I've seen some DIY power bank cases looking very similar to this powerbank listed on AliExpress. The best I've seen is listed as 22.5W PD, but also says it supports up to 100W. It would be interesting to see these tested with some quality cells.
during the crowdfunding campaign, they were going to go with red panasonic cells but there was a supply shortage so ended up using the blue samsung ones you see today. this was in 2021. considering the anker and ugreen models came out much later (this year for the anker prime), this storm 2 power bank shows its longevity. i use one of mine for portable soldering. it is helpful looking at the screen to look at power draw. i don’t need it to be super accurate for that so it serves my needs well over the years. and they now have plans for a new “cyberpunk” style power bank after their crowdfunding is over.
I love the video, great information. Do you have a video or maybe one in the works on what all the information means on the back of the batteries (safety logos, volt info, etc.)
Hey, firstly I absolutely love your channel and the reviews that you do, especially the power bank ones - they’re so informative (even if I don’t understand most of the data sometimes 😅) I wanted to ask: what power bank would you suggest for someone who travels (and can take on an airplane) and will mostly use it to recharge my iPhone and MacBook? Kind of like a best bang for buck :) thanks in advance!
This one have compatibility issue with Rog Ally, it just couldn’t charge at all. One neat thing you can do is after pry open the button, you can fully customize the internal with stickers.
I have this power bank. My cable stopped working after a few months, but could just be bad luck I suppose. I have their 100w power brick as well, which could be the issue, and it only hits 90w on the charge. I've never used the DC port. Honestly it just looked cool, and there weren't many other options with 100w output a couple years ago (that I had found). Also, the timer is really weird. After 99 hours, it just resets. There is no count of how many times it has ticket over. So I have no real idea how many hours i have put through it.
Yeah, I haven't given the cables any long term use but yeah, this power bank makes more sense than the slim, at least the ratings are within reason. It looks like they have a new power bank on kick starter with a smaller battery and rated to 170 watts out.
Nice video as always. I actually like the inclusion of these helpful displays on higher capacity batteries. They're not critical to have and they're unnecessary, but it's great to see which way power is going and how much is left. For the always-on stuff, I wonder when someone will consider using idk, e-ink to make it always-on without having to worry about the panel discharging the battery. Or heck, even just a series of LEDs with different colors for different modes would've been fine too, but I guess panels are cool. Also I'm hyped for what's next. I like thin but powerful chargers. I have a 20W Belkin one and it's handy for emergencies since it's so easy to slip into a bag or a side pocket since it's co compact unlike cubes or bricks. A thin 60W charger, a USB-C cable and a Macbook Air or an LG Gram sounds like a killer combo for lightweight but long-term use.
Great video, thank you very much! Do you have the tables you show in your videos aggregated anywhere for quick comparisons, by any chance? Like the table at 11:00.
Yeah, there is an IEEE article on how they are difficult to test, but that was sponsored by manufacturers who don't want anything tested. I have been working on it for a while now.
Hi, if you were to recommend a solid premium power bank which one would it be? Highest priority would be safety. IE least fire hazards, then performance. Thank you
Hi, what would you recommend? I'm torn between getting the Shargeek Storm2 or backing the new Shargeek 170 on kickstarter. I like the Storm2 with more features and functions like the DC plug and temperature meter and so on but was thinking whether the newer Shargeek 170 at kickstarter price and emphasis on better managing the heat issue and power delivery would be more reliable. What's your recommendation? Thanks in advance.
Yeah, the 170 has more watts and a smaller battery. That's a cash grab. The Storm 2 mostly does what it claims at least. I know it isn't as cool looking...
@@AllThingsOnePlacethanks for the reply. I'm looking for a transparent power bank as my next unit. That's why I'm hovering around at Shargeek even though they have some teething issues... Although Shargeek 170 is 24000mAh as compared to the 25600mAh of the Storm2, it is 119usd on kickstarter and additional 20-30usd for shipping. So its about 139usd, which is still cheaper than the black Friday price of 159usd of the storm2. I actually prefer the functionality of storm2 and the interactiveness of the screen and button. The Shargeek 170 screen is bigger but appears more passive and nerfed in details... I think I may take the plunge for the kickstarter hoping that they have truly improved on the temperatures and reliability for the Shargeek 170. And perhaps suggest to them to kickstart an upgraded and improved storm2 ver2 with better reliability, etc..
I've had mine since the kickstarter and the battery percentage has become flaky. It will show 0% and still keep charging my devices. I am guessing that it went out of whack at some point because I normally keep it charged but it drops from 99% to below 10% very fast (less than a minute). I first freaked out and plugged it in to charge it and it went straight to 99% which also was sketchy but I believed the 99% since I hadn't used it to deplete it. So I am currently running it down as far as I can, hopefully it doesn't ruin it. It still says 100% battery life after what it says is 186 cycles. Once I get it as low as it will go while sitting at 0% for the majority of the time hopefully when I recharge it, it will get back into normal percentage showing. I don't like how it drains when not even used (even when turned off) faster when just left alone and the display goes off after 1 min. but still drains when off, nothing like grabbing a power bank to go and throwing it in your bag to find it is at 50% when you go to use it. Good review and agree it's just a power bank and probably not worth it in the long run. I'm a fan of kickstarter and like to try new things so I get what I get.
Good video, greetings from Mexico. Finally Samsung has presented its new 25W power adapter (EP-T2510). Could you do a teardown and performance test of this wall charger in the future? It will be of great interest. Thank you very much for the valuable content on your channel.
hmmm, yeah that wouldn't make sense, the 20k makes sense since its very compact and travel friendly. But yeah, I have the 30k to (rav power version) to look at sometime.
Nice review -- wondering if you might test/review the ISDT Power 200X? (they make three of varying single port output abilities but the 200X seems to be their "top of the line")
Yeah, I can't find that it actually exists, I've tried ordering it, got the 200 shipped out twice, then had orders cancelled on me. If they make it difficult to get I'm not giving it anymore time or effort. Skip. I have the normal 200 which I will look at eventually.
Great video! Would love to see you review the Jaguar PM 187 powerbank. It uses 21700 cells with a capacity of 20k mAh which has a claimed max output of 65 watts. It quite compact for its rated capacity and it also has a digital display for battery percentage and output/input info. It generally costs around 20-30 USD where I'm from so I would love if it you would put it through your review process to see if its actually legit despite being on the budget side.
If it took care of the batteries and monitored temperature more carefully, these should easily last years, with daily use near the power limit, probably looking at 500 cycles. The batteries are actually replaceable more so in this power bank than others.
I would go for any power bank rated 65w or higher. The thing I wish they would do is state if the power bank can do it continuously. Generally for laptops you are looking at only 1 charge from a power bank but with todays notebooks that's basically an extra day of work, as long as you aren't rendering video or gaming. You are going to need a bigger battery.
They must have changed something *very* recently, because mine does not support passthrough at all, no matter what is plugged in. There is zero power coming out of the USB ports when its charging, and it will terminate power to devices connected to the USB ports when wall power is connected. I bought this to replace my first Anker 737 which failed, but bought a second Anker 737 to replace *this* battery bank, after Anker refused to warranty the first 737 after it stopped working in 1 month and they advised me to just dispose of it.
That is very unusual of Anker, I usually hear the opposite of their warranty service but I have never experienced it myself. Yeah, this Shargeek worked with basically every feature. This is the modern version with the new company name inside, Sharge now, so maybe some firmware updates? I don't know if you can update the firmware in this one or not.
I have a question. I want to pick UGREEN 300W NEXODE or maybe Anker 717 as my tiny lab power supply, but my problem is that's i don't know which linear regulator i could apply to convert one of these wall charger in to small regulated power supply. Can you help me to solve this question by giving me some direction for a product to buy ?
P.S : I'm aware about the existence of MDP-P906 Mini Digital Programmable Adjustable Linear Laboratory Power, but unfortunately this solution is very expensive for my pocket,so for this reason i need to find something else, but with the same capabilities of MDP-P906.
I would just get a PD trigger with adjustable PPS if you want to use USB. Switching lab power supplies are fairly inexpensive now though so you can probably get something for less with a current and voltage limit as well as display that will be much more functional.
Eventually, I'll look at it. Anyway, it looks like it's got lots of watts, less battery, and will probably be an overheating mess while being overpriced.
hi thx for the review !! but can u tell me why my storm 2 taking power from my laptop instead of giving it ?? or to be more specific i used to charge my laptop with it used to work but now not anymore :( the output used to charge but now not anymore it does only charge the mobile
so I have this power bank but the output is only about 20-25 w at best using the supplied cable (and any other) on USB C1...is there something I may need to do to fix that?
@@Lemonhead8890 The protocol is proprietary that those chargers use. I don't have a simulator that can talk the protocol they use. I have a device that can detect if it is compatible but it won't force the device into that mode.
@AllThingsOnePlace Ohhh ya that right, I forgot their whole thing is proprietary... gotcha, thank you for explaining. I just figured the charger may operate somewhat in line with a normal charger when not using its fast charging tech. I guess I was just wondering if they actually made some decent quality stuff as far as wasted energy or high idle.
So I’m trying to look for a powerbank for oled steam deck. I was going to get this but now I know it overheats im pretty turn down from it. Any light reliable banks that doesn’t overheat for the steam deck. I know it’s a hard ask.
Yeah, that's so new of a device, no idea what actually works with it or not. The steam deck may be fine with this power bank since it won't draw 100 watts. This one actually over heats much less easily versus the slim version.
@@AllThingsOnePlace I actually want the slim for the weight. Will it overheat less if I charge it while the device is off? But not sure if that defeats the purpose of having a power bank unless there is not outlet nearby.
For a power bank, any of the larger ones that doesn't overheat basically. The MBP 14 has a 70 watt hour battery alone so that plus a phone plus losses, no 'airline' ready power bank is going to charge both devices even once. If you just need to extend work time a bit, this or any other is going to work. The ones that over heat you have to use a 60W cable to charge the laptop back up to not stop charging during transfer.
@@AllThingsOnePlace I think I don't need to charge two devices at once, but would be great to add additinal few hours of work to my MBP during flights or conferences where you don't have access to the socket. This one looks cool but other than that it's average, so I'm not fully convinced that the price is justified here.
One thing I am interested in seeing is which GaN charger can output 130w to my Anienware x14r2 for hours under a gaming load. Curious to see if they would overheat.
Many chargers will overheat if you try to continuously pull that much power from them. The supplied power adapters are designed to cope with longer term output, they still aren't 100% duty cycle. You basically have to go up to a power station and the 130W AC to DC brick with the laptop. Not elegant but it will work, or software limit the device to 100 watts in with a conventional USB device.
Ok thanks for the info. Really enjoy and appreciate you work on testing these devices. I would still like to see aftermarket laptop batteries vs OEM, as I know some of the aftermarket ones a down right dangerous.
I agree with you, I think the only great think about this power bank, is that it uses top shelf Samsung Japanese cell's, and that it uses a cool transparent case. But other then that, the spec's, and the data you acquired from it, would not cause anyone to want to merry the power bank to a USB device, cause that marriage just won't last long. You could bribe it with a doughnut, but thats not going to work either. Also, when you turned the power off and back on again, I couldn't believe how long it too it to wake up, I was watching your top meter for what felt like 10-seconds, before a readout showed back up again, I was like, dam, this is not a full sized PC, shouldn't take it that long. How much code did they program into the IC, clearly too much!
haha, yeah, it's quite slow. The button pushes aren't consistent either so it mis reads the one button it has sometimes. There is also no UI feedback so it's push and hold and push but for how long? It doesn't respond until you let go. I have heard people have issues with the power bank being flat and never coming back on after several months which if you leave it active will happen. I still have the slim 2 around and it still boots up, but you have to remember to shut it down.

They say power delivery on two of the ports so I would expect it to work. It won't be more than 100 watts though so don't expect full performance from the laptop. Also, the power bank will overheat and shutdown before it delivers all of it's energy to the laptop if you are running full tilt.

Have you considered revewi the goal zero Sherpa 100PD? Looks tough, but I'm curious if it's all bark and no bite. Love the channel and content - thanks!
Yeah, it is on the list, has been for a while. Just haven't spent the money yet.
I've seen some DIY power bank cases looking very similar to this powerbank listed on AliExpress. The best I've seen is listed as 22.5W PD, but also says it supports up to 100W.
It would be interesting to see these tested with some quality cells.
I have a couple shells and some batteries to test. It's time consuming is the biggest stop for that.
during the crowdfunding campaign, they were going to go with red panasonic cells but there was a supply shortage so ended up using the blue samsung ones you see today. this was in 2021.
considering the anker and ugreen models came out much later (this year for the anker prime), this storm 2 power bank shows its longevity.
i use one of mine for portable soldering. it is helpful looking at the screen to look at power draw. i don’t need it to be super accurate for that so it serves my needs well over the years.
and they now have plans for a new “cyberpunk” style power bank after their crowdfunding is over.
Yeah, this one is miles ahead of the slim thankfully. Hopefully, the newer offerings do a little better on the performance side.
I love the video, great information. Do you have a video or maybe one in the works on what all the information means on the back of the batteries (safety logos, volt info, etc.)
No that video needs to be made though. It'll be more than one video since there are so many.
Absolute banger of a review, thank you for your knowledge
Thanks.
Hey, firstly I absolutely love your channel and the reviews that you do, especially the power bank ones - they’re so informative (even if I don’t understand most of the data sometimes 😅)
I wanted to ask: what power bank would you suggest for someone who travels (and can take on an airplane) and will mostly use it to recharge my iPhone and MacBook? Kind of like a best bang for buck :) thanks in advance!
I'm going to be doing a summary video soon that will hopefully answer this. It should be out in a few weeks.
This one have compatibility issue with Rog Ally, it just couldn’t charge at all. One neat thing you can do is after pry open the button, you can fully customize the internal with stickers.
Interesting I wonder why it doesn't work.
Thanks for the review. Can you do some goal oriented videos, like better power banks for charging phones vs laptop, etc?
I will do a summary video, kind of buyers guide focused video. Better is difficult since you never know what everyone wants.
@@AllThingsOnePlace thank you.
Aesthetics is a big part of the Shargeek product range, there are not many other products out there like them. But you'll pay for it!
Thanks, yeah it does, when next to a bunch of power power banks, stand out.
Yeah, I want to get more 60 watt range power banks. Of course design principles...you get to choose two: high power, lots of capacity or compact.
No low voltage shut off is a no go.
This is the power bank for people that want to manually push buttons and go through menus.
Great video, thank you very much! Do you have the tables you show in your videos aggregated anywhere for quick comparisons, by any chance? Like the table at 11:00.
Not yet. ha I need to get going on that.
Does a 100 w charger manage to max out the input for this power bank? For example the Anker prime 100w you reviewed recently
Very close, 91W in on this one.
@@AllThingsOnePlaceSo In terms of time until full charge, it will be as if its getting maxed out with a 100w charger +- a couple of mins?
Great review, thank you. I would also be very interested in a review for the Shargeek 170.
Yeah, I'm avoiding it, but it'll be on eventually.
How about BASEUS 420W Power Station or the JACKERY 300plus Power Station.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Is there a way to test MagSafe chargers? That whole category is not well reviewed in my opinion
Yeah, there is an IEEE article on how they are difficult to test, but that was sponsored by manufacturers who don't want anything tested. I have been working on it for a while now.
A few people have said when they received these units they were DOA which made me stay away from buying them
Yeah, that's not good.
Hi, if you were to recommend a solid premium power bank which one would it be? Highest priority would be safety. IE least fire hazards, then performance. Thank you
I'm working on a video, coming out this Saturday (hopefully) on my best picks for power banks.
Yeah I have also had this issue with some of the newer anker power banks. Seems like software bugs.
Good video, greetings from Mexico. Finally Samsung has presented its new 25W power adapter (EP-T2510). Could you do a teardown and performance test of this wall charger in the future? It will be of great interest. Thank you very much for the valuable content on your channel.
Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to check that one out.
I like that this has 12V. The barrel adapter replacement story very much falls apart without 12V.
Yeah, very few devices skip 12V now, apple and anker basically.
It works with xiaomi phones? Like, the 120w charging mode.
The Evatronic 20k 60w seems to be discontinued in favor of a 30k 65w. With how sus every other 30k battery looks I am wondering how real it is.
hmmm, yeah that wouldn't make sense, the 20k makes sense since its very compact and travel friendly. But yeah, I have the 30k to (rav power version) to look at sometime.
Great review and testing! Could you please perform a test/review on the Zendure SuperTank Pro?
Yeah. It’s been on the list for awhile.
What’s the best one right now
For heavy metal?
IMO ZMI's 25000mah powerbank(QB826G) is best, for price, stability or specs.
It's a big power bank but it does perform well.
@AllThingsOnePlace the one with the rubber coating that you hate 😂
Nice review -- wondering if you might test/review the ISDT Power 200X? (they make three of varying single port output abilities but the 200X seems to be their "top of the line")
Yeah, I can't find that it actually exists, I've tried ordering it, got the 200 shipped out twice, then had orders cancelled on me. If they make it difficult to get I'm not giving it anymore time or effort. Skip. I have the normal 200 which I will look at eventually.
Whats the best power bank with a dc out?
I haven't tested too many, this is probably up there for that use case.
Thanks yeah, that sounds like a good one to check out. I did just pick up another budget oriented one too.
Looking forward to more powerbank reviews!
So since the batteries are not replaceable how long will this power bank last before it goes tits up?
If it took care of the batteries and monitored temperature more carefully, these should easily last years, with daily use near the power limit, probably looking at 500 cycles. The batteries are actually replaceable more so in this power bank than others.
good video dude well done
Thanks!
If you had to choose only 1 overall best power bank, what are you choosing? Thanks.
Satechi 165W is my current go to. It has charged anything I've plugged into it.
I would love to see a review on the Zendure SuperTank Pro, pricey one though
Yeah, that's been on the list forever.
What would be your recommendation for a powerbank for the lenovo legion go which needs a 65w charging... Thank you for doing videos like this.
Test the nitecore powerbanks!
I have some of them here.
Thanks for the review. Can you please review Cuktech 20 Power Bank 25,000mAh? That battery look very nice, but I didn’t find any detail review on it.
I added it to the list. It will probably be a while. If that is the no20 then it is already reviewed as it is the same as the ZMI power bank.
Does it do Usb negotiation when plug two or more devices??
Secondly, Does it share the Watt as Total or single ?
Yes, it renegotiates, shared wattage.
@@AllThingsOnePlace They are just using Us to Cash Out Money, 😂
@@AllThingsOnePlace The only thing I love in Sharkgeek is their Display ---- it gives everything happening inside cell, the life cycle etc
The Downside is The Cost of the Power bank 🙈🙈🙈

Yeah, it is too much money for what you get.
baseus has a 140w power bank, wonder if your gonna test that one out.
I have the 140W power station to check out at some point. Not sure when yet.
How do I get the bypass charging to work? Mine isn't working. I had it for a month and I never tried to use the bypass charging until today.
hmm, mine just worked out of the box. I am not sure if there is a specific setting in the menu.
Hi
Please tell the best one 20w and one 30w charger for iphone 13 pro max.Means total 2 chargers.
Thank you
The 20w I still point at the ugreen charger. For 30w I like the google charger or the anker nano iii.
Thank You very much sir
❤
P.S :
I'm aware about the existence of MDP-P906 Mini Digital Programmable Adjustable Linear Laboratory Power, but unfortunately this solution is very expensive for my pocket,so for this reason i need to find something else, but with the same capabilities of MDP-P906.
I would just get a PD trigger with adjustable PPS if you want to use USB. Switching lab power supplies are fairly inexpensive now though so you can probably get something for less with a current and voltage limit as well as display that will be much more functional.

hi, friend . Could you tell me how the Anker 737 performs after a year or 6 months of use.
The 737 power bank still works great. It also holds a charge well.
Are you going to review the Shargeek 170?
Eventually, I'll look at it. Anyway, it looks like it's got lots of watts, less battery, and will probably be an overheating mess while being overpriced.
hi thx for the review !! but can u tell me why my storm 2 taking power from my laptop instead of giving it ?? or to be more specific i used to charge my laptop with it used to work but now not anymore :( the output used to charge but now not anymore it does only charge the mobile

Shargeek 170 from Sharge. Please review and test. I'm convinced I've been duped by this company.
Yeah, it's here, and yeah, that's probably true.
Are you goona review the shargeek 170 soon?
Soon, no. Eventually, yes.
@@AllThingsOnePlace ahhh okay. Im stuck between the shargeek 170 vs anker prime 250w.
so I have this power bank but the output is only about 20-25 w at best using the supplied cable (and any other) on USB C1...is there something I may need to do to fix that?
The device is usually the decision maker on how much power to use. These power banks do have a menu system though so maybe a setting?
This looks soooo good, though...
haha
Is the DC port center - or + ?
For the sanity of humanity I hope it’s center positive but I have actually got no idea.
You should do the new 24000mah Baseues 140W Charger!
I have it here.
Can you review the Nimble 10,000 mah power bank? It’s very compact and simple but great design. Would love a review

How long do portable chargers this brand last?
Not sure, it is a relatively new brand, and now rebranded, Sharge.
Can you test the Anker 240W desktop charger?
haha, yeah when the Anker break is over. Too many Anker videos...
I'd be interested to see how the Oneplus or Oppo chargers fair.
That is one topic I haven't covered yet except basically saying that I have no way of testing them.
@AllThingsOnePlace Oh my apologies... may I ask why it isn't possible?
So what would you recommend to charge MBP14 M3Pro and iPhone 13 Pro?
Ohhh, awesome, I've been wondering about Sharkgeek ever since I saw MKBHD mention it a while ago. 🧐
Yeah, it's average.

Very nice review. Any chance you plan to review the new Shargeek 170?
Yeah, it’s on the list. I don’t expect much.
Can you make the top 10 power banks in the 100W to 250W output at this point I think I’m spending too much money on the wrong stuff😢
Yeah, I am going to do a video in a few weeks summarizing things.
Anyone know the polarity of the DC port?
It's just another example of find something else, when they can't describe their own product in detail. It's center positive.

I want to be your distributor how much is the order price
no
I agree with you, I think the only great think about this power bank, is that it uses top shelf Samsung Japanese cell's, and that it uses a cool transparent case.
Test Omnicharge powerbank please.
yeah it's on the list.

They say power delivery on two of the ports so I would expect it to work. It won't be more than 100 watts though so don't expect full performance from the laptop. Also, the power bank will overheat and shutdown before it delivers all of it's energy to the laptop if you are running full tilt.
