    This is like when they made the first of the Michael Bay Transformers movies. They approached Ford about using the Mustang and Ford was originally onboard. Then Ford learned that the Mustang would be a bad guy while all of the good guys were GM products and completely backed out.
    Now, a "Mustang" did technically appear in the movie, but that's only because the producers then approached Saleen. The Saleen S-281 was built under license using a Mustang body, but it is legally considered a separate model produced by a separate company. Saleen saw the opportunity to have their car do cool shit in a blockbuster movie and basically said "Please, go ahead!"

      By the way, it's not because people think Corona beer is just a canister of Corona virus, it's just negative associations. If you had a kind of snack for sale in the 70s called AIDs, you could expect to take a hit in sales in the 80s. Not because people literally think it's where the epidemic is coming from, just because you start to associate the name with bad things.

    • @SafetySheepRnD
      @SafetySheepRnD 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Olson De Asis I’m not a lawyer but I believe that the terms and conditions are mainly used to outline the company’s ability to change or terminate your use of their products and services, as well as how they may execute that right. So for example, they can say you can not modify your device firmware and that breaking that rule will get you banned from iCloud (might not be a real example, just for explanation), they are basically telling you they reserve the right to kill your iCloud account if you break the rule at any time. That being said, if you don’t agree to the terms (you feel they are too restrictive or whatever), you are absolutely free to simply stop using the product at any time. Disagreeing, however does not exempt you from the terms and conditions. They’re telling you what they will do and how, not asking you for permission.

      @@SafetySheepRnD I seem to recall reading something about how in the EU, contracts/agreements like this, where you are only made aware of them after you purchase, are completely unenforceable because it's something we are made aware of only after your purchase. It may even meet the definition of coercion since your ability to use the full functionality of the device is predicated on you agreeing.

    • @SafetySheepRnD
      @SafetySheepRnD 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Zeldagigafan hmm I’m not familiar at all with EU legal stuff but Apple does have the full terms and conditions on their website, so I’m not sure if that would allow them to still have a case against you. In the case talked about in the video, it might fall under copyright and trademark law not end user licensing law, and I don’t think you need to be made aware of the terms in those types of cases. So I’m not sure where this one lies. You might be right tho.

      @@SafetySheepRnD Trademarks are about branding, yes, but not in the "you need permission to use these in a commercial setting" type of thing. All it does is prevent me from using something affiliated with a particular brand for a similar product. Apple licenses you the OS. You can do whatever you want with the device. If you break its ToU/S, you are at risk to losing the license to your operating system. By agreeing you are contractually obligated to abide to the rules. Which is why in some cases it could be used in legal ramifications if someone of value is delinquent on the terms they agreed to.

    JJ Abrams ruined Star Wars with episode 9 more than Ryan did with Episode 8 because JJ didn't take risks, he did what was safe, and any risks he took were backpeddled within the same movie.
    Ryan took risks and made an interesting movie that we can have a conversation around, there's nothing interesting in episode 9 worth talking about that isn't a negative context.

    • @evanthehunter
      @evanthehunter 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Disagree, it was impossible to follow up Episode 8, all of the plot threads started in 7 were abruptly ended. Sure it "took risks", but none of the choices made progressed a story or heightened stakes which is what the second film in a Trilogy is supposed to do.
      I didn't like TROS, but I really think it was Episode 8's fault. JJ had to craft a new villian, setup new stakes, and resolve it all within one movie.

    • @ThatOneDudeWhoPostsStuff
      @ThatOneDudeWhoPostsStuff 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@evanthehunter
      Those are valid complaints, but JJ didn't NEED to bring back Palpatine, he could have just made Kylo the main and only villain. It would have been great to see Kylo without the leash of Hux or Smoke tying him down fight against Rey.
      Honestly the best part of the new trilogy is seeing their conflict, they're both so close yet so far from going to the opposite sides.

    • @evanthehunter
      @evanthehunter 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ThatOneDudeWhoPostsStuff Not sure if 100% confirmed but bringing back Palpy was Kathleen Kennedy's idea. I agree, there was more interesting things that "could" have been done with TROS but they would have most likely have been just as lack luster as what we got. There wasn't anything to be excited for after Episode 8, I highly doubt RJ could even make a sequel to it.

    • @fastenedcarrot9570
      @fastenedcarrot9570 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be fair JJ also make TFA, which basically returned the Star Wars universe back to where it was(ish) in episode 4. He also devalued his own villain (Kylo) by having him loose to a n00b. Then Rhian messed it up more, then JJ somehow made that even worse but also more entertaining than TLJ.

    • @evanthehunter
      @evanthehunter 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fastenedcarrot9570 I don't like all 3, but TFA was at least passable, if the second film in the trilogy was at least good and built upon the story/raised stakes it would have made TFA better imo. It's TLJ that makes TFA a worst movie. If TFA did one thing right it was leave us on a good cliffhanger to get us excited for the next movie. TLJ does none of that, I think it is arguably the worst 2nd film in a trilogy in cinema history.

    A Law Person's perspective: This is not a grey area. Apple's logo is a trademark and its use can only be restricted to the extent permitted by trademark law. The context of a review is not one of those restricted areas in most jurisdictions. So it can be reviewed freely. But there can be a prohibition on using it in movies because those are not reviews. Even there however, the logo can still be used as long as it doesn't demonstrate an "endorsement" or a "connection with the brand" or is "trying to play on the goodwill" of the product. No contract (which is what the terms of service are) can modify a law of Congress, it must comply with them so it won't be enforceable in a court if it goes against that law.
