    Hi, thanks for the review, but I dont really get it, is this gan6 bad in general or is it a few percent worse than the previous gan3? There aren't many options where i live, either Baseus or Ugreen(no safety listing on most models)
    If this gan6 is just a few percents worse than it's previous but still ok in general then it should work for me??? i only need to charge phones and watches, the 65w version is probably better for me, what do you think?

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a few percent worse than the previous generation. A few percent difference is generally the difference between overheating and operating. This means longer lasting, etc.
      Will it work, yes, everything I've tested and presented works. For a phone and a watch I'd probably go 45W Ikea. That thing is the value king and it's a good adapter.

    You plugged in a MagSafe cable into that Baseus charger in the video, and all Lightning and MagSafe Apple chargers that use USB-C draw power without any device connected. Have you tried plugging in other non-Apple USB-C to C cables?

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

  • @TheGerringtons
    @TheGerringtons 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Its been a tough choice for me picking bricks in the 100w range.
    Could you list some real world situations between the GaN3 baseus and the Anker prime A2343 100w? I know that the anker one has better negotiations and such with the charging but do you have a quick example on top of ur mind that would prove the difference? It would really help me to put the nail in the coffin and just buy one haha. Love your detailed videos!

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For me, the GaN3 makes more sense. I haven't had any issues with the negotiation being slow. So, it takes 20 seconds to figure out what's plugged in, but once it does it moves right along and everything is charged when I need it. The efficiency is a top tier performer. The lower efficiency counts the GaN6 adapter out. The Anker is better for some modern devices though, in that it can negotiate almost instantly so has a wider span of compatibility. It is also better for international travel with lower leakage current, so no tingling laptop while plugged in. The Baseus will leave you tingling on 240V in. So, if you travel, Anker, if you are 120V country based, and not traveling too much, Baseus GaN3. But that's just my two cents.

    Great review, really appreciate the hard work!
    Regarding strike 3, you are plugging another active power supply into the Baseus charger, so you should consider checking how much power is being supplied to the Apple charger as the power for that has to come from somewhere.

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      0.24 watts with an apple adapter and the magsafe puck. With this one you plug in any cable that talks back and it goes over a watt. An unterminated USB C to C cable is fine.

  • @angelclaw
    @angelclaw หลายเดือนก่อน

    Is the USB negotiation speed useful in any way if the negotiation has already taken place? Does it make the charge more reliable? Also, I've ordered an Rocoren 100w which is the same Gan3 charger but with removable cord for 25 bucks, I think it's the best deal for the price. Hope I can get 45w PPS with my S23 Ultra and some 27w PPD(samsung wireless duo pad) at the same time. What are your thoughts on this setup?

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      They don't stop negotiating. It's a continuous communication. Yeah, that deal doesn't sound bad at all, I think that setup should be perfectly fine, not overloading the power adapter so hopefully it has a decent lifespan.

    • @angelclaw
      @angelclaw 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@AllThingsOnePlaceDamn, that's why my 120W Baseus Gan2 has problems with my S23 Ultra charging? It starts with PPS charging at around 25w then at around 50% battery it goes in a renegotiation loop. For the first seconds I get the fast charging 2.0 then it downgrades the speed. Hope the Gan3 fixes this. And I also hope the Rocoren 100w is the same with Baseus 100w like you explained in another video, since I've chosen to get the cheaper option. The only difference between Baseus and Rocoren 100W chargers with extension cord is the power sharing factor. The Baseus is 65W/30W on the C ports and the Rocoren is 45/45W on the same C ports which I like better for my use case.

    I currently have the Baseus Gan3 100W, but because a few of my devices are quite old and have weak batteries, they will be reset into charging if another device is fully charged or plugged in. So each device triggers the charger to reset and the charger keeps resetting non-stop :’D

      No existe una marca o marcas sobresalientes, por eso hay estos videos, en la data ( 8:07 ) se pueden apreciar ciertos cargadores con mas eficiencia promedio que otros, tambien depende en sus requisitos de carga entre otros factores ya que esto puede influenciar un producto de una marca "confiable" sobre otro que tiene un marketing menor pero es un producto mas adecuado para sus necesidades, la eficiencia es una buena manera de ir clasificando los cargadores, otra podria ser el precio y su relacion con la eficiencia.

I have the 7-port Baseus w/3AC-lets and an off-switch, but I never opened the box once I saw the 5W limitation on USB-A-1. Deal breaker for me, unless there's wisdom to justify it. Is there? They did visually mark it at least, but it still could be clearer. I think I removed the bit talking about trickle charging, but yeah, no idea what they are talking about for the product itself or lack of knowledge of how devices charge at all clearly presented in the marketing material should give you everything you need to know... It's sad but I imagine that GaN3 will be off the market soon replaced by this.

      That's the rub right? Baseus. haha Just not this one. I can't win that one. Everyone has different requirements, the GaN3 version of this tends to be the most compatible and useable of the different power adapters I've used. It's top tier efficiency, it isn't the best at USB negotiation, it isn't the most modern, the quality is questionable. Alternately, the Anker Prime 100W wall adapter A2343 I think, is pretty good, not quite as efficient, but more modern, better USB sharing, and hopefully better durability, but MTFB, mean time before failure, I bet is the same on every single one of these.

I also considered the Baseus 100W Desktop Charger GaN3 but from some reason is rated from 120V up (because in Japan 100V is the standard, so not sure if it would be safe to use it) or get the 65W desktop version 🤔.

      I actually just got that 65w GaN6 from Baseus and I can tell you that it sips power at idle, at least. Under 0.0 (so 0.09 or lower) based on my kill-a-watt, for whatever that is worth. I JUST got the 65w Baseus GaN6 unit, despite the fact that the 65w class is hot garbage in general. As I mentioned in another comment, the 65w GaN6 unit is sipping just 0.09w or lower at idle. (Could be much lower, but no idea since the freakin’ Kill-a-Watt I use has just one decimal place, so it just shows “0.0” on its derpy LCD.)

I'm not an engineer and i don't have equipment to test quantitative data, but I can tell you I'm satisfied with it so far, it's compact portable and does it's job, it feels well built. It gets warm but not super hot, I have yet to test it at full capacity for a long period of time though.
      As it has only 2 pins and not 3 like my normal laptop charger though, it's less isolated and in some occasions I could even feel some tingling form current through the metal body of my laptop.
      This only happened with a couple of wall inputs though, and they were from a 40 year old home so it might be that the electrical system itself isn't super well built. When carrying it around study hall and such this never happened

      In an ideal world we'd already have it all, cost be damned. For just power distribution the issue becomes converting then converting again, since USB has rules that it has to be 5V before negotiation happens, you'd lose efficiency at every node so it would be very poor after just a few connections. Many devices won't be able to use higher voltages. It would be possible to create USB PD end points on a daisy chain for powering several mini computers much more efficiently but it wouldn't share data. I am sure there is some way to make it work though.
