When the robot is standing and driving on the ground, does the lower brush holder touch the ground on the side small bumps?
Or is it just the rubber brushes that touch the floor?

it would be great if they also provide auto water refill & empty module for s8. I have been using s7+auto water refill & empty module for several months and it works great. Floor cleaning robot should work like washing machine.

I really hope you can remove that mop module. I have to remove it on my s7 else it hits carpet so please let me know if that is still a thing. I also would love confirmation that the water tank isn't removable. We had to remove it from our s7 to clean it before when it got dirty. Excited for your review and to see if the vacuum performance is any better. I saw modern castle rated its vacuum performance identically to the s7 max v.

I got s8 ultra today, OMG what a machine. My floors is so shiny and clean. No bumping around, did not Get stuck. If this machine start yelling and nagging we no longer need wifes.

Can we just get the machín without the big dock?
Exciting! Nice to see companies like RoboRock still innovating at quite a rapid pace. This looks good but I have one specific concern and it’s to do with the “Vibrarise 2.0” upgrade.
I hope I’m wrong but I have a horrible feeling that it might only be “vibra 2.0” with no “rise 2.0” i.e. they’ve improved the vibration mechanism for better mopping (and that’s great) but they haven’t been able to re-engineer the lifting mechanism to give it more clearance above the surface of a carpet when it has its mopping pad raised. A lot of the s7 V Ultra reviews that I’ve seen/read have mentioned that the clearance when the mop pad is lifted isn’t quite enough even on medium-ish pile carpets to avoid the carpet getting slightly damp especially when transitioning from a hard floor onto a carpet. I had really hoped that the next generation would add a few extra mm of clearance when the mop is lifted. I’d be really grateful if, when you do your full review, you could take a careful look at that to see if my fears are unfounded. Thanks
According to the specs, both S8 Pro and S7 MaxV lift the mop pad 5mm, so at this stage there isn't any improvement there. I'll get the ruler out and have a measure though! One thing I have noticed, the wheels on the S8 are wider than before, so perhaps it won't 'sink' into medium-ish pile carpet as much as before. Definitely something I'll test out!

It’s a shame that the Roborock engineers couldn’t find a way to get even an extra 1 or 2mm of clearance because from the reviews I have read the contact with the carpet is really slight in most cases so that lift mechanism is so close to 100% accomplishing its goal on most medium pile carpets. As you say, perhaps the wider wheels will help. Even if they don’t the wider wheels sound good. All my later robots including my current Ecovacs T8 AIVI+ clean in predictable patterns so over the weeks and months of daily runs the wheels gradually carve indents in the carpets near the walls due to the initial perimeter sweep. I just ignore them now although sometimes when they bug me I rub the carpet to get the pile back in line with the rest of the carpet. It would be nice if these wider wheels also mean that the track marks around the edge of a carpeted room become less of an issue for people who run daily cleans on the same rooms.
Hey. What about the difference in side brush? Seems like they went with the older design. Do you think this will catch dust and scratch floors easily.

How good is the mop pad cleaning? Does it take long to dry? I have the basic s7 and the mop pad gets very smelly after a mopping run if you don't remove it with a few hours

No Camera on the Roborock s8 pro ultra?
Is it possible to pull out the rag along with
the platform (like the roborock s7 series) or
can only pull out the rag. Thank you
The platform is not removable on the S8 Pro Ultra. I was a bit surprised to see this change, but I can only assume it's due to the additional vibration portion needed for VibraRise 2.0.
On the S8 and S8+ it looks like the mopping platform is removable like the S7 series.

Where can i get it in the UK?
How do you clean multiple floors, there's no way I'd get 3 base stations. How do they want you to handle that with roborock? Just put the vacuum on the floor and hit go (without a floor plan)?
My S7 automatically recognizes and saves multiple floor plans. So yes, just carry it to another floor and press start. I assume the S8 is the same.
@@WilfredvanderDeijl It doesn't need to start from a base station to recognize and do the floor properly? Just place it somewhere and let it go? I've never had one of these new fancy ones, but I assume if it needed to empty, recharge, or get more water, that could be problematic. But perhaps those things aren't usually necessary.
@@michaelbitter7682 I have the auto-empty dock with the S7. The vacuum will announce it is looking for the dock after finishing the entire second floor and then announce it can’t find the dock and then just sit there. Not sure what the S8 will do if it wants to clean the mop during a clean of the second floor. Mine is easier as it only needs the doc after finishing the entire floor.

Hi Jan, probably one of the Q5 or Q7 series. The Q5 has no mopping function, and the Q7 has fairly basic mopping function, but you don't have to use it if you prefer not to.
Can I use voice assistant to direct it to a specific room?

From Malaysia Roborock S 7 only lasted for 16 months the machine cannot function. Got to send to KL from Penang by courier for service…still awaiting for response from Z Roborock company. Cumbersome as there is no service Centre in other places except in KL. Better get Xiomi with service Centre’s all over..
Interested to know if the base station is any quieter when emptying the robot and if the hot air drying makes any noise.

@@iamjoshstunell Can you also test with a wattmeter how much electricity does the dock pull out of the socket during different actions like stand by, charging, emptying, refilling, cleaning and drying? I think I heard somewhere that drying can take hours and that it is not like a hair dryier design blowing hot air onto the mop, but rather just warming the mop to speed up drying (I wonder if it makes the room it sits in warmer and if during summer months you dont want to dry the mop in your living room due to heat produced.
And of course the double brush is super interesting, iRobots have had it patented till now and it is basically their main and only feature, as they only need half the CFM airflow to achieve same cleaning performance as single brush roborocks, so iRobots are much quieter and save a lot of battery. So I wonder if the S8 in quiet mode cleans as well as the S7 on max mode. I imagine the dual brush is especially useful for longer dog hair, like a husky or a golden retriever, or a cat, do you have an option to test it in a home with one or more dogs/cats? Because tests using fruit loops and such are stupid, every vacuum is gonna pick up bigger stuff, but I wonder mainly about animal and human hair and fine dirt/sand etc. Thanks.
Received today, used 6 hours
1. Camera cannot be accessed remotely . Important for me, totally ok with someone else
2. Cannot climb on hile pile carpet. Mine is about 3 cm high. After manually lift on the carpet working good, no human hair remain behind, no debrits, fleasant feeling when i touched carpet, no water on the carpet. So, for my 3 cm high carpet, with one wheel on the carpet and one wheel on the floor easy succeed to return to the carpet
3. Editing rooms wall is a nightmare, practically you cannot do it easy, need to spend about 5 minutes to edit a room. Walls you cannot edit.
4. Furniture library very limited and scaling of available furniture is limited. I have very big sofa and wardrobe ...cannot scale
5. Have option to add carpet area ... very petty that you cannot rotate, not everybody have carpet oriented parallel with walls. Option to add carpet zone just rectangle/square carpet figure and allways relative to vertical and orizontal phone axis not to room axis.
6. Very good obstacle avoidance but catch cables. What i really liked is that when arrive in vecinity of an obstacle reduce the speed so much that even if there is a touch with obstacle is very very gentle
7. Good battery, used 3% and 8 m8nutes to scan an apartment with 45 m2
8. Small pieces of carpet are ignored, goes over them and in 98% will catch them with rollers
9. Very quiet comparing with others which i saw during presentations in various shops before. On low vacuum mode you can easly sleep, on boost carpet vacuum mode make same noise like other in low or normal mode
10. Very practical solution with mop lifting, working good
11. Surface recognition is good and program have option to set individual the type of flooring for each room or defined areas
12. Object identification is good but is not perfect ... confused high boots with sneakers. Not that this mather but when you have the crown and want to keep it you need to pay attention to details ;)

My S7 is easily performed by a much older Neato vac. The vacuum pick up ability of this vacuum is horrible. Maybe the two roller design will help but again I’m talking some of the worst performance I’ve ever seen in the last 10 years… Complete garbage. I wouldn’t trust this company.
Non removable mop pad and non removable water tank ! Why ? As usual a step forward and two steps backwards.
He removed the pad?
They are both self cleaning but we will have to see in real world usage if those work.
