- This intake is going to be a major key for this motor and the future motor on a budget. These intakes are rare and getting harder to find. Its the closest to a factory swap out option. fuel line connection is the same as the LS. All the fuel delivery in the factory SBC vortec motors are inside the intake taking up valuable plenum space that higher horse power applications need. also the ability to put whatever injectors you want in it. I'm starting off the process with breaking down the intake, porting the throttle body opening for the BBK T/B, and drilling and taping the 3/8 npt hole for the brake booster. Also going to get new O rings for the injectors. Next is to drop everything off at powder coat.

My bad for the wait man. I still have to get it back from powder coat. So I gotta wait on that for the next step.
Have you finished the injector wiring ? I am looking at a sub-harnes ,from SUMMIT RACING , THAT will plug into the spider wire after i match the plug from the harness and put the mating one on the cut spider wires . This one ,FAST XFI Fuel Injector Harnesses 301201 - or Holley EFI Systems Wiring Harnesses 558-200 , one of these should do it . I will let you know !

Cool, I wasn't aware of this option. Next time you want to use a cutting bit on aluminum, keep a cup of ATF next to you and keep that bit lubed up good to lessen the clogging.
I have one of these bro . Been wanting to swap into my ride but got other intakes I wanna mess with too well see. This one flows really good I like that it looks like an lSX intake.

Yeah right. The final shot is not even the same part or vehicle. The intake is a Vortec style, the last pic is a LS based engine.
The only Mercruiser I ever heard of was the LT5 in the ZR1s.
$450 for a manifold aint bad. The manifolds for my 93 Cobra are $1k and up to $8k!
Yeah dude. It’s a great option. Plus it’s complete with minimum modifications. If I wasn’t running the BBK I wouldn’t have had to port it.

Not yet. Still working on it. I fall down rabbit holes with stuff like this. I just bought some inner fender wells to add to the powder coat list. Wanted the top of the intake to match my paint along with the inner fender wells. Then I thought why not put a new distributor in. So when that stuff comes in I’m going to keep moving forward. Definitely making a video each step of the way.
@@RCSmith90 Good Luck with it and keep pushing forward. Please keep us in the loop . I’ve put a lot of time & money into my suburban with the 5.7 vortec. I truly hate the spider injection system. My truck has never run right since doing the upgrade to Mpfi. Great videos & Thanks again.
If powder coating to your color doesnt work out, you can try having it hydro-dipped, or procure a 2K color enamel that best matches your paint. Eastwood sells 2K primer and 2K gloss clear engine enamels that are chemical resistant and very durable. Expand your horizons.....
Eastwood is great, been using it for years. I’m choosing to do powder coat because of my limited time with work, school, and family. Plus I like the look. It’s Eastwood 2k on my front and back bumper.

@@RCSmith90 watched all videos i actually took a a small block vortec carb intake and drilled injector holes myself I wanting to know or get advice how you wired your injectors on your marine intake.
There is Indmar mcx 5.7 350. intake like ls. until 2004 with mechanical throttle from Blazer. Greetings from Russia.

Not sure of the exact ford interchangeable injector. Other than the EV6 connection, I didn’t get that far yet. Ive been looking through other company injectors to find the sure shot options.

Not yet. I fell down the rabbit hole. I bought aluminum heads to go with it and now I’m buying a cam. So now when I install it, it’s going to be Intake, heads, and cam. Getting the cam In A couple months.

They have an even bigger option that’s even more rare. I would say your one of your best bets is Facebook market place. eBay is going to be as high as Giraffe ass. Plus you may have to take a decent drive. Also you can ask in the OBS, GMT400 forums.

Haven’t tested it in my hands, but the closest latch I found with similar spacing is the ones that come with the Holley intake for Vortec Motors.

Use WD-40 while you're grinding. It'll clear out the carbide burr and keep it from clogging up again.
I didn’t use WD-40 but I used a cutting lube by a different brand. I think that’s the only reason it didn’t get cakes up worse. I need to stop BSing and get the proper bit for aluminum 😂😂.
@@RCSmith90 that's a double cross-cut burr for ferrous metals, but they can cut aluminum too. The WD-40 for a barrier between the the burr and the hot aluminum. The clogged area will just fly off and stay off. Maybe your grinder wasnt turning the rpm needed to fling the clogs off. I've been doing cylinder head and intake work for 23 years......I use the double cross cut after a single cut fluted non ferrous burr to smooth out the larger trenches. After the double cut I go to stones.....then cartridge rolls.
I’ll try the WD-40 on something similar next time. The stuff I used for drilling through metal is what I tried with the burr.

Exactly! I wish there was an aluminum option for the base. It cleaned up pretty good. I uploaded the transformation a few days ago. Definitely check it out.
Drill the plate for the idle air control valve. USE THE SPACER!
Just found a guy on the OBS forum that used the spacer without drilling a whole in it. He pointed out something I missed in the design of the BBK throttle body. After looking I see it take air from the inside of the throttle body and not the base. So I can use the spacer without drilling.
@@RCSmith90 very cool. I started scratching my head.....I've done business with BBK for almost 30 years and I cant ever remember them making mistakes. They've always had great instructional write ups too.
I probably had to look on the website. Surprisingly it didn’t come with actual instructions.

There is a guy that did it on TH-cam and explains a lot. His situation was the same as yours, early 2000s truck V6 Vortec with a marine intake. Then he put a small turbo on it.

@@pops3554 THATS GOIMG TO BE SUPER COOL. Sbc builds are phasing out with all the LS stuff. One of my other vehicles will get an LS. But I gotta have so SBC stuff for sure.
