Unless this video is satire at its worst, then this guy has just made a random video about all the wee places outside of Glasgow, without looking at the actual demographics of each place. He’s taken his pre conceived ideas of what he thinks the population of Scotland is like, either from stereotypes or just a pure dislike of Scottish people. Scotland like everywhere has some dismal towns of course it does, but it’s also got some very beautiful towns, and you’ll find that most people here are hard working and decent. Not junkies or robbers as you say. It’s easy to find information about a locality without having to make it up. Have a look at the place standard tool for more information on small towns. Doing some research before making a video makes all the difference.
I recognise quite a few of the lines he used from a thing I saw where people from various towns were trying to make comedic reviews of their own towns in the most scathing way. Elgin shouldn't be on this list - cathedral city with access to beautiful coastlines (I mean stunning - people are amazed by the Moray coast whenever they visit) and gold sandy beaches which offer the best surfing and windsurfing in Scotland outside of Thurso, loads of history in Moray, it is the whiskey county of Scotland, beautiful nature walks all over, good access to Cairngorms, furthermore a quaint town centre and most importantly the area with the least rainfall across the entirety of Scotland! For people who need 20 different bars on their doorstep they will be disappointed but there is more to life than getting rat arsed in a pub on a rainy night in Glasgow. I would never live on the west coast as it rains constantly, Edinburgh is too expensive, and Aberdeen is soulless - the Highland / Moray area is the best kept secret in Scotland for quality of life.
Elgin is a charming historical town with enterprising local businesses, an abundance of natural beauty, and a strong sense of community. For those who appreciate a quieter life, surrounded by nature and with easy access to other parts of rural Scotland. Is Elgin a nice place to live? It is indeed.
His awful mispronunciation undermines his comments - you know he's never heard of (let alone been to) any of these places - not that it's a serious review anyway. Personally, if someone says something negative about Scotland I tend to get triggered, (as most Scots do I think) but yeah, fair enough, some points hit the mark. It would be better if he shared his OWN experience rather than making anecdotal videos of what 'he's heard'.
Mike Ryan has it absolutely correct which suggests a lack of research on the part of Learning Canteen. The opening scene in this and another of the ‘Worst’ videos shows Oban which isn’t mentioned in either so presumably doesn’t fit into this category but the video title suggests it does. Makes it hard to consider these videos objective.
Elgin Cathedral has been in ruins for centuries - and is a major tourist attraction! You can't use that against it!! Also, why all the pictures of Oban, when it's not on the list?
What's so bad about Motherwell?, I've lived there for 4 years and it's more better than this list it has more people than "Ghost town" plus the shopping centres aren't that bad its better than other places, By the way it's pronounced wish-AW not wish-OW

And why show Ibrox Stadium (in Glasgow) when you're talking about Falkirk ?! Have to agree re Paisley and Greenock though.
I have been to all the places on this list. but I do think there may be other places that are worse. Greenock is for shops not as bad as Gourock. And Falkirk at least has some places of interest. the wheel and the kelpies. nu 1 - is a weird place although the shops are all indoors they are on different levels, and there can be a long walk between them. it is a giant block of concrete with zero style. really to say that the shops are on both side of a main road and you are taken over it without seeing it. the shopping has no logic to it. Any town can have problems with drink and drugs. also beggar's. if its based on that than Glasgow would be number 1. I would bring up Maypole as a dirty place to be the main street with dirty windows due to the trucks going down it as a place for this list.
@@l3awjawz yes.. So you have been there only a few shops, there is no reason to stop a look around it does not even seem to have a good park to walk around.

You're handy for the Bush Campus of Edinburgh University though... where the vet school moved after leaving the Dick Institute. Are these names connected? I wouldn't like to guess.

Jesus, at least make an effort, sounded like you were using Wikipedia as a script.. bordered on the South East by some random river.. zzzzz. Voiceover sounded like it was going through the motions. Gotta love it when an Englishman is making blanket assumptions on locations he has clearly never been to before. If he had then he'd know what he's saying about every location mentioned is utter tripe and lacks the objectivity he has the brass neck to ask for. As a native of Falkirk myself this is utter keech!
Even people who understand the Scottish accent have trouble understanding the accents from those places. There are also places in Wales such as Aberdare where they speak in such an undecipherable way you would think they were speaking a foreign language.

REN-frew-shire not Ren-FROO-shire. Coat-BRIDGE not COAT-bridge. WEEMS not Wehm-iss (Wemyss). And East Kilbride, Motherwell, Cumbernauld and Falkirk aren't meant to be nice places, they're meant to be dormitory towns for bigger cities. And why show Ibrox Stadium (in Glasgow) when you're talking about Falkirk ?! Have to agree re Paisley and Greenock though.
He was trying to show Falkirk being shite and thought people would notice if he posted a picture of Kandahar?
You mean Maybole in South Ayrshire? Aye that is a cowp.
@@l3awjawz yes.. So you have been there only a few shops, there is no reason to stop a look around it does not even seem to have a good park to walk around.
Wtf is this? Basically just listing large towns. Far worse places than these, and some of the reasons given are absolute nonsense. Stick to commenting on places you actually know things about. Didn't know ibrox was in Falkirk either lol.
Surprised Fraserburgh never made the list.
It had the highest number of heroin addicts per head of population in Europe. The town's centre was all boarded up last time I had the pleasure of visiting.
A seething, Bohemian metropolis compared to Banff.
Been to a pub in Banff .The locals were totally off their heads after a couple of drinks. Quick exit.
I was told not to go to a bank in the wall in Fraserburgh even during daylight.
Surely it's buckfast in coatbridge - not cider!
That'd require local knowledge and insight
Drinking Game: Take a shot every time North Lanarkshire is mentioned.
Cumbernauld isn't pretty in places, but it's not "scary". It's nothing like as bad as nearby places like Airdrie and Coatbridge. Glasgow is probably the "scariest" place to live in Scotland.
Glasgow's a big place. Which part do you find scary?
Carbrain is scary but I didn't find the rest of it that bad.
Is the presenter an actual person? Sorry but this seems so unnatural -more like an airport annoucement speaker. And is the content some kind of dead-pan humour because it's lost on me.
Penicuik should have been in this list there’s no shops and it looks like the aftermath of a nuclear war
You're handy for the Bush Campus of Edinburgh University though... where the vet school moved after leaving the Dick Institute.
Are these names connected? I wouldn't like to guess.
You should a picture of ibrox in Glasgow when talking about Falkirk?
Photo of Falkirk too scary to show on TH-cam .
The fashion sense in falkirk literally is out of this world.
Ibrox Stadium isn't in Falkirk.
I've lived on Cumbernauld all my life & there's many places worse off than my home town like Airdrie Coatbridge Motherwell that truly are shitholes.
And i wouldn't call Elgin a town anymore its more of a city some people dont think it is. But it is google said its not even a city but thats not true elgin is a city it wasn't back then but its turning into one
I'm from East kilbride but its not the worse place to be. Like most places alcohol can be attributed to a lot of problems but that's not unique.
Jesus, at least make an effort, sounded like you were using Wikipedia as a script.. bordered on the South East by some random river.. zzzzz. Voiceover sounded like it was going through the motions. For what it's worth, yeah, most of the top 10 is spot on, including the town where I grew up. Irvine and Glenrothes could have done with being on there to almost go for a full house of New Towns, would have looooved to hear you pronouncing Glenrothes.
Gotta love it when an Englishman is making blanket assumptions on locations he has clearly never been to before. If he had then he'd know what he's saying about every location mentioned is utter tripe and lacks the objectivity he has the brass neck to ask for. As a native of Falkirk myself this is utter keech!
Clydebank much much worse than Elgin
Definitely not the best 😕
Defo not the worst either. Agree it's a bit of a dump, but not as bad as nearby schemes and no worse than Dumbarton or Alexandria.
Falkirk is one of best places and Isn't ned capital your videos are respecting the people who live in those 10 towns
Why does this make me proud to be from cumbernauld
Really ? Inverness is a great place to live can’t believe it’s on this list !!
This list is bullshit falkirk does not deserve be on it aswell but dunfermline Does
How is low Blantyre not on the list
From an English man. What a joke.
It's a bot voice.
Even people who understand the Scottish accent have trouble understanding the accents from those places. There are also places in Wales such as Aberdare where they speak in such an undecipherable way you would think they were speaking a foreign language.
Have a look in your arse. You'll find your opinions there.
Would that be Welsh...which is not foreign! English is though!
@@angusmacpherson3252 They were trying to speak in English in the same way rap artists and characters on Eastenders do as they were chav girls but in an even less decipherable way as they didn't learn to communicate as children so could hardly pronounce words. It's the Valleys after all where Welsh was first banned and the revival of the language is even today not accepted there.
Really?!? Scotland sounds grim. Scotland for the Scottish is probably for the best
in Cumbernauld as long as you don't but into anyone business or snake on anyone you fine
Leven is the only place in the world where Channel withdrew its products from the shops. Google it.
Who are Channel? A Chinese imitation of Chanel?
Since when was ibrox in Falkirk 😂😂 thought it was the famous Glasgow rangers 🇬🇧
ok ibihuhuugiumun in higii b l
Musta moved ground 😂
Haha lol I live in one of the worst places in Scotland ballingry it's not as bad as it used to be just an extensions basically from an old mining village called lochore there are 4 areas which include four villages glencraig crosshil lochore and ballingy which come under benarty
Oh Ballingry! Is it still the Red Goth in the centre? I remeber the 10 foot wall round the school with glass on top. Never certain if it was to keep them in, or keep others out. It was a a little rough.
@@kellypaws 🤣🤣 haha nah it's no like that noo mate but aye the goth is still there mate right across from the miners institute that's actually lochore but I was trying to explain once your in glencraig it's basically ballingry but your right if you combine crosshil lochore and ballingry ( benarty) then red goth is right in the centre aye still going ma mates play gigs there sometimes don't know about the walls n that like
The worst town to live in Scotland: Scotland
Let's gooooo. 9th place, I'll take that, I would of put us 5th or 4th tho
Cumbernauld as number one is laughable. The Town Centre is awful, but it has lots of really nice areas. It is by far the best place in all of Lanarkshire ffs.
Having it below Paisley, Greenock, Larkhall etc is absolutely ridiculous.
Really? You're placing Cumbernauld above, say, Hamilton or Bothwell?
I agree, however, that Larkhall should have had a place on the list. So should Stevenston. And Bathgate is no treat.
Absolute bollocks.
Absolutely ignorant.
Wait a minute why is my tow on number 3 wow
Just weird 5 of them places are next to me
Worst places to live in the UK...1.England.
Airdrie should be listed as well.
You talk about Falkirk and put on a picture of Ibrox.
"Parish of Dal-yell"
It's written "Dalziel" and pronounced "Dee-yell".
Muppet
Fact dunfermline isn't on this list is a disgrace
Even tho I'm from the USA this guy is bashing towns for no reason but for what cost!
What? Have you been anywhere outside of Glasgow suburbs? Rubbish.
Methil is the pits even worse than Buckhaven.
EAST KILBRIDE is not one of the worst places to live. Some one need to get thr facts rite 😳
The whole of Scotland is getting run down, So sad. Even Glasgow, Edinburgh etc are deteriorating.
I was expecting to see Kilmarnock on this video.
6:08 😀😀 it’s pronounced Dee ell not dal yell
Seriously. Is that the only one you got? He trashed most of the pronunciations.
Should I waste my time commenting …yes I should …it should I say SHOD ! Due to all the mispronounced places ….This extremely misinformed person ,on many counts is only doing this for click bait
hasnt got a clue what he's talking about, he might want to go to scotland one day!
