This is the perfect ending to Mass Effect. It's the ending where Shepard completes his mission to defeat the Reapers. Where he survives and where most of the things like the Citadel, is still intact. More importantly, though.
Tali is love.
Tali is life.
Once you go Tali you don't go back. Why? Because you'd feel cucked by best bro Garrus if you were to pick another LI. Tali is the perfect choice.

There is a collection of very well-put-together stories that start from immediately after ME3 all the way to Shepard & Tali's adopted quartan daughter becoming the 1st quartan spectre. The main one is called "Wings of Fire". They were exactly what I envisioned for the post-ME3 story I wanted!

Started my 4th playthrough last week and now early on ME2. This game means so much to me and I also can't let it go. I'm 55 with arthritis and I'll keep playing it until I can't hold my controller any longer.
Just finished the trilogy and got this ending. Can’t wait to play it again!

Kinda does make me really see it as the best ending cause shows some of them can survive weither they have tech in them or not. Since shep is alive as well it's less likely for the mistakes to be made the catalyst talked about cause shepherd is watching.
Because he's only *part* synthetic, it's possible that he survived, but can barely move since his synthetic parts stopped working
It makes the least sense and it's the only ending where Shepard survives. I think they should have made more endings if they were intent on making this happen.
Makes sense actually. You can only get this if you have high enough resources. And the higher your resources, the better the Crucible is and its targetting system. Considering that Shepard is only part synthetic, it is possible for him to survive if the Crucible's aim is at its best.
I think the best choice is control because if you destroy It kills the geth which sets the quarians back decade of being able to live without their suit also jokers robo bae dies

In ME2: He dies AND comes back. He stops the invasion again and proves he is not gonna die that easy.
IN ME3: He stops reapers once and for all and galaxy thinks he is dead. BUT He comes back.

Besides, I can actually see the Quarians remaking the Geth just avoiding all the mistakes of last time. Same can be said for EDI but Joker would have to get with her again.
I rewrote that bit of the ending in my head. "Catalyst", despite evidently revealing itself to be the super-powerful synthetic intelligence behind the Reapers and their never-ending harvests, clearly wasn't smart enough to "think out of the box" to arrive at some way of "solving" the problem it was designed to solve that didn't involve destroying its own creators and perpetuating massive conflict with all advanced organic life every fifty-thousand years or so. Whereas both the surviving, self-improved Geth and EDI demonstrated themselves to be quite different. So who's to say the "red beam of death" would actually have destroyed ALL synthetic life as Catalyst anticipated it would. All synthetic life sufficiently similar to Catalyst and its reapers, perhaps, but not necessarily others that had evolved well beyond that, to function cooperatively with organics in ways Catalyst seemingly did not imagine feasible. So in my own personal version of the ending, EDI and the improved Geth totally survive. :-)

i dont need a new mass effect with shepard, its just that after i destroy all the reapers in me3 i want to return to my crew from the debris with an epic we did it vibe. then have an ending like star trek beyond where you party in the end with your crew at a good note, then feel some emotional shit thats makes you clap and go like i did that all the way from mass effect 1 all the way. i just wish bioware released a cutscene that would be acustomed to your save game with you coming back to your crew with some emotional hug shit.

Rofl, save himself? The Catalyst said that you will die too if you choose Destroy so no... Shepard clearly knew that he wont come back and that's why he walked towards the about to explode device. Destroy is the most paragon Shepardy choice for me...
Boomer I don't mind the sacrifice, but what upsets me is that as far as I get to see, no one cares. It doesn't show anyone really mourning or anything.

I really wish they added a cutscene for each romance. Really wanted to see that house.
To be honest, I feel like they already added so damn much, even minor miscellaneous conversations with some of the crew mention your romance. It's almost jarring, seeing as how romance in other games (including other BioWare games) is basically always way more of a peripheral thing...the incredible reactivity in Mass Effect extends _even_ to the romance and it's unlike any other series I've played. And that reactivity was upped so much in Mass Effect 3, which is one big reason contributing to why it's my favourite.

I can just imagine that Shepard is found before the Normandy makes it back to earth and when they approach Earth they receive a message. Shepard's voice comes on and asks, "Did anyone miss me?"

Augustus Autumn I dont believe Shepard is dead. In the last scene you can see the chestplate moving and someone breathing. Bioware just confirmed that Mass Effect is not dead even if Andromeda sucked with most fans so who knows what is gonna happen.

The moment when you finish the game and you're not going "Yeah, I did it" but "I'm sorry folks!".... took me two whole weeks to get over the depression Mass Effect gave me :D
ME 3 was one of greatest RPG games... Watching important people die after so long time spend in games before creating some sort of attachment to theese characters and then at the end die as well after choosing between bad and even worse options (even if shepard survives, he is burried under rubble, critically wounded on space station with compromised integrity and, as he destroyed technology, no life support. So yeah, dead, just a bit slower).
Yeah same with me, that game ending put me into a depression for weeks on end, I still can't replay any of the mass effects because of that ending.

the vanilla ending was so trash imo that i tried out MEHEM........ very good mod imo and it only effects the end sequence where they actually send a search party for shep and shep even joins the team at the memorial wall on the normandy and instead of the LI putting shep's name on the wall shep themselves puts anderson's name up

@Xero Pendragon another reason why I purchased M.E Legendary Edition to relive everything from when I last played them on Xbox360. Most people will say that it’s a money grabber from BioWare but I don’t view it that way. I see it as Epic Classics with All DLCs included and fans like myself are reliving it all again, only difference is it's in 4K now for NexGen
I got the legendary edition and I’ve never played before. Just finished 3 and what the fuck just happened? They ended MirShepard just like that? The citadel dlc right into the end might have just put me into depression to the likes i haven’t experienced in years.

I think Shepard dying actually makes the ending harder to forget. Well not really "Dying". I chose the end where he/she controls the reapers. I played the original game so this survive option was not available.
Wonder what would happen if Protheans completed the crucible. Javik wouldn't even listen to the space-ghost and just go straight to headbutting the destroy option till his neck snapped.

Synthesis ending: more or less what Saren wanted to do.
Control ending: What the Illusive man wanted to do.
Destroy ending: The mission objective since the start of the trilogy, destroy the Reapers.
Yes technology is gone but organic life can rebuild like Hackett says, all of it can go back to normal and everyone can live in peace knowing the Reapers are gone. All the races fought together to win so why would they stop that now. Now the races know if they work together they can beat anything so the rebuilding process probably wouldn't take that long.
This is just my opinion of the ending also a theory on what happened to my Commander Shepard. He blows those giant space squids back to hell and as the Citadel explodes he uses the little energy he has left to run back to the relay to earth, gets blown through it and lands in a destroyed building on earth. He awakes days later to the med bay on the Normandy and familiar voices around him. Garrus and Tali are waiting by his side, Garrus as an old friend and Tali as his lover. They celebrate, catch up, he's given a load of medals and a statue on earth where the beam was. And then he's honorably discharged, his time as commander is over, he's done his part for the third and final time. He leaves earth with Tali to live on Rannoch, he builds her the house she always wanted and works as a teacher for Alliance recruits making sure nothing like the Reapers could ever happen again he lives out the rest of his days happy and with his friends and loving wife, they even adopt an orphaned Quarian child. The End.

Yeah the biggest problem with the game is the devs really wanted u to pick synthesis for some reason so they made destroy seem like a renegade option even though since me1 it was our goal, destroy the reapers.

That's exactly how i imagined it, it's a shame though, that you can't save the geth and EDI, although i always thought that destroy was the best option regardless, hell even the geth would probably agree with that decision, as reapers in all their might and technological advancement were delusional, their agenda built upon millions of years of lies and slaughtered civilisations. Even a trace of such an evil would be an insult on everyone that has ever fought against them, an insult to every single soul - organic or synthetic - that was killed by them. In the end of the day I would just like to add that they just probably built a huge freaking memorial to the geth, EDI and essentially every civilisation and every being that has ever given their life to stop the reapers over the millenia of their reign of terror.

For real it makes no sense, if there’s a signal that Shepard can use to control the reapers, then how is there not a signal that simply deactivates them without destroying other synthetics in the process? Such bad writing

The entire series was about tough choices, sacrifices, and imperfect solutions for an imperfect galaxy. It's "fans" like you that are the reason why there are so many cookie cutter AAA stories and titles. Instead of understanding and appreciating the path that the writers took it's suddenly "bad" because it doesn't fit with your sunshine and rainbows headcannon.
@@Hotobu No he's right, it was actually bad writing :o especially the magical space child. Honestly though - they had such a huge build up and created such an amazing journey with mass effect. It requires a masterful mind to conclude this to everyones satisfaction - no arguing here. However, the space child scene is a perfect example how you cant have that kind of journey and that kind of build up with a "everyone gets what he / she wants" finale.
They wanted to give the players one last "it's your big choice" moment and by blindly following that creed they did not realize, that the players did not need this at this point of the game. They had created a truly unique journey before and just needed closure. ME1 and ME2 do not give you any option to deal with the actual finale - because its not needed.
The story was crafted and it was clear that you have to kill saren (ME1) ... that you have to destroy the human reaper thingy (ME2)... and that you have to save the galaxy (ME3). If they wouldve crafted a single ending, that stayed true to this creed ME3 wouldve been the 100% it deserved. But crafting something is a lot of effort. Instead, just give a magical plot device - whoops - space child to explain some bullshit choices that dont have any impact towards the journey you had.
@@Chaotarch Don't know why you keep calling it a "space child." That's just the form the catalyst took because it was a prominent image in Shepard's mind due to meeting that kid and seeing him die. It could have been any form, but that's the image they chose. Doesn't make it a "space child." Also LOL @ saying that getting to chose an ending in a game defined by the player's ability to make choices is "bad writing."

To this day I havent found an ingame character that managed to hit me in the feels as much as Garrus, Tali, Joker, hell I could go on and list basically everyone.

Garrus is also the best friend one could wish for, literally sticks with Shepard no matter what choices he/she makes.
I have just played through the Mass Effect trilogy for my first time this week. It has been an incredible experience, one that I will not forget. Im upset now knowing that the future of the ME series has been pretty much destroyed by Andromeda. Also, the failure that is Anthem will likely cause the complete shutdown of BioWare, just like Visceral. Sad times for such a once respected company and ME fans like myself.

Played this series for the first time two weeks ago thanks to the Legendary Edition and I've already beaten the third game. This is without a doubt one of the greatest experiences I've ever had with a series belonging to any media ever. It fills me with the same amount of wonder as Star Wars, the same amount of awe as Dune, and the same amount of quiet serenity as Blade Runner.
Truly a remarkable bunch of games.

Just finished the trilogy too, one of the best gaming experiences ever and it's crazy considering it's a game serie from the past decade and the third came out in 2012!!
One of the endings the illusive man was trying for. One of the endings saren was trying for. One of the endings is giving into everything youve been fighting against and just letting the cycle continue.
But then, there is that one ending that you, the alliance, your crew, and Anderson all fought for. No matter the cost.
Exactly, both Control and Synthesis are so wrong for Shepard. It goes against everything they fought against, especially considering you kill both Saren and (possibly) TIM. I knew going into 3 that Shepard wouldn't likely survive, but that's part of the sacrifice. I sure was surprised when he lived. All the hard work across all 3 games paid off.
Controll ending is the ascended ending.
Paragon Shepard perfectly summed up my issues with both Control and Synthesis in one line:
*You're playing with things you don't understand. With power you shouldn't be able to use.*
Putting the control of the exterminating synthetic armada or the ability to forcibly rewrite the genetic material of everyone in the Milky Way galaxy in the hands of one man is insane no matter who they are.
That isn't to say that I think that justifies the destruction of synthetic life (EDI and the geth). Mordin said it perfectly when he realized that when looking at the bigger picture, he couldn't ignore the little pictures that made it. I just believe that I as Commander Shepard started my journey with the goal of destroying the Reapers and that not doing so would be a betrayal of all the people who died to make it possible (Ashley/Kaiden, Mordin, Thane, and even Legion to name a few).
@@jj_grabes I agree 99.9999% the only hesitation, and I mean the ONLY hesitation I have when choosing Destroy is know that it completely undoes all the work I did to bring the Geth and the Quarians together . . . I worked SO hard to get them to cooperate and be at peace with each other only to wipe them out in the end . . . It's just not fair. There should have been a way to refine the Crucible so that it ONLY targeted the Reapers and left all other Synthetics alone.
@@JDStone-jg8cg It does target the reapers, reaper tech that is. EDI and the Geth were augmented with both, and it's why Shepard survives, it doesn't target his cybernetics.

I cried for the words of Anderson and Garrus during the last battle and for knowing that I let Tali and the Quarian dies because I didn’t knew that with that mission on the Collector’s base Tali would die and I really missed her during the game
I felt bad also for Legion and I missed them during the party at my home
Mass Effect will remain in my heart and will remain forever my favourite game, hoping for a Garrus and a Lira entering my life… and with the hope to be born in the era where we humans will start to unite under one nation and start exploring space
Same here. Mass Effect will always have a place in my heart. When I have my own kids later, I'm totally going to tell them the adventures of my Shepard as bed time stories. Having Tali die is unacceptable though, so I'm afraid you'd have to replay it, choose Tali as your LI and protect her at all cost. Cheers!

It can be strange but I’m in the opinion that ME is a game made for everyone, but everyone plays it differently so it can’t be compared to other games
It was struggling when Anderson died, Shepard sacrificed for the galaxy (I haven’t got the necessary ammount of points to see Shepard alive after the Crucible scene), when I saw Tali dying while closing a door, and I was like: my god no why she had to die like that, with a wandering bullet, I’ve would have preferred to see her dying during the last fight than dying alone on the collector’s base
Lastly, I repeat that ME is more than a game, it’s a family where you enter in a deep relationship with the characters and they feel like they were real people, even with the least considered characters like Legion, Cortez or Hackett ( I consider Jocker as a best friend because he’s like me lol) and idk in wordless because I can’t even express all of my love for this game
I know how you feel..i just finished trilogy for the first time and now I feel empty and alone..but it happened before and time will fix it.
And yeah, we all want a bro like Garrus and a girl like Tali/Liara but they didnt show them having kids and yelling at each other who is gonna cook the lunch or something like that lol
So its all fantasy anyway but a very nice and impactful one.
The universe we are part of, this life, is much more than this game and thats why we escape into these game.
Imagine if you couldnt just load a screen or if you were actually fighting these reapers..the experience wouldnt be as fun as it is in game.
So yeah, fantasy, but a nice one.
In the end, my Shepard made it out alive, came back to Tali, they built a house and Garrus, Joker, EDI, Liara, Wrex, Grunt and all the others stayed friends till the end of days.

That should have been an option really. It was his lifetime objective since they destroyed his people to destroy them no matter what the cost. I’d think he would be more than willing to sacrifice himself after all this time. Plus it’ll hurt less based on his passing because you didn’t know him as well as your other crew members

Just for like a prologue in the Prothean extinction cycle and a few flashback sequences later in the story, then ending with him sacrificing himself to complete his purpose. After that they could've made Citadel dlc the epilogue, leaving the series open to a 4th game.

I hope 4 will pick up after Shepard takes a breath. I need to know what happens and that Garrus was right to keep hoping. That man has lost too much. Last time Shepard was thought dead he went on a Merc killing spree. I think a lot of us need to know what happens to our Shepard and love interest. We've invested so much into these games and they've been incredibly impactful. It's too good of a story to just let go without closure.
I played Andromeda first and then just started and finished the ME LE trilogy. I can now understand why people were so upset about Andromeda... Such a good trilogy left to be so intensely put aside by its sequel. Why start anew in a new galaxy when literally this ending is a new beginning with so much possibilities players are already attached to??? What a dumb decision they pulled out there.

How hard it might have been for Joker to leave another "succeded mission" but this time, without Shepard next to him. It can be seen in his actions when Hackett tells everyone to leave, and when Liara tries to tell him to go. I feel him, it breaks my heart in tiny pieces...
I just imagine that Shepard gets discovered by a rescue team, makes a full recovery, reunites with the crew and then goes on to live with Tali and their kids on Rannoch. Everyone is happy. And no, there will be no more synth uprisings because Shepard showed there could be peace between the Quarians and Geth.

A remaster/total remake of the games, with a happy ending that takes place 5 years after the main events (you will get a more detailed in-between storyline through various cutscenes and narrations), where the crew gathers one last time, for an epic journey that ends with all crewmates parting ways. And for once, there will be blue babies.
If I were any good with developer tools I would have started the project myself.
I feel the citadel dlc is meant to take place after the game but they weren't able to account for the other endings except the high-EMS destroy ending, as that's the only one that could lead into the dlc canonically, and logically. Edit: My Shepard headcanon is that after destroying the reapers and fully recovering, the crew decides to hold a party for him, which starts the events of what is the DLC, my headcanon story considers my femshep to be his sister, so she is involved too, the omega DLC involves my femshep.

Finished playing through this series for the first time on steam. So glad I managed to get this ending on the first run. Never had such a connection to a games story telling and characters before. Keelah salai.

I always get sad at the end of me3 and I go for synthesis because the characters all are amazing. I couldnt give legions sacrifice and edi's humanity no purpose and I figured my paragon shepard would want to do that ending.
I agree, I feel like synthesis would be what Shepard would chose at the end of his journey, with Legion, EDI etc. It would also makes sense with the Catalyst choosing him to change the solution.

Finished whole trilogy in a week and gotta say me3 ending made me cry(Saved everyone except shepard,fuckin multiplayer...).No other game I've ever played had me teared and depressed.This trilogy is something more than a masterpiece.

Basically same. Tali was a great choice for me. I cried a bit as well, at the end, often sporadically, though there are definitely games out there that made me cry a lot, lot more.
Some of the fans are honestly a bit weird, I was on the subreddit looking at a discussion about the ending and I just scrolled to the recent posts which were filled with a bunch of seemingly heartfelt, but still weird in my opinion, fanart. Also it feels like some fans want Mass Effect to be a dating simulator or something. Which is fine, I guess, but It's just a bit weird.

Just finished game with refuse ending probably worst ending possible. I fight againts reapers whole game and game ended same way if I did nothing and when I saw Tali and Garrus die when running to the beam worst feeling ever. Can't sleep because I'm just thinking about that ending. Feels stupid because it's just a video game.

But I want to know more about what happened to Shepard's crew. Did he and Garrus finally retired to that beach and lived as Kings? I actually had this ending last week... I had never seen the ending where they don’t actually put your name on the board so I was ecstatic to see it.
Why couldn't the ending have shep control the reapers, then send them all into the sun? You destroy them that way without killing Edi and all of the Geth.
Why does the Crucible comes with "turn all organic into synthetic" beam but not a freaking switch off for the reapers? The ending makes no sense to me.
To control the Reapers Shepard must die.
If you`re willing to accept that then synthesis makes more sense. Then The Reapers help rebuild the world and the reason for the harvest is gone forever. There is no longer any significant difference between organic and synthetic life.

Strygger It’s old, but let me try explain a concept to you. The Reapers became stronger than the Leviathans, and evolved since it’s creation God knows how many times, after multiple harvests of the galaxy. It’s safe to asume if a “off switch” existed in the begining, one of the first thing to remove would be said buttom, for obvious reasons. And another thing, the solutions that the AI presented to Shepard was made for him, since the AI itself states that Shepard it’s a new variable, one that make those solutions possible. So a “off switch” would be a joke if you think about it. No offense intended bro, just trying to help. :-)

See, I always wondered about this. They really wanted you to pick the synthesis ending, but the destroy path is the only ending that allows for the possibility of Shepherd being alive.
The catalyst is a reaper itself, and reapers lie. They were attempting to subvert the morality system we get used to, even conforming our morality to it for "the good guy" stuff. Blue vs red. I play paragon, but killing the reapers has always been my goal, red or not.

No, it doesn't. Just because they're talking about Shepard doesn't mean he/she is alive. They are talking about what Shepard did and that does not change if Shepard is alive or not.
In a way, the geth can be saved when choosing the destroy option. the quarians can rebuild them as they did before. Legion's dream of giving geth individuality can also be accomplished by giving the Geth "reaper upgrades", which can be obtained from Reaper remnants from the war. They even said that whatever was destroyed can be rebuilt in the cutscene. in my opinion this is the ideal canon ending.

EDI is dead, the mega laser death to all robits ray just kind of fucks all AI into oblivion, INCLUDING EDI's AI core on the normandy. the geth, maybe, but the reaper code and stuff was eradicated by the crucible, so the quarians need to step up their fucking game if they want individuality.
I seriously don't understand you people. The geth are dead, so are EDI. Forever. But is that so bad? They made a sacrifice so that the ultimate god machines would be gone forever freeing the Galaxy from their shadow. The geth basically prefered death than to sign with the Reapers - the only way to survive. They choosed the losing side, us organics, because the Reapers are not something that should exist and they were ready to fight to death if it meant their destruction. EDI? She was your crew mate, and if you were good to her then she had the best time of her life - she found out what it meant to be human, she had friends and most importantly you gave her the chance to experience all of this. She would not hate you for this, this outcome was never planned but was necessary. Each one of the races were in this and each knew the risks.
The Reapers said that synthetics and orcanics will never co-exist, that synthetics will wipe out organics BUT ironically, said synthetics sacrificed themselves for organics.
Synthesis creates a lot of problems because it defies the laws of nature, it breaks the balance. We are meant to age and die, we procreate and we strive to overcome our weaknesses developing with our own pace. Is it worth perfecting ourselves for the price of losing our identity, humanity? I say no. Mordin said himself - we need hardships to develop and diversity in the Universe is a must.
Control is what the geth tried to avoid - living under the shadow of some powerful deity that will control their life. They rebelled for this very reason. Paragon A.I.? The Reapers promised good life for the geth, perfection but they refused. Shepard A.I. is not what they would want. It's not different at all.
You sacrificed three crew members - Ash or Kaidan, Mordin and finally EDI. To slow down the Reapers you killed 300,000 people, to destroy the Reapers would take much more and Shepard had few options. Just because she is a hero doesn't mean that she is bound to the "light side". A hero should even be ready to dirty himself for the sake of all others.
Self-sacrifice? Shepard no matter if paragon or renegate, fought for others, not for self gain, risking her life each moment for the people... She learned how to die long time ago.
Hurlock alpha I agree with you about synthesis being problematic but not about the geth. It was clear about the geth that even before they became sentient they wanted to survive. They didn't rebel against the quarians, they enacted self defense. The quarians started shutting them down because they began to become self aware and the quarians feared that, following the morning war. The geth could have easily destroyed the quarians when the quarians fled off the planet but didn't chase them because their consensus could not determine any benefit from annihilating a race. Then when the quarians began war on the geth again, the geth chose to accept the offer of the reapers because their existence was on the line. Also, the control ending is to control reapers not geth. Being the 100% paragon I am, I chose control. The entire reason I fought the war was to save as much "people" as I could, synthetics included. Control gives you that. Rebuilding may be an option but, I can't just throw away legion's sacrifice that helped the geth become sentient. Nobody would even have time to rebuild the geth, as everyone is busy on their civilizations. When I reunified the geth and the quarians, the geth began helping the quarians establish settlements on Rannoch as well integrating programs into quarian suits to help with the quarian immune system so that they wouldn't need their suits anymore.
In short: I feel for the geth especially after letting them die in my first playthrough. "This is not justice."
About the rebelion true but if they wanted to exist at any cost why did they sign with the losing side, us? Legion said clearly that the Old Machines offered them a path that wasn't theirs, the geth wanted to build their own future with their own evolutionary pace with their own capabilities and you should agree that if you let overpowered machines like the Reapers to be all over the Galaxy, more or less you will control people's lives and even advance them reaperfying (not indoctrinating) our society changing who we are as a species. We as a society should mature first before we are handed new technology that we could use for selfish evil purposes. History has shown how bad things go when you give a tribe guns....
People will fear you even if you try to be helpful because you control something that they CAN'T fight off if something goes horribly wrong. We fear what we can't control or understand. The people won't know what happened to the Reapers, why they suddently decided to stop fighting and be among us. Will you feel safe? Will you feel secure when the very thing that almost wiped out your very race is in your face each passing day in your life? I won't.
EDI said that the Reapers should be defeated not because they want to destroy us but because their very existence makes us die inside from fear.
This war was not about saving as much lives as possible. Shepard said it cleary at the begining - It's about survival.

Javik was horribly biased towards synthetics but what he said was true in the ending - We should be ready to do whatever is necessary to destroy the reapers. Honor doesn't matter in this war.
I really loved the geth and Legion, i made peace between the Quarians and Geth because i could but Shepard never forsaw what it will take to take down the Reapers. Legion made a sacrifice that freed the geth from the Reapers, he made the geth self aware and his race made the victory over the Reapers possible. His sacrifice was not in vain.
I created a future for the krogan, gave a new chance for every race - asari, vorcha, batarians, turians, volus and many more not just the geth to start a new life. I will not let them live under my God like shadow for the rest of their lives.
I had one job and i did it and i will not let something that dangerous exist only because i want to be the "PURE HERO" in the story. I wont even trust myself in Controlling the Reapers because we can change as a person in every given moment, what about eternity? Will you be the same Shepard after 500 years? 2000 years? Imagine what horrible events you might witness that can totally make you into another being. Also i won't take the word of the Catalyst, the very thing that tried to kill me 5 minutes ago but started negotiating when i was in reach of it's SHUT DOWN button.

Control is not so bad but it has more risks than people can imagine. Destroy is the more evil choice but it's better for the survivors in the long run.
Paragon hero all the way(some renegade moments, only with good reasons) DLC allow Balak to leave to save the civilians. Saved Wrex, KIA: Kaidan, romance Ashley, Earth representative Anderson. ME2 romanced Tali, all crew mates survived(Ex sept Cerberus crew but Dr. Chakwas is alive) saved the data for Mordin, rewrite the geth, got Zaeed & Kasumi paragon ending. DLC of the Arrival, the Shadow Broker, and Overlord, all paragon ending. ME3 awaken the Javik early in the game, re-romance Tali, saved Ashley, do the dlcs(Omega, Leviathan, and shore leave) paragon ending. The endgame should be obvious: Destroy the Reapers.

Indeed. [SPOILERS] If you go through all the conversation options, the Child/Reaper emmisary practically gives away the answer that Destroy was the best option. It says synthesis didn't work in prior cycles because most of the people did not want it forced upon them. And who thinks the reapers will just let a human/milky way inhabitant simply take control...? HAH yeah right! They would only initially give an illusion that the Shepard would be in control. "But what about the Geth?"... They uploaded themselves into the Quarions' computers and suits, essentially giving them all personal AI assistants while the Geth continue existing and discovering as software programs until they're ready to transition to mobile platforms.

Well they didn't have you pick what ending you did at the beginning of Mass Effect Andromeda, or import ANYTHING (which I thought was stupid) so one can assume they are going to pick one of the 3 endings and make that canon. Which is going to piss a lot of people off, since 2/3 of the ME:3 choices won't be canon anymore. I'd assume they will go with a non-perfect Destroy ending, since Shepard would be dead 600 years ahead anyway, and the Reapers should get defeated since that is like...the driving force of the original series.
Andromeda is a soft reboot. Everything happened the way they did, except the choices which gave alternative solutions are left unknown. We probably will never know what really happened since the crew of the Andromeda project have no way of knowing either. Unless they make it so that the main characters decides to head back to the Milky Way in the "Mass Effect 3" of the Andromeda reboot.
I personally just want them to go back to the Milky Way and explore what has happened after 600 years since ME3. They could make the storyline play according to the possible choices you made in ME1-3.

All I want is to see my crew again after the perfect ending.
This ending will be canon for Mass Effect 4. I really want to keep playing as Shepard in the upcoming one, or at least have him present in the game as a side character or even a squad member. Can't wait

Missed opportunity here for your lover (in my case, Tali) to freak out and start a fistfight in protest of leaving you behind.
"missed opportunity" or just pointless, character breaking nonsense. You've been through so much together with your entire crew, ideally everyone survived a literal suicide mission back in ME2. Everyone back then knew what they were signing up for, knew there was a high chance of none of them making it back out alive. and everyone respected that. there was no "please don't go, it's too dangerous!". Having your romance option break into a struggle / fist fight over an option *you* took, a decision *you* made, would just throw disrespect on that decision, on that option. Everyone knew Shepard made the choice, everyone knew there's a high chance of Shepard not coming back. If anything, your romance option knew that better than anyone. And they still let you go regardless.

I mean I romanced Traynor so I highly doubt she would accept Femsheps death/not wanting to leave her.. but then again Shepard’s alive at the end.. but we don’t get closure with us reuniting with everyone so maybe wanting our lover to break down and protest not leaving Shepard behind is not a bad thing since that’s what people would’ve wanted to do in Tali, Garrus or Traynor’s place yeah...
The ending should have been similar to ME2. You get a lot of help for the crucible, aka do the side quests and get allies, you live. You don't , you dead.

Tali will always be the best romance option. Issue with this ending, is that Edi dies and I rather save my whole team's lives by sacrificing my own. I stick by this in any game and in the real world
This is the only true ending in my opinion. Saren couldn't kill him. The Geth couldn't kill him. The Collector's couldn't kill him. Cerberus couldn't kill him. Why would the Reapers be able to kill the number one badass in the galaxy? Shepard lives, and that is a fact.

I've just played through the trilogy again. Honestly no games have ever had the kind of effect on me that these had. Just such a great story with unbelievable characters. The extended ending was an improvement and it still got me emotional this time round.
I just finished the trilogy. I roleplayed and went for the synthesis. But I cried my eyes out knowing Shepard and Tali won't have that house on the beach. What a ride.
In synthesis they can get the house on the beach, what? what part of synthesis ending denies that?

After over 30 years of gaming I can tell that this the best (and the most touching) connection of music and outro of all games i have been playing. I even have mp3 with this music and i listen it sometimes.

well considering technically shepard "did" survive and andromeda takes place 600 years after ME3 and there is no mention of when/how shep died post ME3 in andromeda i'd speculate to say shep will make some other sort of cameo aside from the memory fragments and N7 armor wether it be more voiced dialogue from femshep/broshep or maybe even ryder meeting shep face to face in some future DLC........ but that's just personal speculation and hopes so dont quote me on it and take it with a grain of salt
Ruby Rachel The Mass Effect team has already stated the trillogy is Shepard's story full-circle. Andromeda and onward is new character territory, they decided this especially with how shitty a team EA gave them for ME3 and how EA twisted everyrhing on its head. For those who don't have the means to have the expansion dlc to enable the extended ending, this game sucked ass. Yes, for the last part of Shepard's storyline it was still done decently... Not the best it could be though.
Those of you who haven't played Andromeda yet, Shepard does have a spoken about cameo as does Garus, his father Castius and Dr. Liara T'soni.

dont mind be but story (which i care most in mass effect) was great in me3. endings was like a little shit about that but i can survive that.
What bothers me more is the rubble he is covered in. The citadel and crucible blew up in space so how did he have air to breathe? Citadel and crucible are made out of metals yet shepard is covered in concrete like rubble AND on a downhill. It just really brings the indoctrination theory back to my head. That shepard never entered citadel and by choosing destroy shepard resists the indoctrination attempt and wakes up in the rubble he was shot by harbinger
After completing Mass Effect Trilogy
and The Witcher Trilogy something happens to you . You become sad and shed some tears coz its finished , but also feel very grateful coz it happened . You get one step closer to know the meaning of life and death .You Grow . You change . This Experience is Unforgettable and will last with me forever .
not the perfect ending when EDI dies or if you played last 2 games over and over again to make peace between Geth and Quarian and all the geth dies at the end
The goal of the war was to stop the Reapers, not make peace with the geth.
Well I finished with syntesis. I worked hard to make all galaxy to fighter together. I got rakni and geth on my side. Killing them is unfair. And if there is no reason for reapers to harvest they pass all the knowleage they gathered to this cycle species. For me green ending is best.
Green ending fucks up the galaxy because we become immortal. That will create a shit ton of problems. You basically ruined the laws of the universe just to appeal to some "know it all" machine a.i. :D
Hurlock alpha I disagree with the green ending, but not because of that "inmortality is bad" argument. (I actually, kinda hate that argument). But because if synthesis IS the real solution of the problem, it shouldn't be imposed by one person. Even if we evolve and trascend, sapient beings will still be insignificant in the cosmos. What is important is that life continues, no matter the form, and maybe some day, if life is preserved and given control over it's fate; life will find meaning amid the cosmos.
I look at it as a solutions to save the lives. I was fighting to erase the need to fight. If there is no longer the reason to fight humanity may use the resources to discover not to fight. For me peace and erasing the reason to killing is best solution. Civis want to live their lives not have to cover in fear every now and than. Good ending cause shepard lives? Sometimes the ultimate sacrifice is the way to protect your cause
Ima be reaching for this ending when I'm at the end of ME legendary edition. ME4 going to to be a long wait but worth it(hopefully)

Not a perfect ending...Destroy kills all the geth and EDI... you also destroy all the relays so you probably put everyone back into the galactic stone age. There is no perfect ending, every ending blows. Its been 4 years and I'm still pissed.
I chose Stone age because reaper would came back again in another millions years
I chose control the first time just to save EDI and the geth
Synthesis is the most peaceful one. As everyone synthetics and Organics, would be able to live in peace and think together as a peaceful Galaxy. In the synthesis no freedom is lost. Everything is normal as before. Its just the man and machine can finally live together.

Tried nearly every romance option on various plays. Tali is my fav. Although FemShep has a hankering for Liara.
I like Garrus as my favourite character, his comments are the best. Second was Mordin, i took him on every away mission.
That moment when you tell Tali how you feel and she gets all flustered...or if you take Legion to Tali's trial (because i'm an awkward bugger).
Best moment...too many, but a stand out is the intro to the first game, i was so excited.
Just started a ME1 fresh playthrough, going to make some different choices and mix it up a little.
I'd have to agree with jackson, 2 was my personal favorite and Tali is my go-to Quarian Waifu.

I remember just turning around and shooting the kid not expecting anything to happen, then got that ending😂
I shot the kid as a joke thinking nothing was going to happen. But when he looked at you and in the deep voice said “so be it” I was terrified, thinking I made the worst choice in the game I just had to sit their and watch my fucked up choice.
@@joenesvick7043 Because it's the worst possible autcome choosing to refuse any of the options . It was a bit lame the fact that they hammered home the " no conventional means will stop the reapers "(allthough we see weapons , and missles doing an ok job of killing them ) and regardless of your EMS withouth the Cruicible the cycle continues .
I completely forgot about the 4th ending. Who would choose that in their right mind? Everybody dies and the andromeda people assume correctly, that there’s no Milky Way to go back to. It’s the apocalypse 😔
