    Great review Matt! I'm still on my Fenix 5, but seriously considering trying out a polar watch. Hoping you and your family are safe and sound during the fires!

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I'd stick with the Fenix 5 as long as possible. And there might be a lot of new options for you over the next few months or whenever you actually need a new watch. The fires here are bad. We're all stuck inside because of the smoke. Might be tricky to get too much time on this new bike. 😬

    Your B-Roll is always so good. I need to take some lessons. Nice comparison! I agree with most of your points. The 945 is compatible with Garmin Quick fit bands which are WAY easier to swap out!

    • @mlegrand

      I haven't used the Garmin Quick fit bands. I honestly don't switch watch bands too often. I'm guessing you just switch out this band with the Quick Fit ones? Thanks for the kind words on the b-roll. I'm probably spending too much time on such things. 😂

But you and I are basically in the same world (more tri focused), and there just isn't a better product out there than Garmin for that world. It's definitely time for me to get the radar. Matt, great video as always. Just curious on your thoughts about buying an older watch like the 945. Would the software hold up over the next couple years. I’d like to keep the watch for several years and just wondering how long the watches usually last.

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      945 should last a few years. I would probably consider waiting until they either have a new announcement and picking up whatever is new or getting the previous model at a discounted price. I’d expect deep discounts on Black Friday for holiday shopping. Also might be worth looking at the 745 that should be announced this week and seeing if that would be enough. I’m guessing the lower price point will mean a lower battery life but we’ll find out here soon.

    Hi. I respect one thing. I was watching so many other reviews. And nobody said, what you paid attention to and what is so obvious for someone who uses such a stuff. I mean that the touch screen in such an appliance, makes completely no sense. I remember one running trip in the mountains. I was very close to the top of the mountain, when terrible thunder storm started. Pouring rain, thunders and... Me... trying to switch off my phone just to lower the chance of being blessed with lightning strike. The film of water on the screen made it nearly impossible! So yes. Especially in trail running - our hands are so often covered with sweat, mud, sand... It simply makes no sense.
    And one more thanks for the way you speak. With such a pronunciation you could easily earn money with teaching the language. Just a thing to consider ;) For sure you can get wide international audience!

      @TheMarciocanavez 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A lot of complaints on social networks, Polar needs to change its update policy or it will lose support from its large community. There is no explanation for a watch as new as grit X not receiving at least the recovery pro. Remembering that it would just be a software update

    I have a 5s. At this point a watch company could get my attention if they offer better coaching , if polar could hit it out of the park in this feature I'd spend. Garmin confuses me with training status like productive or maintaining as it doesn't tell me how to be more productive . I'll have to try Garmin coach someday as it offers running plans.

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Polar does do a good job with that aspect of training but it's not something that I would rely on from either company. I think it's just good general feedback. I like using HRV in particular. I'd hold onto the 5s for as long as possible. Should be a lot of new options this fall and next Spring. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

      Steve, are you still happy with the 5? Would you consider the software out of date or does it still do everything you need? I’d love to get the 6 but for the price it’s hard to justify but I also don’t want to get an older watch that turns out to be obsolete in a couple months.

    • @mlegrand

It is excellent for biking and running without any quarks. It is the best watch out there for the money in my opinion. Could you please tell me how to set the watch to pick up my vari radar and how to get the ant to find my old Garmin sensors that are not Bluetooth? Thanks
