Subbed & watched the two shorts a few days ago now. Can’t wait to see Cathy’s first video! 👍🏼 Super nice workstation she’s got. That personalized housing for the winder is slick!
Hey Sean, Thanks for the fast response and the link to Cathy’s pickups. Saw the zebras and I’m hoping they can still be had for a while longer while I get a few bucks together. Be well be strong Rage on!
Yeah, I'll admit it, I kinda teared up a little when you gave that man the guitar, I guess I ain't as tough as I thought I was. Bless you for doing that.
This is the best guitar show on the internet. Sean is so kind for giving him a guitar. I challenge anyone to think about their friends, have they given you a guitar? I bet not.
I love ya man because you are sooo damn real! This " northern boy " loves your Southern-sweet hospitality way of no BS and our mutual love of guitars! You make the viewers feel like you're a real friend . I look forward to seeing more of your videos!
Nice looking firebird style guitar, Cathy's pickups sure made it sound good, and that was really cool hand delivering the guitar to Dave, sure put a smile on his face. We'll see you tonight Sean & Cathy 🤘
Wow! What a beautiful act of kindness! Then for him to play “How Great Thou Art” shows his heart too. I was really touched by it all. Thank you for a wonderful episode…
Shawn, you did a good thing, my brother! I don't believe in karma, but I do believe that you are unbelievably blessed! You're blessed with talent for playing guitar and for working on them! But even more so Shawn, you're blessed with being married to your best friend and business partner! You and Cathy are roll models and an inspiration among the dark and disgusting videos on TH-cam! I've been a PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN and PROFESSIONAL AUDIO ENGINEER in Las Vegas for 45 years. I've played up and down the Sunset Strip in Hollywood and up and down the Strip in Las Vegas with my band chasing that illusive record deal and opening up for acts from Pat Travers to Poison, Warrant to Doken, Slash to Vince Neil, Ace Frehley to Quiet Riot! You get the picture... I worked audio for everyone from James Brown to The Bangles, Christina Aguilera to Sound Garden, Mariah Carey to Billy Ray Cyrus, Prince to KISS... I love your authenticity! You know what you're doing, but you're not a TH-cam Douche! LOL... Anyway Shawn, I'm a big fan! I got really sick unexpectedly and am pretty much bedridden 18 hours a day. (Long story) I had to sell my collection of 23 guitars including 3 Les Pauls. One of which I had made to my secs at the Gibson Custom Shop just to keep a roof over my head until my SS Disability case got approved (2 1/2 year wait) I quickly had to get off of my "guitar snob" kick but was so pleasantly surprised to find out that you REALLY COULD FIND A PLAYABLE, GOOD SOUNDING GUITAR FOR UNDER $300.00! So you and Cathy always put a smile on my face no matter how much pain I'm in and I look forward to seeing new posts from you when they come out. Keep the faith and keep fighting the good fight my friend! And keep providing that you DON'T HAVE TO SPEND $1,000.00 + TO BUY A GOOD PLAYING, GOOD SOUNDING, AND GOOD LOOKING GUITAR! GOD BLESS AND TAKE CARE GUYS!
That’s not how I use my fret erasers, I go over each fret lengthwise in three ascending grits, 220, 800, 2000, and the frets come up like mirrors. Takes a little bit of effort but if you’re gonna be playing it, it’s well worth the effort. The channel is growing nicely now, 100k by the end of ‘24 I predict. Happy to be lip-flappin’ since it was only 9k or so. Dave is just awesome. “Mercy!”
What a wonderful beautiful heart warming video of what you did for your good friend. World needs more of you. Thanks for making my day and sharing and appreciating people that really matter and make a difference in our lives. Keep rolling and scarring.
Just wanted to say thanks ! As a 50 year old new to playing guitar, your channel is the one that has taught me the most about working on my own guitars. Not only has it gave me the knowledge , but also the courage to do a lot of stuff myself and has saved me boat loads of money. So thanks again ! Len
I picked up a classic sunburst Firebird with mini humbuckers from China for under $250. It's got a Richlite fretboard and aside from the mini potentiometers, there is not one thing substandard on this guitar. The switch is stamped Epiphone and the neck has a scarf joint, but it is a great toy, not sure I'd use it on a gig since it tends to squeal at high volume, but though an Orange amp it sounds fantastic.
Hey man, you do have a heart of gold that was incredibly awesome. You given that man a guitar that was great. There are good. People still left in the world. You’re a perfect example. Pretty good job you did on that Firebird makes me wanna go buy one. I have a real one but that one looks cool Sound pretty damn good might have to pick me up a set of Kathy’s pick ups 😍
Love the channel! I'm learning a lot every time I watch one of your videos. The Firebird look-alike came out really nice, the chrome hardware really set it off, and Cathy's pickups sound great in it. Keep up the good work!
Hey Sean and Cathy! Thanks for another great review of a kewl guitar but my favorite was your gift to WGP! You two are awesome! That's enuf lip flappin!
That was so cool of you .Thank you for helping out i so wish there was away to send you a pic of my Frankenstrat i built would love to get your opinion on it BTW great job on that Firebird clone
man i love this channel! somewhere along the way of me watching all these guitar shows you guys came along to my feed and man am i happy. i love every little bit of it. keep putting em through and ill keep watching!
God bless you Shaun & cathy,I loved seeing Dave smile with true joy at that sweet guitar you gifted him, playing guitar is the only thing that keeps me sane & I truly know I'm not the only one that feels that way. Cathy you've got a massive talent making those warm sounding pickups,I'll be keeping a lookout for your new channel as id dearly like to get some sent over the pond to old blighty here😂. Great work Shaun I love your style brother ❤
I been following your channel for a little while now and I love it. You've inspired me to work on my own guitar and other people's as well. I really haven't dove deep into any yet but I will soon on my own. I'm really thinking of converting my squire strat into a hardtail and HH set up. My only issue with a strat style guitar is the placement of the top volume knob. I have a habit of rolling my volume off unintentionally while playing. I would also like to polish the frets and swap out the cheap tuners with some quality lockers. So far all I've done to one is adjust the neck, the bridge, the pickups and intonate. I would really appreciate any advice you could give me on what kind of hardware to use and the correct way to make it a hardtail. Thanks in advance and I will keep watching and learning from you. Keep doing what you do from a Georgia fan
The Firebird played Freebird! Watch the great Allen Collins show us how it's done in TWO PERFORMANCES 1st and 2nd trip to London. Lynryd Skynyrd 1975 Free Bird BBC Old Grey Whistle Test [ 1975, unsure what exact date...early in the year probably] and Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird (Live Old Grey Whistle Test - 1975) [November 11, 1975]
Way to surprise Dave by delivering your own guitar personally. We all love him! He’s the bestest even if he says he’s the worst’est! He definitely deserves to have one of your models and will surely enjoy it. 😎🤘🏻🎸🔊🎶❤️🔥 That’s so funny that this company used Epiphone parts and then scratched it out very poorly, lol. I like Cathy’s pickups in there for sure. Way to bring this Firebird shaped guitar into the rockin zone! 🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻
Two very pretty guitars today, and I noticed that the one you gave to your friend didn’t have the kerning problem in the logo I was bitching about. Nice.
I love firebird pickups, have a couple of Lollar's in a Shijie Telecaster (TLV Classic P-90), replaced the P-90 pickups that were excellent. The pickups on my Epiphone Firebird, which is built just like the Gibson version (similar anyways), with a neck-through, and real Firebird pickups that SOUND like it. I paid about twice as much as this Firebird not on amazon cost, I wonder how they would compare? Maybe with Cathy's pickups the Epi would wilt...? Of course we are talking about humbuckers vs Firebird pickups, which are more like a fat single-coil sound, so it would be a dual to the end of love.............!
That’s a home run for me! I love a Firebird style guitar, and WHaT!? How does she do it???? The pickups are fat and spanky at the same time… great single coil tone and full humbucker tone too. I always thought that a humbucker that holds its own when coil split is the mark of a truly high quality pickup build. All this, and you are in the Sunshine State too? I am a St. Pete guy and I love it here. You may be high in the running for “luckiest man alive” with me.
By the way, you were on the Selman Expressway there - it’s all beautified for tourists. The Gandy is the old bridge across Tampa Bay that connects Tampa and St. Pete. If you stay on the Selman long enough heading west out of Tampa you end up on the Gandy bridge
Very awesome of you speaks volumes about you nice to see good people doing good things in these times!!! Never stop we need more people like all of you guys oh and kathy too haha!!!
I’ve learned enough watching your videos that my grandson and I are fixin to scar one for each of us. He’s got his eye on Double cut with P-90’s. I have my eye on like the firebird your working on. Keep up the awesome work pal. Papaw Richard and Walter
When I watch your videos, you remind me of the "Sean and Cathy's" that I know where I'm from... An awesome couple with individual talents that can be combined in a shared passion to create wonderful things for not only yourselves but others as well. Keep doing the Good Lord's work on this earth. 😊
Hey SMG, You have an awesome wife! She shares your passion. I'm officially jealous. If I lived close to you,I'd have you guys do my guitar wiring because my guitar tech just passed away. 😢
I have one of those. The fretboard is synthetic, and the body dimensions are not the same as an actual Firebird. You’ll discover this when you replace the pickguard.
I've been watching a LOT of your videos the last couple weeks, and it has really pushed me to put in the effort to learn how to work on my own gear. So, now, my old pile of junk Washburn strat copy from the 90s is in pieces, holes have all been filled and it's been sanded down, and now I'm waiting on a pile of parts to make my own Temucaster that hopefully actually plays as it was never a fun guitar to play in the first place.
$50 shipping from China... But the listing says "Breathe easy. Returns accepted"... That would cost $200+ to ship back to china if you got a bad one. And thats if it ever made it back. And the only way you can ship it back with delivery confirmation is via Express which would probably cost $400. I needed to return a DOA $75 small flashlight before. Was going to cost $65 to send it back. Can't imagine shipping a guitar back. But yeah, nice sounding pickups
Trickster Stuff a resistor that doesn't completely ground the one lug, makes the single mode more like a p-90 sound and not such a volume Drop. However if on lug is wound hotter than the other. Makes for a sweet sounding pickup and again not such a volume drop when the one slug is grounded to kill it to single coil.. Way back in the day they didn't have winder counters the pickup slugs were never matched.
Enjoy your show & looking forward to seeing Cathy’s pickups. Question, what is the little machine you use with felt wheels & Noxon to polish frets? Thanks, m
Wow, you know your stuff. Ive done some mods but never this detailed. My next endeavor will be replacing pick ups. I have a G and L that will sound amazing with better pick ups. I just subscribed. I can learn a lot from you. Thanks Man.
I bought the same guitar. I raised the action a little bit and the G and D were still dead at the 7th fret. I filed the fret into compliance and the guitar is now playable. But not everyone has tools or knowledge to fix this kind of defect. Otherwise, I agree with you... the paint and neck are eye candy. To Firefly's credit, I never did contact them for any kind of help. They might have tried to make it right. Nice review btw.
Holy Cow that thing is FN AWESOME!!!! Sean I think this is my favorite guitar I have seen on your channel. Kathy's pickup sound great. I would have done chrome cover though. Can we purchase pickups from Kathy?🎸🤘🏻
For sure. The Firebird one is there and something else seems to be right next to it. Can't _fully_ make out what the other decal says but it looks like it has the contours of a Gibson logo.
Man you scored. Scar that guitar and Rock on ! Having Kathy is a plus, she is going to do fine with her pickups. I love it ! Keep up the great work your doing ! Thanks
Apart from Gretsch and Brian Setzer, i love Allen Collins, who was 6ft 3 like me, and played Firebirds. They just look cool AF. That's a good looking guitar for the money, so if you get it set up and electrics sorted, that's gonna been one cool guitar. Wish they did the original style machine heads. The Epiphone Firebird iv in red with gold hardware is beautiful,
Blessings to you folks. Glad I came across your TH-cam channel today - needed a positive note for the day. Thank you & Cheers from Seattle! 🍻 BTW, picked up a beautiful Les Paul style guitar at a pawn shop ($225) - Match-boxed flame maple - "Agile" Guitars, made in South Korea. Sounds and plays like the real deal!
Man you ROCK brother!!! Man that was an awesome thing you did for Dave🤘🏻🤘🏻I’ve got one of those firebirds too in tobacco sunburst with no Gibson logo and after new tuners and a neck and bridge adjustment it’s incredible… mine has the mini hum buckets on it….love it…. Is Kathy gonna start selling pickups? Sign me up🤘🏻🤘🏻I’m in Bradenton Fl and I just love your channel 🤘🏻🤘🏻thanks for all the great content
Gulf Coast here!! Nice job on that guitbox! One thing I would.ve done is the nut. A nice Tusq or bone nut !! Definitely got a follower!! Video had me cracking up!

That was a cool deal

Love those Cathy "MotherBuckers" pick-up's 🎸🤘
Probably an unbranded Epi from the same factory in China. Good find!
I love the strap you gave Dave with the guitar. You and Cathy ROCK!
I love the strap... I gotta get a longer tongue for it... I is too fat..!
@@DaveFromTyler I'm a "triple fat" size myself.
That Peavey is a looker. I've never seen that model before 👍
The inlays in that thing look nicely done. Shaped real nice the way they’re rounded the sides of them and the frets too.

Great work Shaun I love your style brother ❤
I'm so proud of and happy for you 2. This is great to see you both doing what you enjoy.
Got a kit guitar recently. Both the bridge and stop piece were epiphone with the logo slightly scratched off.
Nice work all around! What a blessing you've done for Dave! That was sweet to watch!!
Your wife's pickups sound amazing.
I think so too!

Awesome, thank you!
Nice of you guys. That there made a great day for him. I used to live in that area, Palm Harbor, & Dunedin. 10 years ago.
Good looking guitar. Kathy makes awesome mini-humbuckers!
Those pickups sure did give that guitar a nice variety of awesome sounding tones. Very nice.

Dave played, "How Great Thou Art!" That warmed my soul!
the guitar is beautiful
the job you made on it is amazing
love this video, thanx
I’ve learned enough watching your videos that my grandson and I are fixin to scar one for each of us. He’s got his eye on Double cut with P-90’s. I have my eye on like the firebird your working on. Keep up the awesome work pal. Papaw Richard and Walter
those pickups are AMAZING.
When I watch your videos, you remind me of the "Sean and Cathy's" that I know where I'm from... An awesome couple with individual talents that can be combined in a shared passion to create wonderful things for not only yourselves but others as well. Keep doing the Good Lord's work on this earth. 😊
Shawn you seem like a genuine good guy, that’s why I watch your channel.😊
Man, That’s a beautiful firebird! You definitely picked the right pickups!
That ended up looking and sounding great, nice job you did for Dave! I think I would look for a cool Firebird sticker for the headstock!
Cathy's pickups sound dope.... Can't wait to buy some
Hey SMG,
You have an awesome wife! She shares your passion. I'm officially jealous. If I lived close to you,I'd have you guys do my guitar wiring because my guitar tech just passed away. 😢
Ya made my day bro. In a increasingly dark world you are light.
Cool guitar
It's unfortunate that it does not have mini hums ☹️
I have one of those. The fretboard is synthetic, and the body dimensions are not the same as an actual Firebird. You’ll discover this when you replace the pickguard.
New subscriber here. You have a phenomenal channel.
Hats off to you for your expert craftsmanship, in-depth knowledge, humor, and common sense.
Here to Kathy! Very cool Guitar and did a great job of setting it up! I love your channel I learned so much on how to work on my guitars. Thank you.
Great to hear!
Can't get enough of that Bowie, Sean!
Kathy knocked it out of the Park, Home Run ! Your pickups are fantastic ! Sounds wonderful, you have Scared that beautiful guitar ! 🇺🇸👍🎼
Those pickups do sound killer!!!!! Nice work Mrs. Cathy.
That sounds badass.i want some of those pickups
Excellent video and gesture... I wish I knew the output of the old waxed pups vs. the new pups... New sub
🔥🎸🔥
Can't wait to hear it some more tonight! Cathy's pick ups rock.
Love this one... blessed Dave... thank you folks

Fantastic job, Sean. Lovely that you gave that blue guitar to the WGP. I'm sure he was just amazed that you'd do that for him. :)

Soon
Tone pots exist to make me sad when they accidentally get moved off of anything but wide open.
Great video as always. I really like the left handed tuner trick, thank you.
Looks Like they had the Gibson and Thunderbird decal in the strofoam
For sure. The Firebird one is there and something else seems to be right next to it. Can't _fully_ make out what the other decal says but it looks like it has the contours of a Gibson logo.
Yeah, there were some very bad logos in there but at least they weren't on the guitar. That's what mattered to me.
Mine were in the styrofoam too
Man you scored. Scar that guitar and Rock on ! Having Kathy is a plus, she is going to do fine with her pickups. I love it ! Keep up the great work your doing ! Thanks
I noticed that your computer behind you is recording what you are playing as you test out the guitars. Cool!
Great job,man!
Killer Firebird and thats a beautiful Scarred guitar for Dave, God bless you and Kathy always man.
Hey Sean that firebird is real nice and sounds just as good as it looks. Great job you all.
The Epiphone Firebird iv in red with gold hardware is beautiful,
You really made a nice guitar even nicer. Great work!
Just found your channel. New subscriber. Man, those pickups Cathy made are killer!
Nice.....potted!! It's cool that they left long wires. I like that for when you got to mess with it
Wasn't sure I never liked white pups but with that white pickgaurdd and chrome rings damn that looks shaweeeet.
I like how you use a Tennessee Tooth Pick to open the box! Lol
Came out clean
Awesome job. A white racing stripe down the center of the rise of the guitar would really mak that look sick
I don’t want to cross Miss Cathy, but I wondered what those original pups sounded like. That’s a sweet guitar!
Blessings to you folks. Glad I came across your TH-cam channel today - needed a positive note for the day. Thank you & Cheers from Seattle! 🍻
BTW, picked up a beautiful Les Paul style guitar at a pawn shop ($225) - Match-boxed flame maple - "Agile" Guitars, made in South Korea.
Where can we buy Cathy’s pick ups?
