to be fair, the 2D controls were VERY well implemented, you basically had the whole mario 64 set within this game, and thats really impressive, considering its a meme game
Just about the same can be said for Super Mario 63, the only difference being that it was trying to be a serious 2D Mario game.
And that could be a glitchy mess, unlike this.

When someone uses old memes unexpectedly in games like this, I find it charming in a way (usually). This is where we started out and it's pretty rarely seen nowadays so it's fun to go back and remember what the internet was back then. Yet, other people seem to think it's that word that we like to throw around all the time that starts with a C.
But when Nintendo throws 8-bit Mario into every single modern Mario game, people find it clever and act like it's interesting and new. I think it's overdone and honestly pretty lazy when they have so many other classic games - Mario or not - to reference... or the option of not trying to reference old games in the first place.

I reviewed this game a couple of years ago; it was for an MFGG minigame competition. I don't remember what the theme was, other than memes, but I think it was the one involving N64 parodies. (mine involved Goldeneye; maybe Vinny will eventually get his hands on it somehow)

So, I know the story about this game:
It was made for a Joke Game competition that lasted 3 weeks, if I remember correctly. The theme was "remake a N64 game."
3 games were made for this competition: a Zelda parody called Majora is Spoopy, a Goldeneye parody that I don't remember well, and SM64: Really Good Edition. (There actually was a second Goldeneye game, but it wasn't finished in time for voting.)
Mario 64 Really Good Edition won, and some guy called Cruise Elroy made said game.
Me on the other hand... I made the Zelda game, and Nintendo promptly took it down a month after. 😂
