I was 14 when Elvis died. I spent a week in my room crying. It was so bad that my dad took me to wire my condolences to his father. He thought it would help. I had loved Elvis since I was four and wore out Return to sender. A few short weeks ago, I had the shock of my life. I submitted my DNA and found out that Elvis is my 9th cousin through my dad’s paternal line. Our shared grandparents are James Howard and Mary Traliaferro. I know that’s a distant cousin, but he is still my cousin and I am so honored. When I get to heaven and give Jesus a jillion kisses along with my close family. I’m going to hug and kiss Elvis. Thank you for your beautiful reaction. You are right. Elvis was just a part of most people who lived when he did that we just couldn’t let go of. He was a part of all our DNA.

Im gonna be 18. 12 September. Im a Gipsy. Grown up with old music my father loves elvis and i do too. Elvis is my and my fathers nr1. Elvis The Best Ever
I was in my car, about a couple of blocks away from home, when a kid riding along side me, yelled out "Elvis is dead". I immediately turned my car around and drove home, I could not go anywhere, I listened to the news and heard Elvis being played endlessly on the radio for days. I was literally shaking from the sadness. I loved Elvis, I collected all his cards and records, I listened intently for his next hit record, he meant more to me than any other entertainer. In those days, parents disciplined their kids. Elvis sang "Don't Be Cruel" and that stopped. if ever I had someone to look up too, it was Elvis. I loved him for who he was, I'll forever miss him. May he rest in peace. Thank you for liking him too.
Paul Simon who wrote and sung the original version heard Elvis's take on made and interesting comment, he said he thought it was a little dramatic but how in the hell can I compete with that?-----he knew his song was taken to another level by Elvis
I remember driving home from Houston to Lubbock when it came on the radio that Elvis had died. I was shocked, literally. I could no longer drive I pulled over and wept. It was surreal.
Luciano Pavarotti once said that if Elvis it had any classical vocal training that he might well have been one of the greatest opera singers of the century. You can certainly hear that in this song. He was just beyond talented. It still blows my mind today.
In my 71 years on this earth there will never be a more comforting voice to fill me up with so much emotion then Elvis. He was a once in a lifetime gift. Thanks Jamel ♡
I’m almost 65 and I’m just now understanding why he was as loved and respected. My mom was a huge fan of his, she had so many of albums and when a new movie of his came out, we’d have to go see it, my dad, three younger brothers thought we were being tortured. I see how much of himself he put into everything he did.
Bridge Over Troubled Waters is a great vocal performance by Elvis powerful and soulful 1970 this is his best year of the 70s he was in good physical and vocal condition around this time much better in 1970 than 1977 great performance should have won award for this
Elvis by far the greatest entertainer/singer/performer. But what’s even more important is how incredible of a person he was. Elvis gave at least half of his money to others and charities. If you take the time to watch and listen to the many videos out there with his family and friends. It’s truly astounding how he helped people and donated to charities. If he had it, he shared it. Such an incredible human being. One dear friend of his described Elvis as second to Jesus, that there was not a better man that walked the earth other than Jesus. Pretty incredible description. Tears still flow down my face with certain songs of his when he performs them. I’m still in awe of Elvis. Truly timeless. I’m so glad the younger generation is giving a listen to Elvis. May he carry on forever.
Elvis Presley said if his gospel music brought one person to accept Jesus Christ as Saviour then his efforts were worth it. Elvis Presley didn't like to be referred to as " king" and often told his fans from the stage not to refer to him as such and that only Jesus Christ is King.
That's absolutely right! I believe when he would sing gospel he knew who he was singing it too. He seemed to have such a love and passion for Jesus Christ and always let people know who he was singing about.
Yes you are correct. And it’s a shame it is not talked about very often in Elvis memorial videos. I also heard him one time when called the King of Rock and Roll, he said no, that would be BB King. When referred to as just the king, he said no, there’s only one king and that’s Jesus Christ.
Elvis had some soul. He goes with the Gospel Choir that is backing him up like a duck goes with water. Paul Simon once described the melody to Bridge Over Troubled Waters as Gospel piano. Elvis and this Gospel choir showed that beautifully.
I agree 100% And that was pure organic talent. There was no auto tune and the bullshit technology they use today. Today these artists are all manufactured, half of them don’t even sing in “live” shows, they lip-synch, like Madonna & Brittany Spears.

You are such a cool dude man. Elvis was great in soo many ways. He wanted and had the best band members, back-up singers, (one of them was Whitney Houstons Mom). He loved his audience and gave them everything he had every time he was on stage. He had many faults but a heart of gold. Gave to charities demanded they not mention him. Bought his close friends gifts and cars. He shared his success with many people. The tragedy was that he left us at just 42yrs old.
Clyde Barrow That’s for sure! The Sweet Inspirations(wich Cissy was, off course, a part of)also backed up, for example, Aretha Franklin. But also sang on Jimi Hendrix’ The Burning Of The Midnight lamp wich was one of the tracks on his fenomenal double-album Electric Ladyland. His last withe the Experience- and last official album during his lifetime.
He was a GIFT his HEART was doing the singing. An amazing gift angel, was here for short time,,BUT he had a special gift FOR ALL of us,everyone, planet!!

Hey....I am 27 and Elvis has millions of young fans....my parents were fans. Elvis had charisma, passion, looks, compassion and that voice.Heart and soul. Thank you for really honest reactions.

My grandma would of left my granpa if Elvis called...lol... EPIC dude..Rock On..😎🎧🇺🇸😘🤟🏻🤘🏻✌🏻
He emptied the tank every performance. I saw him in Texas. I was 19 & I believe he was 39. I didn’t want to miss a moment. Stage presence was out of this world & he looked like a Greek god. I knew I’d witnessed a special performer.
One of a kind, Elvis!!!!
Great reaction! He has been gone 42 years and he is still making fans. The "King" label was legit.
