Fast, Easy adjustment of Troy Built 4 Cycle weed eater

Simple way to adjust valve clearance on a 4 cycle weed eater that was difficult to start.

I have two 4 cycle Troy-Bilts. one starts easy, the other takes at least 5 pulls. I will check the valve lash tomorrow.

Instead of doing one at a time, couldn’t you just get the piston up on the compression stroke and do both?
Actually, looks like that is what you did when you did the final adjustment.
Btw, what symptom did it have?

Thanks for the video DJ, very helpful. On mine, I broke the blue lever that controls the air flow, with a bad pull of the starter rope gone wild. By chance, do you know a supplier that might sell these? I haven't had any luck locating one. Troy built website says its discontinued. Thanks again for the video.

Talking about the choke lever? Probably try a mower junkyard. There might be another model or brand that the part possibly crosses over to as well.

Im not so sure you know what you are doing!! What you did was NOT the proper way to adjust valves,
The proper way is to get the piston to Top Dead Center on the compression stroke, then adjust both valves, DONE!
