  • Part 2 of Knife Commentary Breakdown! Today I talk a little bit more in depth about the importance of grappling, wrestling, and push/pull concepts in knife defense. Not to sound super zen...BUT it really is all about energy! You have to be able to build that sensitivity to pushes and pulls and use that for judging when to strike, transition, and execute takedowns. Drill drill drill. Drillers make killers.

What's up, y'all? Hope you enjoy part 2 of this breakdown!
REMINDER: We are light sparring. "Oh, he's not stabbing hard enough. This wouldn't work with real pressure..." Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast. I've spent the last 6 months doing knife training, drilling and pressure testing about 3-7x a week, but would still love to hear from your own experiences with a similar amount of training and effort. ;)

This is great - exactly what this kind of training should look like :)

Good stuff. I find when rolling with knives that the mount is far less useful, since it puts you squarely inside his workspace. Just like in standing, I want to get outside his elbows, get behind him, and bundle up his arms. If I can get him face down, so much the better.

Knowing what I do now 1 year later, I would agree.
