I just ordered one, 108.74 with tax. Your reviews are so helpful. I'm 68, just started playing ( 2.5 years in) and on limited budget. I appreciate all your flipflappen, and golden words of wisdom. Thanks!!! You remind me of late buddy I grew up with, .... f'ken crazy as hell, but was the best of friends one could have. UPDATE: Arrived, Red model nice, no visual hick-ups and electronics function fine., and WOW yes that neck is awesome by my limited understanding , going to change strings with 9s, check relief and intonation (the extent of my knowledge - but learning with the help of this very informative channel), will further update.
@@fabieneldridge3414 Keep going brother, I saw Bo Diddly playing in a bar when I was just 18, during his break I got the courage to walk over and talk to him when he was drinking a beer. (I was a drummer back then and never went far and talked about it to him about struggling.) I'll never forget when he started his next set he looked at me and said "Don't kiss that baby goodby, I may be and old man but look at what I got." Man, drums never worked out - no place to practice...... So now there is a guitar in almost every room and by my bed. God bless, you can do this.
Definitely something you can buy to your son or daughter as their first guitar. It's good enough so they won't hate playing guitar and you. And for 100 something USD? It's looking really good.
😱😱😱 Cathy, thanks for finding that thing. Sean, thanks for making sure it’s playable and gonna be killer - and enduring another girly looking guitar lol. And thanks to the people who always give money on the live streams because I’m directly benefiting from your kindness. You’re all collectively making this possible. We have a great group of people who participate in this channel, and I am deeply grateful for this guitar - and all the fun we have together! On the surface, this channel is about Scarring Guitars. When you really get to know everyone, it’s about kindness, friendship, and good times. That’s what I’m gonna think about every time I pick it up to play. 😇🙏🏻🎸🤘🏻❤️🔥 I can’t wait to show everyone what Hughie thinks when the guitar gets here - he’s gonna love it too! He really, REALLY loves music. This dog would listen to music all day and night if I let him. Oh wow! I cannot believe that find. The neck on that thing looks crazy! Rosewood?! Polished, level frets with a bone nut?! I was expecting to hear you say the nut was plastic, but guess not. The pots are fine if they work - I don’t know why people have a problem with dimes. There are more expensive guitars that have dimes. They aren’t likely to wear out or cause problems unless you’re playing like EVH. 😂 I mean, is the guitar perfect?! Of course not - but is your buddy gonna check the cavity to see if the routing is perfect while you’re jamming?! At this price, it’s an amazing option that plays great. About shielding, here’s an easy thing people can do to know if your guitar needs shielding: put your cell phone near the pickups. That’s how you’ll know if the cavity really needs shielding - cell phones and electronics (particularly wireless radios for WiFi and Bluetooth) often make them have noise. Electronics in amps, TV’s, and even plugs from outlets can do it too. Sometimes the pickups don’t make noise until you bring them near some electronics lol. It’s probably fine, but that’s often why guitars get shielded. The cell phone is a great test because they’re the most likely to be close to your guitar whether it’s set on a nearby table or in a pocket - give it a try and see what happens! 😉👍🏻 Thanks again! ❤😊
Pretty sure they dyed the neck and didn't roast it. I noticed the truss rod hole was normal maple color. A Chinese company I dealt with dyed the wood and didn't actually roast it.
Man that is a pretty sweet deal Sean, had to find something to do to it cause it was so good. Also I have no clue how to pronounce the name of that guitar lmao!!! 😂 Thanks for the shout out as well and all the help and encouragement to do a channel. See you soon brotha!
I bought a Fojill as a Christmas gift to myself - This same model in metallic pink for $99 on Amazon. I just wanted to see what would show up for that $ and I was absolutely knocked out! The finish is actually more rose gold and it's flawless - 'Beautiful neck as well. 'May swap electronics and add locking tuners but even as is ... DAYUM!
20 years ago, you couldn't find a used beat-up neck for what you can buy a really decent guitar for now! And you can always upgrade it as fast or as slow as you want... The CNC Machines have made knocking out guitars like knocking out widgets! The fact that the "big guys" are still getting anything more than $1,000.00 for ANY GUITAR 🎸 😮 is a mystery 🤔 to me. I was a professional musician and a professional audio engineer in Las Vegas for 40 years. I did an "Industry Event" for Gibson Guitars in 2005. One of the "Suits" told me that it cost them (including labor, power bill, property insurance, and every other penny that you could imagine in including in the cost) about $360.00 for a Les Paul Standard that sells for $3,000.00!!! God bless and take care...
It's amazing that the Chinese factories making these guitars can offer a lot of bang for the buck now a days. Roasted maple necks, good fit and finish, decent pickups? How do they do it? Great review as usual Sean! And kudos to Kathy for picking out a killer color too! 😉👌
As a musican, it makes me smile to see affordable instruments that are decent quality. More affordable good instruments mean more musicians and more music. And music is what makes the world go round.
My Silvertone sounds a lot like that, after the pickup swap and with the two magnets on the ceramic single coil and the Cathybuckers. Badass! Marsha you have a great guitar there!
That is how thick the ceramic magnet on the single coil pickups on my Silvertone. All I had to do was put all three in a cake pan with with the pickguard propped up and melted candle wax on the kitchen stove and they came to life and I brakleened ( red can) the pots and solder connections. It is like new, and loud. My granddaughter is really smart and helped me. 9-42 Super Slinky’s in place of the 10s. I still can’t play well because of nerves. I can’t sign my own name.. But it sounds good. She found a made in Vietnam stamping and Samick on it. And she read that they went to China in 1987. She said it’s quartersawn by listening to you describe it and she wants to help me build my HH TeleStratLesPaul Special, lol.
Wow! Got lucky and bought this immediately on your recommendation in the color I really wanted, scored shipped for less than 100$. I've bought five other lower cost guitars this year just for fun, and this is by far the best of the sub 500$ models I can compare it with. The rosewood fret board is most reminiscent of a nice Danelectro, and the sustain and ring un-amplified is warm and bright even with the junk strings that shipped from the factory. I haven't evaluated the pickups yet, the action is a little high, but you really hit it on the head this time, thanks for sharing. Great job. I would like to see what a pickup upgrade would do for this guitar? Something reasonable in price???
I just looked this up to see if they had any and now the price is $149.00 When you were checking the neck and you said about what people are commenting on what you're doing. So can you tell me if this was just another TH-camr gone wrong? I was asking a question about restringing my guitar and the first thing the guy told me is that I have to take all my clothes off. I said what is that for he told me every clothing maker product adds small fragments of material that comes off and when your guitar string is not tight enough that the fabric turns back up turning it up. Also for some reason I had to FaceTime him the whole time I was working on my guitar. That's normal right? Or should I call an adult. Of course at my age it would be hard to find somebody older. -)
Does it stay in tune after using the whammy bar ??? You should demonstrate that aspect, it would be very helpful. I appreciate your honesty in these reviews and the fact that you buy all these guitars, they aren't sent to you for your evaluation by the manufacturer. Keep up the good work, and a shout out to your other half. And believe me, I would never SCAR your guitar, not as long as you carry that mini-machete that you use to open those shipping cartons. LOL!!
What's weird is the neck heel holes aren't spaced properly. Is the neck plate on straight? Seems this company prides itself on it's painting and woods and the rest is overlooked.
Hey Sean...Excellent review! Talk about bang for the buck! Wish I would have had a guitar like that for my first electric when I was a kid. Appreciate you listing the tools and parts you use on the upgrades. I know you're a fan of D'addario Strings, I was going to ask you which ones, but Yup!...You have them listed. I would like to ask what are you playing through, Amplitube or something? You sound good, enjoy your playing too. Thanks again for these reviews, and take care...
There’s an interesting trick I was informed about setting the neck, which is after installing the strings and tuning it up, you then slightly unloosen all four neck screws allowing the tension of the strings to “set the neck” and then re tighten the screws afterward. I tried this on a few of my guitars, I could hear the neck pop not crack as the strings pulled it into the pocket. Maybe give it a try.
I love your channel. As a huge fan of cheap guitars I appreciate you and Kathy. The problem is, you've run Amazon out of stock on these! I BLAME YOU!!!
Hey man! Did you gig pro/semi-pro? You got some chops. Be fun to have you get your buds together and have an online jam/hangout next time. Hey to the missus! Thanks for the great content and Best Regards and Best Wishes!
You finally got “A” Fojill. I bought the relic one that I was trying to get you to get awhile back. It’s really nice for the money it’s quality. I haven’t seen this one yet but I bet it’s amazing. Mine was all mahogany.
I ordered one just like this even the same color. It should be here in 2 days. Also I play guitar left handed. You are a really good salesman when you can sell a left handed player a right handed guitar. I think you could sell ice to an Eskimo.
My fojill arrived today. It is just like yours Sean, even the same color. I like it. It seems great! Especially for such a low price. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a guitar like this. Thanks for steering me in the right direction. I like your videos. Cathy’s videos also. The two of you teach me a lot.
Wow! What an amazing instrument for the money. That neck and fret job is just awesome. How can they do it so cheaply? Who cares if it's pink.... lol! It sounds awesome.
i cant even find that color!!! your link goes to a flame red guitar. maybe thats what they calling that pink/purple color, but it dont look the same to me.
They have that color back now. I just ordered one. I think sometimes they are out of stock but keep checking back and often they will get new inventory.
Watched a ton of your videos. I am horrible about commenting but try to at least like every video. Just wanted to say how much I enjoy all your videos and I've learned a ton watching them. Keep it coming!
Thanks but a little heavy For me it says 10 lbs and change I have a problem with my Firefly Les Paul that's 9 and change its sitting in the case in the closet I played it about 30 minutes before I put it away
I have to admit those are nice guitars and great guitars after you set them up. I hate saying it but we don’t have anywhere to take a guitar to be set up. Oh they can change strings but that’s about it. I’m terrible but guess I’m no worse than the guitar shop. I have a Tele in my closet that I paid to have a nut changed , I hate what he did. The old nut was at least decent. I have a Carvin that has never played right. I’m to deep in it to sell or trade. It’s a beautiful paper weight. You could do a whole show around it! It’s a trip to Nashville for any real guitar work. I’m old and can’t drive 6 Hours there and back. Be a old gimp never gets any easier. Keep cranking them out ! Great videos ! 🏍🎼🇺🇸👍🎸
I'm in a similar situation. I've got a wall hanger that's got plenty wrong with it. Like you, there really isn't anyone around here that works on them. At least not that I trust anyway. The one in this video is pretty nice for what you get, but it still needed a good setup by someone that knowswhattheyaredoing. I just wonder about consistency. If someone bought ten of them, how many of those would be playable and how many would be crap?
Got the blue flame version in today. It is pretty, the neck feels great, tuners feel slack but it seems to hold tune for a bit. However there may be an electrical ground issue as all the pups have a hum. Also the pickups seem thin., not microphonic, but just no beef to the sound. Will have to pull the covers off the back and investigate.. It isn't too bad for $89. I like it better than the Monoprice Strat I got for $84 from Amazon during Black Friday.
Not sure if already did a video on the donner dlp-124 les paul copy but gets tons good reviews and under 200 bucks can get on ebay factory refurbished for 89 bucks thats what i got and it hard beat for the money
The pickups are big antennas, so not sure what good shielding the cavity is going to do. I've read all kinds of arguments, some suggest that single coils benefit, while humbuckers not so much. One guy even tried to claim that the shielding would change the resonance of the wood and affect the tone 🤦♂. Sounds like a good science project. Until someone can demonstrate a significant difference under normal operating conditions, I'm not worrying about it. I'm beginning to think that guitar guys are even worst than car guys when it comes to bickering over fine points that probably mean nothing in reality 😁😁
The first time I heard Stevie Ray Vaughan was when I was visiting my sister near Dallas in the 80s, I think 1984, and I heard a song off Texas Flood on their huge TV console stereo. I think it was Pride & Joy or Love Struck. I had never heard such a joyful amazing song and pointed at the radio and exclaimed, "Who is THAT???" and she told me it was one of their "homeboys" and her husband had grew up in Oak Cliff with him and they knew him. Jimmie Vaughan was playing in the area and they took me to meet Stevie at his show. Stevie was paranoid about drawing attention away from his brother because of the attention he was getting but I got to meet them both and shake their hands. I was just about as drunk as Stevie and had no idea at that moment what legends I had met that night. I met Dimebag Darrell Abbott in 1984 too and got a few lessons on an old Fender acoustic and when I got a job in Dallas over the summer in 1985 I went to see Pantera play. I still have trouble believing it. I`m from extreme rural Louisiana and couldn`t handle Dallas but I loved the nice happy fun people I met there. I made cassette copies of Stevie`s music on the radio, especially Triple Shot Thursdays, but when I brought them back to Louisiana they were stolen and I couldn`t find his music in stores except VCR tapes. I played drums and sang in bands for years and remembered how to tune an acoustic after Darrell showed me so after a car accident left me in chronic pain I switched from drums to acoustic guitar in the year 1999 so I could sing some stuff. I can sing and play cowboy chords on hundreds of simple songs but the nerve damage and pain in my left arm have made it more and more difficult over the years...especially after getting sober in 2016. I have bad anxiety and alcohol and other substances were my fuel for fun times since 1982. To me sobriety SUCKS, I tell ya! It really does! Errrrrrr!
@@baneverything5580 think was 1987 or 88 my dad went to see him took me with him I sat on his shoulders and my dad said the whole ride home I was begging for a guitar I've been playing ever since I was 6 years old then I'm 42 now
I bought a Fojill sss Strat that was relict in a sky bluish color . Real Mahogany body with roasted neck for about 130 dollars a few months back. I tore the guts out and put in a new trem , some cheap locking tuners and a loaded pick guard it’s a pretty good guitar but for what I have into it my Firefly Strat and Telecasters are better in my opinion. That said that pink guitar is a looker and sounded great.
overhead. i make knives. we have a model that is like a swiss army knife. a swiss army knife can be bought from $50--200, our knives start at $240 and go way up from there.just in parts the base model knife costs $67.50 plus machining time, plus polishing time, plus assembly time, then sharpening and finally inspection and packaging. which brings the total cost fpr product to $120. we could go to china and have these all made and packaged for us to sell for less than 25% the cost but our entire market is made in america. stupid is as stupid does. China skips all those inspection and safety parts that cost and pump out duplicates all day long, its a counterfeit market and they are great at it but ask them to make something new and unique and they will be stumped.
hey now, too nice.... purdy close to my old lad... uh... er... I mean my dear, sweet, precious wife's favorite color I'ma haf'ta check them out... - thanks man, this is a first class video..!

Interesting about bolting the neck to the body by doing the lower screws first but it makes sense.

Colors go together well
My Silvertone sounds a lot like that, after the pickup swap and with the two magnets on the ceramic single coil and the Cathybuckers. Badass! Marsha you have a great guitar there!
If the body edges were rolled more you would be in Ibanez JS territory, or even MAXXAS. Great find for me to give to a beginner. Thanks.
The claw is screwed in at an angle because the high strings need less spring tension. My EVH Wolfgang is like this out of the factory.

Thanks for steering me in the right direction. I like your videos. Cathy’s videos also. The two of you teach me a lot.
How'd your new guitar turn out?
Wow! What an amazing instrument for the money. That neck and fret job is just awesome. How can they do it so cheaply? Who cares if it's pink.... lol! It sounds awesome.
The little fender pick holder you put screws in when removeing screws wouldnt it be better with a mechanic magnetic bowl be better ? What i use idk
i cant even find that color!!!
your link goes to a flame red guitar.
maybe thats what they calling that pink/purple color, but it dont look the same to me.
I appreciate that!
The color changes with different angles huh I like it good one Marsha
great clean tone, youy make great review as a clean guitar i buy one thanks to you
I just grabbed the blue version of this for $89.99 off of Amazon.
I can't find it what's the name thanks
Thanks but a little heavy For me it says 10 lbs and change I have a problem with my Firefly Les Paul that's 9 and change its sitting in the case in the closet I played it about 30 minutes before I put it away
That single should sound pretty good
Sean kickin' it with sweet licks! Love 'em videos dude!
Send the Carvin to me, I'll fix it.
Looks nice. I'd call the color fuchsia.
Bet they sound pretty good
I got a blue one off Amazon no name but it jams.
They planed the neck pocket afeyr finishing for neck fitment.
I also want get one of your acoustics
Never seen these before!? I got the Fogill bass and reviewed it over on my channel. Decent for being so inexpensive.
Nice guitar!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Frets ok?
What's the difference between pink and purple?........The grip👊😂
😆😆🤣🤣🤣
Not sure if already did a video on the donner dlp-124 les paul copy but gets tons good reviews and under 200 bucks can get on ebay factory refurbished for 89 bucks thats what i got and it hard beat for the money
Ceramics that read 9 ohms or more work great.
Thank you 🙏
The pickups are big antennas, so not sure what good shielding the cavity is going to do.
😮 Dam what a good guitar for $109!
I have to break out my fret leveling tools 99% of the time and Sean is getting $100 guitars with perfectly level frets. WTF!
What you were playing had alot of Stevie Ray Vaughn sound to it hes reason i first picked up guitar
Errrrrrr!
@@baneverything5580 think was 1987 or 88 my dad went to see him took me with him I sat on his shoulders and my dad said the whole ride home I was begging for a guitar I've been playing ever since I was 6 years old then I'm 42 now
Doesn't sound like it costs... impressive
Sean, are those humbuckers 4-wire or 2-wire? Just wondering if you could have push-pull pots to split them.
This or the fesley Strat ?
No brainer ...this
How do they put a rosewood fretboard on there? Just the fretboard blanks can go for more than that right now.
I got that one too. Really nice guitar. Sounds beautiful too.
If there ceramic they should have big magnet like that.
Nice video I think I'll have one. Thanks!!! Now finish my guitar or I'll come down there and w'ell go fishing and it'll never get done! Ha!
Getting a good one
Better then most
What surprises me more than a great guitar for $109, is that Gibson struggles to do it for $2000.
overhead. i make knives. we have a model that is like a swiss army knife. a swiss army knife can be bought from $50--200, our knives start at $240 and go way up from there.just in parts the base model knife costs $67.50 plus machining time, plus polishing time, plus assembly time, then sharpening and finally inspection and packaging. which brings the total cost fpr product to $120. we could go to china and have these all made and packaged for us to sell for less than 25% the cost but our entire market is made in america. stupid is as stupid does. China skips all those inspection and safety parts that cost and pump out duplicates all day long, its a counterfeit market and they are great at it but ask them to make something new and unique and they will be stumped.
@@Q5Grafx China makes a lot of new stuff. China has the most PhD’s. Don’t get complacent.
hey now, too nice....
purdy close to my old lad... uh... er... I mean my dear, sweet, precious wife's favorite color
I'ma haf'ta check them out... - thanks man, this is a first class video..!
I was just telling somebody the other day that "because" of these Amazon/TEMU budget guitars that end up being so damn nice, why would someone want to buy one of my used Jacksons I have for sale for $150 on marketplace?
I cant sell a used "cheap" guitar to save my a$$.
Always great friendly budget guitar thanks you 😊
