Hello Ryan. We just saw the Model 3 displayed in a mall next to where we live. While we are hesitant with regards to changing from a classic vehicle to electric, your review made me understand that our transition should wait no longer. Thank you for your work and spent in putting this together.
If the rattle near the passenger door is coming from the B pillar, it’s very likely from the shoulder belt height adjustment mechanism. The metal part that slides up and down has a hard plastic attachment that can be slightly loose and rattle against each other. Putting felt or foam tape in there is an easy fix for you or the mobile service rep.
Great review! I used your Tesla referral link before buying my Model Y a few months ago because of your thorough reviews. As far as road-tripping... I've been traveling all over the Western side of the US the last couple months in my Model Y camping and it's been great. One has to realize that currently if you want to charge from let's say 20% - 100% it will take 45 minutes (charging slows as it gets higher) at a Supercharger which is a bummer on road trips compared to gas cars, but that's such a small amount of times you'd do that. I usually find myself stopping for 20 minutes on average and charge to about 85% which will easily get you to the next Supercharger. As long as you keep it under 85% than it's not much worse than a gas car with a to go order and bathroom break. Most people will just use it around town and to/from work so that's easily covered by home charging. I just use my dryer outlet (Tesla 14-30 adapter) which is 30AMP and it charges plenty fast at 21 miles per hour so an overnight charge does the trick. Thanks again for the thorough reviews :)
Great review! That door-rattle would drive me insane. Second-guessing this car. --- or at least waiting a few years (might even get tax credit by then!)
@@ihavenoideahelp5239 He never said that. He said quality control has gotten better over time, but he clearly demonstrated multiple issues on his relatively recent delivery.
The Federal Tax Credit has expired for Tesla and GM due to the number of EVs that they have sold. However most if not all states have their own credit programs. Tesla lists what they are on its web site.
I have the M3 SR+ also, and I if I were to do it over again I would have gotten the Long Range. While I only do long road trips once in a while, I would like to have those extra miles that I could go before needing to supercharge. The Long Range could also take advantage of the 250kw chargers and charge faster. The SR+ doesn't really charge faster on those. While that's not really all that big a deal, I do kind of wish I had the full premium sound system that comes with the Long Range.
Great review, thanks! My experience has been mostly the same. Living in the southeast, the main thing I thought I'd miss coming from a car that had them was ventilated seats. However, since you can pre-cool the interior and air can blow directly on the seats, not a problem! Another great thing about the climate control is that you can make it stay on while you run into the store or whatever. It will reset after you get back in the car so if you run into another store you'll need to do it again. These vehicles would be HUGE for all those lazy people that sit in the car with the engine & AC running while their spouse does the shopping. There is also a dog mode that will keep it comfy for your pooch and notify people outside what the temp is inside the car. (so they don't smash your windows!) My windshield wipers are a little quirky also, sometimes they think it's raining harder than it really is and I have to slow them down. Other than that they work ok. It might be because I used a water repellent cleaner on the windshield and I read afterward that you shouldn't use that stuff if you have auto wipers.
We have had the SR+ Model 3 for about four months and have loved it!! We also have two Honda Pilots (a 2012 and 2020) and those obviously do well in hazardous conditions. Almost tempted to trade in our 2020 Pilot for a 2021 Model Y LR. Any advice? 🥰
Thank you, Annnnnd with that, I am placing my order for my own Model 3 Plus in Grey this week! :P So Excited. thanks again for this video, its what convinced me to pull the trigger on Ordering.
Excellent review! I would only argue that there's more value in the long range model upgrade than you imply. It's faster, has significantly more range, is all wheel drive, now has a heated steering wheel as well as rear seats, better sound, and speed upgrade option. The added range makes a big difference if your keeping the charge between 20-80% and don't always have perfect EPA rating driving conditions (heat, cold, highway speeds). You can also charge more miles at a higher speed.
I had the same thoughts, originally was going to order the SR with FSD then I changed my mind on the FSD and decided to get the LR 3.. The sound system and the miles was what finally convinced me. Great! sound.. oh yeah and the AWD really helped out while on my road trip up North.
@@sergioalvarez193 Good call! The extra range also gives you more leeway for preconditioning the car and sentry mode. Also in the long run, the car will still have plenty of range with 10 to 20% degradation
Just imagine after 10-15 years, with battery degradation and all the LR and Performance still has more range than the SR. Just something to think of. That's why I got the Performance.

Took delivery of my 2021 Long Range Model 3 in March, (former competitive driver and classic 911 owner). In addition to daily driving, completed a 5,675 Road Trip (VA-MT-VA). By far, the best overall designed car I've ever driven. Ryan provided an outstandingly accurate review. Performance is "over-the-top". My wife, who was initially very skeptical, absolutely loves driving the car and willingly dominates seat time on a trip.
Hey Ryan great review Tel me should I wait for the upgraded batteries? I hear they are better over all and are used to make the frame of the car more rigid and strong. Is the the y worth the extra money? Thanks Ryan. 👍
Ordered the Model 3 long range. I have to fully inspect once it’s here, for little scratches and other deficiencies. Thanks for your solid unbiased review.
Great review. I do have a question regarding Driver Profile settings. If my wife and I approach the vehicle and it unlocks, which driver profile will it use? If I'm driving and my profile is being used, how does my wife get it to use her profile for say the AC?
FYI, Bo, those are the Aero wheel covers for better aerodynamics. They just pull off and underneath are a nice set of alloys. This feature confused me at first. There's no need to order the sport wheels unless you specifically want them.
Great review video! I'm considering the model 3 or the Y, but I'm hesitant regarding the new batteries. I have a feeling that as soon as I buy a tesla, the new 4680 battery will release and I'll have instant regret that I didn't wait. However, what are the possibilities of the 4680s raising the price on teslas? How impactful will the 4680s likely be on the older batteries?
Super fantastic review Ryan! You’re very thorough, concise, and don’t waste time with clouds of paragraphs. This review was so good, I actually bought a Model 3 because of it! Many thanks!
Wipers can also be adjusted with voice commands which also can be used to call up any screen... e.g. Show Energy or Show Tire Pressure etc. Open Glove Box also works.
I think that there are big differences between standart range and long range models. It's worth the higher price. There is even bigger price bump with oerformance witl less benefits. Bigger battery, all wheel drive, better audio, heated seats etc. are definitelly something i would pay for. Long range is mine choice
I get that this is a review, but you only said things that are general knowledge about the model 3. What did you add from the 3 months of use? There’s no new info…
Did Tesla disable the radar in your car after Tesla vision was released or does it still work normally. Also does your car come with the slightly larger battery pack like in the newer model Y cars just released.
What about the tesla in really hot climates? I would worry about the roof (car would be more hot than usual) and lightning? Would it ruin the software?
It depends! If you find yourself utilizing cargo space a lot, and usually all 5 seats, I’d go Model Y. Model 3 is more fun to drive for me, and a smoother ride as far as suspension, but it’s lower to the ground, so a bit less comfy on longer drives.
i have been driving this car in Hong Kong for over a year, the driving experience so far has been excellent except one major flaw, I personally find that the driver side B pillar blind spot is too large, when doing a shoulder check a motorcycle can easily hide in the driver side B pillar blind spot in the adjacent lane and a mini van two lanes next to me, I highly recommend getting a blind spot mirror or some aftermarket mirror to replace the original mirror.
I ordered a model Y LR while waiting for the cybertruck, but I think I'll switch to the model 3 standard range plus, then trade in when the cybertruck is out. Not sure if I'll loose $250 for switching from Y to 3?
Location of the speedometer is so annoying, there should at least be a heads up display on the windshield... even the base model mazda's have them now.
I am on the verge of ordering a Tesla M3P, but am also offered a ID.4 Pro Perf by VW for roughly the same delivery date. Testdrove the latter and ride quality was really good, but there was a obvious lack in performance and the software was.. workable at best. The main critizisms I have on the Tesla is the lack of production quality, granted Shanghai built models seem to be of much better quality, and lack of ride quality quiet a few people mentioned. Is the latter really that bad? I drive a significant distance on a daily basis and some of the highways here in germany are in quiet a terrible state. Can some Tesla owners maybe share their experience? Tesla only offers 1 hour test drives and that is barely enough to get out of the city.
Thank you for the review!! BF and I are strongly considering getting Teslas for the lack of emissions and are trying to get as much info as we can before we commit!
Great video Ryan. I agree that Yoke is different and people generally do not like change. I am sure we will get used to it fairly quickly. It will be interesting to see if other EV makers also change to Yoke. Unrelated question - Did you get a game controller with your car? They had shown a Yoke like game controller during the Plaid event. How did you manage to get the car so quickly? Did you order the car with 21" wheel? I have heard that orders for people with 19" wheel are pushed back. I placed my order for MS LR on March 10th and I still don't have a delivery date or VIN number. We live in Overland Park, KS.
I got a question (and I might be making a mistake typing this before I see the entire video). You mention that the differences between a SRP and the other versions are few, but you don't mention that they are also different when it comes to engine and transmission? The SRP is a RWD vehicle, whereas LR, and P, are AWD. That is my understanding, I am planning on purchasing one, but now you got me confused.
Good review but I disagree on rear seat room and speakers. It is a small sedan and is not comfortable for tall individuals in back seat. I would say it’s similar to a Corolla in the back In addition the speaker system sounds tinny
I’m 6 foot and rode in the back of a model 3 for over 4 hours. Is it comfortable at that time? No. Did I feel cramped? No. My hair barely touched the glass roof and my legs weren’t up to my chest. If you’re under 5 foot 10 the backseat will be no problem.
@@woohooivan The back sears are way too low and don't support your thighs if you are a tall person. Therefore your legs are at unusual angle. On top of all that, there is hardly any space under the front seats for the back passengers to put their feet, even if they are set all the way up ! Tesla could change all that no problem, question is why don't they ?
I'm about 2 weeks from my Model Y delivery! these videos are keeping, me busy while I wait 😃 thanks for all the great info! I went with the long range but got the upgraded wheels, hope it was not a mistake! I a, sure I'll love it 🙃
Thanks s much for this video as I am thinking of buying a Tesla Model 3 so this is very helpful. I am hoping you may be able to answer one question I have and that is when you need to drive forward into a carpark does the camera show the front of the car and the lines where you have to park between like a 360deg camera.
Hey, Ryan, do you have a video describing your thoughts about driving the Y compared to your newer 3? (I wonder if the extra 370 parts in the 3 contribute to the noises you hear.) ... small correction: key fob price boosted to $175 (better price than a Mercedes fob for $500, though)
basically every supercar is less comfortable than a normal priced car (excluding luxury car such as rr, bentley s-class etc, by supercars i mean lambos and ferrraris)
Hi Ryan, thanks for the video to explain 2021 Tesla Model 3, I got one delivery on July but I still not familiar with Charging related issues. Such as on the left hand corner what does 5A plus...symbol mean? Can you explain a little more detail on how to set the charge time, how to schedule? etc. Thanks!
Cheers for the review My one question, if I opt to not do the full self drive feature for 10k when I buy it and further down the line I can afford it is it just like an upgrade to your phone? Pay the fee then the car installs it then the features is good to go or must it be bought as the car is being built?
It sounded a little confusing in this video but I know from a few of his previous videos, he means that FSD does NOT transfer over when you sell the vehicle. So if you spend $10k on FSD, you probably shouldn't resell it since its value wont transfer over
Wow, great review! I actually watch the whole video, you kept it interesting. I am gravitating more and more towards a Tesla for my next vehicle. Thanks for posting.
I’m seriously considering a M3 LR but I think I’m going to wait until there is more news on the new EV credit being discussed. I know the new infrastructure deal excludes the credit but there is still hope for the next budget discussion later this year.
I might’ve missed this so I apologize. Why are there two speeds next to each other on the top left of the screen for people who don’t utilize the autopilot features?
We really enjoy your videos and I'm sure we'll come back to this one from time to time as we will soon be a member of the Tesla family. We ordered our Model 3 SR+ in late August and have an estimated delivery time frame of 12-23-21 to 12-30-21.
Very good review. I just want to mention that the voice command capability is something I use frequently. For instance you can control temperature and wiper speeds from commands. I arbitrary try commands and I am surprised they work. Sometimes it will respond command not available "yet." I am waiting on a command to tilt the side mirrors down, possible 20 degrees IE, when doing night driving with out having to use the screen to adjust mirrors every time for day versus night. Side mirror adjustments come up as not available "yet."
I'm going to give you the best way of getting rid of sounds in your car. 1 ) Have some headphones that are capable of making noise transparency. 2) Crank up the noise transparency on your headphones to make your sounds and surrounding areas more audible 3) Turn off your radio and air condition inside your vehicle 4) Have someone drive the vehicle as you ride in the passenger seat or backseat as needed 5) Identify the areas where the sounds are most likely to come out of 6) Purchase any interior lubricant and proceed to lubricate areas as needed.
I heard now from several people that the suspension in the Model Y is much more comfortable , so why doesn't Tesla use that for the Model 3 SR+ and LR also ?
So you're telling me the standard version comes with the capability to heat the back seats but you need to buy the software to get it unblocked? I think this is just dumb
Every potential Tesla buyer should watch this...excellent!

I get that this is a review, but you only said things that are general knowledge about the model 3. What did you add from the 3 months of use? There’s no new info…
Not everyone knows what you know about the Tesla, not everyone wants to read the description and specs.
He said a lot of things about his personal experience. Did you watch the whole thing?
What color is that? is it a option on the Tesla website when building your model or is that a wrap?
Did Tesla disable the radar in your car after Tesla vision was released or does it still work normally. Also does your car come with the slightly larger battery pack like in the newer model Y cars just released.
What about the tesla in really hot climates? I would worry about the roof (car would be more hot than usual) and lightning? Would it ruin the software?
Many thanks for your video. Ryan if you had to choose between your Model Y and Model 3 which one would you prefer? Thank you.
It depends! If you find yourself utilizing cargo space a lot, and usually all 5 seats, I’d go Model Y. Model 3 is more fun to drive for me, and a smoother ride as far as suspension, but it’s lower to the ground, so a bit less comfy on longer drives.
@@RyanShawtech Thank you for your reply.
1:13 Did he just wink at me ?? 😂❤
Hahahahaha good catch. I didn't even notice that 😂
i have been driving this car in Hong Kong for over a year, the driving experience so far has been excellent except one major flaw, I personally find that the driver side B pillar blind spot is too large, when doing a shoulder check a motorcycle can easily hide in the driver side B pillar blind spot in the adjacent lane and a mini van two lanes next to me, I highly recommend getting a blind spot mirror or some aftermarket mirror to replace the original mirror.
Thanks for a solid review. Makes me long for my first Tesla even more.
That was the best review of the 2021 Tesla Model 3. Well done Ryan you nailed it.
39900$is a final price or you have paid additional taxes or fees? What is a totally final price of standard Tesla model 3?
I ordered a model Y LR while waiting for the cybertruck, but I think I'll switch to the model 3 standard range plus, then trade in when the cybertruck is out. Not sure if I'll loose $250 for switching from Y to 3?
Location of the speedometer is so annoying, there should at least be a heads up display on the windshield... even the base model mazda's have them now.
Is google maps live traffic integrated? Do you need to pay extra for the mobile data connection or does it all go through your phone?
July 20th - August 8th for my delivery, almost there 😀
It's the same date for me and it just changed to that date this morning! Albeit, a later deliver than before.
What date did you place your order?
@@toddrgale25 June 12th Grey/White.
The sound system is not good in the standard range model 3. My 2011 Lexus ct stock system blows it out of the water.
We live in Overland Park, KS.
standard vs awd, is the price difference really worth it for snow?
I got a question (and I might be making a mistake typing this before I see the entire video). You mention that the differences between a SRP and the other versions are few, but you don't mention that they are also different when it comes to engine and transmission? The SRP is a RWD vehicle, whereas LR, and P, are AWD.
That is my understanding, I am planning on purchasing one, but now you got me confused.
Please do a Model Y vs Model 3 video
@ryan Shaw, did you ask Tesla to fix the rattling and squeeky noise?
How much longer is a standard trip over a combustion engine. I imagine a 12 hour trip would be double if you dont live in a coastal state.
Good review but I disagree on rear seat room and speakers. It is a small sedan and is not comfortable for tall individuals in back seat. I would say it’s similar to a Corolla in the back
In addition the speaker system sounds tinny
I’m not a crazy audiophile, but I’m very happy with the speakers.
As for the backseat, big enough for teenagers… not so great for full size males
I’m 6 foot and rode in the back of a model 3 for over 4 hours. Is it comfortable at that time? No. Did I feel cramped? No.
My hair barely touched the glass roof and my legs weren’t up to my chest. If you’re under 5 foot 10 the backseat will be no problem.
@@woohooivan
The back sears are way too low and don't support your thighs if you are a tall person.
Thank you for sharing! Does this 2021 m3 have heat pump?
question: how long dos the battery last and how much is a new battery?
Hey, Ryan, do you have a video describing your thoughts about driving the Y compared to your newer 3? (I wonder if the extra 370 parts in the 3 contribute to the noises you hear.) ... small correction: key fob price boosted to $175 (better price than a Mercedes fob for $500, though)
Isn't it crazy that people would prioritise the look of a wheel over comfort.
No bc I work from home and drive like 10 miles a day.
Not really, people buy uncomfortable cars all the time if they’re good looking
basically every supercar is less comfortable than a normal priced car (excluding luxury car such as rr, bentley s-class etc, by supercars i mean lambos and ferrraris)
Maybe you haven’t seen women’s shoes.
Hi Ryan, thanks for the video to explain 2021 Tesla Model 3, I got one delivery on July but I still not familiar with Charging related issues. Such as on the left hand corner what does 5A plus...symbol mean? Can you explain a little more detail on how to set the charge time, how to schedule? etc. Thanks!
I'm ordering a model 3 sr+ white exterior and black interior in December. I cant wait!
Cheers for the review
My one question, if I opt to not do the full self drive feature for 10k when I buy it and further down the line I can afford it is it just like an upgrade to your phone? Pay the fee then the car installs it then the features is good to go or must it be bought as the car is being built?
Literally one click away. You buy it through the App, and it downloads.
Ryan, do you prefer 3 or Y?
That could be the right video. Compare his vast experience with the Y to his impressions of the 3. On the fence for which offers the best value.
Fantastic video Ryan, will buy a SR+ this week. Thanks for the advice!
The SR+ is practical in warm climate but not in the NE. The cold weather is going to sap the battery.
If I’m a renter not a homeowner how would I go about charging
I rent as well and I was thinking of just running a long cable to my car
I'm sold, just need about 55k for the FSD Long Range version now!
Is 4.49% interest rate on model 3 good right now?
Can you talk about the worry of charging the car inside a garage? I saw a horrid fire started inside a home garage and it burned the entire house!
Battery, speed, all wheel drive capability, wayyy better sound system etc.
Ordered the SR Model 3 today. Thanks for the review!
Thanks, really great review Ryan. Not sure I agree with 18:40 though. Your FSD Tesla will surely have a higher resale value than one without?
It’s showing how fast you’ll allow the car to go when autopilot and or cruise control is on.
Hello! Is Protection film really needed? Is the paint really soft? More power to your channel! :)
The minimalist interior is dreamy. Love it. Thank you for the great review!!
As of 04/22/24 , cheapest model 3 on sale at hertz out of TX is $20,695 and its mileage is 121,000
Great overview considering a base model for my daily driver
Thanks
Best Review I have seen yet of the Tesla Model 3. I am even more excited to get mine next week. Thanks.
We really enjoy your videos and I'm sure we'll come back to this one from time to time as we will soon be a member of the Tesla family. We ordered our Model 3 SR+ in late August and have an estimated delivery time frame of 12-23-21 to 12-30-21.
Tesla just updated our estimated delivery to now be January 23rd to February 20th.
Thank you. I have a Y and all the features that you discuss were helpful to me
Very good review.
Is the Model Y driver’s seat area wider vs the Model 3?
Which one has more elbow room?
Hi Ryan. Keep up the great work I love your videos! Cheers from 🇨🇭
I'm going to give you the best way of getting rid of sounds in your car.
1 ) Have some headphones that are capable of making noise transparency.
2) Crank up the noise transparency on your headphones to make your sounds and surrounding areas more audible
3) Turn off your radio and air condition inside your vehicle
4) Have someone drive the vehicle as you ride in the passenger seat or backseat as needed
5) Identify the areas where the sounds are most likely to come out of
6) Purchase any interior lubricant and proceed to lubricate areas as needed.
Headphones in while driving is such a terrible idea for obvious reasons
I heard now from several people that the suspension in the Model Y is much more comfortable , so why doesn't Tesla use that for the Model 3 SR+ and LR also ?
So you're telling me the standard version comes with the capability to heat the back seats but you need to buy the software to get it unblocked? I think this is just dumb
Ryan, where can I find your referral link?
You forgot to mention the left stick operates the high-beam lights.
