Dude.. it was solid as hell. Band was groovin no doubt. But to go out on a limb and say greatest performance ever seems impulsive and makes me question your music knowledge. Its easy to get carried away when you're rockin I understand that completely. After all it is subjective so maybe you still feel this way today.

    "Keep It Between The Lines"
    Don't turn mailboxes into baseballs
Don't get busted selling at seventeen
Most thoughts deserve about two or three more
    Motoroil is motoroil
    Just keep your engine clean
Keep your eyes on the prize
    Everything will be fine
Long as you stay in school
    Stay off the hard stuff
    And keep between the lines
Don't burn two lanterns at the same time
No ship out on the water will pay your rent
Cause you live and you learn
    Sometimes you get burned
When your get out done got up
Walked out the door and went
    Do as I say
    Don't do as I've done
    It don't have to be
Like a father, like his son
Don't let them try to upsell you
There's a reason they make chocolate and vanilla, too
If there's any doubt, there is no doubt
    The gut don't never lie
And the only word you'll ever need to know in life is "why"
Keep your head out of the clouds
    And remember to be kind
    And just stay in school
    Stay off the drugs
    And keep between the lines
(Don't, don't sweat the small stuff)
    (Can't sweat the small stuff)

He's even better live and in person. I saw him last year and it was amazing. He ripped through the entire album in order from front to back, then played the rest of his songs. I know some people don't like the horns, but they just sound right to me.

Bummer to hear that both the horns and lead guitarist won't be part of the band going forward. I'm sure the next iteration will be great in its own way, but man I love this sound right here!

    • @patdees420
      @patdees420 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Clayton keates I agree 100%. He probably could hear the acoustic a bit in the monitor, but there’s no damn way it could cut through a band that big and hot. And he didn’t care one bit. Love it

That band was feeling good you could tell man. They were rocking, things were clicking and shit was rocking you can't mistake that feeling. I've never seen sturgill let loose like that, and I know his guitar wasn't even coming through on the mic. I think he might of been coked up. Sometimes it works as a performance enhancer if you are a bit reserved. That band let it all bleed out that was lovely. Can't give enough credit to the band tbh, the drummer, bass, the sax and trumpet as well as all the horns. Piano man, thats what happens when solid creativity meets professional players with the right energy going.
