Warren was my friend and I miss him dearly. We shared many personal moment including a shared appreciation for the novels of Tom McGuane.

What a concert! Just look at the audience on their feet loving every second of it and a sweaty Zevon responding with ALL his heart and talent!
The ability to simply ENJOY stuff has been beaten out of us, WZ's attitude reminds me of Rory Gallagher's,both centred totally on hittin the crowd hard'n fast,and BOY is that missing today ! R.I.P Warren and Rory...two all time greats !

@Lunar Passion I know John personally. John changed his last same professionally in the 90s to distinguish himself from the other "John Woods" out there. Most recent, he's credited as an engineer on Fiona Apple's "Fetch the Bolt Cutters" (his daughter Amy is the drummer and was also the drummer in Yortoise).

I was only 19 ( an Aus song by name actually) when first heard this song, and when it first came out, liked so much, and so very cool but challenging.

Zevon was a master. I love songs rich with irony and sarcasm behind comically simple refrains.
This is the genius who poured his soul and life into his music- all of it. I miss him sooo. He was the beginning of my life with my husband (another soap opera) that began with excitable boy on Valentine's Day 1978. Oh the memories. No apologies for talent, no apologies for mindless fun. He is not a bad man- quite the opposite. Heaven is rockin'.

The R&R Hall of Fame is a joke now. Warren isn't missing out on much.
Seriously, The Beastie Boys, Bun Jivi, not saying much about talent now. It's not real true talent that gets artists into the Hall of Fame anymore.
Nothing has that special touch that used to be palpable at shows and even hearing a great performance on the radio. I wish I could say what 'the special touch' is because I would go out and hunt it down.
Something very important and meaningful is gone now and I miss it more than words can say.

I met him briefly many years ago in Spain..he was on a sojourn..a cantina on the beach, north of barcelona...he was actually working on LG&M..shared a few beers and laughs...it was a young mans' world then...1977, I think...😅

Been a fan of the Man since the 80’s. I don’t think it’s just any coincidence that some of the funniest, most dangerous people I have ever met in my life are fans of Warren Zevon. Miss him.

Ill always remember zevon bc as i watched the vids n writings he made of his final yrs on earth i lost my best friend A.W.H. and one of the last musical conversations i has with him was regarding me asking him bout warren. He said that his father just began telling him how great zevon is a wk b4 i asked him. Ill always love n miss all indicated.

Do I ever wish Mr. Zevon was still with us. Wish I could have seen him performed but sadly I did not get into Warren until I was a lot older and he had already passed.

I was introduced in 1980/1981 not sure. A true gentleman that loved a good time,I last saw Warren perform at The Ratt in Boston,great show.
I always thought this song was funny, i always liked its tongue in cheek approach to a tragedy and sort of challenges peoples views. I dont think people really knew how to respond to it when it first came out, lol

....my kids bought me this album (for Xmas) the year it came out.....Gotta love my kidz...
The intro to this story is eerily similar to my experience of a Carpathian/Polish-American atheist paternal side and a small town WASP Episcopalian maternal side that my father deserted when I was but 5. The first Christmas after Dad left for his silver dollar queen, my presents nicely arranged under the tree were stomped to bits in anger by an "excitable" child. Many of us identified with similar torments as Warren amidst the same familiar/cultural landscape of the 60's and 70's. His music and stories are ours. God, we miss his art.
This stuff can't be done now. Too bad! Music is lost and it is tragic...Jeez people, write music that means something and makes us think!
