this made me realize i have a lot of product don't use and it ends up expired, definitely putting a stop to overconsumption and we aren't beauty gurus or makeup artists to hoard all that makeup
I love videos like this because it’s against overconsumerism and hoarding. It’s the kind of life I’m living and am trying to maintain but still be able to do make up and look presentable ❤️
This is a very good example of "It's about quality, not quantity"! I love your 3 categories it makes so much sense! I'm hoping to reduce my makeup collection as I use them all or they expire and do essentials and then have a few extras for color choices for lips and eyes etc. and what I loved the most here is a combo of high end and drugstore products!
This video is actually really good for a beginner. Or someone coming back to make-up after a long time like myself. Especially as I have a habit of over buying because I have to get everything of a certain thing I'm interested in. I have for example many books. I'm not a minimalist but I'm starting to shop more intentionally now as I don't have space in my small flat for more stuff!.
I like wearing makeup and getting dressed up, but I hate the feeling of foundation and most “everyday” makeup looks are too overwhelming and have so many products. I found this video super helpful! I love the idea of having products that work together so you can get multiple looks with a small collection.
I’m adding eyeshadow palette, the inglot duraline and a red lipstick, remove the pencils and it’s perfect for me( i always use red lipstick and love colourfull eye look, the duraline transform the eyeshadow in eyeliner)
Love this video, thank you! I wonder if you might please consider making a video about how to avoid falling into the trap of overconsumption of makeup. The level of hype out there (influencers etc) is such a challenge for those wanting to be mindful about purchasing. x
I loved this video! We're inundated with so much content and consumerism when it comes to makeup, and this is a breath of fresh air. To the dressed-up look, I'd add that a bold lipstick can totally transform a look and dress it up. We don't really need much ❤ Thank you
Thank you kindly! I'm glad you enjoyed :) I have been there before with a bold lip colour; it's not the right time for me now, but maybe in the future I will add one back in! Great suggestion :)
Love this! I’m a minimal person typically but after getting into makeup and with beauty gurus and TikTok influencers, I’ve noticed that I’ll start buying things that I don’t need. Love your ideology of having products that you can layer and create 3 different types of makeup looks for different occasions. I’m using this as a base.
Oh I'm so glad this resonated! I have been there too; even at the beginning of this channel I had much more makeup...it takes time to turn the ship around!
your dressed up makeup is just about my everyday makeup lol. But, this is helpful to consider when getting rid of makeup for me and also buying new makeup. Can totally get behind the idea
Im really enjoyed your makeup bags.. in the bunch of viral makeup, i think we often forgot those makeup that really what we love. Less is more and your makeup collection is cute tiny but mighty. Im definetely gonna deculetter my makeup into this section like yours. Thank for the idea ❤
Over the years I streamlined my makeup routine to save time in the mornings: Moisturiser and sunscreen - never varies. Foundation, Loose Powder and Eyeliner (dark brown eyeliner matches with every concept) - never varies. Depending on what colours I'm wearing for my outfit, I then decide whether to go with a more pink, or more peachy orange, concept for my Eyeshadow, Blush and Lipstick. (always make sure all 3 are in the same colour family when applied). If I'm feeling in a dressier mood, add in a Highlighter on cheeks and eyes for extra shine.
Ugh you said everything so incredibly eloquent especially the disclaimer at the end. Some people are creative in makeup and I love the fact that you mentioned that there isn’t anything wrong with either 💗💯
This comment meant a lot! I always give a disclaimer because NOTHING in this life is one size fits all....including this makeup formula. I want this to be a source of inspiration for people who watch, not a judgement for those who have a different strategy when it comes to makeup! So I appreciate that you understood where I was coming from and my intention behind this video :)
I love the concept of making a "makeup formula" for three categories of occasions! For me, my dressed down is just sunscreen and lip balm. For every day, I just add a brow pencil. The rest goes to the dressed up occasions. I would love to wear mascara more regularly (since it's supposed to be thrown out 3-6 months after opening), but I only have micellar water which takes long to remove mascara and increases chances of accidentally pulling out one or two eyelashes (at least in my experience, with the gentlest swiping and pressing motions possible).
I'm happy you like the concept and it made you think about your own occasions! That's exactly what this video was meant to do :) it sounds like you have beautiful routines!
Love it, so good. :) Dressed down for me would be curled lashes fixed with lip balm + sheer lipstick + combed eyebrows. Dressed down is my everyday, so your everyday would rather be meeting friends, daytime dates for me. For those I add blush + gloss + mascara, maybe concealer and translucent powder if needed. Dressed up I add shimmery eyeshadow + sometimes liquid or khole eyeliner + more opaque lipstick and gloss with more shine or slight shimmer + sometimes lipliner for longevity underneath + some concealer and powder if needed + sometimes primer for my nose pores, very rarely nowadays bronzer/contour.
You are so pretty!!❤ and I love the way you broke down the categories. As a makeup minimalist I feel like I just do the same look for everything, so this is nice to see how just a few products make a subtle difference!
I'm still in my early 20s but Im trying my best to have a minimal make up collection. I clicked on this vid to get some ideas and I was not disappointed:)) thank u mam
Hi, I stumbled upon this video and I love it. I am clueless about make up, want to wear some, but I do not want big collection. I just want to have something necessary that I sure will use. This video is perfect, thanks!
Oh wow, I loved this video so much! I used to buy every eyeshadow palette that launched and multiple foundations and all kinds of nonsense. As I've gotten older, I now have a deeper appreciation for a simple, signature look and being less wasteful! Your skin looks lovely-that's really the best blank canvas there is! Thank you for sharing your process!
I definitely overcomsumed when it came to makeup too! Over time I came to appreciate exactly what you have mentioned, a simplified makeup routine! Thank you for your kind comment :)
i really love the dress down!! i unconsciously do that on daily basis when i go grocery shopping or working out. however i add a bit of lip product or lip gloss to pop out some color to my face bcs my lip can be seem so pale without it
oh how i wish to go back in time and never participate in 2016 makeup overconsumption era. Now im stuck with drawers full of makeup products that don't even fit my style or features :( i admire this philosophy, it's so sophisticated. Love the aesthetics, love the idea of "quick and simple, yet effective." Just effortlessly creates that personal signature look for every occasion. Great video Hanna!
Thank you so much! Hey, I've been at a point too where I consumed much more than needed when it came to makeup...the important thing is that you've recognized that's not what you want for your future! :)
Hi, I loved your video! But can you please tell me the shades of the Nudestix concealer and Charlotte T powder you use? I'm have the same skintone as you are. 😊😊
Really cool approach to make up. My everyday is very similar to yours: concealer, powder, cream blush and brow product. The only difference is that I typically choose thin brown liner instead of mascara. Few years ago I was quite into make up but since then really cut down on how much cosmetics I use. I distributed some stuff among my family and friends and I’m dedicated to create a perfect collection with time - still using up old products but not buying new ones which I don’t need
Thanks for sharing! I have been there too. Even since starting this channel my makeup has changed pretty drastically. I hope you enjoy the process of whittling down and finding what works for you :)
Hi Hanna! Loved your video! I’m also a minimalist when it comes to makeup and pretty much follow a similar routine as yours before going out to do errands, etc. Concealer, brow pencil, mascara, blush, lip pencil & gloss. Also love the combination of lip pencils with gloss over the top. Less is more! Thanks for your video!
Very clear and practical techniques and products. I also have a similar capsule, but I vary between three lipsticks according to my clothes palette. And for dressing up, I introduce different colors of eyeliners. With that I'm good to go!
One thing I am sure of is that change happens! I appreciate your approach to the process. We can definitely glean ideas from all that you share with us! Thank you, so much!
this is perfect! my everyday makeup is actually your dress down makeup, but sometimes i feel like adding something different. i usually just go for concealer, setting powder and mascara. still trying to get used to a bit of cream blush and lipgloss for my everyday look :)
I am also in the process of creating a minimal makeup collection. It’s not super minimal now😅 I have had some fails while trying to find the products that work, but I am doing my best to use them up or gift them to family. The reason why I don’t just “use what I have” is because I haven’t worn makeup for years and most things expired. But here is my plan for the minimal collection I want to get to after downsizing as someone who loves to wear a lot of makeup: -Danessa Myrics groundwork palettes (they work as eyeshadow, eyeliner, brow powder/pomade, lipstick, lipliner, blush, bronzer and contour. I will not be buying most of these again separately.) -Made by Mitchell curve case for colour correcting and some fun blushes. This can be used for bronzer and contour as well. -Individual eyeshadows for fun colours that I use, I built myself a Lethal palette. I will not be buying any full palettes where I don’t use all the shades. - 1 everyday lipstick (refillable Lisa Eldridge or YSl) - 1 lipgloss, 1 lipbalm -Mascara -nyx jumbo eyeliner in white -Nars soft matte concealer and a foundation -loose powder -1eyeshadow quad for travel -eyebrow pencil for travel -1 highlighter ( dior backstage universal) + a couple fun mini lipsticks (samples + mac minis). I’d never use up a full size red for example, but it’s so nice to have one for special occasions.
Btw! If anyone ever reads this lethal makes water activated eyeliners that fit in the eyeshadow palette! You can mix pretty much all colours if you get the primaries and since they aren’t liquid they won’t expire so fast and they will last a long time!
Thanks for posting this. I usually do either no makeup, fancy makeup or fancy+ makeup. Sometimes, i dont feel like makeup on bc i dont feel like doing an hour on my makeup, not realizing it's totally okay to just go out with concealer and powder which in turn makes me feel worse bc i know i dont look put together. Btw, i grew up around the 2016 makeup trend where baking was normalized so i thought it was an everyday look.
Thanks for sharing! I love that you wear no makeup or go right to fancy :) I think that's a great strategy too! There certainly isn't a "one size fits all" solution to makeup, or anything for that matter, and it's great you've found a few makeup looks (or lack thereof) that work for you :)
How did you find your colours? Especially for the lips and eyes? Because your Makeup colours fit you PERFECTLY....and as a beginner I'm kind of struggeling right now (I don't know if I should go for peachy colours or more pink/purpleish...etc.)
This very well could be an oversimplification, but I have quite warm skin (I would consider myself an autumn), so I go with warmer toned makeup (peachy, warm browns, etc.). For example, let's say I was picking a red lip, I wouldn't go for a blue based red; I would go for an orange based red. I hope that helps you, but remember this is just how I do it and I am by no means an expert!!!
@@4nn4nas98 this could be an out of date method, but you can try looking at your vein colour (greenish indicating warm undertone and blue/purplish indicating cool undertone). That being said, I bet the internet has far better strategies than my simple test!!!
What particular color do you use for the Tarte Maneater Blush & Glow liquid blush and for the Fenty lip gloss? I noticed that you used the Tarte Maneater blush as your eyeshadow as well which looks beautiful on you.
Loved the video Hanna 😍 I totally understood you when you referred to the juicy and mat that you meant liquid and powder, I guess our brains work alike 🥰 this is totally the best makeup video out there, minimal and intentional products but multiple makeup looks for different occasions, love it love it! Ive definitely saw the evolution in your makeup collection and I really enjoy how real you are, evolution is part of life and I will continue being here to see many more evolutions to come 🩷
I love the logic behind all of this. I think that I need to make similar mini collection from what I already have. Do you let me give you an advice? I would put your concealer on inner focusing it a little under and outer corner of your eyes this is your darkest spots. And then blend it on lids and bellow the eye
loved this idea! the b reel reminded me of makeup by matilda; love the flatlay and chill style of presentation! so much makeup content is super high energy but theres a time and place for both :)
Thank you kindly! I really appreciate this comment. I don't want my content to be super overstimulating, but I also want it to be aesthetically pleasing; it's a challenging mix, so I truly appreciate your kind words!
I typically bring every product unless it is more of a beach vacation and then I omit the powder blush, bronzer, and highlighter! I have some old MAC bags that I take during travel :)
This video makes sense a lot! I never had "enough" makeup product and I never know what to add for a dressed up occasion, I just realize that I don't have enough 'matte' product, thankyou! 🥰
I love this! One day, this is the goal to be this whittled down. Where I currently struggle is my base. I'm always falling for the promise of a better concealer, powder, BB cream (also the struggle of getting an unwanted bit of tan in the summer and needing 2 shades...)
I'm glad you enjoyed! I have been there too and actually still seek better/different products from time to time even when I have something that works fine. I'm not perfect either! I don't know if you are looking for advice at all in this, but what helped me was just switching only when my product was completely used up. If a new product was AWFUL for me, I would return or eventually declutter. If a new product was okay, I would use it up and switch to something more promising. If a product was great, I would repurchase that same one. I hope that helps, but if not and if your particular situation is different I completely understand! Take my advice with a grain of salt!!!
I'm minimizing my makeup right now and this is such an awesome video to go off of! I don't do makeup at all but I've been wanting to get into a makeup routine just to feel more put together and have a fun little habit. I have makeup for occasion or to play with but in recent years (maybe it's with age 😅) I've stopped playing with new and bold looks as often as I use to so my multi colored pallets have just been sitting around. I really want to get into the habit of only having things I actually use and getting rid of all the makeup and clothes I don't use has been a good start. I'm not going to be wearing a bold look out to do things and I don't go to many events where I need that anymore so honestly, minimalizing my makeup to just a few quick and easy things is such a fun and nice process. It definitely declutters both my space and the mind. I use to get so overwhelmed with all the makeup options too so having things I know look good on me for a daily is awesome!
I could have written this exact comment a few years ago! I love your perspective on all of this. Keep up the wonderful work :) it seems like decluttering is serving you well and brining positive change in your life!!!
YEARS. I would say I have been slowly whittling down my makeup collection since about 2018 and it did NOT happen overnight. For me, it was bit by bit. Go easy on yourself if it's a slow path and there are bumps along the way!
@@HannaMicheleRoss Sure! I'm not the best at make up and I try all the time to figure it out. My bathroom looks like a bombsite after my 'application' 😆But listening to your wise words on makeup formulas it just all clicked. I've already gone through my stash and reorganised and decluttered. Already I have less anxiety. Thanks once again :)
@@jms3911 oh my gosh your comment meant the world to me. All I want to do is help (in a small way!), and I'm so grateful you shared that this actually helped! I hope you continue to enjoy your more minimal approach to makeup and it serves you well
I can't tell what you put on your eye lids with a brush in the beginning for the casual look. I'd also love to know the shades of blushes, and lip liner.
It is just the concealer and powder! I put both those products on my under eyes and eye lids too. I will do a video all about these three looks down the road though for more detail! Lip liner is in the shade muted pink, liquid blush is colour buff, and powder blush is 52 self-made!
I’ve been getting into the underconsumption trend lately and started getting rid of my expired products and those that I don’t use. I don’t have much makeup that isn’t used daily, except eyeshadows! (I use eyeshadow for outings, causal and fancy).
@ really refreshing. I used to have the mindset of needing to finish everything before I start a new product but now I know that I can have boundaries with makeup-especially expired makeup.
@@mahzabinrahman that's wonderful! I'm glad it feels refreshing :) I always say if you feel lighter, like you have more space, refreshed, etc., it is a sign you're on the right path!!! Let me know how it goes as you move along your journey to a more intentional life
Stumbled upon your video. THIS is the smartest beauty video we all need ! Problen is my blank canvas needs more help than your lovely canvas😊. Thank you!
recently, I felt this enormous guilt over the makeup products I have purchased and never used. I had to give all of it up or throw it away . It made me realise just how toxic overconsumption can be. Gradually, transitioning and embracing minimalist and classic make up and this video appeared on my feed. I also appreciate you for showing broken powder. My old self would have thrown it away in the garbage.
Sure! My liquid blush is in the shade buff, my powder blush is 52 - self made, my bronzer is chocolate soleil, highlighter is incandescent strobe light, lip liner is in muted pink and that extra lip product from Haus Labs is in the shade blush matte :)
Clicked because of the clever thumbnail well done

Such a clever process. The only thing I will add is a skin tint or a tinted moisturizer or tinted sunscreen.

Oh my gosh thank you! I am so glad it sounds like it helped you :) means the world to me!
Ugh, love minimalism, love a formula
Samsies
What i love the most about it is that everything is high quality. You can enjoy life with less but also enjoy yourself ❤
Yes! I don't mind spending a bit more on certain items if I don't buy many and they last me a while :)
Love the thumbnail! So informative 🙌🏼
But here is my plan for the minimal collection I want to get to after downsizing as someone who loves to wear a lot of makeup:
-Danessa Myrics groundwork palettes (they work as eyeshadow, eyeliner, brow powder/pomade, lipstick, lipliner, blush, bronzer and contour. I will not be buying most of these again separately.)
-Made by Mitchell curve case for colour correcting and some fun blushes. This can be used for bronzer and contour as well.
-Individual eyeshadows for fun colours that I use, I built myself a
Lethal palette. I will not be buying any full palettes where I don’t use all the shades.
- 1 everyday lipstick (refillable Lisa Eldridge or YSl)
- 1 lipgloss, 1 lipbalm
-Mascara
-nyx jumbo eyeliner in white
-Nars soft matte concealer and a foundation
-loose powder
-1eyeshadow quad for travel
-eyebrow pencil for travel
-1 highlighter ( dior backstage universal)
+ a couple fun mini lipsticks (samples + mac minis).
This is absolutely genius 😮 i have never seen anyone making this😃 we always think about the outfit but not really the makeup.
I'm so glad you like it! I actually use a similar formula for everything beauty/fashion related...helps keep my on track!
@@HannaMicheleRoss Thank you, do you also maybe have recommendations to find out whether you have warm or cool skin?
@@4nn4nas98 this could be an out of date method, but you can try looking at your vein colour (greenish indicating warm undertone and blue/purplish indicating cool undertone). That being said, I bet the internet has far better strategies than my simple test!!!
@@HannaMicheleRoss thank you so much for the advice!! 💕💕
@@4nn4nas98 you're welcome! I hope it helps :)
What particular color do you use for the Tarte Maneater Blush & Glow liquid blush and for the Fenty lip gloss? I noticed that you used the Tarte Maneater blush as your eyeshadow as well which looks beautiful on you.
Hi! I use the Tarte product in Buff and the gloss was in the shade Fenty Glow (I did not like the shade though...it was way too orange for me)
Loved the video Hanna 😍 I totally understood you when you referred to the juicy and mat that you meant liquid and powder, I guess our brains work alike 🥰 this is totally the best makeup video out there, minimal and intentional products but multiple makeup looks for different occasions, love it love it! Ive definitely saw the evolution in your makeup collection and I really enjoy how real you are, evolution is part of life and I will continue being here to see many more evolutions to come 🩷
Sara!!! As always, you have the sweetest, kindest comments. I always appreciate reading what you have to say
I love the logic behind all of this. I think that I need to make similar mini collection from what I already have. Do you let me give you an advice? I would put your concealer on inner focusing it a little under and outer corner of your eyes this is your darkest spots. And then blend it on lids and bellow the eye
I'm so glad you enjoyed! Thank you kindly for the suggestion :) love your thinking!
Wow! I absolutely loved this strategy! 🤩Thanks a lot! That'll make my life so easier and I'll think twice when repurchasing something. 👏
Yay!!! This comment means a lot :) I'm glad you enjoyed
U r already so beautiful even without makeup 😊 thx for the video
😊 thank you! That is so kind
loved this idea! the b reel reminded me of makeup by matilda; love the flatlay and chill style of presentation! so much makeup content is super high energy but theres a time and place for both :)
Thank you kindly! I really appreciate this comment. I don't want my content to be super overstimulating, but I also want it to be aesthetically pleasing; it's a challenging mix, so I truly appreciate your kind words!
This is a great video thank you for sharing. When you travel what bag do you use? Do you take all the products when traveling?
I typically bring every product unless it is more of a beach vacation and then I omit the powder blush, bronzer, and highlighter! I have some old MAC bags that I take during travel :)
this is amazing!! You’re literally so gorgeous btw
Thank you :) you're so kind!
This video makes sense a lot! I never had "enough" makeup product and I never know what to add for a dressed up occasion, I just realize that I don't have enough 'matte' product, thankyou! 🥰
Glad it was helpful! :)
So far best video i've watched on 2024. Thank you for the helpful video and for being kind by replying the comment section ❤
Wow, thank you! This is such a sweet comment :) You made my day!
clicked for the title, stayed because youre olive like me!!!
This is so helpful for someone who is just starting out makeup!!
That's great to hear! I was hoping it would be :)
Absolutely fantastic!
Thank you so much!
Can you make a video explaining your tools and aplication of make up. I am specially interested in the blush, lips and eyeshadow
Yes, I absolutely will down the road!!!
@@HannaMicheleRoss it is! I'm excited for this new phase in my life 🥰 thank you for posting this video!
NICE! These days this is exactly what I want!
You and me both!
How long it it take you to get use to wearing less? I want to but always add more.
YEARS. I would say I have been slowly whittling down my makeup collection since about 2018 and it did NOT happen overnight. For me, it was bit by bit. Go easy on yourself if it's a slow path and there are bumps along the way!
Happy Birthday 🎉
2:57 You mentioned a tutorial/tip type video, where would I look for that?
Hi! They haven't been recorded yet :)
@@HannaMicheleRoss I will be patient 🫡
This is so awesome !!
:)
This is such a good idea
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it :)
Thank you for your insight. Its really refreshing and I had an epiphany!
AH!!! :) That makes me so happy! Do you mind sharing what it was? If not, no worries!
I hope you continue to enjoy your more minimal approach to makeup and it serves you well
This is what I was looking for! Thank you!!
So glad! :)
@@HannaMicheleRoss I ended up finding the shades in another of your videos! Thank you for creating this great content!
@@SteelMagnolia99 so glad you enjoyed!!!
I’ve been getting into the underconsumption trend lately and started getting rid of my expired products and those that I don’t use. I don’t have much makeup that isn’t used daily, except eyeshadows! (I use eyeshadow for outings, causal and fancy).
That's amazing! How is it feeling to declutter?
@ really refreshing. I used to have the mindset of needing to finish everything before I start a new product but now I know that I can have boundaries with makeup-especially expired makeup.
@@mahzabinrahman that's wonderful! I'm glad it feels refreshing :) I always say if you feel lighter, like you have more space, refreshed, etc., it is a sign you're on the right path!!! Let me know how it goes as you move along your journey to a more intentional life
What colour is your lip gloss from Fenty Beauty please. Lovely video, thank you!
Shade is Fenty Glow 01 but I must admit, it is not my favourite on me! Very orangey if you like that sort of colour!!!
JUICY FORMULATION !!!
jajajajajajaja
Absolutely great😊pls do a vedio on how to stop getting influenced to get more products...
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll put it on the list and see if I come up with something meaningful when I brainstorm for that video

Where do you keep your makeup
Just a small 3 drawer organizer cube :)
This is the vid I need !
Love that! So glad you enjoyed :)
I loved this video so much, thank you! xx
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :)
Very nice. Everyday was my favorite.
Same here! The best of both worlds :)
Great formula. Thanks for sharing ❤

Stumbled upon your video. THIS is the smartest beauty video we all need ! Problen is my blank canvas needs more help than your lovely canvas😊. Thank you!

Awesome video! Thank you 💗
So glad you liked it :)
May I ask the shade you used for Nudestix?
4 :)
@@HannaMicheleRossThank you so much!
recently, I felt this enormous guilt over the makeup products I have purchased and never used. I had to give all of it up or throw it away . It made me realise just how toxic overconsumption can be. Gradually, transitioning and embracing minimalist and classic make up and this video appeared on my feed. I also appreciate you for showing broken powder. My old self would have thrown it away in the garbage.
How has that transition been? Has it felt right to you? Thank you kindly for your comment! :)
@@HannaMicheleRoss yes it felt right and very freeing (mentally and emotionally) why do I need a lot of stuff if I am not going to use them anyway.
@@PuvaRajasegaran I love to hear that! I wish you the best of luck on your more minimal journey
@@HannaMicheleRoss thank you and creators like you really help as I make that transition 💕
@@PuvaRajasegaran you're so sweet! Thank you for the compliment :)
Great Video, where can I find the shades you used?
I don't typically list them but happy to answer here if you have specific items you have questions about!
@@HannaMicheleRossI would love a list of the colors, please! Especially the cheeks and lip liner ones ❤
Sure! My liquid blush is in the shade buff, my powder blush is 52 - self made, my bronzer is chocolate soleil, highlighter is incandescent strobe light, lip liner is in muted pink and that extra lip product from Haus Labs is in the shade blush matte :)
