Best cover in the history of rock 'n roll! Hatchet made this their own and took it up a notch over the Allman Bros. And that's quite an accomplishment.

I first heard Molly Hatchet do this when I was a freshman in college. I had a 1973 Trimuph Spitfire and would cruise down the rural roads of Ohio listening to this tune wondering if I would ever see my dreams come true. They did and this song reminds of how far life has taken me.

I saw Molly Hatchet and the Outlaws together in 1979 at the Sports Arena in San Diego. Both bands came out on stage together, and played this song as a dedication to Lynyrd Skynyrd. It was absolutely the most awe inspiring performance I've ever witnessed, and I've been to hundreds of concerts. Every guitar player had a solo, and the song lasted over 20 minutes. I've never forget it as long as I live.

Man does this bring back the memories I played keys in a Southern Rock and Roll band in southern Ohio in the late 70s early 80's and the crowd would scream for us to play this song and what a feeling it was. Ahh to be young and wild again!

One of the best Southern flavored rock bands ala Allman Brothers, Marshal Tucker and Lynard Skynard. All of those bands were double guitar fueled rock and roll at it's very best. What's amazing is how so many of them died young. Live fast, die hard and leave a good looking corpse, I guess that's the mantra of the Southern rocker.
