- Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 have been proven to be beatable without defeating a badnik, so how about our adventure through Little Planet? So today, we are going through Sonic CD with one goal in mind, to beat the game without defeating a badnik.

Apparently, the mantis that "already threw it's weapon" is actually suppose to be like that!
Sonic CD's time travel mechanic works on enemies as well - specifically, badniks in the past will always be in perfect condition, present badniks will be in *mostly* good condition, and most future badniks won't be working.
The more you know, correct me if I'm wrong on any details.

For me I think in future, there should different locations for badniks and they be slightly more powerful
It is GMC but future sonic busted them up in the present destroying parts of them making their condition worst

In the final fever there’s no actual badniks. Sorry meant there’s no badniks for the first part of metallic madness the second part your forced to fight them even if you in the good future
Honestly, your rule about it being okay to defeat bosses makes me think that it's okay to defeat those three lightning bug boys. That's a pretty clear-cut mini-boss fight, even if the bosses in question are just ordinary badniks. Having said that, I appreciate the dedication to an unimpeachable stance! Good luck on the next one.

Fun fact, all of the Sonic CD rounds except Wacky Workbench are arguable just more colorful versions of Sonic 1 stages.

Star Light -> Stardust Speedway
Scrap Brain -> Metallic Madness
They are derived from Sonic 1, but still find a way to stand out, visually. I think it's great.

You know what's weird about the platform stilts? They appear in Mania but not in Metallic Madness, even though it appears as well. They were put in Lava Reef instead. That's not the only mechanic from Metallic Madness that got moved to a different Zone either, the multidirectional tubes were used in Chemical Plant instead.

If those badniks are required to face the boss no matter what, then it should be possible because they aren’t normal enemies that just give points and spawn flowers, they are a part of the boss, so by all means it IS possible

The enemies you have to beat to unlock a room in Sonic Rush games count as a type of a boss ?

You may be able to trigger the boss spawn through manipulating the trigger itself. One thing to mention, is that the boss spawn is linked to the door, so if you can open the door without killing the enemies you could fight the boss (I'm pretty sure)
You could maybe manipulate the game into thinking YOUR death is the enemy's death therefore the door opens the next time you go to it. This is all just a theory tho.

You’re right, about the pc version. It is possible to beat sonic cd without defeating a badnik, just not for the pc version. So you should have said: “is it possible to beat sonic cd without defeating a single badnik? Yes, but only if you have the original for Sega cd.”
Well the PC version is the one released in 1996, so it's a direct port of the Sega CD original, with some performance improvements. That's why the phasing through wall glitch still works.

I just did this challenge and it is EXTREMELY easy besides the impossible room. Even wacky workbench isn't too bad if you stay low and jump between platforms.
Also you can just jump out of the ice from the ww air vents without taking damage, making them very useful.
All zones I know that have purple juice:tidal tempest bad future,aquatic ruin bad future

In sonic CD if you run at max speed running into a badnick in any way defeats it even if you didn't attack it so you must have changed to maximum speed when you damage boosted
Having those three badniks right before the final boss of the game is still the most evil thing Robotnik has ever done.

When I'm not sure, I look at the score when I start each attempt, then look when I need to. If it changes during the level, then I know to restart.

Another one that's completely impossible: Sonic Heroes, Hero Story/True Ending. Maniac Mansion has a segment where Sonic has to use his homing attack across several enemies to cross a bottomless pit.

I recently did my first good ending run for Sonic CD and I was going for robot generators and, long story short, I hate wacky workbench as well
It is not a fun zone.
Wacky Workbench is definitely the worst zone, especially act one

One other thing you didn't seem to realize about Sonic CD's mechanics is that you can avoid taking damage from the freezers in Wacky Workbench simply by timing a jump right when the ice block you're stuck in hits the ground. Not sure if that would've made it easier to run through this challenge, but it's worth knowing none-the-less.

I haven't seen a playthrough of this game before so I didn't know about those 3 enemys and I thought you would beable to make it to the end. also sence you were at the end of the game you didn't have to play any more to find the minimum number of enemys you had to destroy@@GottaBeFrank
You have to watch TAS of this game, it uses level wrap into the boss in last act. So it might be possible
Every TAS I've seen of it shows the Hotaru rooms because the boss will not spawn until they are defeated.

Question: Do you prefer the US or JP soundtrack? For this video, the music switches. You used the JP music for background music in Palmtree Panic, and the JP good future music for Collision Chaos, but Tidal Tempest and Quartz Quadrant have their US counterparts for background music and so forth.
I like both, but I prefer the Japanese soundtrack. My choices for music in the video is just picking my favorites from both soundtracks, or picking something that fits that part of the video.

In sonic mania. The fire fly mod boss can be beaten if you wait the fire fly after a few hits
It is technically possible to beat the game if you're on PC or Mobile versions were even if you do clip through you can still activate the boss
Wacky Workbench is nowhere near the hell that is Labyrinth, Metropolis, Sandopolis, Wing Fortress, Stardust Speedway CD, Metallic Madness CD, et cetera. Unless you were talking about exactly this type of runs (no destroying badniks)
