    Excellent explanation and details to this overhaul. I have the same unit and within the past year or so has developed an oil leak. I would overhaul it as intensely as you did. However mine is I'm guessing over 12 years old. Overhaul parts plus a new trimmer head would be at $150. I can with a clear conscience say that I can give it a "proper burial" and move on to a new one. Either way, it was great watching your breakdown and rebuild, thank you.

      Curious where your oil leak is? Mine has one also and I can't pinpoint it. Seems to be around the base of the filler neck, but also I get some oil underneath the trimmer when I lay it down. Just not sure..

      A new one from HD with a string trimmer is $230. Less with a discount.

    Thanks for making this video. I tore mine down and cleaned it all up, including the carb. Soaked the carb overnight in Seafoam. Put it all back together with new lines and gaskets and it runs great again. Idles great and doesn't want to die out. Thanks again!!

    I'm rebuilding a Troy-Bilt tb6044 XP trimmer weed-whacker I can't remember where it was how to put the fuel lines in which what position what line goes where

    Thanks for a great video, well-paced and detailed videography. That you call out tools along the way, nice technique. Interestingly enough the Troy-Built site does not even show any manuals for this model so I went of course to the WEB and then TH-cam. You may be the top hit. I thought I'd get away with a simple Starter Mech to get mine working (the pull starter wasn't working). After I pulled it apart, I found my "Metal Pawl" equipped Engine Oil Pan/Fan interface had a circlip and Pawl missing. I'll do the "parts required" balance as Temuba below indicates but it's a good machine and I have the attachments so I will probably go for the rebuild on the Trimmer and get the parts to bring that POS (I would have thought the quality of that brand would have been better) Cub Cadet Tractor back to spec as well. Thanks again. "Like & Subscribed". Brad

    Great video can you please explain where the lines that run from the carburetor and the tank as to where they attach to the primer bulb? As far as to the short or long tube on the primer bulb?

      One goes to the fuel tank and the others to the carburator, the fuel tank line belongs in the center position if I recall correctly.

    Please just post part numbers and where you found them as Amazon changes it links, so yours are outdated. And more lighting in video, can't see everything. Thanks, Excellent video

      TH-cam channels post Amazon links bc it one of the only ways they can make any money for their work, so asking him to not post links and post part number instead means he’s working for free

    You keep saying MTV, what do they have to do with this ? And you said there was a place on the Troy-Bilt web site showing the teardown, can you find it again and post it please. I can not find it.

    Where did you get the fuel line repair kit from? That's exactly what I need.

    Very helpful, I just bought a used 4066xp and the pull start mech is destroyed. I would like the part numbers for the replacement oil pan assembly you installed with the (metal dogs) please. Thanks and I enjoyed your video

    U might need a monitor on your workbench so u can see how much of the picture you are blocking when you note some important detail that is just what some guy needed to see..but..you blocked from view.

    Can you just buy the gasket?

    • @OnTheWorkbench
      @OnTheWorkbench  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sure you could, but the cost of the whole carburetor assembly is just under $20 and considering the disassembly and reassembly time, I think it makes sense to replace the entire assembly... unless you are a small engine shop and need to stock a bunch of gaskets to have on hand in case you tear one during a repair.
