Minimalism isn’t getting rid of everything you own and only have basic things. It’s narrowing down your belonging to things that you actually use, things that bring you joy or things that mean a lot to you. I hope this clears out the confusion some people have in the comments saying “but I like a pop of colour” you can own colourful makeup and still be a minimalist
Love the video. To answer your question I use 6 products: 1. Concealer 2. Blush Stick 3. Mascara 4. Brow Pencil 5. Brow Gel 6. Lipstick And 2 tools: 1. Makeup Brush 2. Eyelash Curler
I really loved your video and your calm approach and style speaks to me. The lipstick I use the most is the same as you, Lip Stories ‘Oui’, but I never thought of using it on my eyes and cheeks. It works great! It looks so nice to have a tidy small tray of makeup on the shelf, it makes the decision process easier in the morning.
I am so glad my video resonates with you. I really appreciate the supportive comment. 💞 I think I had to do my makeup when I was out and about one day and only had the lipstick… my skin never reacted poorly to it, so i’ve been doing it ever since! Thanks for watching! 💫
I've always been minimal on the face and occasionally fun eyes and deep lips. I never grew out of my subtle goth phase just like to let my skin breathe. Color is minimal if you aren't excessive and buying things you don't use. I don't wear black lipstick but have 2 deep eggplant lipsticks because I wear them once a week.
Loved both your looks. I tend to use concealer under eye, brow pencil and a lip oil or creamy lip color 99% of the time. I have a bit more but think I have to go through and declutter some.
The minimal makeup look for me includes SPF 50 with tint, concealer, mascara, all in one blush for lips and cheeks and bronzer. No tools, just fingers, oh except my eye sponge for concealer. 😀
For an everyday look I use… 1. Skin tint 2. Concealer for under eyes 3. Setting powder for T zone 4. Brow powder 5. Brow gel 6. Stick shadow…single colour 7. Eyeliner for upper eyelid 8. Blush (which serves as a bronze too) 9. Lipliner & lipstick topped with lipgloss No tools except for power puff for setting powder
I'm trying to go minimalist with my makeup but it's hard because I still like colors from time to time. I will try to use up what I have. I am selling and letting go of some of it to my friends. I personally find I reach for the same type of colors from day to day. Sometimes I just like a pop of color. Sometimes I just wear something to even out my skin tone.
It’s certainly been a slow evolution for me! I hear you on a pop of color. Sometimes you just want to mix it up. Happy decluttering and thank you so much for watching!! ✨
Love this video! Im currently into minimalist makeup, and i have 1 of each makeup product except eyeshadows, so im waiting to use up ones i have and leave myself with just very few products i want to have!☺
Hi! I went through my makeup recently and decluttered a large majority of it since it either expired or it wasn’t suited for me (didn’t suit my complexion, didn’t feel nice, or I just didn’t like it). Here’s what I use now (and in the order I use it): Primer: Target branded aloe-vera gel. Foundation: Tower 28 tinted SPF. Concealer: NARS soft matte concealer. Blush: CLE lip and cheek melting powder (I need a new one but not this brand because it is to expensive). Eyeshadow: ELF bite-sized palettes (one is all pink shades and another is browns). Liners: Stila liquid liner and Stila pencil liner. Brow and Mascara: ULTA brow gel in clear (i also use this as a daily mascara and it works really nice) and the Tower 28 mascara. Lip: I go through a lot of lip products but recently I received a Kulfi Beauty tinted staining lip oil and it’s amazing!!!! Like it’s one of the best products that I own. Another product I use is the Tower 28 lip jelly since it’s so smooth and non-sticky. The last one I’d recommend is the Kaja Beauty Juicy Glass oil since it is so moisturizing. Powder: My skin runs really oily so let me tell you that the tower 28 powder is soooo amazing for my skin type. Setting Spray: I like the Milani make it last setting spray since it locks everything in without making my skin look more oily than it is. And that’s it! Sometimes I only use certain products in a day but other times I change it up!
I love this! Especially the second look, it is exactly what I've been looking for! I thought it seemed a little french inspired. I'm wondering... How did you pick the lipstick? Did you swatch in store? What was your thought with getting the second lip stick. Did you just know what you like and grab it? I'm so new to makeup like this and I don't want to waste money finding what I like.
Not the most satisfying answer, but I really found the colors through trial and error. I’d rec sticking to the drugstore brands to start (Wet & Wild has $1 lipsticks) & once you find a shade that you like, you can always upgrade to a nicer brand in a similar shade! I haven’t swatched in store, but i did use an app to find my ‘Seasonal Color Analysis’ that rec’d some shades for me based on my coloring. The app is called ‘My Best Colors’ in the app store if you’re interested in that. I think the main thing is first determining if you have warm or cool undertones in your skin, hair etc. If you are cool, a cool bubblegum pink would be better than a warm peach for example. Best of luck! I am just winging it over here lol.
I loved the video and small makeup collections in general. 💕 My makeup collection is really small and I also have products for 2 "looks" (everyday & dressed up/nicer events/etc.): 1. Concealer: Araza Beauty -- Coconut Corrective Cream Concealer (color = peach, color corrector) 2. Foundation (used for fancier events): Araza Beauty -- All In One Coconut Cream Foundation (color = 200/winter, 220/summer) 3. Liquid eyeliner: NakedPoppy -- Clean Liquid Eyeliner-Black 4. Mascara: TOK Beauty -- Eyes that Tok-Lash Enhancing Mascara (it's my favorite applicator tip I've tried and is easy to put on & build up) 5. Eyeshadow pallete: 100% Pure -- Fruit Pigmented Rose Gold Pallete (I love wearing shimmery pink eyeshadow) 6. Lipstick: Vapour -- Lip Nectar-Hint (I also have a Burt's Bees tinted lip balm I swap in sometimes) 7. Setting powder (used very rarely when needed) Tools: 3 makeup brushes (foundation, eyeshadow, & setting powder) Q-tips (for smoothing the edges of the eyeliner) I like to use the "highlighter" in the eyeshadow pallete for my everyday eyeshadow and the blush as eyeshadow for nicer events when I don't feel like using the shimmery pinks. My favorite feature of my face is my green eyes so my very minimal makeup is mostly to make them stand out. I might have to try a lash curler and layered mascara in the near future; I love a thin line of eyeliner but it does take extra time to clean up the edges.
Plumping lip tint Eye balm Color correcting moisturizer Mascara and eyeliner Liquid blush Elf suntouchable whoa glow sunscreen or a separate sunscreen and then bronzing drops Thats how i went foundation and concealer free
What great tips going to get the eye palette and Sephora lip/cheek as well as mascara I’m tired of having to buy waterproof bc of smudges. About to retire so checking out your video with your mom next. ❤️🇨🇦
Love you video, your collection, and the end result :) I don't think at all this is extreme, on the contraty I think the collection this size is reasonable. I really had a problem with buying too much makeup. It was like an addiction. But, I somehow I menaged to overcome that. I didn't declutter anything, but I moved to different country and I only brought the following products, and I am really happy with how I look using them: 1. Kanebo Sensai bronzing gel - it gives very natural glow to the face, fresh and healthy looking, repurchased 2. Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation, 2 shades - it also looks undetevtable, and evens out my complexion nicely, sometimes I like using it, repurchased 3. Loreal Khol Eyeliner Pencil - easy to apply and easy to smudge, repurchased 4. Loreal Eyeliner Felt tip, repurchased 5. Golden Rose Lipliner - It looks natural and makes my lips look so much fuller, repurchased 6. Chanel Allure Velvet in L'Adoree - it was a LE collection from 2014, it is in a perfectly good condition 7. Loreal Lash Paradise mascara, repurchased No tools, I use my fingers. I have a lot more in my homecountry, and will be using up one by one product. Or throw them away if they go bad. Sorry for such a long comment.
I LOVE a long comment! Thank you for watching - i’m so glad you enjoyed it & could relate. I feel like move or a vacation is the perfect scenario to realize that life can be easier with less, esp. w/ beauty products. Love L’oréal Lash Paradise! L’oréal Voluminous was my go to for like 10 years. Same with the L’oréal felt tip liner. Had been skipping liner, but am thinking about bringing my cat eye back. Will check out your other products listed, too. Thanks for sharing!! ✨💞
I feel you! I held onto an Urban Decay eyeshadow palette from high school for YEARS. I think I kept it because it was expensive, and also because I felt like everyone "needs" a big eyeshadow palette in their collection. There are so many reasons we hold onto products -- it's interesting to dig a little deeper and ask why. Enjoy your makeup declutter! And thanks so much for watching! :)
Please tell me where is this cute creamy jumper from? It looks so good on you:)very elegant, and romantic style which i really like. I also like your make up collection, definately want to minimize mine as well:)
Hi Anna! Thanks for your kind comment. I fell in love when I saw the sweater, too. I bought it at a local boutique here in California. The brand is Miou Mouse. I just looked up the brand & it's one of those wholesaler brands that sell directly to small shops. I sadly can't find it anywhere else online -- sorry! I hope you find a jumper that looks just like it this holiday season. All the best. xx
