    Oh and one more thing: When you drive up behind people walking in the road, they will have no idea you are there because Tesla’s are so quiet. That’s a fun one. Beep and you scare them, do nothing and you drive 2mph until they notice you. Never expected that when buying a Tesla!

    Mercedes also has this since 2012 and I can tell that whenever I try to drive any other car, same thing happens to me. The good thing is that if I ever decide to sell my E- class coupe , and buy a tesla, it won’t be hard to get used to it. Well never mind, I can only dream for now because there aren’t any superchargers in my country.

  • @LloydM
    @LloydM 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Getting used to the braking was the biggest thing to get used to. In an ICE car, you just let off the gas and cruise until you hit the brakes at a stop sign or light. With Tesla, you have to let off the accelerator slowly to achieve the same result. It's weird feeling at first.
    And you don't need a level 2 charger. You can get by on a regular 110v outlet, as long as you aren't driving more than 50 miles in a day. Minus using the AC or heater. That will effect battery.

  • @Blah-blah-sure
    @Blah-blah-sure 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Thanks, what most reviews fail to mention about charging these types of cars is that you don't necessarily run the battery down till depletion so that a 110/120 setup can do just fine. Also, is the range somewhat consistent. Ex. If your car is rated for 310 and you drive 50mi. Are you often left with 260mi.?

    • @ThatTeslaChannel
      @ThatTeslaChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great point! The other big thing is that it's best practice to charge only to 80% or 90% on a daily basis. Before long trips, charging to 100% is fine however. With that said, I usually charge to about 80% daily and have about 260 miles range every morning. If I drive 50 miles that day, I'm left with about 210 miles range at the end of the day. I hope that helps clarify!

    I don't think the steeting adjustment makes the steering any tighter or looser. What it does is increases the resistence to turning to give it the artificial impression of being tighter. It's not adjusting the steering ratio. I think you'll find it's still the amount of steering lock to lock on each setting

    • @ThatTeslaChannel
      @ThatTeslaChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's exactly right. It's pretty awesome that they can artificially do that. Impressive!

    Great video! How about self driving? I know that Tesla is ahead of the game in self driving. I heard that Ford, GM and all other companies are also working on the self driving technology and are trying to catch up to Tesla with that feature. I know that someday, when motor vehicles are completely fully autonomous self driving, people will trust it, laws will be changed and there will be no more accidents, no more speeding tickets, no more stop sign/red light running tickets, no more DUIs, no more distracted driving, no more texting while driving tickets, no more idiots swerving in & out of traffic and no more road kills. I know with self driving vehicles, everyone will have an easy way to get around, including the elderly and disabled or who ever has difficulty getting around. I bet a lot of people would like to have a vehicle that fully drives itself, so that they can go out drinking or what ever. I would like to have a car that fully drives itself, so that it can drive me home drunk. What's the point of needing a drivers license, when you can get a self driving car lol? Once motor vehicles are completely fully autonomous self driving, you will no longer need a drivers license. You can just get a riders license instead and you can just ride instead of drive. I know you're going to need a drivers license for a flying car. I know there won't be just self driving cars. There will be self driving trucks too and probably self driving RVs and motorcycles also. With self driving vehicles, you won’t have to pay for insurance. More charging stations need to be built for electric and plug in hybrid vehicles.

    Having not driven one yet, is the regen braking more deceleration than taking your foot off the gas in a car with a manual transmission? Essentially engine braking. Just curious

    • @ThatTeslaChannel
      @ThatTeslaChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! Yes much more. Once you get the feel for it, you can lift your foot from the accelerator only as much as you want to slow down. If you lift your foot from the accelerator entirely then it feels like you are hitting the brakes hard (great for when you see a cop, or someone cuts you off, because the braking response time is much faster than a gas car).

      You're welcome Tammy, I hope it's helpful! I'm 1 year in and have only spent about $60 in maintenance so far. I think overall, maintenance on a Tesla will be far less than any traditional car.

    If you are coming from a high end German car or even a Range Rover the model 3 while pretty cool feels cheap quickly. I like the car but doesn't rank in my top 5 which came as a bit of a surprise. And yes charging does become a hassle at times but all and all a good car for 40k, just depends what you drove prior

    I’m thinking about buying one next month and doing my research on them now. Does the charge at home sky rocket your electricity bill?

    • @ThatTeslaChannel
      @ThatTeslaChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Right on! Great question! In short, no they do not. My Electric bill went from about $75/mo to about $100/mo. (and that's with about 50 miles per day, charging every night). I hope that helps!

      Establish a good/great credit history, have a substantial down payment ($4k for a $40k is pretty good), and be prepared to pay about $699 a month. This is of course if you plan on a cheaper Tesla and not including the costs of insurance per month.
      A higher paying job would help, but without a college degree it can be difficult to make that much a month with just one job. Especially as a teenager. So multiple jobs may be required. It seems like a lot, but it’s definitely doable with the proper planning, motivation, and lack of other bills. Good luck, and I hope you’re able to get one!!

    • @Nonsense116
      @Nonsense116 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@icephoenix3565 No I ended up deciding against it. My mentality was "Sure a tesla is in my budget. But do I want a car that's in my budget or REALLY in my budget." I grew up in a low income environment so I've adopted a mentality of frugality and that has stuck with me even now that I'm in a much better financial situation. I still splurged a lot more than normal. I ended up getting a 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid. It's cleaner than a normal full gas car plus I get 40mpg!

    Great video, except that I disagree with your statement that the maintenance on a Model 3 is like an ICE vehicle and believe that this portion of your video is misleading. From my research and experience (I drive a Model 3), the maintenance required is WAY LESS than other vehicles. This was a major selling point for me. No oil changes, no regular fluid maintenance of any kind, almost ZERO brake pad replacement because of the regen motor braking, and, over the life of the vehicle, there will be WAY FEWER large maintenance issues because of the significantly lower number of moving parts in a Tesla( and the almost-frictionless motor). The only regular maintenance that matches up with an ICE vehicle are tires, cabin air filters, and windshield wipers/fluid.
