This one certainly does it for me. My eyes water. At my father's funeral (retired Marine) there was an honor guard that fired off a salute from their rifles after the service. I paid $200 extra for a bagpipe salute as well. "Amazing Grace" played on a solo bagpipe is one of the most haunting sounds, so moving, so touching. That tore me up, hearing that piece. As a funeral is was a good one. Except for having to lose my father for it. Oh well, soon enough it'll be my turn. And I know now something I never said during his lifetime. I will never be the man he was.

He is a once in a lifetime artist/person and we will probably NEVER see anyone else come even close. Elvis can cross all genres and do an exceptional job in every one.

I saw Elvis in concert when I was very young, in Charlotte NC. He had such a presence on stage, you could feel his energy. People loved him. He was very spiritual, and some people don’t realize he was a 7th degree black belt in karate. In interviews, he said it wasn’t to learn to fight, it was about the self discipline, the meditation and even mental and spiritual strength he got from it. He was a loving and a caring human being. I’ll always love his music.

Elvis Presley is an amazingly talented singer/performing artist (1935-1977). He loved America and was a true patriot. He served in the US Army for two years. He grew up in Mississippi and Memphis, TN (Memphis is his final resting place). He had a deep-seated caring for other's (very empathic person and sensitive to other's feelings), and particularly those that lived in poverty, as he understood very clearly the impact that poverty can have on a person's life since he too grew up poor.

His back up singers said, "you can't take your eyes off him because you never know what he's going to do next" He had total control at all times. I remember watching this concert, Aloha From Hawaii, first concert ever broadcast via satellite. I was 7 years old that year, 1973. My daddy was a musician and his band had played on the Louisiana Hayride on the same bill as Elvis. Daddy always said that Elvis was one of the nicest people he'd ever met, and he met a lot, lol! When Elvis went Home I actually saw my daddy cry, and that's something most Southern men rarely did back then. I know every note of this, we had it on 8 track tape, and mama would play it a lot cleaning house. As I got older, I researched the 3 songs and was blown away again by the fantastic arrangement. I miss Elvis, and I miss my daddy, so I generally get up all in my feels when I hear this song. 46 years later and it still gives me goosies.

Elvis made the world see Gospel music as something that belongs to be free not just in church. He showed unity before it was cool and he also showed that sex was not something we should hide it's a part of being human. He opened so many doors. He made white people love black music and by doing that he opened another door. The dream is that someday we will all love each other no matter the race or religion. One love.

@@christinewilkinson2424 Elvis was/is the best, but he unfortunately epitomized the "ying-yang" effect in that as great as he was, for someone who seemingly had it all, he was surrounded by "yes" men, became a prisoner in his own home--when asked what he missed most, Elvis said he wished he could just walk around his neighborhood, but couldn't, as people would swarm to him like locust--he grew to be a VERY lonely man, and died on the toilet. His life ended up being a really sad existence in the latter half of his life.
There's a video of a bloated Elvis, obviously in poor health, singing "My Way" just a few months before he died, and during the song you can clearly see tears running down his face, as though he knew he wasn't long for this world. VERY sad to watch, and heartbreaking to witness.

As a southern, 50 year old man, I should point out to those who don't understand. What may have a specific meaning to you doesn't necessarily have the same meaning for others. That's a serious problem with people today...you can't see outside of your self. Dixieland doesn't represent something that happened 160 years ago to me or my friends. It represents the rolling Blue Ridge mountains, summer days swimming in the James River, field parties with my friends in high school. It represents my region, my family, and my culture. I'm American by birth but Southern by the Grace of God. As Big J has opened his mind to all this different kind of music, let's open our minds to each other. Please.
