Nothing wrong with the detail in principle The method delivering it though is not right for this type of video You are covering far too many areas in 12 minutes Those videos you done in the past where you focus on the left wrist or left foot etc are perfect as you are sticking to one body part and drilling down hard on the subject What you are doing here isn't wrong Eric it just not packaged in the right way to deliver to people the message you want to give them
I think the detail is great. The student can easily break down the setup when practicing to engrain the feels through reps. I think teaching the why and not just the how is a huge bonus.
@@jackkinoff6943 I disagree, I feel this was one of his best videos. Eric also did a great job of letting the guest coach do his thing. People want less detail there are plenty of shorts to view.
I’m 52 years old and learned to play golf by reading Harvey Pennicks Little Red Book. I like videos like this that talks basics. Pennicks book was really about keeping things simple and have good fundamentals
Yes! I found this setup natural for me. When I have gone for instruction in the past the first thing they want to change is my setup, hands more centered and my stance squared. I can do it but this stance/posture is where I am at my best. I appreciate how you bring in other coaches.
Just tried this exact setup and I am a wide shoulder longer arm player so I needed a set up that helped my flexibility in the down swing. And wow i was destroying all my clubs. Even with my driver. I've tried every TH-cam golfer stance and golf approaches and this had the best instant results.
I like the last part when you talk about shaft angle and where your hands are. I have for a number of years not been able to get my actual swing to follow my practice swing. Someone suggested that when in position I bend over and touch my knees. Then stay in that position. In the few weeks I have been doing that my swing feels smooth and lot forcing it to hit the ball square. The only issue is to keep the club head flat on setup I have had to choke up almost two inches. Would it make sense to lift up slightly higher. not ready to but new fitted clubs until I can see results playing. For the driver are you more upright. I am hitting it good but thinking I am not getting the full benefit of that club by choking up. I have not lost any yards on my irons and hitting a more solid shoy
Just saw this somehow. Jesus, EC, you’ve got like the Murder’s Row of Golf Coaches now, love it! Caught onto Coach Dochety late, couple months ago, he’s great. Currently writing a Blank Check to you for 3-4 Day school with Sieracki, Sales, JT, Braziller (?), Dochety, and the crown jewel- Mary! So awesome man 🤙🏻
I start with a slightly closed stance feet flared as suggested. But then I prefer to pull my right shoulder back in a closed position. Instead of flexing my right knee I pre-straighten it. This method has exponentially improved my swing & stopped pulls.
For us ocd peeps.....that was awesome lol. A million videos on drills to do out there.......I like a change like this for sure. Ready for P2........like now lol
Been working with the divot board and for some reason I’m just striking so much in the heel. I wonder if my setup is off where I’m too close to the ball. But the setup feels right going off this video.
Hope you get it sorted....I would really need to see you swing to say for sure what's going on and how to fix. www.cogornogolf.com/halloween/ if you don't get it sorted
@@CogornoGolf surprisingly I think I figured out why. Looked at some footage from my most recent session at an indoor simulator. I noticed from the video I've been raising up arms upward, rather than going around on the same swing plane. Also after watching another video from Jess Frank and Tom Saguto, it was more obvious I was lifting my arms. Much better strikes on the divot board!!!
Your videos are great! There is so much information out there, and it can be confusing. A lot of detail can be good or bad. Everyone is different and what works for one may not work for another.
Eric: Love the detail. John had an iron in his hands. Do all the check points apply to driver as well or are there other adjustments to make like stance width, etc?
Some different concepts here. The closed stance is something I wouldn’t do but the right hand position is something that I would to see what different results I get.
Whenever my shots start to stray it’s usually something in my set up that has migrated out of where it should be. Whether it’s ball position, grip, stance, alignment etc. The fundamentals are so important because they are often the cause of some of your problems. The worst thing is you start tinkering with a swing that doesn’t need to be tinkered with!
I like to see ankles just outside of hips or closer to shoulder width with driver I go over more setup diff with ball position, feet width, tilt throughout bag here: th-cam.com/video/sJd-0eEQU0w/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUaRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIGJhbGwgcG9zaXRpb24%3D
Hands inside of lead thigh with all clubs a good idea....as feet width and ball position adjusts the shaft lean will change correctly More details in this one: th-cam.com/video/sJd-0eEQU0w/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUaRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIGJhbGwgcG9zaXRpb24%3D
I think it helps with aggressive swings and players who tend to go over the top when they are more square in the set up. Thick chest and limited flexibility also benefit from this setup as well in my opinion.
There are some nuggets in there. However as a whole it's a pretty odd approach I won't go near most of it. Don't think I've ever heard anyone say don't line your feet to target for example and that would have me hooking it like crazy. Kinda disappointing as Eric and guests are normally gold.
Ben hogan used a closed stance with his long irons and woods. He played a fade. Not all all athletes run, shoot, jump, or serve the same. The golf swing is not different. Yes there are some key fundamentals and requirements to get desired results. Eric is doing great in showing different ways to get the job done. I was playing the ball with my driver way of my left heel for the last three years and lost distance, going about 230 to 240 carry. Even though I was striking it well. Occasional pop up and or hook. I thought is was my age and swing speed slowing down. Higher ball flight. I recently moved it back and to my left pec/left ear. My accuracy and distance improved and I gained 10 to 15 yards of carry with a stronger trajectory. No pop ups and snap hook is gone. I play a low spin driver head/deeper face(PXG 0811 X 9 degree). I tend to hit center face to slightly heel with the driver when it is up toward left heel, now center face almost all the time. I use to play the ball back when I first started playing golf with my driver and only went more forward with all the hype about hitting up on the ball. I was about 5 to 6 degrees up. Now I am about 1 to 2 degrees up and when I hit a cut about 1 to 2 degrees down. The low spin head really manages the spin. I heard some time ago that fast hips ball back more, passive release. Slow hips ball more forward with more hand release.
How do you like this style of video? A lot more detailed than normal for us. Like the detail or prefer things more simple?

That was a lot of information, which is great, personally i prefer the one takeaway if I'm trying to make a change.
It's good to have the information, but it raises questions about whether you can do just one or two of the changes and what the effect would be.

Sounds like you're on the right track Rick! You certainly dont need to have the club FLAT on the ground .....
It looks, like this series will become one of the most important series of golf videos on YT. Thanks to Eric and John for their effort!!!
Thanks, Frank!
John has some interesting checkpoints. I hope he continues with how the open club face at setup affects the rest of the swing.

Question ??? John said the hips and shoulders are open to the stance. Does that mean open to the feet or open to the target?
Both----only slightly.
I like it - lots of detail with reasons why. All can be worked on away from the course too.

Sure thing!
Where are the other videos of this series? Thanks,
We ended up not posting...will let ya know if/when we do!
please update as this absolutely had an instant positive outcome!! UK

How would this set up work with a ‘ball above your feet’ lie?
Grip down on club and aim a bit right
@@CogornoGolf so feet line even more closed?
Trial and error on course and see.......the answer is "maybe"

Wow amazing

Great... but after All that how do we relax...an swing easy...I now got 27 5houghts just to set up???
Breathe :)

Definitely non traditional new school vs old school. I subscribe to more old school

Isn’t this just a setup for impact swing. Somewhat single plane, setup position is impact position, u just turn and return back to setup.
something like that :)
