    To all those who question these switches being "like" Kailh Choc: Logitech openly works with Kailhua to develop this slightly altered Choc switch, it's not a secret. These are literally Kailh's switches, there is no plagiarism going on.

    • @XCAL1BR0
      @XCAL1BR0 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@87detto I don't. I learned the little I know when I was picking a keyboard for myself, and ended up buying Steelseries Apex Pro (Omnipoint switches) shortly after. Didn't follow up on any keyboards after it, I'm fully satisfied with what I got.
      What turned me off from this one was combination of price and low quality keycaps: Cyrillic engravings for these keycaps do not allow light to pass, they break easily and that they're not customizable, so you get one set for the keyboard's lifetime.

    I chose the Brown/Tactile as my Blue switches in my old keyboard were far too loud when playing and when typing during zoom calls. I don’t regret my choice AT ALL. I think they should so sturdy and phenomenal.
    The only time the get loud is when I slightly tap my keys when trying to figure out what exactly I want to type in an email or a message. They keycaps do wobble a bit and take some getting used to IMO, and it’s louder than actually pressing down the keys but not too loud either.
    I got the TKL version and I’m very happy. Looks sleek, stealthy, and professional when needed. And gamer by just turning on the RGBs

  • @enderdragoon
    @enderdragoon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I used this guide to sort out what flavor of G815 to get. The audio of typing really helped cement the choice for me. I got the Linear version and absolutely love it. I'm often around other people in my home office and work while on the phone. A quieter keyboard was important to me, if I'm intentional with it I can make the typing experience nearly mute by just not leaning into the keys more. What I was looking for, and what Logitech exceeded all my expectations in, was a pseudo mechanical experience, shallower throw travel, less snap than most of the Cherry keys Ive experienced (detent), quiet, shallow overall height of the keyboard and frameless so its actually possible to clean this thing (hint, get a beard trimming brush or small paint brush). My hands love the keys though, took maybe 1-2 days to get accustomed to it and there's no going back for me now, everything else feels like attempting to precision cut a cinder block with a tree branch while balancing on a water bed. Logitech outdid themselves with the G815, this is an extraordinary piece of hardware.

    This is the best video as far as info on the g915 goes imo. Wanted to add my 2 cents though about the tactile version.
    I've tried all 3 of them. Most experience with the tactile and linear versions as the clicky was way too loud for me from the display version I tried.
    Overall I wanted to go with the tactile version, but the issue with the tactile version that I had (and later found out was a common complaint with Kailh choc brown switches) is switch consistency. What I mean by this is that some keys feel and sound different than the others. For example some of the G Keys had a very noticable difference in their tactile feel and audible click compared to the other keys on the keyboard. A majority of the letter keys pretty much felt like scratchy linears (very little tactile feedback) compared to the solid feel the G keys had (note that these keys are the same size/shape as each other).
    There is a possibility that I just had a bad tactile keyboard(someone on newegg ended up having the exact same complaint as me), but I would say if you can deal with the noise, I'd get the clicky for the tactile feel, or linears if silence is a must. Also all 3 versions seem to have a key or 2 where one of the stabilizers is weaker than the other its paired with.

      Even cherry keys seem to have this issue... The high demand have consistently lowered the quality since the first boards, not that they were ever that great when asking keyboard fanatics anyhow.. But since low profile is so new, im gonna roll with the whites and call it a day.. Got headphones on when I play anyway, and my studio mic can easily be tweaked so my friends won't get too annoyed..

      Trying to bump this comment. The sound in these videos is way overblown. I got a G815 a few days back and I went with the tactile version because the clicky one seemed insane in these comparisons. Tactile already sounded way loud in these videos, but in person the tactile version sounds almost like a regular keyboard so if I could go back and choose again, I'd get the clicky. Coming from a Razer Huntsman, the volume on the tactile is almost non-existant.

    Got a G915 TKL with the brown ones and will send it back. The 'tactile' feel is annoyingly wobbly and inconsistent. Since the caps aren't fixed with a stem, they have a little play to the sides. Because of that, you barely feel a 'bump' when hitting a key in the center and way more when you hit it off center and angle the cap a little. I was hoping for a nice pronounced edge but it just feels like the keys wobble and scratch their way down the first half of the way until they pass the 'bump' (also sounds like that). On top of that the caps feel fragile and cheap. Gateron optical low profile switches felt way better to me but unfortunately I can't find a low latency wireless keyboard with them.

      @DaanishNordin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Brewer_ Linear user here. just got it yesterday and so far i like that the keystroke is really just a single, smooth consistent action. i can't pinpoint if there is a mushy feeling to it, but it does feel crisp / very light to the touch (?) all the way till you bottom out - that's what i can best describe it as. what i may not like so far (or maybe haven't gotten fully used to) is that it's got very little to no tactile feedback when you bottom out.
      trying hard to imagine how the tactile one would feel with the mushiness you described, videos just can't seem to demonstrate it well enough xD

    Good review. My only concern is whether or not this keyboard is durable in the long run. I had purchased the Steelseries MX800 which is basically the best keyboard I've ever had. The QS1 switches are low profile similar to this one, noise is extremely low, fluid typing/gaming. Truly the best switch ever. But, the durability was absolutely non-existant. Early 1st-2nd year I fixed some of the keys myself, now 4-5 years later some keys either double trigger or need to be pressed harder. Key caps are falling apart and for a few keys have come off, I glued them back on. I spent $300 on that keyboard just for the amazing QS1 switch but expected better durability.
    If this G815 doesn't end up being durable it will feel like a waste of money the second time around.

    i cant decide which keys i want to use, why not just buy both clicky and brown? I would never go for linear cause i can hear that mushy sound from membrane keyboards! Yikes

      @@0hkie But you can't find white keycaps for these GL swithces. Replacing them with a standard Kailh PG1350 choc switch would make that possible. These black on black keycaps are a pain.
