Serral is the opposite to Dark, so humble, 0 tryhard, nothing to prove, not even a great reason to play zerg lol, just a natural talent. Even when he won blizzcon he was like only thanking others for the support.
People who wont' count Serral unless he wins GSL are missing a huge point. It is't a weekend tournament that Serral is avoiding. GSL is a multi-week process. You have to play in person, in Korea. This means you need to basically live in Korea for weeks. Meanwhile, you are competing against people living in their own home, enjoying their native language, eating their normal diet, and commuting stress free. A foreigner has to overcome all of those hurdles AND play excellent SC2. No Korean has even surmounted that amount of barriers for a title either.
I've always found it kind of bad that if you're not from Korea, when it comes to Starcraft, you're considered a "foreigner." I think the game has become big enough globally, with the likes of Serral being in the goat conversation without ever competing in Korea in Code S, that the community can leave this behind. It's for the better culturally speaking.
I would definitely argue against saying Maru doesn't show up in the biggest events. I think you have to look at tournament structure and which races excel in which formats. Maru dominates GSL unlike anyone before him and I think GSL has the most consistently difficult tournament fields besides the ESL masters tournaments and maybe Global Finals. GSL is the most strategic format in SC2 as you have the most time between groups to prepare for your specific potential opponents, you have to consider when to show specific builds and when to keep some secret depending on who you might potentially play down the road. Maru runs deep almost all the time in global finals as well and typically anyone in the top 8 of that tournament can win the tournament. I think zerg, typically being a defend and react race lends itself to doing extremely well in formats that don't have time to prepare for specific opponents like the international majors. ByuN and Mvp are the only Terran blizzcon champions ever and Oliveira is only the 3rd terran world champion ever.
Compare that to Rogue who has won blizzcon and IEM Katowice, Dark has won blizzcon, Serral has multiple world championships, Reynor made 3 global final grand finals and won a world title. Life has a world title, Jaedong even made a blizzcon grand final I believe in SC2. Those formats seem to favor zerg historically.
The only Man who ended the reign of a country, the single most dominant region, they had a chokehold of the game, basically since forever, Koreans dominated the scene, basically considered HEROES by their fellow countrymen, basically the GREATEST DYNASTY in all of Esports history.... Ended by this Man..... That is self.... Is GOAT THINGSZZ. I don't know what you on about.... But that is just GOAT THINGSSSZ. 🔥🔥🔥
I don't really think starcraft players will get 'carried away' with wealth. They really don't earn a lot. Serral is probably the outlier in that he won quite a lot but even with all his winnings he isn't exactly set for life he will still have to get a job after starcraft dies. Keeping in mind he would have been spending money on living, he probably isn't a millionaire.
Just having your own place without having to worry about rent and mortgage makes a huuuuuuge difference. With 1.2m you can get your own place and get another one or two for renting out. With right location and a bit of luck with prices you kinda are set for life. Unless you're after luxurious life. And by the "I never saw the need to prove myself" would guess he doesn't need all the status symbols.
@@iclicklike3397 It'd be much better to invest in broad based index funds. 1m would be enough to spend 40k every year and never have the principle decrease. And that's 40k a year in pure expenses, which is a ton for someone without dependents

No building units to a 175 unit supply any more:)
All make sence for you 😂🤣
I would definitely argue against saying Maru doesn't show up in the biggest events.
Your voice reminds me of InControl… RIP
Fun fact, Serral is attacking your natural.
The happiest I remember seeing Harstem recently is when he took a game off of Serral.
That is no small feat either. I remember when he took a map off Maru as well. The Captain can definitely hold his own.
Why doesn't Serral compete in GSL?
3 minutes later Serral: The first player I looked up to was SAvior 💀💀💀💀💀
Ну тарантино всех хлопнул... Тоесть они все мертвы я в ускоренном марше запоминал твои игры... Ну мы типо поздоровались все норм...
He's probably balling. Sponsorships for someone like him would definitely be 6 figures a year, on top of all his earnings
Ha! MaKe SeNs!😅
