Love this for you! 💜 But I will be honest, of all the 3D zelda games this is definitely the worst one. And its not a bad game its just that all the others are better, less annoying and much less repetitive. I’d even argue its below most of the 2D games
@@trustmeimadentist I just finished Skyward Sword last night. Honestly... I like it a lot more than most people seem to. I can't exactly say it's my favorite cause I never did finish Wind Waker or Twilight Princess. That's right, in the 10+ years it took for SS to be accessible to me, I never beat Wind Waker or Twilight Princess. Skyward Sword HD held my attention long enough for me to finish it in a little over a week (80 hours to be exact). Can't say that about WW or TP, but I want to finish them now. This game got me in a Zelda mood so I got plenty to do while I wait for Metroid Dread.
the dungeons really are good, and I honestly didn’t mind the repetition of areas because you were still exploring a new part of the region or dungeon each time. and the silent realms were genuinely heart-racing! I don’t think I’ll repurchase but…. Yeah, it’s worth it
are you sure that wasnt stick controls? If it was "motion" controls, the slashes would be in every which way, not just repeatedly doing a single direction.
@@manuelarocho8131 I was gonna say the same thing. OG Skyward Sword had extremely high levels of responsiveness. Anyone who complained about it probably was swinging wildly like on the Wii Twilight Princess and blamed the motion controls because that was an easy out and the fashionable thing to do.
The Switch has literally received one Zelda game a year, in some way: 2017: Breath of the Wild 2018: Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition 2019: Link's Awakening remake 2020: Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity 2021: Skyward Sword HD 2022: Breath of the Wild 2 (hopefully) I think Zelda on the Switch is good. EDIT: Oh, dear! I forgot "Cadence of Hyrule" in 2019 too... So, yeah, even more than I originally said!
@@XanderVJ More is always better, so why not. And that's 3 mainline Zelda games after Skyward Sword HD, so if you're counting spinoffs you could throw Cadence of Hyrule in there too

I had never played Link's Awakening when I bought for full price the Switch version; and I was def satisfied with my experience. I imagine the same wouls be true for me, for Skyward Sword, as I've never played this Zelda title either.
@@deadstar962 I do plan to someday but as it stands right now , I can't afford it. I would really love to play it. Normally , I'm not qualified to tell you if you should pick up a game if I haven't played it , but since it's Zelda , you know it's good. I say go for it!
This is why I didn’t complain about this game. Wait until it actually releases and then see if the changes are good or not. Happy to see one of my favourite Zelda games get the improvements it needs. I’m not even mad about the games price. If I pick it up I’ll still get an entire Zelda campaign to enjoy.
I never played Skyward Sword, because I didn't own a Wii at the time. Also the Wiimote was pretty funky. Seeing this entry return, I will definitely be obtaining my copy on Friday
I actually enjoyed Skyward Sword because of its extreme linear story. I know it has some issues but the lack of a progressive story in BOtW was my biggest problem, although it was great in its own way.
EXACTLY. I liked BOTW, and although I loved the open world aspect, Skyward Sword wasn’t all backstory told through flashbacks. Skyward Sword probably had some of the best characterization and story elements in the series. Opinion wise is it the best? No, I have my personal favorites (Wind Waker, Minish Cap, and literally ALTTP-The Oracle games as The Hero of Legend is my favorite Link and has a LONG history), but is it fundamentally the best in terms of story due to how linear and smooth it is? Absolutely. Now, I’m excited for BOTW 2 as HOPEFULLY they might give us a real story without all of that fluff and actual dungeons, but ultimately for now I’d say Skyward Sword has the fundamentals of being one of the best probably.
@@ChrisBelmont Yes. I hope link gets some charakter progression in Botw2. I think we will see some dungeons in the sequel, too. I am playing Skyward Sword HD rn and as I remembered, character, Story telling and atmosphere are perfect.
I agree. there are no traditional dungeons. I constantly feel overwhelmed , Like I dont know where to go or what to do. I really dont feel like BOTW is a good zelda game . And i have played them all. was 10 when i played original Zelda on NEW. never played SKyward sword though. Is it better than BOTW at least? and is it more like a real zelda game? in your opinion?
Hold on a second... did they remove (or significantly tone down) the painting brush filter on distant objects? I really liked that about the original game. It was one of the more distinctive things about the original's visual style - making it look like a watercolor painting.
I think they did, look at 9:51. Such a shame, the whole thing was wonderfully impressionistic. Maybe they just couldn't get it to look good at a higher resolution idk
@@mrZanZibar777 quite the opposite actually. It was done because of the Wiis poor hardware. It was a trick to make distant areas look nice instead of a blurry mess. They don't need to worry about that now hence why it's no longer a thing. Not saying it's a good thing it's gone of course. But that's the reason it was there in the first place
@@BlaizeTheDragon Yeah I know why they did it in the first place, but IMO it had artistic value outside its utility of covering up the flaws of its hardware
They didn't remove it, and in fact the effect is still virtually the same. It's just that as the resolution doubled, the areas the filter applies to (about 10x10 pixels off the top of my head) are much smaller relative to the screen so it isn't as noticeable. If you zoom in it's very obvious that it's still there. I personally don't think it would've looked as nice with the higher resolution if they'd kept it at the same relative scale, so I think it was the right choice to tone it down a bit.
I’d grab it if it were cheaper than $60 USD. Not really a huge Zelda guy so at least it’s good to hear that those who pick it up will probably enjoy it
wow, 10 years. i bought this in my late 20s and played it about two thirds through before embarking to work abroad for one year. then when i came back i somehow didn't feel like starting from scratch but wasn't eager to pick it up from where I left it either, plus a new 9 to 5 was sucking all the life force out of me. Anyway, now 10 years later I'm kind of really looking forward to picking it up again. Can't wait till it's on my Switch.
Eldin Volcano(SotH arc) was the best change up imo.... so many times i messed up a bit because I so wanted to beat up those stupid patrol bokoblins(especially when i reacquired my sword)
It’s a Zelda mainline game so I feel it automatically gets a good score. The graphics do not look HD. Graphics look sooo dated and like a 10 year old game or a budget title. No way am I paying the full asking price for this. Could u imagine if this ugly game released at full price on PS5 or even PS4 it would be a laughing stock or just totally ignored. If this wasn’t a Zelda game no one would buy it
They are most definitely shaped by the thoughts of TH-camrs that are no more insightful or different than any of us and barely know their own ass from a hole in the ground, its infuriating how people have this herd mentality and can't shape their own ideas so TH-cam videos do it for them
As a nearly pathetic Nintendo and Zelda freak, I shut this game off in disgust, tried to enjoy it three times over the years, never managed to even barely like it. And I don’t know who egoraptor is. The hate for this game is not random.
@@Nicdehouwer it's not everyones cup of tea I get that. I kinda prefer it in some aspects over breath of the wild. It has some of the best dungeons in the entire series. My point was herd mentality.
God, this game is so divisive. Pretty much if you get the controls It’s great. If you don’t you’re not going to have as good of an experience. Reviewers are still struggling with it.
How much do you want to bet if the Amiibo feature was actually put into the game straight up, all the reviews would have been complaining that that one specific feature destroyed the entire level structure and made the game stupid easy as it became almost impossible to die.
@@Allen-qs2xr I'm not defending the Amiibi, I do think it should have been something different if it was going to be made at all. I'm just saying that people are acting like it's a game changing QOL improvement that would have made the game better, but SS level design was built around using the stones as checkpoint systems. It was also kept relatively easy because it was a late era Wii game, when Nintendo was at full holding hands mode. Basically, this feature was a bad idea no matter how it was implemented and should never have been a thing, the pay wall aspect just makes it that much worse. Nintendo is basically locking an ultimate cheat code behind a pay wall, as oppose to a QOL improvement.
@@scarffoxandfriends9401 three words Optional. Experience. Share. With something as simple as options existing, a feature that cannot justify the extra cost in dev time being locked behind a paywall is definitely a money grabbing move. That's where the issue is.
@@Allen-qs2xr It's not as simple as "It's optional". There's many examples of optional mechanics destroying players perception of a game, as it gives the player the mentality that they are playing a game wrong if they aren't using all the features. Saving your game is optional in MM 3d and yet people who complain about it ruining the balance still used it. The only way they could have made it work is if was only accessible in a low difficulty setting. Again, I'm not saying the putting it behind the Amiibo isn't scummy, just that it also shouldn't be just added to the game straight up either.
I think the updates will really help me get into this game. I remember trying to play it on the Wii and got so frustrated with the motion controls, so it made me hate the legend of Zelda all together, but I think the fixing of the motion controls will genuinely help me enjoy this game.
The amiibo isn't really a big deal. The game is still great without fast travel. If they never announced the amiibo, no one would be complaining about fast travel. Just sayin.
Yeah it's not a big deal like people are making it out to be. It's basically a cheat code to make the game easier. So in my opinion it's dumb and pointless and the game is already easy as is so why would i want to make it even more easier doesn't make sense
I hope not, because from what I understand the amiibo is sold out most places and scalpers on ebay are selling them for outrageous prices..I didn't play the Wii version,so like Link's Awakening this will be a new experience for me..I do like the looks of the amiibo,it's pretty but if it's not going to be a big deal if I don't have it then I'm not going to worry about it
@@sunshinemishasmommy5352 As someone who enjoyed the original but understood many of the complaints that people had with it over the years... absolutely NO ONE had ever complained about the need to return to the sky from any point on the surface. There are no shortage of statues you can travel from, so you’re never far from one anyway. It’s a neat addition that’s a smidge annoying to be locked behind an amiibo, but it absolutely is not a feature people were clamoring for and will not make or break anyone’s experience.
@@MHSchonberg the statues to get back to the sky were always placed where they needed to be. Start of the area and just before a dungeon. As you progress you unlock shortcuts that make getting around much faster and convenient which applies to getting to the statues as well. So yeah it's people making mountains out of molehills. While I'll admit it's a weird thing to have locked behind an amiibo I can't see myself saying "gee I wish I didn't have to pay that £20 for a figurine to get to the sky quicker. Now I'll have to walk 20 seconds to my left for the statue like a scrub"
I never got to play Skyward Sword until this remaster so, I went all out with this release. I bought the Physical Game, the special edition Joy-con and the amiibo, I’m sitting down to play it right now and I am very excited. I played the original Zelda on the NES when it was released (I feel very old) and I remember all the excitement I got from exploring it’s mysterious world, it was definitely groundbreaking at the time, and I was enthralled. Suffice it to say I currently have that giddy sense of unadulterated joy that I had as a tyke exploring Hyrule for the first time.
@@finnneilson6229 So…. Ultimately I liked it. Is it a masterpiece like some of the other games in the series? No, but the puzzles, dungeons, music and story were top notch. Unfortunately the controls (coming from the Wii U to switch) took a little getting used to, and I didn’t really care for the overall linear design, also I felt like the exploration I’d grown accustomed to in most of the other games was dialed back heavily.
I'm excited for this game because I never played it before, but I think I'm gonna wait til maybe christmas because I recently bought Link's Awakening so I'm gonna play that game before.
I've honestly never had any problem with the game in the past, but this has made me even more excited for it than I already was. I love Skyward Sword, that's all there is to it.
Played & completed this game, 100%, back on the Wii & repeated it again with the WiiU. Had little to no issues with the motion controls then. The Amiibo fast travel isn't needed. There were plenty of Bird Statues in the original to get you to & from the Sky. It's only a luxury to be able to transport whenever you want rather than at fixed locations. Looking forward to playing this remaster!!!
I can’t wait for this game tomorrow I played it back when it first came out and couldn’t put it down. Honestly the whole amiibo fast travel thing honestly isn’t a problem at all the games perfectly fine without it. I also never had problems with motion controls either I just think people love to bash the game for that reason just because everyone else says it.
@@chuganoga1908 it's definitely a great Zelda game. The dungeons were created so we'll & there are plenty of side/fetch quests to keep you busy for a good while. Also has a spectacular storyline all the way through.
this seems to be the most generous review when it comes to the controls. most others seem to not think too highly of the button controls , also with the motion you have to rezero it frequently
@@skipper2016 but then they optimised it for the Switch. If they made the gamepad the Sheika Slate, then I'd give it to the Wii U, but they removed that feature. Now BoTW is inherently a Switch game
I'm thorn because I never buy games that I already own, but my Wii copy got "lost" when I lent it to a friend. I want to replay it, but I'm not eager to spend $60 bucks on a game I already owned.
I also had it on Wii. A few years back I gave my Wii along with all games to my nephew. However he hasn't played the Wii since he got it. After giving my Wii away the only game I really cared about was skyward sword. My bro never got to finish the game and my sis never played it in general. So I decided I'd buy the game again for them, also I haven't played in 10 years so probably can't remember much of it, so I could enjoy another play through. I was going wait till it went down price as I think it's current price is a bit much, but I seen that buy pre ordering I could get some extra stuff, so that plus the other stuff I talked about above convinced me to get it. Otherwise I would have probably waited for price drop or simply never get it.
I got skyward sword at launch but couldn't stand how finicky the motion controls were (as I was like. 10. Oh wow. Okay) so I dropped it up until sometime early last year, where I played through and enjoyed the whole thing way more than I thought I would !!! But ever since the switch was released I was hoping they'd remaster this game with updated motion and optional button controls. I'm glad more people will be able to experience the creativity of this game now :]
Nah. I played through it twice, the first time I'd just moved into my first place, had no electronics side from TV and Wii and the game worked perfectly. The second time I had WiFi and all the standard electricals and I really struggled getting the controls to work. The slightest electromagnetic field really messed with the controls.
I wonder if there’s an option to change what the right stick does by default. Like instead of only moving the camera when L is held down. It would instead move the camera by default and do the sword slashes when L is held. I think that would feel more natural.
Is it me or would it make more sense to keep the right stick be free look and have it activate sword controls when you pull down the trigger instead of the opposite? As for the Amiibo requirement. I am sure once it gets released on Friday the code will find its way to the places it needs to be for those of us who know how to make our own.
they were. i noticed some people didn't realize the game actually used the sensor bar to recalibrate at times, specially when using the sword, so this led to a whole lot more drift and calibration issues. either that or people just waggled their way through the game instead of noticing how precise it actually is which leads to drift OR had a bunch of bluetooth interference.
Because majority of the player base experienced the wii controllers not working perfectly. I personally had to recalibrate my controller pretty much constantly so it annoyed the hell out of me. The main complaints from the original: - holding the wii remote up didn't always make like start charging the sword - swinging horizontally make Link swing diagonally or vertically sometimes - the bird doesn't fly straight because the calibration is slightly off.
@@floppytokey I don't get why the "motion controls worked perfectly" crowd always feels the need to imply the people who had problems simply weren't using them correctly or whatever. It creates division and accomplishes nothing. Maybe the fact so many people had issues with the motion controls is itself a problem with the controls and we shouldn't be downplaying the issues other people may have had with them. Also the explanations about why people had issues are always nonsense, no offense. The game itself tells you to use the sword a ton to recalibrate, just the fact that you feel the need to do something to REcalibrate tells me you also felt it wasn't 1:1 sometimes, so why are you acting like it never had issues?? It's a weird condescending tone I never got. When the game came out I had people in gaming forums get ANGRY at me for complaining and telling me I actually was having no issues at all with the game and was just dumb.
I didn't finish this as a kid because I wasn't good at combat in game but loved watching my stepdad play it. I don't remember much of the story now so since my husband didn't play this entree in the series I'm looking forward to picking this up tomorrow. Gonna spend the weekend playing. The soundtrack was so beautiful 🎉
I feel that the instant travel of the amiibo could be considered more of a cheat because you can get out of anywhere, dungeons included, at any time. I am ok with it being locked behind the amiibo. There is also plenty of bird statues on the surface and always one right next to the entrance of the dungeons. In the original, I never felt they were too far apart.
You are still able to travel to the sky and surface as normal from the Wii version. The amibo just adds the ability to freely travel between the surface and sky whenever and wherever. And you return back to where you came from no matter how long you were away. I got the amibo and personally I won’t use it for this purpose because I’m here for the nostalgia... Without the Phi Handholding lol.
Your reviews are always very trustworthy and accurate I find. Gonna take your word on this one! My pre order is arriving tomorrow so I can't wait to dive in
Why did they not just do a collection but put as much effort as they did into this game into the whole project, it’s still just such a hard buy for me at full price.
I’m also looking forward to breath of the wild 2 ! I wonder, if they will improve and update twilight princess for switch? Overall I would like Nintendo to remake ocarina of time, to the same level as breath of the wild. Etc.
Let's remember, that it was the criticism of this game that got us the open world in Breath of the Wild. So, be gentle with it. Skyward Sword is one of my favorites, and I'm super excited to play it again!
Reminder, the game is fairly linear and it's never too hard to find a bird statue that allows you to quick travel, and you'll rarely need to escape a dungeon for supplies, so the amiibo functionality isn't necessary to begin with. People just like to stay mad.
I'm excited to play this game again. I played through it once when it launched (40-50 hours playtime) and enjoyed every minute of it, but for whatever reason I have never played it since. I'll definitely be using the motion controls because I thought that they worked great in the original (note that I had a wii remote plus and not a wii motion plus add on).
This was my first ever Zelda game and I was so excited when this was announced. I'm glad it doesn't appear to be "limited edition" like Mario 3D All Stats, BUT I absolutely resent its AAA retail price, PLUS the fact that a useful QOL feature is locked behind a £25 statuette. I'm not gonna pretend this version is completely unimproved, because the improvements here are great, plus the ability to play portably adds value in itself, but so many previous IPs have had remasters, and even remakes that have offered alot more at a much more reasonable price.
I am just happy that such games still exist! I grew up with a PS2, and I love my PS2 games. Then the PS3 came along and I was MAJORLY disappointed. There aren't even 2 games I genuely like on the PS3. The PS4 was the same until it gradually got its library improved in 2016~2018. The PS4 is now a console dear to me, just like the PS2. I bought a Switch in Japan in 2019 and I am in love with it. Why? Because its games feel like PS2-games, and I mean that in the best way possible. No DLC, no empty open worlds. Just nicely crafted little gems. PS2, PS4, and the Switch are my faves.
While this does seem like a substansial improvement, I don't think it's worth $60. Also, this is one of my least favorite Zelda games, so it's not like I have a strong connection with it or anything. I might get it used for $40 on ebay or something
@@juantsu2000 Nintendo is probably charging $60 because they know there are plenty of people who own switches that never played the game before and would be willing to pay full price, even for a remake
I loved it at release but haven't played it in years as I don't have a wii anymore. So I'm excited to play through it again, I remember it had a lot of great puzzles and dungeons.
Thank you for saying this. Imo games from the Gamecube era onwards, if they’re updated enough or part of a collection I’d totally be fine paying the standard $60. Those games are packed with content
Mmm... I think most people would agree that $60 for a 10-year-old game is a bit outlandish, particularly when that exceeds the original launch price. Sure, everyone can have their own opinion, but I'd wager that some opinions are more well-informed than others, and as a general principle, I really dislike the amount that Nintendo charges for their ports and find it pretty unreasonable
This makes me so happy. I've adored Skyward Sword ever since 2011, but admittedly the original version had some very obvious flaws. Those flaws never bothered me too much on my playthrough, but unfortunately they prevented others from enjoying the game. Ten years later, Nintendo releases a beautiful remaster that fixes all of Skyward Sword's issues. Old and new fans alike are finally going to realize how phenomenal this game is
Not all of the game's issues have been fixed though; there still isn't a left-handed mode for the motion controls. And don't respond by bringing up the button controls; I want to be able to use the motion controls, and for that to actually be precise and fun, I want to be able to use those motion controls with my dominant hand. And yet, both for the original Wii version and now for this Switch re-release, Nintendo has told me that they couldn't care less about the left-handed, despite Shigeru Miyamoto himself being a lefty.
I think I may be the only person who enjoyed the Imprisonmed battles (yep, all of them). Though I wish the visual design had been made more threatening, I think it's a really sound boss mechanically and I enjoyed the escalating factors to consider with each battle. Nobody would have thought much of it if it was just one boss battle with three phases. But separate those phases out and people get mad!
Can’t wait to play! Just picked it up on the switch. I never played on the Wii U, maybe I’ll do a review from the first time skyward sword without playing the original perspective.
I’m excited. Like stupid excited. Never had this on Wii. Tried a little on a friend’s borrowed old Wii and just couldn’t get into it because I knew she’d want the wii back before I could finish it. I also just kept thinking “it would be so much better for me if it was in HD.”
If they addes the amibo ability to the game i think it would have detracted from the experiance, this is the sort of thing amibo has always and should be used for.
Honestly I never had too much trouble trying to go back and forth between the sky and the surface. I usually grab everything I need from the bizarre before I fly to the area I want to drop down to and then I usually just stick with what I got.
I still never had issues with the motion controls on Wii. I do note that the motion plus accessory was total garbage and never worked for more than 5 minutes without losing sync but the built in motion was flawless. Even played through the game at least 5 times in a car without losing sync other than when I calibrated going around a turn.
I'm really excited to play this game..I didn't get to play it on the Wii,and from what I've heard that was probably a good thing because the controls sounded horrid..of course I didn't like the Wii motion controls anyway,it made me frustrated with alot of games that might have been good..so this will be my first time playing Skyward Sword and it sounds like I'll get to experience the game the way it was supposed to be 😊😁👍
Some reviews saying the motion controls feel even worse than the wii version because of the constant need to manually recalibrate. Did you guys feel this constant need as well?
I could see that being a problem, but I imagine a lot of people would be used to it now if they’ve played Super Mario Galaxy, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, or 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, since they all had on-screen pointers with a similar issue.
In the Wii version you still had to constantly re-center the gyro by pressing down on the D-pad. I think people are misremembering how little the sensor bar did in the original version.
@@jonathand.4088 Played the game on Wii U with a sensor bar (Ofcourse) about a month ago. Can count on one hand the amount of times I needed to re-center.

I love BOTW and it’s game design is extremely close to perfect, but I think the key design features of Skyward Sword and past 3D Zelda games are my absolute favorite. I’m hoping BOTW 2 brings back what makes Zelda so special and satisfying.
Finally the version of this game that should've released back in the Wii days... having said that, I think you are a bit too generous with the score... I think an 8/10 would be sufficient
Exactly! And that's the reason why this art style is done this way: it's so you can see how your opponent is holding their weapons and be able to know where to swing to properly get into their weak point. In fact the Stalfos for example the are able to hold three swords where you can only hit them from one angle and you got to do it quickly before they move to a new position. It can be frustrating for some but for me this is what help makes the game unique compared to all the other Zelda game except for maybe Zelda 2 the Adventure of Link where you do have to choose whether to aim your sword high or low
@@angelhernandezvega6064 No problem with that! My only issue is when they play like that and then say that the motion controls don't work correctly. Which a lot of people definitely did on the Wii release. I think when people see in reviews the sword being flailed around there's a feeling of this is just waggle from Twilight Princess back again
@@corruptiblegaming2138 have to remember in Twilight Princess they made it through that shaking the remote in any direction will swing the sword as if you just press the b button but in this game it's all about how you swing The Sword in certain directions because if you don't swing it correctly you're not going to be able to hit your target. The reason why it uses the motion Plus back in the day, to give it a nice one to one between how the player moves the remote in their hand and the sword in the characters hand
I actually quite enjoyed fighting The Imprisoned after beating it the first time. You just have to treat it like Thanos and go straight for the head rather than bothering with the toes and you can beat it without taking any damage.
Still can't get into the art style (and some enemy design) for this one... that as much as the motion controls kept me from finishing back in the day, but gonna give it a shot once again.
Watching this I learned the imprisoned has toes to attack? I always just jumped on his back from a higher level or used the center air hole. Also the tentacles can be cut with a Skyward strike? I thought you had to use a full power arrow shot. My main gripe is the camera control should always be active and you use the left bumper to enable sword attacks.
5:16 Actually, it is confirmed to be pronounced "Fye" not "Fee." Her Japanese name is also the same ファイ (Fai) in pronunciation. I know, I made the same mistake originally.

I've got no doubts that we'll see the other 3D Zelda's on Switch at some point, I'm happy we finally got a new version of this one
The Switch has literally received one Zelda game a year, in some way:
2017: Breath of the Wild
2018: Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition
2019: Link's Awakening remake
2020: Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
2021: Skyward Sword HD
2022: Breath of the Wild 2 (hopefully)
I think Zelda on the Switch is good.
EDIT: Oh, dear! I forgot "Cadence of Hyrule" in 2019 too... So, yeah, even more than I originally said!

It's definitely my top 3 Zelda games. Hopefully you enjoy the game with motion controls
did you like it?
@@mrZanZibar777 if they left that in, I’m sure they would’ve gotten even more criticism from people who haven’t played the game

I never had problems with the controls and I still think it is the worst zelda game ever
How much do you want to bet if the Amiibo feature was actually put into the game straight up, all the reviews would have been complaining that that one specific feature destroyed the entire level structure and made the game stupid easy as it became almost impossible to die.
Imagine defending a scummy corporate decision. Jesus you fanboys are insane.
@@scarffoxandfriends9401 three words
Optional. Experience.
Same, we can play Zelda properly finally
I’m real excited to play this. It amazes me how much of a botw prequel this feels like. I don’t know why I missed it the first time around.
Its an absolute must for speedrunners aside from that you'll still have as much fast travel as the original.
So what was it like?
@@finnneilson6229 So…. Ultimately I liked it. Is it a masterpiece like some of the other games in the series? No, but the puzzles, dungeons, music and story were top notch.
No idea what you're talking about regarding wii controls. Slashes were always perfect and on point for me
they were. i noticed some people didn't realize the game actually used the sensor bar to recalibrate at times, specially when using the sword, so this led to a whole lot more drift and calibration issues. either that or people just waggled their way through the game instead of noticing how precise it actually is which leads to drift OR had a bunch of bluetooth interference.
Because majority of the player base experienced the wii controllers not working perfectly. I personally had to recalibrate my controller pretty much constantly so it annoyed the hell out of me.
The main complaints from the original:
- holding the wii remote up didn't always make like start charging the sword
- swinging horizontally make Link swing diagonally or vertically sometimes
- the bird doesn't fly straight because the calibration is slightly off.
I hardly ever had any issues with the motion controls, probably why I really liked the game.
What happened to cheatcodes?
i preordered this all the way back in march, cant wait to finally get it and play it in very smooth 60fps and HD graphics
I'm happy to hear about all the substantial changes. Has anything been done in regard to difficulty / accessibility options?
You are still able to travel to the sky and surface as normal from the Wii version. The amibo just adds the ability to freely travel between the surface and sky whenever and wherever. And you return back to where you came from no matter how long you were away. I got the amibo and personally I won’t use it for this purpose because I’m here for the nostalgia... Without the Phi Handholding lol.
I see they didnt fix the design of the Monters Inc boss lady, that was my only complaint to the original game
It really is atrocious. My first thought when I saw it back in the day was that Mike and Celia's kid went rogue.
Because Nintendo is greedy, this should've been Skyward Sword, Wind Waker and TP. Not charging fans $60 for the same Wii graphics.
It's nice to see one of my favorite Zelda games get the chance it deserves.
Reminder: you can buy blank NFC tags and use one to spoof an official amiibo
Reminder, the game is fairly linear and it's never too hard to find a bird statue that allows you to quick travel, and you'll rarely need to escape a dungeon for supplies, so the amiibo functionality isn't necessary to begin with. People just like to stay mad.

The main musical score is awesome
Thats a fair decision for pretty much ANY remaster.
@PickledKong64 I would pay 25 at most. This doesn't seem worth it at all
@@juantsu2000 Nintendo is probably charging $60 because they know there are plenty of people who own switches that never played the game before and would be willing to pay full price, even for a remake
@@prestoncole1862 this isn't even a remake, this is a lazy remastered
Buy it for $50 at walmart
I never played SS during the Wii era, but im excited to play this game on Switch soon.
Where's Jon and Zion?! They're the Zelda experts!
I loved it at release but haven't played it in years as I don't have a wii anymore. So I'm excited to play through it again, I remember it had a lot of great puzzles and dungeons.
If everyone that makes a comment stating ‘it’s not worth $x, but more like $y’ please remember to add ‘in my opinion because worth is subjective’
My fav Zelda game at the time, so many amazing moments ! I was glad to watch it again 🤩🤩🤩 thanks for the video !
If you've never played or owned Skyward Sword, it's worth it in my opinion. Otherwise, get it used for a cheaper price
In a few years? People don’t sell used Nintendo switch games for that cheap sadly
Well games at Walmart are $50 so I’ll probably get it there in a few weeks!
Luckily you can spoof amiibos with power tags so it really isnt a pay wall if you have those. Really glad I bought those.
Still looks better than sword and shield or legends..
Im so happy for the people playing this for the first time
Cannot wait for Friday. First time playing and, from the sounds of things, it sounds like this is the best way to experience the game!
The game is awesome!
First time for me too bro. Gonna go with motion controls to get the full experience
@@timothyjonesjr10 I’m thinking I’ll start with them too. Really curious to see how the joycons manage the game.
I'm really excited to play this game..I didn't get to play it on the Wii,and from what I've heard that was probably a good thing because the controls sounded horrid..of course I didn't like the Wii motion controls anyway,it made me frustrated with alot of games that might have been good..so this will be my first time playing Skyward Sword and it sounds like I'll get to experience the game the way it was supposed to be 😊😁👍
Getting mine on sunday....CANT COME SOON ENOUGH
why didn't you just pre order it for friday?
Mine arrived today, can't wait to get home and play it.
I'm happy to hear the controls are better, that was my main concern.
Some reviews saying the motion controls feel even worse than the wii version because of the constant need to manually recalibrate. Did you guys feel this constant need as well?
That makes sense, the Switch doesn't have a sensor bar.
@@jonathand.4088 played on the wii in december, i had to recenter only 3 or 4 times the entire game. From the reviews i was talking about some people are needing to recenter virtually every time they use an item that needs to be aimed, that’s wayyyyy more than the experience we had on wii.
I love BOTW and it’s game design is extremely close to perfect, but I think the key design features of Skyward Sword and past 3D Zelda games are my absolute favorite. I’m hoping BOTW 2 brings back what makes Zelda so special and satisfying.
This didn’t age well
Finally the version of this game that should've released back in the Wii days... having said that, I think you are a bit too generous with the score... I think an 8/10 would be sufficient
You’ve played it?
I would rather hold L to activate sword swing rather than the free camera. Wish that could be an option
I swear everyone's gameplay is always flailing the sword around. You're supposed to use deliberate swings!
Let people enjoy themselves
@@angelhernandezvega6064 No problem with that! My only issue is when they play like that and then say that the motion controls don't work correctly. Which a lot of people definitely did on the Wii release. I think when people see in reviews the sword being flailed around there's a feeling of this is just waggle from Twilight Princess back again
@@corruptiblegaming2138 ah, that makes sense
I much prefer how lizalfos look in this game compared to the ones in breath of the wild.
Probably one oft favorite Zelda games for the music and story alone!! So hyped to play again❤️
can't wait! i haven't played it on wii, so im really excited to play through, especially for the story and lore!
This was the first fully orchestrated Zelda. That’s amazing! I’ll finally beat this Game this time around.
You know.. I’m actually excited to try it!!
The motion controls seem fun to screw around with and visually I quite like it.
Though Wind Waker is another one I’ve never been able to try.. hope we get that as well one day.
Was on the wii u and it was great. I'd buy a port anyway.
The timing of the nintendolife logo sound at the end = perfect
