I think the scrappers and cord cutters are a bit wasteful, but I guess they get some points for keeping at least some of the stuff out of the landfill.
Good that you saved the electric guitar. A Chibson in that condition is a solid $150 instrument. The inlays are correct for that model Gibson, it is a Les Paul Custom model which uses block inlays. The lower level Les Paul Standard use the trapezoid inlays. Specifically the Les Paul Custom you found is a reissue version of a 1954 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty which uses the older P90 pickups. And yes, "Grover" who made those tuning machines is located in China. Those large Trace Elliot monitor speakers are worth about $150 each.
Gibson custom’s have “Ebony” necks, not rosewood. The guitar is a fake in every way. The wiring is a big giveaway. The finish is not Gibson, the yellowing of binding only occurs with years of age. Fake tuners, and the inlays are not pearloid, or MOP. They look like white stickers.

Trace Elliot bass cabs. These are cabinets for a bass guitar. The connectors are simple 2 wire speajer cable.with a 1/4 inch mono the cabs are certainly worth something. Speakers might be blown up but if not you could likely get a grand from them
That’s a sweet guitar. From what I can see it looks like it’s missing the nut. I’ll bet it’ll play well once you fix it, give it a set up and new strings

9 digit serial numbers started in 05 if im not mistaken. I can’t see this guitar yellowing that much from 05 to now plus everything else about the guitar looks pretty new. That on top of the fact that it’s a les paul custom in the trash makes me think it’s one of the fakes you get from china that looks real but everything about it is cheap and the person probably never could get it to play right and nobody would buy it so they finally just threw it away.
I actually found a 72 Les Paul Custom in a trash out in a trailer park in Michigan. It had some sort of glass like paint on the top that was so thick that it was covering the pickup rings. Long story short at the time I wasn't much of a guitar player. I met this dude who was and we made a deal for some drums. Well turns out the drums weren't his to trade so I gave them back to the owner but never got the Les Paul back. So essentially it was stolen from me. I heard it was taken to Elderly Instruments in Lansing for a refinish but was unable to pay for it. So I imagine someone got it.
the two determining factors that the guitar is A Chipson.. one the headstock wasn't broken, two the truss-rod adjustment screw was not correct. its worth is between $100, and $300
Two things stand out to me on that guitar. 1st is the flat head screws for the bridge height adjustment, and 2nd is the truss rod adjustment. It looks like it takes an allen wrench, where a Real Gibson uses a 5/16th nut. Just saying! However it is still a Great find that I wouldn't have left behind for Free!
Although I agree it is likely a knockoff, the fret end nibs could be missing due to fret replacement, the truss rod issue could be from a replaced neck, and every other issue could be from replacing bad parts like the bridge and pots and such. I would of checked if the serial number on the back of the headstock matched something that Gibson actually made. Sure the guitar is almost for sure a knockoff, but because people can and often do modify things, there is the smallest chance its not a knock off.. Which means the difference between selling it as a knock off for 50 dollars, vs selling as a real Gibson for thousands.. To me it seems worth picking up and doing a little digging before I decide what to do with it... but that is just me.

Where I live, I only see garbage:& recycle cans at the curb, nothing else laying out like that. Also I'm curious about the story of your car.. It looks partially gutted inside?
Not everywhere. In US cities it's common for two trash trucks to come by on trash day, one picks up the big items you put on the side of the road and another comes through to empty the garbage can. This also gives the opportunity for people to ride by and if they see something they want to salvage they just stop and losd it up. That's how my neighborhood does it. As for my part of the US anyway, Georgia.
Truely amazing. The vid had me thinking of the movie, "Men at Work" where Emilio Esteves and Charlie Sheen are garbage dudes... found a body in a trash can....and the line, "someone is throwing away a perfectly good while boy. " 👍
I would be a BUYER if you still have the wooden speaker stands or the chineeseium Les Paul. Simple way to tell is, the truss rod. GIBSON uses a big brass colored nut whereas the knock off uses a Allen head truss rod. Either way, they can still be worth 100-500. Bux depending upon many things. Parts alone it's worth 100 or more just for the p90's, wiring harness, potentiometers/volume & tone knobs. All the parts
1:01 - Nice tool box !!!👍 Where do you live? Because I need to move there! So what if it's a Chibson. It can be modified into a great sounding guitar. New pots, pickups, tuners, some new knobs and maybe a new bridge and tailpiece and you're good to go.

You need a pickup or something larger! Those Trace Elliot and Polk Audio speakers were worth more, even by volume, than a lot of the rest. Those were "Speakon" connectors. They should be calling Salvation Army or some such.
in my pen in any guitar is good if it's solidly built and don't have loose parts and have a great sound any guitar is good does a matter what brand it is if it's a copy or not.
If I read the number correct 1st & 5th number are the yr 2006,, the 2nd,3,4th are the day of the yr, 171 ,, 0 is the 1st one that model , 640 is its position on the production line
Except Chibsons have fake serial numbers. Logo at the wrong angle, diamond inlay too small, no fret nibs, wrong selector switch, metric bridge, tail piece in the wrong spot, metric pots, Etc. Its a FAKE.
I have a feeling the neck was warped beyond use. U can see that the truss rod cover was off and the owner was probably trying to adjust it without success. Thing probably buzzes worse than a 1000 bees.
I wouldn't be surprised im about to launch mine into the trash can I've tried everything to set it up and get rid of buzzing frets and it's a complete lemon straight from guitar center
Kudos to you for finding a Gibson Les Paul along with pa speakers. The wooden speaker stands match mine, I'd love to have them!!! I really wish you would if grabbed the speaker stands. I would pay you for that specific model. Awe, was it a Chinese knock of gibson?

I cannot for the life of me figure why someone would throw away a guitar, Gibson or not, in that good of a shape?
Its insane!
And suspicious.
And the speakers! I'm thinking a break up and someone wanted someone else's shit out of the house who didn't have a clue on the values!
in my pen in any guitar is good if it's solidly built and don't have loose parts and have a great sound any guitar is good does a matter what brand it is if it's a copy or not.
Its a FAKE.
Yeah, I threw my chibson in the trash too. I should have used it for firewood that winter
They're making them a lot better now.
@ I know… I recently got a 57’ Chibson futura and it outplays all my Gibsons lol… kinda annoying
The yellow tool is used for aerating the soil.
The wiring was the dead giveaway. Still surprised they tossed it. I had a Chinese 'Gibson 'LP that wasn't bad along the lines of an Epiphone.
I have a feeling the neck was warped beyond use. U can see that the truss rod cover was off and the owner was probably trying to adjust it without success. Thing probably buzzes worse than a 1000 bees.
I cant believe you left the speakers. You can plug a standard quarter inch plug into those connectors.
I genuinely found a fender jaguar sticking out of a bin. The neck was completely snapped but the body was fine. I traded it for an electric piano
Check the seriak number at a Gibson database. The truss rod cover is gone.
I didn’t know the television show hoarders had a prequel
Chibson for sure!! Can tell by the bridge
I know this is 2 years ago, but the crappy cut truss rod hole is dead giveaway that the les paul is counterfeit. Just for future reference.
Love your Hoardermobile!
The speakers were kind of valuable......the Chibson Les Paul......not so much
I wouldn't be surprised im about to launch mine into the trash can I've tried everything to set it up and get rid of buzzing frets and it's a complete lemon straight from guitar center
First tool is a Garden Weasel. Sold on infomercials on TV.
Dumpster diving during spring clean up is allways score city deluxe
Kudos to you for finding a Gibson Les Paul along with pa speakers. The wooden speaker stands match mine, I'd love to have them!!! I really wish you would if grabbed the speaker stands. I would pay you for that specific model. Awe, was it a Chinese knock of gibson?
Yep .bridge gave it away .pots inside gave it away
Where’s the truss rod nut neck is likely hosed on that pos.
Engraved serial number, Engraved 'made in USA', lack of fret nibs, wonky 'G' in Gibson, truss rod end, cheap fake Grovers, slot in bridge adjustment poles, Alpha pots, skewy Gibson 'diamond' on headstock, poor rear cover fit, awful color binding, plastic fretboard inlays, all giveaways it's a fake.
Trace Elliot!!! 😟 ...Chibson, the body is a laminated wood, a ply wood, but it's ok, as long as it's playable, comfortable and has a great tone... Why Not!
