  • Join Douglas as he takes his son, Adam, back out on the hills to climb Dumyat. Dumyat is the rocky little cub of the Ochils, far lower than the main range but packed with character. It has a superb position on the fringe of the range overlooking Stirling and the Central Belt; the views are superb. A perfect first hillwalk on a fine day.

Well done Adam. Loved the Big Ben comment and Adam's method of getting through the gate without opening it.

Thanks Russell! You can pretty much always count on kids to say and do amusing things 😂

Was planning another walk this week, when staying in Stirling on holiday, then stumbled on this video. My son's called Adam (and has a Big Ben obsession) so decided it was a sign! He's 4 and managed great. These Ochil Hills really are an underatted little range. Cheers for the video.

    Absolutely superb stuff 👏🏼
I don't know how to say that hill either, I pronounce it like it's spelled... Dum Yat 😂
If only I had the energy and ability to slide under gates, I'd be a happy man.
Excellent wee day out and why not look at Loudoun Hill for a wee climb and Wallace history. It's almost the same size as Everest too 😉

      Its pronounced Du-my-at.

I only found out the pronunciation last year, courtesy of a friend who lives in the area. I use to say Dum Yat as well 😂
You know I’d complete forgotten about Loudoun Hill - used to go there as a kid! Will need to take Adam one time 👍
      Cheers, Douglas

@@HighlandHikers Oh Douglas, you mean you haven't watched my Loudoun Hill video 😟😭 😉
It's had a good bit of regeneration with new paths and fences. It would be a great walk for little legs and brilliant no matter which way around you walked the base (I'd say go via the 'forest' at the back).
      Great stuff as always 👍🏼

That shot of the Wallace Monument was delicious. Some good running footage - that's the energy we like! I enjoyed this video a lot.

Great video. On Douglas' recommendation I took my own son, who is 5, to climb this recently and he loved it.
