The same here....I was about to undo the springs in the hope something else would present itself .....duh....never would have guessed that it screwed off...about the only suggestion to the video to make an 11 out of 10 is to mention what size torx driver is holding the clutch outer, and possibly if you should use loctite for any of the screws... Thank you this video saved me...will subscribe...never know when I will need you again

Dish soap is something everyone has, but dielectric grease is sold for $5-6 at home improvement stores in the automotive department with RTV & Epoxies are sold. Apply the clear grease to the inlet of the boot. Grab the coil wire with needle nose or other pliers that fit. (Caution; Do less pinching and more pushing. This keep from damaging the wire. Dielectric grease can be used on automotive light bulbs, terminals inside connectors, flashlights even fire alarms. It prevents moisture from oxidation and high resistance that will cause failures. 12Vdc or 120Va/c works, but 120 Va/c should be left to a qualified technician.
Starting, place on ground or solid raised surface as to keep the string head/spook off the ground or contact. Important; Push in on the primer bulb, air is removed from the supply during storage. Watch the hoses. One, usually the smaller, will have bubbles. Once bubble stop, the line is full and the carb has a correct supply of fuel. If pushing the primer bulb does not remove air bubbles, open gas cap, use funnel if handy and empty into your two stoke fuel can. Inspect the lines inside the tank. If the long larger line is broken, you will see a short hose with a cylinder filter loose. The lines can be replaced at home with line kits. Single lines can be purchased, but take the old one that broke to match size.
Storage; Unlike a 4 stroke that does not use oil in the fuel, 2 strokes do need oil mix. “Fuel-Stabil” can be added for a short or extended time protection. Two strokes can have fuel-stabil added to tank & container. Run your 2 stroke for two minutes, shut off. Let cool then use a funnel and drain the fuel out. Push on the primer bulb a number of times to empty.
This will help extend the life of these hoses as additives in fuel, sometimes ethanol may attack the hose and they will break easier. 4 strokes do not have this issue. Add the stabil as directed for short or long-term storage, perhaps a log splitter that go two years with out use. Run for 4-5 minutes until a sweet-smell is noticed. Start it one per year if not used and let run 10 minutes after checking oil first. Drain the fuel and reuse it in large container with fresh fuel. Add stabil to the large canvas most fuel start to loose the ability to create the same power as new, after 3 month. 90 days is the start as fuel stabil creates a barrier on top to help prevent evaporating, plus it keeps the fuel alive for months. My generator is started every year. I have a tag on it to mark down that date. Drain is easy on some, hard on others. Buy a marine tank hose complete. Remove the ends off and note the arrow on the bulb that fuel flows. Wrap masking tape and mark with sharpie. Squeezing the bulb will remove fuel into large container with fresh fuel & stabil in it. Use in a vehicle and fill tank and portable tank. This rotates fuel from power equipment to vehicle to gas station. Burn what you pay for and never ever dump it on weeds or tree stump. Re-use it. Buy tags for your air compressed log splitter, snow blower/thrower (There is a difference). Best of luck. As rebuild a carburetor for 2 stoke or 4 stroke is reaching from $80 - $160 depending on where you live. I should know, it is work. ASE Master Tech since 1978 - Retired
(Certified in all 8 automotive areas / re-cert happens every 5 years) L1 is 100 questions, I got 99% correct. Mid-read one of them) Best of luck everyone.
Maybe turn signal will be on all new vehicles next year! Lol.

Where did you get that nice set of torx bits?

The ignition coil is wrongly called a module, their are no electronics inside the case. The term “Magnito” come from vehicles made in the 1900. As the magnets pass the laminated iron core, it causes electrons to move using mutual induction. The size or wire, length and size determines how much voltage is produced. Electrons in motion is potential and measured by volts. The wire is wound in the direction allowing negatively charged electrons to overcome the air gap, length of plug wire, and the air/fuel mixture. The other end exists the coil, connected to a wire to a kill switch, that returns to ground, stopping the spark by giving it another place to go. The amperage is so low, it can not hurt you, only the high voltage stings. This is a simple system as long as the wire does not open, plug wire insulation does not break down or opens when hot inside phenolic plastic housing. A flat bare screw drive works on certain models but use a “TORX 20” extra long. Just a few thoughts from a certified ASE Master Tech since 1978 as I also worked on small engines and motorcycles!

Will it run without the 2 gaskets?

Was there really any reason to take the back cover and electric start part off for this?

    • @JW86SH
      @JW86SH 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, since one of the screws on the rear cover attaches it to the front cover (not the clutch cover).

What size is the clutch drum bolt? I can't find a hex head that'll fit it

It might way to late for this answer, but you need a #21 Torx driver.

Disassembly went well until the clutch housing. He uses a phillips head screwdriver and mine has no such screw. Rather it has a small round female fitting that is smooth and round and no tool will remove it. Can anyone help me with this? I am at a stop.

What size is the bit to remove the clutch drum?

I did it yesterday and it took a very slim T20 bit on my Troybilt. Great video, especially gapping the new coil.

If this is a serious question....ha ha.....It is to ignite the fuel...the poster already said it produces a spark!

The problem that I have is.... where the switch wire is run through so that it reaches back to the switch....no one points out little things like that and there are not so obvious.
