Ceramic Coating does not help with rocks and only helps clean off bugs. PPF is what you'd want to help deflect minor rock impacts and prevent acidic wear and tear from bugs.

In the Sacramento area, installation of a 240v charger costs $600, but the local electric utility provides a $600 rebate! So--Free, thanks to the Sacramento Municipal Utility District.
You can change that 20 amp 120 volt outlet to a 20 amp 240 volt outlet. You just change the connector on one end and a 240 volt (double-pole) breaker on the other end. You can use the existing wiring. According to info on Tesla’s website, your charge rate will go from 4 mile/hour to 14 miles/hour. 240 volt charging is more efficient. Tesla offers a connector for 20 amp 240 volts for about $35. Everyone says you have to go to at least 32 amps of 240, that may be good, but not if it doesn’t work for you.
This is technically true, but be extremely careful with this! Outlets are often daisy chained, so make 100% sure there is ONLY THE ONE outlet on that circuit or you'll blow up anything else connected and be in major NEC violation. As always, hire an electrician if you're messing with wires. If you do something incorrectly, your insurance company WILL NOT PAY for any resulting fires or damages!

You should consider installing a 5-20 outlet where your current 5-15 is. You’ll get 33% more energy. But, make sure your breaker and wiring can handle it - use an electrician. It’s still 120V but charges at 16A instead of 12A.
Sorry if this sounds sarcastic or negative, but any vehicle is going to use more fuel (gas or electric) the faster you drive. So I'm amazed that you 'didn't know' the faster you drive your Model 3, the more the batterie will deplete. Good 7th tip though :)
Just did a test drive with the model 3, I LOVED it. I really underestimated everything it can do. The acceleration is insane, and the speakers are next level. I’m for sure gonna buy a model 3

Just got mine and I love that silent whir. I have the base model, 250 miles at 90% charge, and I feel like I might get 210. I super charge every day as I Uber in my car everyday, my apartment has a trickle charge, but it’s pointless. With the seat, I almost crushed a passengers foot, I’d hit my easy entrance profile accidentally and the seat went flat to the floor, and drop on em! They need some type of of connection between the seat pressure sensor and the seat controls. I’m looking at an S, I need more space.
2:03 instead of a 240 volt line, you can install two out of phase 120 volt outlets. Well, you just need one because you already have one there. So if HOA allows a 110 volt line, just wire in an out of phase outlet. They sell adapters that can plug into these two outlets to get 240 volts.
2 mile for every mile is god sent compared to my old car Fiat 500e I lose 2 mile just trying to get off my driveway. Sometimes I would lose 7-10 miles in one mile. It is so inaccurate so I got rid of it and got a model 3. Loving it so far.

I take notes at each charge of how full the battery is at the start, and at the next charge, as well as the distance I've driven between each charge. I also note conditions. Going 75 mph uses more battery, just as a gas-powered car uses more gas at higher speed. Hot days mean A/C--again, more battery. Going up into the mountains means more battery as well.usage
Range on highways is actually more compared to streets. I am saying as an owner of a Model S. You need to learn how to drive and use energy while being fast on highways.
In California, you are allowed by law to install a charger. You might want to check your state law, it may supersede your HOA, therefore allowing you to install that additional electrical line for the 220.

Listen, most of these issues are things that won’t arise until you live with the car in your personal situation, and can’t really be figured out by doing research. Even answers you find online can always be different for you when you buy it. Don’t be hating on him. I don’t blame him for caring about the 0-60 time, that’s one of the biggest selling points for getting a Tesla.

I got a model Y 2 weeks ago and traded in a BMW 5 series. My insurance went down slightly. You should be able to get a quote now to see what the difference will be. The repair bills should be much less than with any ICE vehicle. I traded in because I was facing $4000 in work. I only expect to need tires, fewer brake pads, and possibly some suspension work way down the road. No oil changes, no engine or transmission repairs etc.

In time, superchargers will replace gas stations. If its 4 miles per hour, that means you will get 32 miles to drive by morning. If you drive 20 miles each day to work and back. You will slowly gain 12 miles left over per day, by the end of the week you'll have 80 miles extra from your outlet.
Agreed. Yes, the 120v outlet works when I'm just driving around the area and not doing any extra driving than normal. The biggest time I notice it is when I come back from a 100 mile drive or so and it takes a few days to get back to full charge.

No they won't. There are over 500,000 gas stations in just north america. Tesla has 24,000 charge stations, 12,000 are in califorina..... Come to Canada and have fun finding a supercharge station. I live in Vancouver, we have over 1,500 gas stations here. We have, 150 super charge stations, in ALL of Canada. "b-b-b-b-b-b-ut just charge it at home!" .... Bruh, I can charge my cell phone to 100% and it will still die during the day, you think everyone has time to wait at a charge station for an hour if they go on a road trip? No thanks. Both are great choices. Model Y is bigger and has more storage space in the back. Model 3 can be faster if you buy the performance or stealth performance. They both share about 70% of the same parts so the cars feel almost identical. Depends if you want an SUV or a racecar.

Excellent question! I'd say quality of a toyota, handling of a bmw, reliability is in a class of it's own due to the electric motors. Porsche handling is in a class of it's own as well, I wish I could say Tesla's handle as well as Porsches but it's just not true, Porsches are built for a track.

I've never heard of a house having only 110V electrical service coming from the pole. Putting it simply, there are two AC 110V lines coming into your main breaker box. This means you have 220V available across (using) both lines. If you have an electric stove, or electric clothes dryer, they're using 220V. Of course, I don't know your house and maybe you could have a very odd arrangement. Are you really sure you don't have the typical electric service coming into your home?
Yes, you are correct there is absolutely 240v in the home. The issue with this home is the breaker box is upstairs and the garage is downstairs and it's not just a straight shot to run the line. The HOA doesn't want people running lines through other peoples homes (downstairs unit).

Nice! Just to add some clarity on #2, I recommend making a default seat setting when you pick up your car at delivery. Once you start customizing seat profiles, there is no way to go back to 'default'. I didn't realize this was a problem until I couldn't seem to find a seat position that wouldn't hurt my back. Anyways, hopefully that can save you some trouble if it's applicable!

I'm getting mine installed this week for $250! A good friend of mine is an electrician and she said if anyone charges more than that, or takes more than 2 hours to install it, you're getting scammed. I'm not an electrician but I trust her haha :)
I'm glad it helped your decision but I'd still highly recommend test driving one. No cost, no risk, just to get your hands on it and feel it. Although there are small issues here and there, I'd still buy it all over again :)
Ceramic coating provides no actual impact protection. Get a front clear bra or PPF. If you’re concerned about paint, that’s really the only way to do it.
I think the $100+ price tag has to do with the fact that they are coming out to your house to do it. If you go to a tire shop, it's only about $20-30. I hope that helps!

Great question! My friend has a LR AWD with acceleration boost and I have a Performance "Stealth". He has said many times that he would pay to get the 0-60 acceleration speed of mine. With that said, if the performance (or stealth performance) is in your budget, I would go with that one so you don't kick yourself later. My stealth was about $51k (in between the LR AWD and the Performance). I hope that helps!
I don't think there's a single manufacturer that will let you bring the seat back to it's factory position. Hell the pdi tech and the detail porter will likely place the seat in gangster position, before repositioned by the sales person.
Really helpful video. I live in South Florida and it's hot as hell down here. I'm dumping my BMW convertible because it's just too damn hot when parked outside in the sun. In general, would you say that Tesla Model 3 is significantly hotter than the average car? I like the idea of an electric car for ecological reasons, but I might go for a BMW 330e hybrid instead.
Hey great question! I live in FL too and the heat in thee summer is brutal on cars. I'm happy to answer this question though because the Tesla has a setting called cabin overheat protection that turns the AC on in the car to cool it down inside if it senses that the interior has risen above 105 degrees. Excellent feature that makes a noticeable difference in FL heat. Highly recommended!

Wish I did that.... I highly recommend doing that right when you take delivery, assuming they haven't changed the position while prepping the car for delivery.

I know someone who does this with a standard range model 3. The supercharger is about 15 minutes from his apartment. He just adapted to filling up when he needs it and it works for him. With a longer range Tesla, and if you are reasonably close to a supercharger, I think you could pull it off.
The only reason I haven't bought a Model 3 is the price, but with the $25K coming in 2023, I'll happily wait and save for a large enough downpayment to make the monthly payment fit my budget (stupid student loans are going to get in the way starting 2021)
Nice plan! Agreed, that price point will be a great way to get into a Tesla. You may be able to find a used Model 3 before then for the same price. Seeing that these cars are rated at 300k miles and up, buying a used Tesla potentially comes with a lot less risk than an ICE vehicle.

I 100% agree, and I'm definitely in the small batch of people like yourself that love the engine sound..Hard accelerations, downshifts, exhaust burbles...absolutely love them. At first, I did not care at all that the Tesla was silent because the car smokes anything you line up against at a red light (the instant power is like nothing else, even my friend with a 1200hp corvette said the Model 3 Performance 0-60 is like nothing he's ever felt). Then after about 8 months, I missed the engine noise again. Then surprising after a few more months, currently, I now love not having engine noise in this car. As a daily driver, I don't have any issue that the car is silent (it's performance and reliability outweigh any missing of engine sound). I hope that helps you decide!

The person taking it out of the factory and putting it on the truck will change the seat position anyways there isntt such thing as factory seating position

Hi Paul, thanks for asking! It's less of an issue and more of something to be aware of. When driving on the highway, at the speed limit, it takes more energy for the car to go 1 mile when compared to driving 45 miles per hour for example. What this translates to is if your destination is 100 miles away and you are driving on the highway, it will likely use about 200 miles of charge to get there. I hope that makes sense and helps clarify.
It's in the menu settings, I cant remember which page, but it's at the bottom of one of the pages. Just a simple toggle switch to turn it on. When enabled, it cools the interior of your car automatically when it reaches anything over 105 degrees fahrenheit :)

In California, you are allowed by law to install a charger. You might want to check your state law, it may supersede your HOA, therefore allowing you to install that additional electrical line for the 220.

Even answers you find online can always be different for you when you buy it. Don’t be hating on him. I don’t blame him for caring about the 0-60 time, that’s one of the biggest selling points for getting a Tesla.

Typically a couple hundred dollars, varies by shop. PPF is what you want.

I got a model Y 2 weeks ago and traded in a BMW 5 series. My insurance went down slightly. You should be able to get a quote now to see what the difference will be. The repair bills should be much less than with any ICE vehicle. I traded in because I was facing $4000 in work. I only expect to need tires, fewer brake pads, and possibly some suspension work way down the road. No oil changes, no engine or transmission repairs etc.
For an electrician to come out a cheaply install a NEMA outlet is between $1k-$3k in California

Yes, it all started when I thought I found a comfortable position and saved the profile. Then after driving for an hour, it was hurting my back. Now there is no way to go back. It starts the cycle of changing, saving, changing, saving, etc. but there is no way to just "Start from standard position".
You don't have to run a new line for single phase 240. You can double up 2x 120 on a double pole breaker..... Three phase is another beast
Also, if there is no other way, just say it's for grandma's life support system

In time, superchargers will replace gas stations. If its 4 miles per hour, that means you will get 32 miles to drive by morning. If you drive 20 miles each day to work and back. You will slowly gain 12 miles left over per day, by the end of the week you'll have 80 miles extra from your outlet.
Agreed. Yes, the 120v outlet works when I'm just driving around the area and not doing any extra driving than normal. The biggest time I notice it is when I come back from a 100 mile drive or so and it takes a few days to get back to full charge.

Both are great choices. Model Y is bigger and has more storage space in the back. Model 3 can be faster if you buy the performance or stealth performance. They both share about 70% of the same parts so the cars feel almost identical. Depends if you want an SUV or a racecar.

Excellent question! I'd say quality of a toyota, handling of a bmw, reliability is in a class of it's own due to the electric motors. Porsche handling is in a class of it's own as well, I wish I could say Tesla's handle as well as Porsches but it's just not true, Porsches are built for a track.

I've never heard of a house having only 110V electrical service coming from the pole. Putting it simply, there are two AC 110V lines coming into your main breaker box. This means you have 220V available across (using) both lines. If you have an electric stove, or electric clothes dryer, they're using 220V. Of course, I don't know your house and maybe you could have a very odd arrangement. Are you really sure you don't have the typical electric service coming into your home?
Yes, you are correct there is absolutely 240v in the home. The issue with this home is the breaker box is upstairs and the garage is downstairs and it's not just a straight shot to run the line. The HOA doesn't want people running lines through other peoples homes (downstairs unit).

Nice! Just to add some clarity on #2, I recommend making a default seat setting when you pick up your car at delivery. Once you start customizing seat profiles, there is no way to go back to 'default'. I didn't realize this was a problem until I couldn't seem to find a seat position that wouldn't hurt my back. Anyways, hopefully that can save you some trouble if it's applicable!

Ceramic coating provides no actual impact protection. Get a front clear bra or PPF. If you’re concerned about paint, that’s really the only way to do it.

I think the $100+ price tag has to do with the fact that they are coming out to your house to do it. If you go to a tire shop, it's only about $20-30. I hope that helps!

Great question! My friend has a LR AWD with acceleration boost and I have a Performance "Stealth". He has said many times that he would pay to get the 0-60 acceleration speed of mine. With that said, if the performance (or stealth performance) is in your budget, I would go with that one so you don't kick yourself later. My stealth was about $51k (in between the LR AWD and the Performance). I hope that helps!

I don't think there's a single manufacturer that will let you bring the seat back to it's factory position. Hell the pdi tech and the detail porter will likely place the seat in gangster position, before repositioned by the sales person.

Really helpful video. I live in South Florida and it's hot as hell down here. I'm dumping my BMW convertible because it's just too damn hot when parked outside in the sun. In general, would you say that Tesla Model 3 is significantly hotter than the average car? I like the idea of an electric car for ecological reasons, but I might go for a BMW 330e hybrid instead.
Hey great question! I live in FL too and the heat in thee summer is brutal on cars. I'm happy to answer this question though because the Tesla has a setting called cabin overheat protection that turns the AC on in the car to cool it down inside if it senses that the interior has risen above 105 degrees. Excellent feature that makes a noticeable difference in FL heat. Highly recommended!

A NEMA 14-50 ( 240 ) I get more like 30 miles per hour charge rate.

Hey so I’m thinking about buying a Tesla but I live in a apartment building would you recommend primarily charging the Tesla at the charging stationss?
I know someone who does this with a standard range model 3. The supercharger is about 15 minutes from his apartment. He just adapted to filling up when he needs it and it works for him. With a longer range Tesla, and if you are reasonably close to a supercharger, I think you could pull it off.
The only reason I haven't bought a Model 3 is the price, but with the $25K coming in 2023, I'll happily wait and save for a large enough downpayment to make the monthly payment fit my budget (stupid student loans are going to get in the way starting 2021)
Nice plan! Agreed, that price point will be a great way to get into a Tesla. You may be able to find a used Model 3 before then for the same price. Seeing that these cars are rated at 300k miles and up, buying a used Tesla potentially comes with a lot less risk than an ICE vehicle.

I 100% agree, and I'm definitely in the small batch of people like yourself that love the engine sound..Hard accelerations, downshifts, exhaust burbles...absolutely love them. At first, I did not care at all that the Tesla was silent because the car smokes anything you line up against at a red light (the instant power is like nothing else, even my friend with a 1200hp corvette said the Model 3 Performance 0-60 is like nothing he's ever felt). Then after about 8 months, I missed the engine noise again. Then surprising after a few more months, currently, I now love not having engine noise in this car. As a daily driver, I don't have any issue that the car is silent (it's performance and reliability outweigh any missing of engine sound). I hope that helps you decide!

PPF is the best you can get for bugs/rocks. It offers more protection than ceramic coating. I meant to say that in the video actually (face palm).

Hi Paul, thanks for asking! It's less of an issue and more of something to be aware of. When driving on the highway, at the speed limit, it takes more energy for the car to go 1 mile when compared to driving 45 miles per hour for example. What this translates to is if your destination is 100 miles away and you are driving on the highway, it will likely use about 200 miles of charge to get there. I hope that makes sense and helps clarify.

What’s overheat protection? I can’t find it anywhere.
It's in the menu settings, I cant remember which page, but it's at the bottom of one of the pages. Just a simple toggle switch to turn it on. When enabled, it cools the interior of your car automatically when it reaches anything over 105 degrees fahrenheit :)
