Hearing you say "younger me" and "pretty old" made me double check and now I feel like I skipped forward in time. I swear 5 years ago wasn't that long ago.
Another bonus reason that clicking is allowed is that even if moving the mouse left and right is forbidden, (which you've established it's not), a computer with a touchscreen allows you to click without moving the mouse at all by just tapping the part of the screen that you want to click. This will make the cursor disappear, but moving the mouse again will prove that the cursor either stayed right where it was before, or teleported to the clicked location without actually moving right or left. Obviously that doesn't matter because as you proved, the game considers them different inputs, but I just find it fun that even applying the logic of a sentence in the english language in which moving the mouse is still moving, it's still possible to select Knuckles.

Seeing runs like this makes me think back to how it is (technically) possible to beat Kirby's Adventure without owning a Kirby game. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, playing the game can allow you to unlock timed demos of older titles, showing the games some characters originate from. One of these is Kirby's Adventure, which happens to have 3 glitches in the first stage: Eating two enemies at once lets you get the Stone ability, rolling at the correct spot lets you clip through the floor and be underwater without swimming, and using stone underwater causes a game crash you can forcefully halt by pressing Start at the right moment to pause the game, making the end credits of Kirby's Adventure roll without owning Kirby's Adventure. Done fast enough, you can beat the demo's time limit.

I would actually like to suggest something for consideration for a future run like this, provided you ever consider at least this one notable fangame. "Can You Beat SRB2 Without Moving?" Basically, complete the normal levels of SRB2's campaign (and the subsequently unlocked Vhallenge Levels) as Knuckles without WASD controls whatsoever (aside from menus, which are already unaffected by unmapping WASD anyways.) It's reccomended to use "Manual" control style (you'll know what that means when you see the menus) because it makes your camera dictate which direction you glide/spindash to. There's a small trick you can do with climbing that makes it viable: 1. Glide onto a wall and latch on. 2. Press Spin to drop off of the wall instead of jumping off, the latter will turn you around. 3. Immediately after pressing Spin, before you lose any altitude, press Jump again to glide back into the wall, gaining a couple inches of height. This can even be angled to shift to the sides thanks to Manual control. 4. Repeat until you reach the top, at which point Knuckles will slide onto the ground your next glide. Also, this game is immediately more forgiving than S3&K because it doesn't just save your current zone, it saves your current act. This, plus effectively infinite continues in any slot that's not specifically designated No Save makes extra lives pointless, and helps prevent against Lattelocks with springs (and all of this is unfortunately required, as there's no longer any Time Overs given that these 3D stages are much larger than any previous 2D stages. At least you won't need to buy so many lattes; your poor wallet probably cries every time it sees a spring in a Sonic game.) I actually tested this myself a little, and it actually seems about as fun as S3&K was, but my current roadblock is the crumbling bridge segment in Castle Eggman Zone 1. Knuckles can't seem to gain and maintain enough speed to get across fast enough, and this may unfortunately come down to the completely different physics. One last note, should you consider this challenge: there is a mod on the SRB2 Message Board that's named something like "Every Time Knuckles Gets Hit, He Says 'OH NO'". As it describes, this audio is the only thing it adds. It's really hilarious, and is therefore required.
I mention the normal levels, but now that I think about it, you can actually include the Challenge Levels. You unlock Haunted Heights immediately after beating the final boss, you unlock Aerial Garden after HHZ, and you unlock Azure Temple after AGZ. These are much harder than the vanilla stages, so if you crave something harder if the main game doesn't challenge your lack of skills enough, these will suffice. This means that Frozen Hillside, Pipe Towers, Forest Fortress and Techno Legacy are completely omitted. These are unlocked by finding Emblems in the stages or by gathering enough rings/beating the zone fast enough to get the respective Record emblems. Most of the placed emblems can only be grabbed by specific characters, and the ones Knuckles can grab would simply not be enough to unlock them all. Plus, while Ring records can probably be easy to obtain, you'll most likely never obtain enough Time records. Chaos Emeralds are completely omitted, because I'm pretty certain you can't jump, glide or climb in NiGHTS: Into Dreams.
... oh no, I just remembered; Arid Canyon 2 might be a genuine end to the run! In several parts of the zone, there are minecart sections where you can ride on them and avoid TNT barrels. Some of them can be skipped around by finding an alternative path, but the one right before the end absolutely CANNOT be skipped (unless Knuckles can break certain walls I've never thought to test.) And unfortunately, you can't jump off of them or just jump over all the barrels and cacti. If you jump off of the rails, Knuckles will immediately die a horrible, painful death as the cart gets destroyed. If you get hit enough by barrels or cacti, Knuckles will die a horrible, painful death. The only time you can get off of a minecart is if it crashes into a specifically designed barrier, and Knuckles will NOT die a horrible, painful death. BUT, the one at the end of ACZ2 ends in a massive jump after the cart crashes, and if I know SRB2's physics enough, you won't have enough speed or momentum, so Knuckles WILL die a horrible, painful death!!!
Just revisiting this to say: if there's any problems you might have in terms of legality of fangames, SRB2 itself is made from the ground up, only using the DOOM engine and none of DOOM's assets. A recently released (and sold) indie game, Selaco, uses GZDoom itself, and Id Software/Bethesda have no qualms about it. The only legality part is that it uses the Sonic IP, and thus can't sell SRB2 - "If anything, we LOSE money," the devs insist. In other words, I firmly believe fangames can, and should, be considered real games. It's not like how ROM hacks or mods are extensions of existing games that, in the former's case, can now be considered a pirated version of the game. Besides, Sonic Mania is a fangame. Just an officially funded and endorsed one.
By the way, if anyone's wondering, the Knuckles in Sonic 1 ROM Hack by Stealth is very old & outdated, and AsuharaMoon has made a much better version in recent years. If you're interested, go look that up and play that version instead if you want to play the ROM Hack version.
Ah yes. I love discussing the semantics of game version and what constitutes moving left and right for 10 minutes, only for the mission to fail in the fifth level due to that one time Marble Zone decided to be quirky and force Son- I mean Knuckles to push a block. I'm not being sarcastic here. This is the Gamechamp difference. Never change.
Now for the ULTIMATE challenge. Can you beat Blue Sphere? By pressing, I BELIEVE, the A, B, and C buttons on the NO WAY! NO WAY? screen of Sonic 1 and Knuckles you can activate the single longest official Sonic Game of all time. If memory serves Blue Sphere/ Blue Spheres has over 100 MILLION levels. Note how I said just ‘Can you beat?’ Just imagine how long it would take.
I don't know if I love or hate the 10 minute to explain why remaping buttons doesn't count as pressing moving right or left for what most purest would likely just put as not the game yet, you've earned the title of hyper purest
And here i thought you’d actually do the run on the romhack 😭 (I was gonna ask for a really cool Crash Bandicoot mod where every box is replaced with a Nitro crate, but my dreams were mercilessly crushed by the Epic Games 3K 😔)
Objection to the mouse argument, the challenge was not to "move" right or left, or else this run would be no way no how impossible, but the challenge was not to "press" right or left. As such, moving the mouse to select Knuckles was not a rule violation, but pressing the "left" mouse button to click is.
Dunno why people are complaining so much about the first ten minutes, it's incredibly funny and wouldn't be you without it. Keep up the good fight Ms. Gamechamp.
Man, I love when Ms. Gamechamp's video stop being about video games and start being about breaking physics theories or quantum superpositions And I LOVE IT
Unfortunately I don’t think it’s possible in any 3d sonic game (except for maybe the boost games except frontiers) only sonic, shadow, knuckles, rouge, blaze, and silver (after he gets the teleport dash) can move forward without the control stick. And only knuckles and rouge can change direction but they can only do so in 180 degree intervals
Part of me is now tempted to see how much of '06 you could do without touching the left stick. The other part of me is saying "Nah mate you're already thinking about that with Freedom Planet 2."

I actually tested this myself a little, and it actually seems about as fun as S3&K was, but my current roadblock is the crumbling bridge segment in Castle Eggman Zone 1.
It's been great to watch these come out over the years and know the only way I know Sonic being played is without directional input.
Video starts at 0:00 if you're not a coward
Based
"We're actually in Green Hill Zone, let's get this run sta-"
*Ad immediately plays*
You know what TH-cam? Not even mad. Not even mad.
By the way, if anyone's wondering, the Knuckles in Sonic 1 ROM Hack by Stealth is very old & outdated, and AsuharaMoon has made a much better version in recent years. If you're interested, go look that up and play that version instead if you want to play the ROM Hack version.
There's also Sonic 1 Character Pak which has knuckles and much more and i'm totally not biased towards it.
The pedantic semantics were incredible. Good job!
Your voice is doing great, queen.
Your content is always perfect too. Keep it up
I am 9 minutes into this video and we’re still mapping controls 😭. I love this channel so much lmao 🤣 /gen
This entire starting part is so unhinged
Thank you for giving us a small view into what your intrusive thoughts are like in the first 10 minutes of the video... it was very educational 😊
YOOOO youre making so much progress with your voice lets goooo!
Bro, the fact that she covers LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE BASE I COULD POSSIBLY CONSIDER IS INSANE!!!
Get 10 minutes in the video "Is is April first? it must be right?"
Girl I dunno if you're voice training but if you are you're doing great!
I'm the viewer(s) who was questioning if moving the mouse to the right counted as a right-input. So grateful for the cameo appearance. 😌
At some point i gotta wonder how much of this type of thing is a bit and how much is genuine OCD /hj
Now that Sonic Origins is viable, can’t wait for Sonic CD and Knuckles.
it's a good day when there's a new VG Myth to watch.
Jesus Christ how did it take 10 minutes to actually start the challenge lmao
Finally, the run I’ve been waiting for! I’ll just sit right down and…
…oh no…
RIGHT down!
And here i thought you’d actually do the run on the romhack 😭
(I was gonna ask for a really cool Crash Bandicoot mod where every box is replaced with a Nitro crate, but my dreams were mercilessly crushed by the Epic Games 3K 😔)
I saw the crash nitro challenge. It was quite fun.
Gamechamp now going above and beyond with pedantics! XD That was an amazing opening...
It took more time to start the run then it took to even fail it.
30:19 - 30:24
“If you die with 0 lives, you’ll end up with *strangling groan tube*-five lives!”
😂
Objection to the mouse argument, the challenge was not to "move" right or left, or else this run would be no way no how impossible, but the challenge was not to "press" right or left. As such, moving the mouse to select Knuckles was not a rule violation, but pressing the "left" mouse button to click is.
There's the semantic police
Go into mouse options and click "switch primary mouse buttons" then select knuckles with right click
@@rafaelhines1178 Pressing right is also against the rules. This can be averted with the use of the middle mouse button or a touchscreen.
@zorinus3340 some mice also have extra buttons that could be bound to the click action
The first 10 minutes of the video being semantics is the most Gamechamp3000 thing ever and I love it. Never change, Gamechamp.
It’s funny that the first 9 minutes is just tomfoolery.
Also yea good thing you made.
10 minutes of semantics for why you are allowed to even play the game under the challenge rules. This is what I subscribe for.
Dunno why people are complaining so much about the first ten minutes, it's incredibly funny and wouldn't be you without it. Keep up the good fight Ms. Gamechamp.
Man, I love when Ms. Gamechamp's video stop being about video games and start being about breaking physics theories or quantum superpositions
And I LOVE IT
I love the way your voice sounds :3
the first 10 minutes of this felt like Greek philosophers arguing. another fantastic video as always!
To be completely honest, I'd love to see this challenge be done in sonic 06.
I just wanna say I really love hearing your voice with each new video
You could also use a laptop with a touchscreen to avoid ever having to move the mouse left and right, if you really want.
Or just use the mobile ports
