Listening to this again.. Just stumbled onto this piece this morning...This is an amazing interpretation! Now I will listen again without the score!...Wow!...Got to learn this!
@@espressonoob A common complaint is that pianos nowadays lack the brightness and have way too heavy bass sounds to play Bach properly. While I maintain of the opinion that modern pianos are perfectly fine for Bach and should not be compared to the harpsichord as it's 2 different instruments, I also think it's impossible to even "assume" what Bach would think of modern pianos. Yet, there were newly invented pianos that he wasn't a fan of (as noted in several articles and biographies), yet you cannot even compare those to what we have now like you mentioned. Similar to speculating how good a pianist Liszt was compared to our current top pianists, it is fun to do yet not realistic.
@@jordidewaard2937 agreed, people get WAY to into hypothetical and let it get the better of their judgement for music. just enjoy sit back and enjoy, but some people don't like that mindset I guess.
*hrmm* JSB sits down, a quill in his hand. "Hmm, what melodies have never been heard before? I'll try and give the world a handful more." I don't know that this toccata is one of his more famous ones, but it speaks deeply into me, on the same level as bwv 147, 988 or the passacaglia, whatever number that happens to have. On a side note, I adore this version.
Bravissimo for this most beautiful, sensitive, exquisite and expressive performance! The varied types of finger-touch and the little, if any, use of the modern piano-pedal allowed for the tonal clarity/transparency so important in understanding Bach's musical texts. You have revived Glenn Gould's spirit without falling into cheap imitation - on the contrary: you did your own wonderful individual interpretation of this Toccata. Tell me, Corrado Pozzoli: did you play also the clavichord (as seen at 4:09)? Thanks Marco Alpi for uploading. I'm sharing.
@Ma Pa "The fugue must be played as molto vivace, mosso, energico brillante, poco stringendo con brio." Must it now? Strange, I don't see those directions at all in the sheet music.

Meravigliosa interpretazione bravo!!!!!!
Wow. In questa interpretazione ho sentito delle voci intermedie che di solito vengono coperte dalle note piu alte. Bellissimo.
0:00 I - Presto
0:33 II - Allegro
2:59 III - Adagio
8:44 IV - Presto
I can't believe Bach would have objected to hearing his music on the modern piano when played so beautifully. Bravo!
@Hesus believe me, he did.
@Hesus he said there wasnt enough action on the piano (in other words, too hard to play) but hey thats speaking in terms of much older pianos so.
Let me respond to your comment : speaking in terms of the first pianos, it's a dumb statement to compare 1750s to now.

"JSB sits down"
@@brianbernstein3826 Well, he obviously had to sit down at times to play those magnificient church organs :-)
It was my favorite as a kid. I played it in concert many times.
What a thoroughly enjoyable interpretation!! Thank you Sir.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!! D MAYORRRR AHHHHHH
NON (fr) , NO (it) RÉ MAJEUR ... 😅😅
I can’t see your feet. Can you comment about the pedal, if you used any at all?
i think he plays it a bit too fast, not taking away anything else
I think his tempo is OK.
