Plain and Simple! Without Danny Joe Brown any version of Molly Hatchet is just a cover band. RIP Danny! We will never forget you brother!

One of my favorite songs from the mighty Hatchet!! Loved this line up, too bad Danny and Duane are no longer with us.

Oh cool Riff West I met him at a bar in Sanford, FL and bought me quite a few corona's that day. This was like couple of years before he passed away which I found out through a backyard party full of bands and friends one night.

Killer performance! That lineup (and that album "No Guts...No Glory") should have made them one of the biggest rock bands in the world. I miss Danny Joe and Duane a bunch!

This wasn't on "No Guts...No Glory", but on "Take No Prisoners", which came out the year before.

Dave Hlubek just died last week. From the original lineup Danny Joe Brown, Duane Roland, Bruce Crump, Banner Thomas and Dave Hlubek are all dead. Only Steve Holland is still living from the original lineup that produced all their big hits. Danny Joe and Duane Roland were only 53 yrs old when they died, Bruce Crump was 57, Banner Thomas 63 and Hlubek was 66 when he passed. Amazing how all the old southern rock bands have no members living anymore hardly. They all die in their 50's or early 60's from heart failure or cancer. Sad!!!

This was when Danny came back in 83 after his adventure in to solo land in 1980...Jimmy Farrar was good but the fans just did not take the change well at all..If Danny would have stayed with them after 1979 ,they would have been way more popular and it could have prolonged the southern rock era...

I know your post is old and man, I love Danny Joe. Jimmy Farrar did his best. I'll never cut him down. He sure had big boots to fill and I appreciate his contribution because Beating the Odds is a strong album, not as good as it's predecessors, but good and in the same recipe for not having Danny Joe. Jimmy sounded more like Meatloaf, so I believe it was an interesting choice as a replacement. He gave it his best and I'll always remember him for that.

@@sixdollarman1362 I like Jimmy a lot and I have BTO and Take No Prisoners ,great albums and the only two he was on but Danny was the front man when they were hot and then it was like cold ice was thrown on the audience when he left for the solo career. When Danny came back by 83,,it was too late for them to get back what they had ,Danny had caused too much damage with the fans by then.. Danny said if Jimmy had started out with the band ,they would have been great also and he said that in an interview ..I am just basically repeating his truthful opinions and facts ..It was a weird move by Danny and that was huge cost to the band even though they still toured but it was nothing like their smoking hot days from 78 -80 .. Thankx

My dad saw them when they were first starting out and they opened for Van Halen. David Lee Roth got drug off stage because he passed out from smoking joints. Everyone only wanted to see Molly Hatchet after they played.

Well, my friend, don't you find it ironic that Danny Joe had nothing to do with this song, Jimmy Farrar was the co-writer. Jimmy couldn't replace Danny. But he did contribute a large portion of hits that Danny wound up singing after Jimmy left the band. Jimmy Farrar was a class act, may he rest in peace. And please don't judge a book by it's cover.

I like the newer songs far better than the old ones. Devils Canyon, One last Ride,The Journey, Justice and Rainbowbridge realy rock. The "old" Hatchet just play old stile Rock and Roll, can listen to it, but dont fancy it at all
