The first time I heard this song, I was living in the back of an old Ford pickup at a truck stop near Moorcroft, Wyoming and I thought it was the greatest song I'd ever heard.
It’s definitely ONE of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Has a great Waylon Jennings feel, but Sturgill makes it even better! Live when says “come on now” to his lead guitar player just before the guy ‘goes off’. That’s some badass guitar playing.

Now im listening to Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams, Colter Wall, ect.. All it takes is one phenomenal artist to open you up to a whole genre
I been there and lived this song before. I ad an ex gf tell me one morning that she is leaving me. She was sure surprised when i said "ok hold on to that thought". Then grabbed my cell and called dispatcher Jerry and asked what di he have leaving out right now. 5 minutes late he called me back and said "Hey Dave how does Santa Anna sound? i got a load of Kitchen Kompact ready to go you need to get on it though. Give me the word I'll have you hooked up and ready by the time you get here. How does that sound?" and i said responded "i'll be there in in hour and half" Then i looked her and see ya later have a good one and i was gone.
