolutely amazing, you shine at this, your personality really really comes out along with your desire to help others and show your skills. I hope your channel grows and grows man.
Yeah but it's fun for me! I love a good scrap! But I get you tire of it. Sorry, brother.
Once the coating was sanded off I would have tried swelling the dents back up with water. I’ve done this in the past building guitars and accidentally putting a dent in the body dropping a tool on it. I learned the water trick from an old timer. I used q-tips. Great to see it in caring hands now.
Yeah I used to steam dents out too, but I've found that 5 yrs later those dents will start showing under the paint because the pressure from the dent in that area made the wood softer than the rest so that area ages differently, I guess. Not sure but they sure do come back. Best to fill em when painting is my experience.
I watch the crimson guy but this actually is possible at an affordable level..Thanks Sean.
Great vid ! Thank you.
Awesome job so far !! Looks good !! :)
I absolutely love the jab at Gibson and the Scarred Dumpster Paul logo. Good work brother! Cheers
This is fun to watch! Very cool! Good on you Shawn!
you can tell this is a man that likes a challenge , Awesome work Sean the rosewood headstock has a killer wood grain, the gold top is poetic and it's makin me want one! gonna go look in the nearest guitar center dumpster with fingers crossed 🙂
Wow! Great job!
I love guitars like this that have a back story and a little old fashioned love, better than new ones for me... great job❤😊
Very nice job brother👍🎸
using a little suction cup like a plunger is a quick way to push glue into cracks.
I came across your videos a while back and have been a fan ever since "GREAT JOB"!!!!
That's coming along pretty friggin awesome man!!! Great work.
Great job Kemosabe. This goes for the wifey too. Take care 😉👍💯👏🎸🎸
One thing is for sure. A man can never have enough clamps!
Sean, I got little bit to say here. are we going to see and hear the final product? The “dumpster Paul” is the perfect name. Damn Gibson for doing that to perfectly good guitars when so many kids out there have no access to musical instruments. Damn waste! I enjoy watching your vids which mean Kathy does alright with the videoing in my humble opinion. I hope to see the final video on this Dumpster Paul. I am about to put a humbucker in the neck position in my 62 AVRI telecaster. Have a great day! I’ve learned a lot
It's looking sweet! 🤘
good job really enjoyed
Awesome Sean!
Love the gold top. You make it look easy but I can see it is - only because of your skilled hands.
Great job Sean. You get results!
Looking good man. Its work like this that makes a guitar worth owning. It has a story.
Shes looking great, and I like the logo.Cant wait to see and hear it.
Sean,shes looking purdy great job,Cheers!
From Leo: What a fun project. It is enjoyable watching your work.
i love that no one was meant to have this as a playing guitar after it was destroyed, love brad the guitologist and now love this channel scar my guitar, both great channels imo, screw throwing out a guitar why not rebuild and donate it to a guitar player learning or someone less fourtunate?
Great video!!
Love what your doing with that guitar.
