Thanks for this one. My 08 Ram's hood and front roof area looks just like the Blue Bomber. It's been an outside truck since the day I brought it home from the dealership.

A really good DIY project and the right thing for an older car. I used the same 2K clearcoat when I restored the hood and roof paint on an old Saab that was great mechanically but had peeling clearcoat. If you are trying this be realistic and not too perfectionist about the results. 4 years later the paintwork is still looking pretty good. It’s a good idea to sand down the orange peel with some really fine wet and dry sand paper and use compound.
If you can do the job indoors it will be so much better.

That's the difference between chalk and cheese 👍 Figured it would be a big improvement, and it's definitely going to up the resale value by more than you spent on the spray can.
Just wanted to say that the cement bag borders on the drive look pretty good. Wouldn't have guessed that's what they were if you hadn't shown us.

Looks better than I thought it would! Nice job there. I have a maroon roof worse than that and was thinking of applying vinyl to cover it up but I will give your method a try. I can always cover it up to hide it if it looks worse! Harsh sun and 20 years of exposure is a bad mix. Thanks for the video.

Thanks, this is what I need but I got some paint peeled so I need to spot paint before clear coating. I thought I needed all these different grit sandpaper and sander and this is the easiest for a beater car where the hood looked horrible. The car runs great and I really like my old yukon XL but now I'll be happy - I just scour pad scrubbed it and was amazed how much better it looks. The paint is coming off so I'm debating about spray painting it with rustoleum like others have done as the paint match maybe more then I want to spend. I hope you have a video on how you buff out the orange peel. I'll keep my nearly purchased harbor freight round sander to do that part.

So I’ve had a mobile bodyshop guy come out and do a repair. He did half my hood and the clear is still there after 4 years. He did my trunklid too but that’s showing signs of acid rain looking spots of failure. I’ve been using spray waxes and probably ought to wash and wax more. It’s been 3 solid months since I’ve done a full 2 bucket wash and spray wax

With all that time and effort spent, I would’ve took it down to a reasonably cheap autobody shop and just have the whole vehicle repainted for a few hundred dollars. Show up there with two vehicles take the headlights out grill and let them paint the whole thing. Back in the day, Earl used to have $300 full paint specials including primer.
