  • The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is finally here, and in this video I’ll be taking a deep dive into many of the features of the brand new S7 MaxV robot vacuum, along with the Ultra Empty Wash Fill dock.
    With the introduction of Reactive AI 2.0 obstacle avoidance, increased suction power and VibraRise mopping system, the S7 MaxV is the flagship robot vacuum from Roborock. And the newly introduced Empty Wash Fill Dock takes robot cleaning automation to a whole new level.
    I test out it's vacuum and mopping performance, the Reactive AI 2.0 obstacle avoidance, along with all new Empty Wash Fill Dock, with automatic emptying, automatic mop washing and water tank refill. It's seriously impressive!

      @@Jacen777 YEP! I still love it and it gets used multiple times a day. I convinced a family member to purchase one and she loves it too!
      I would recommend purchasing a maintenance kit. They sell them on amazon with extra cleaning pads, etc. I keep 4 pads in constant rotation to optimize the moping performance. I also bought a few bottles of the mop water cleaning solution from RoboRock. I was sure how long the bottles would last but one bottle has lasted over 2 months and that's mopping 2-3 times a week and using the recommended dilutions. I think the floor comes out a little cleaner (especially when using 2 or 3x passes) and the water isn't as smelly when I dump it.
      Overall, this unit is a Win!

    My first roomba was the 500 series. I used it for maybe a year, and decided it was a gimmick and no easier than vacuuming myself. I figured robot vacuums were a fad that would never catch on. It needed way too much manual intervention.
    In 2019 I bought an I7+. Now that runs automatically thrice weekly and if I make a mess I ask Alexa to have it do a spot clean. I have been using it for 3 years. I just replaced all of it's brushes and filters and cleaned it's wheels and contacts. It's running like new still. I never vacuum any more. It looks to get trapped under one chair I have, but other than that, needs no manual intervention. I figured this was the epitome of robot vacuums.
    Now it's amazing to see how far we've come in 3 years.

    • @FantaSparta
      @FantaSparta ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Put thick felt pads underneath the legs of that chair? Maybe that small elevation makes it that your robovac won't get stuck.

    • @OrangeUp
      @OrangeUp ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the 500 series is not just a gimmick. It takes away the boring task of cleaning large empty areas of your apartment. For me it is worth it compared with the attention that needs to be given to clean the Roomba. You can also let it run more often than you would ever bother vacuum cleaning yourself.

    Thanks for the review Josh. I’m having trouble choosing a model to suit me. I’ve had a couple of different robot vacuums in the past and want to up grade to a vacuum/mop. I’m concerned about the noise of the emptying and cleaning at dock. (How loud is it and how long does it take.).
    As we’re retired and home most of the time I have not set a schedule in the past. Opting to manually turn it on when we go out. That arrangement is ok but I’d really prefer a schedule and also I want to send to specific places to spot clean. What’s your thoughts please?

    Finally a good review! I would not have smeared the cloth with a pure spilled product but I would have done a test after a normal wash. Do not forget, however, that for washing and vacuuming there is a x2 or a x3 that crosses, making cleaning much more thorough.

    • @iamjoshstunell
      @iamjoshstunell  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mike, the roller brush design is different on the S7 MaxV compared to the S5. It's designed to be less prone to tangles than the older brush design, but I don't have any pets to test it on. The dock does a great job at clearing out the bin, and the filter is almost spotless after it runs.
      Hopefully someone can chime in here with their experience using it with pet hair for you.

    • @iamjoshstunell
      @iamjoshstunell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've done a test on this, and once you set the 'Do Not Disturb' hours, the robot will do the clean, but won't empty the bin or clean the mop, just return to the dock and charge after a clean. You will need to manually tell it to empty the dust bin/clean the mop the following day though. Or you could get around this by doing your midnight clean, and then during waking hours, do a small zone clean, and after that it will go back and empty/clean itself I would think.

    Also does ultra dock re-wet the mop during the autowash? I noticed with S7 that after every 8-10 min, manual rinse is required to re-wet the mop to avoid streaking as the water discharged from the nozzle is more concentrated in middle of the mop. Did you notice any such streaking during the test?

    • @yannick_yt
      @yannick_yt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It does! You can even adjust the frequency in which it'll go back to the station and re-wet it.

    • @iamjoshstunell
      @iamjoshstunell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      As Yannick said, the dock will re-wet the mop during cleaning. You can set a time interval from every 10 minutes to 50 minutes, in 5 minute increments that the robot will head back for a mop clean. Or you can also set the mop to be washed in between rooms, which is how I have it set. So it'll vac and mop my kitchen, return to the dock, clean the mop, and the head to vac and mop the bathroom with a cleaned wet mop.
      I've not noticed any streaking during my use, but I don't have a lot of hard floors to mop to give it a thorough test over a bigger surface area.
      If you set the mop wash frequency to every 10 minutes, I think it will eliminate the manual rinsing you are finding you need to do with the S7.

    • @iamjoshstunell
      @iamjoshstunell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it needs some sort of 3 dimensions and/or contrast to the object for it to be recognised. A flat cable on the carpet could quite easily be mistaken as a pattern on a carpet I guess. If you find it gets tripped up on cables behind your TV cabinet, you could set a no-go zone if needed. I've had 3 firmware updates since getting the S7 MaxV and each one has mentioned about enhancing object recognition, so it's constantly being improved too.

    How does this react to towels on the floor? (I like to leave beach towels down for dog paws at the back door).

    • @iamjoshstunell
      @iamjoshstunell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question, I haven't tried this, but I think it would treat it like carpet. But being a loose towel, its likely to trip the robot up a bit too. I think the best bet would be to just set a no-go zone around where you place the towel to prevent it trapping the robot. This might mean it's not as effective at cleaning all the paw prints off your floor near your back door though too, so a bit of a tradeoff.

    You should probably also tell about some of the glaring faults, like you cant program the vacum without internet connection, a phone, gps location,a forced online account and a forced low security password both on account and your wifi.
    You also have to accept of your info being shared freely with other companies (remember the vacum records video when ever it is used).
    And even in 2.4ghz it don't work with a MASSIVE amount of routers.

    Before I buy a Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, can someone confirm that it is possible to extend an existing map by opening the door to a room that was not open during the initial mapping? THANKS.

    • @iamjoshstunell
      @iamjoshstunell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Dale, this should be possible. I've noticed everytime the S7 MaxV performs a clean, the map will be updated slightly depending on what it finds. Doors open sometimes, closed others, and furniture moved around too. If it doesn't automatically find the room that was previously closed, you can always remote control the vacuum to go there and then it will map it out for you.

    I'd like to know if the brush roll spins on hard floor. If so, does it press embedded dirt in the rubber brushes into the floor surface like sandpaper? Did you see any signs of scratching on your floors? It might not depending on how close the rubber is to the hard floor. Vinyl plank manufacturers say to use a vacuum with the "beater bar" turned off.
    If they want to sell these, they ought to make it easy to make the purchase. No option to purchase on Amazon. Says "Currently unavailable. We don't know when this will be in stock." On the Roborock website, there is no option I can see to add to a cart and check out.
