TruckerMan1, good luck with that fantasy brother. Just be grateful you found this bridge back to how real Outlaw Country is meant to be played. Tune out all the other BS and throw your support into Sturgill, Jamey Johnson, Cody Jinks, Whitey Morgan, Creed Fisher and their kind. Let the majority choke on whatever it is that’s been “promoted” as today’s music. Wear your love for this brand as a badge of honor 💪🏻
I always used to say I 'didn't like' country music, then I discovered Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Roy Orbison, and now, Sturgill carrying the torch on today. Good shit.
No Kidding man! So true.. and so many people comment that they are looking for music like this, but we keep getting force fed pop bullshit country on the radio.. Why is that..? Why can't they leave that stuff on the pop stations and let us have / keep real country...
Hard to believe Laur Joamets was playing heavy metal music in Estonia. He has such a great handle of pure rockabilly guitar playing and really brings a lot of uniqueness into his solo lines. This was hands down Sturgill's best lineup.
What.....when you give up hope for country music and are done with the garbage factory of lifeless "Hits", along comes Sturgill Simpson. Real, pure and what makes this Americas own. Thank You Thank You!
This guy reminds me of a young Waylon Jennings. Where did he come from? The band is great too.The guitar player is spot on country. They don't need a steel player with a guitar picker like this.
Nashville totally refuses to acknowledge guys like Sturgill and bands like Blackberry Smoke. But they're gonna have to if fans like us keep pushing them!!!
Dunno where you all been but Nashville turned its back on Johnny Cash about the time his TV show was cancelled in the 70s. You speak out against the criminal justice system and the bull $hit wars you’ll get black balled. Google American Records Johnny Cash add that appeared in Rolling Stone magazine. It wasn’t Nashville that brought Johnnys music back. It was American Records. Ain’t no mystery why they don’t push John Simpson. Look for Sunny Valley Folded Flag here on you tube and give that a listen. Phuq Nashville
Finally, someone has stepped up to the plate and is singing and playing a country song that's not Bro Country.Yes! There is hope for true country music.
This is so refreshing to me! Sturgill’s voice has this really old soul to it, and the guitarist is playing a bender guitar like the old Tele players! Wish we had more artists like this!!
Sturgill Simpson you are the best thing to happen to country music in the last 15 years!! Love it! Man that tone is powerfull!! Keep it up, heading out to buy both albums now!! Can't wait!!Yeeehawwwww!!!
Saw him last night in Sacramento at Harlow's, absolutely the last time he'll be playing that sized venue. Sold out show, and straight up the best club show I've seen in years. The band is unbelievably tight, the lead guitarist is stupid good, the crowd (a great mixture of pure country fans, hipsters, etc) was WAY into it. Sturgill is the real deal.
I was born in Littlefield, TX. Being a Waylon fan is in my DNA. This dude right here gives me goosebumps. Thank you sir, thank you so very much. I miss Waylon and was too young to remember when he hit the scene. But something tells me it was a lot like this...
I just started listening to Outlaw Country on seriusxm channel 60 and heard this song and Sturgill for the 1st time.... I immediately went online and looked him up... Where the hell has he been, haven't heard him on the other channels at all, never heard his name before, or his sound. I look forward to hearing more of him in the Country Music Industry, he has a great sound, Old Country style, that this Industry needs...

Please Mr. Sturgilll Simpson keep playing this style of country music. Thank you you for your service too in the military. You are awesome brother. Please do not ever change Sir.
Just heard this for the first time by another band. It was great, but this one is magnificent. Glad to become aware of this guy. Damn, that one guy sure knows his way around a tele! Some pretty tasty licks and tone.
Yup. I just about gave up on country music. I like all kinds of music, like most of you I suppose but I have not listened to country music for a number of years now. Haven't bought a country record since...well, I don't recall. Off to buy both of Sturgill's albums right now. Thankyou, Sturgill Simpson.
Don't know how I missed this one. Been an outlaw country fan for a long time...just found the best thing going for country in a long long time! Thank you Sturgill !
Also try cody jinks and whitey Morgan I'm big jamey and sturgill fan I'm always on look out for real country that still exists so trust me you will like them both
Naw man there's plenty of hope but Nashville says there too country for the radio like Eric Strickland,Mickey Lamantia,Tim Culpepper,Blaine Roy,Creed Fisher hell I could go on and on but maybe one day real soon we're have our country back
So good I can't even stand it. My wife really likes Sturgill, too, but she thinks I've lost with how much I've been listening to Metamodern Sounds In Country Music. And just when I think the album is near-perfect, I come across another live recording like this one. So happy to see Sturgill blowing up. There's hope for country music!
The sound production on this video is one of the best, in my opinion. You can hear the vocals clearly over the instruments, which is how music should be. Some have the instrumentals overpowering the vocals and you cant hear what they are saying...which detracts from the song. Good job!
Thumbs down absolutely knows nothing about any music I've been a picker all my life sturgills got the voice and the music GREATLY DONE....KEEP IT UP....
If his guitarist is the 1970’s I don’t know what is. He’s so hot. Well they all are. Sturgil’s voice is Heaven and that guitar could make the best weep. Back beat base and drums are perfect. AMAZING.

'Metamodern' is one of the finest albums i have heard in a long while. great band, and Laur is amazing on that Tele. looking forward to seeing Sturgill in the u.k. in a couple of months.
Although I am not a fan of country, I have to admit that I'm really interested in this. I just learned of this band and I'm actually pretty into it. Keep making great music, it's really appreciated.
Who's still loving it in 2024!?
Literally first song of the day every day
Dear god... PLEASE make country find it's way back to this !!!!!!!
It has.. it just ain’t on the radio
No need, it's already here. Just have to look a little harder
that would be great, if you don't have siriusxm the only thing on the regular radio is a repeating loop of shit
@@amandabailey5596 what channel can I find it on
amen
You know he's good when his live songs are better sounding than his recording songs
Honestly thought he said “long white thang” in the studio recording
Absolutely. (Also that makes it better.)
Yessur!
I love all his live versions 💯%
Check out Martin Sexton. He's same. live is SOOOO GOOOOD.
WoW a country band that actually still has country western sounding music. Thank The Lord!

+TheWatsonGreen Try Waylon Jennings, Sturgill sounds and looks very similar to him.
+Jake Hibbert YES! No doubt Waylon.
so basically you discovered country music.
TheWatsonGreen
You forgot Hank Williams Jr
Check out Tyler Childers
The harmony between sturgill and the drummer is amazing. Best trucker song ever!
But do you hear the bass guitar omfg
This dude could sell 10 million records.... This is the kinda music we are craving. REAL COUNTRY.
No Kidding man! So true.. and so many people comment that they are looking for music like this, but we keep getting force fed pop bullshit country on the radio.. Why is that..? Why can't they leave that stuff on the pop stations and let us have / keep real country...

Absolutely right.
Best I've heard since the first time I heard Waylon Jennings.
.
This guy reminds me of a young Waylon Jennings. Where did he come from? The band is great too.The guitar player is spot on country. They don't need a steel player with a guitar picker like this.
thats what I thought, he sounds like Waylon.
John Glover he's only gonna do 5 albums, he's done 3 so far
Ole sturgill came from Jackson, KY. Just an hour's drive away from me.
My first thought! Young Waylon! :D
Little Joe is playing with Drivin and Cryin now, definitely not an upgrade.
Nashville totally refuses to acknowledge guys like Sturgill and bands like Blackberry Smoke. But they're gonna have to if fans like us keep pushing them!!!

I have serious goosebumps... I didn't know that this type of music was still being made.
I could watch his lead guitarist roll on that geet all day!
Check that.
Yeah man, he's otherworldly. Wonder what he's up to now.
That aint no shit! He's the real deal
Dude seriously killed it. Gave me chills
@@Anonymous_Rhinoceros he’s playin with drivin’ n cryin’ now. i started taking lessons from him and he can absolutely play like nobody’s business.

Finally....somebody keeping country...country...This is fantastic
Now THIS is GREAT COUNTRY MUSIC. I've been listening to country music for 40+ yrs. Thanks to whoever suggested this to me.

This is real country...not that Florida Georgia Line garbage!
Right on
Amen
I had given up on new country music, though i was limited to all them good ol tunes. This somabitch right here has me pulled right back in
Jeremy Whillans this dude reminds me of Waylon so much!
I agree with you...but this dude is the closest thing to those legends Ive heard in modern day music.
These guys rock. It's hard for my ears to believe!! Absolutely nobody doing it like sturgill Simpson right now.
That guitar solo though. His tone and style is unreal
There’s a reason just about any good country lead guitarist plays a Telecaster.
He’s literally turning the volume knob while picking to give it that pedal steel sound.
This is so refreshing to me! Sturgill’s voice has this really old soul to it, and the guitarist is playing a bender guitar like the old Tele players! Wish we had more artists like this!!
Kevin Black is a phenomenal Bass Player. His thoughtful undercurrent is the glue.
If you haven't already. Listen to this with 2 12's about about 1000 watts
Sturgill Simpson you are the best thing to happen to country music in the last 15 years!! Love it! Man that tone is powerfull!! Keep it up, heading out to buy both albums now!! Can't wait!!Yeeehawwwww!!!
I love this music. They're all as good as the others. Bass, drums, the guitars... And THE voice. Perfect mix.
Man...serious Waylon sound...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. So refreshing that the other stuff going around. Thank you for keeping it real Sturgill!!!
This is proof, it's sometimes what you don't play that makes it work. Love the timing of this song.
Saw him last night in Sacramento at Harlow's, absolutely the last time he'll be playing that sized venue. Sold out show, and straight up the best club show I've seen in years. All I can say is THANK YOU for this level of musical perfection! ❤❤

Keepin country driving on!!! Lovin it with all ma heart can stand. Luv u Sturgill
It just keeps getting better every time!!!!!!
Man Id kill to see him play in a Nashville-like venue. He's even better live than in the recording studio! The bluesy guitar touch is just perfect!
Seems like country music is making a comeback. God, I sure hope so! This has timeless written all over it. Catchy and classic. Pure country
this is real country with heart. thanks for keeping it alive.
Who knew you could go back and end up being a breath of fresh air? Nice to be excited about some real music. There is something good here. Real good.

One of the all time great trucking/driving songs
This is just great! I love this version of this song. Guitar player is awesome.
Absolutely one of my favorite country songs ever! I wish he would do more country. I wish I could hear this on country radio. Reminds me of waylon.
About time someone stood up and played some Real country music.
He sounds like a cross between Haggard and Jennings. I love it. The real Country sound and feel.
Doesn't get any better than this-not today.
Really great music. Just shows that good country music is still out there.
Great song! The drummer is his voice match, like Don Rich was to Buck Owens! That's very rare!
The sound production on this video is one of the best, in my opinion. You can hear the vocals clearly over the instruments, which is how music should be. Some have the instrumentals overpowering the vocals and you cant hear what they are saying...which detracts from the song. Good job!
Now THIS is country. New “country” is pop.
It's almost like Willie and Waylon had a son!! This guy is awesome!! Lyrics and music take me vack to a time of true country music!!
Thumbs down absolutely knows nothing about any music I've been a picker all my life sturgills got the voice and the music GREATLY DONE....KEEP IT UP....

Got a Waylon thing going on! Love it
I love country music
First time I've enjoyed country music since the early 90's, when Vince Gill and George Strait were in their prime.
Padies and gentleman, meet the official Outlaw and King of Country Music
Man he is the culmination of George Jones, Waylon Jennings, Jerry Reed, Johnny Cash, all the greats I grew up on. I love it
Absolutely brilliant!!!
Together with Jamey Johnson, The Outlaw Country spirit lives.
kevin Poulton Oh my god! Thats an awesome idea!! Real country is alive!
Go check out Eric Strickland and the B sides
If his guitarist is the 1970’s I don’t know what is. He’s so hot. Well they all are. Sturgil’s voice is Heaven and that guitar could make the best weep. Back beat base and drums are perfect. AMAZING.
This guy can actually sing, play the guitar like a boss his band plays their instruments too, and his lyrics have meaning and soul behind them and he doesn't shake and dance around like a pansy ass, no wonder he's not famous and fairly unknown to the mainstream country audience. I fucking love this, stay real sturgill and fellas, true music from the soul I knew some people were still out there do no it.
Is real country music back? It's been so long since I've heard country sound like this.
Can't stop listening to this tune! It's so great!
This is real country music.
Need a whole lot more of this guy. Great song. Yes he does sound a lot like Waylon Jennings.
props to the drummer. great voice.
