This video may be old, but this dish doesn't get old...it's what's with dinner today at my house. Yum. One of my favorite things ever. That's the way Mama made it. Thanks for the video!
Now this is a recipe that I will try... Okra has so many healthy benefits... I never quite know how to fix it that Healthy.... this recipe seems most healthy... I used all these ingredients...
wow it looks delicious,😋😋😋😋 thanks for sharing, such a lovely video, enjoyed it fully, watched till the end, presented nicely, loved it, big like,👌👌👌👌👌👌 ur friend here, hope to see u around, #WorldOfPanchPhoron
THANKS!! My neighbor gave me some garden fresh okra yesterday and I wasn't sure what the deal was, but it was nice to see you cook yours to get me going. I sure do appreciate you video, no face time, no yadda yaddaing around, just a camera pointed at the project to help show folks what is up... and no freeking ads... UdaMan! I am going to cook mine right now, I wonder how many of my lil okra will jump out... not wanna be in there. ;)
Looks a lot easier than trying to fry in cornmeal/ flour, I will definitely give this a try, got some okra at the farmers market today and steak to go with it sounds great, thanks for the great video :)
ive been growing okra but they never seem to sprout past a centimeter before they die, but i can always go buy some and try this out! ive always added corn meal but ill add the garlic to the oil and onion this time! thank you hon!
I looked everywhere on how to make okra which is all i eat along with Brussel sprouts. Came across yours. I don't use salt in my food and i only have red onions. I will be trying your recipe. Thanks!
i love brussel also. my wife dices up some bacon in hers. far from being healthy but man is it tasty! as mentioned in a previous comment, u might wanna add your garlic last to avoid the risk of burning. despite the look of it mine it didn't taste bitter but your experience may differ. enjoy and happy hoildays!
Thank you. I just planted a winter garden in central FL. I included okra, yet I've never had okra b4 yet I've heard all the horror stories. I ate a finger size okra from garden yesterday and it was good. Anyway, smacznego!
I love it that way. I grew up on it and couldn’t understand why when I moved away from home people put flour and corn meal on it. I still to this day think breaded okra is awful. Lol
Kathy Adams ~ nobody sautés garlic first !! But yep, don’t understand the cornmeal-fried okra? I like okra and made a MEAN pot of ROUX-based-okra ... gumbo last week - didn’t last two dayz
Great video. Do you any other Okra recipes? Could you add maybe squash or another veggie and do you ever add any spices like "Slap your Mama"? Thanks again!
II am no expert, but, shouldn't you cut up the ingredients before you start to saute the onions, garlic, bell pepper, tomatoes, and okra. The instructions take a long time. because we have to watch the cutting.
BROTHA-I LUV this dish, my West Indian grandmother would cook this dish, but reduce your heat, you burn-N your garlic-and for THOSE that don’t know, burnt garlic taste bitter !
NEVER put the garlic in first as you say it's overdone and will taste bitter. First onion then followed by Okra then the last thing garlic. You can as others have said put chopped skinned Tomato as well make a bit of sauce. Even more delish.
Sinethemba Ngqaza This way it will have a burnt bitter taste. Never put garlic in first. Okra has its own green taste. Put in an egg wash then rolled in cornmeal and fried in oil until browned. I don’t use flour. 👍🏻
I tried this and it was a big fail. Couldn't cut the okra. I had to saw it even with a sharp knife. It never got done, was hard as rocks. What was wrong with the okra? The little seeds came out and weren't edible either. :(
sorry to hear about your okra. sounds like the okra spent too long on the plant prior to being harvested. I learned that the same way. I had to pick mine when they were about 4" long. cucumbers were the same way also.
Yey! Thanks for sharing this video. Looks delicious and I want to cook in our home. Let me share with you the 11 Incredible facts about Okra. Watch this video: th-cam.com/video/LGi_LyksiY8/w-d-xo.html

Thank you so much for this. I’ve never bought and cooked okra myself and most of the recipes required things I didn’t have. I like it!

Looks good. I'd add the garlic in when you add the okra. The garlic was burnt when you were done.
LOOKS YUMMY. I COOK MINE LIKE THAT SOMETIMES.

Great video. Do you any other Okra recipes? Could you add maybe squash or another veggie and do you ever add any spices like "Slap your Mama"? Thanks again!
Do you wash the okra first.
Mmmm looks good!

Kimberly Harris cabbage&kabasass
Thanks for the upload.... Love your accent!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Garlic should have went last
I agree , garlic will get bitter if browned to much but maybe his taste buds enjoy the bitterness ov the dish👍🏻
Should've gone last...
Nah In this kind of okra the point is to have a slight burnt taste, mixed all together with some homemade hot sauce the bitterness is so good!
BROTHA-I LUV this dish, my West Indian grandmother would cook this dish, but reduce your heat, you burn-N your garlic-and for THOSE that don’t know, burnt garlic taste bitter !
The garlic is already burned at 2:10
NEVER put the garlic in first as you say it's overdone and will taste bitter. First onion then followed by Okra then the last thing garlic. You can as others have said put chopped skinned Tomato as well make a bit of sauce. Even more delish.

Nice video new subscribe here 🤝
Doesn't anybody use flower and corn mill?
fantastic food, made you friend make me friend
Sprinkle in a little flour to take up the slime
So it's my first time having okra i first wanna know how it tastes like the description
I honestly dont know what to compare it to. I love them though.
Maybe close to an eggplant taste.
Sinethemba Ngqaza This way it will have a burnt bitter taste. Never put garlic in first. Okra has its own green taste. Put in an egg wash then rolled in cornmeal and fried in oil until browned. I don’t use flour. 👍🏻
Truth no lol not even close yuck
You burned the snot out of the garlic though.
You have too high ,lower the heat so the okra can release some liquid. Yea it smells great 😊
Moving it to fast heat needs to be higher.
This seems like a good recipe, but the garlic was burnt. It's bitter when burnt.
Absolutely right. Whenever I'm pan-frying, I always put the garlic in last, so it doesn't get bitter.
I tried this and it was a big fail. Couldn't cut the okra. I had to saw it even with a sharp knife. It never got done, was hard as rocks. What was wrong with the okra? The little seeds came out and weren't edible either. :(

@@GreenThumb772 Thank you. I got from a farmers market and agree it must've been old.
He stirs too much. Give it time to brown. The way he bangs that spoon against the skillet is annoying as hell.
put onion first then garlic
The garlic was murdered 10 minutes ago.
Maybe onions first, garlic always will burn and get bitter.
Stop beating on the pan. Good video I will try this.
lol... it's a habit I cant help. perhaps in future videos I can maybe mute those out. thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!
That's his pan.. he can beat it all he want to. You got bad nerves. Eat more okra
Rose Harper lol exactly.
Onion should go first, then garlic.
🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮 just kidding love okra
