Thank you so much for shedding light on the fact Chibnall actually didn’t make a lot of these decisions for the show during his era. Chibnall haters love to bash him for it as if it’s his fault, when they don’t realise that although he’s the show runner he doesn’t have full control over the show. A lot of the decisions are made by the BBC since they are the owners of the show. The terrible marketing of 13s era is also due to the BBC not Chibnall! Since the BBC seem to think that any doctor that isn’t the 4th or 10th Doctors aren’t that marketable which is nonsense. I personally don’t mind the New year’s Day specials idea as more Doctor who is always good to me. I’d personally love it if they gave us both a Christmas and New Year’s special but sadly it’s unlikely. Great video xx
THANK YOU so much for making this video! Fans have kept blaming Chibnall for moving the special to NYD for years even though it was not his decision so no he wasn't anti-Christmas or anything like that, in fact while Eve of the Daleks was a New Year's special there were actually Christmas decorations in Sarah's Warehouse so it made that special feel quite christmassy anyway! And in general I am glad Christmas specials are back now but I did enjoy the New Year's specials too and if they decide to do those again someday I'd be fine with that, in fact maybe it'd be cool one of these years to have a Christmas AND New Year's Special like with End of Time, that'd be even better!
The other advantage of NYD Specials is that it reduces the strain on my Christmas Eve bedtime routine, which includes preparing and playing all the music from DW episodes broadcast the next day!
Same, I think his era is better than a lot of people give it credit for, sure not every episode was great but that's true of any era! But there were still some fantastic episodes and Jodie was a fantastic Doctor!
@@Dolphin2048 The Woman Who Fell to Earth? Rosa? Demons of the Punjab? It Takes You Away? Resolution? Spyfall? Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror? Fugitive of the Judoon? The Haunting of Villa Diodati? I'd argue all of these are good but you didn't like any of these episodes?
I never had a problem with the move to New Year’s Day cause it’s like people forgot that’s still apart of the Christmas holiday season and we got the best looking out of casing dalek I have ever seen in the first special all the others looked like animatronic puppets compared to that dalek
The spin-off wrapped filming this month, so I imagine we’ll have Season Two in the first half of 2025, then possibly The War Between the Land and the Sea in the autumn. As for Season 3, Russell T Davies has said that another season will only be commissioned after the broadcast of Season 2, but this shouldn’t worry anyone too much since the show is such a big money maker for the BBC that it will most likely continue even without Disney’s involvement. Plus, Ncuti Gatwa suggested he would begin shooting another season a few months back and I believe Russell said that writing had begun so clearly the cast and crew are working on the assumption they’ll get another season.
Tbh, I don’t think it’s fair to have all those people together at the beginning. One of those guys is a right wing parasite, and the rest are pretty reasonable guys. Like who puts Nerderotic next to WhoCulture.
@LyraBones thank you for pointing this out. I didn’t mean to suggest any correlation with those people, the montage was just to show the variety of reactions from annoyance, to outrage, to ridiculous right wing conspiracies. I mean no offence to any of the other people included but thank you for addressing this.
I started watching at the reboot, and then went on every single episode, taking care to not miss a single one, until midway through the Whittaker years. Then I just stopped. It's not that she's a woman. She's just a bad doctor. Then David Tenant came back. And I didn't. I'd realized something else. As it went on and on, it got less and less fun, and more repetitive. How could it not. Basically, they're just running from something all the time, plus a bit of sonic and see how great the doctor is. Not only metaphorically running, but physically running. And as I got older, not only did I feel less like running, watching other people run was somehow less fun. The main reason the reboot was so great was probably because of the large gap with the classic series. I only watch a couple of random old episodes. Probably not even 5% of them. So when the reboot came, everything was new. Story lines were fresh. If they weren't fresh, I didn't realize it. But as the episodes pile on, it seems inevitable that it got more and more boring.
facts if you want viewers, Christmas day is the ONLY answer, absolutely NOTHING ON TODAY, a decent show, EVEN woke, its still Science Fiction, and interesting to watch. so ratings WORLDWIDE should always be amazing high on Christmas Day. we only moan because it is trying to Preach a message just like New Star Trek. Change is Rarely good and mostly a very dumb move and why Doctor who viewers are pretty much Tanking despite much more of worldwide audience, wish them Smart moves in the Future.

In 2009 we had a Christmas Special which concluded on New Year's Day for Tennant's regeneration into Smith. Another year like that would be good.

Personally, I don't see why there can't be both a Christmas and a New Year Special. That could be fun, as we would get a cliffhanger for bonus points.
I never really understood why Chris Chibnall got so much hatred. The writing wasn't amazing, but it wasn't like he destroyed the show.

He kinda did id argue she doesn't have one good episode

Timeless Child Arc?
@@friendlyotaku9525 no. and rosa was terrible i thought that was established
I thought it was a nice change of style for the specials allowing them to do a potentially more serious story.
brilliant video as always, merry christmas!

HI will their be a Season 3 2026 /2027 with the spin off in between ?? ?

Stop talking utter gibberish, and misspelling even the simplest words.

You say "facts", yet everything you’ve said is very much *not* facts at all.
