Dunno why, but I prefer these at-home in your own garage paints more than the ones in the big booths with the complex gear. I guess its because I'm more of a DIY guy and seeing this kind of stuff helps me see it from how a professional painter would "attack" a project like this and how they think about it, versus how I would think about it.
It came out better than a "professional" job on a vehicle that my insurance covered. The body shop left me with orange peel texture on the paint & took 2 months to get it back to me.
I never really knew much about auto body work i always saw it as a really difficult project that the average joe in his garage could not achieve like a professional paint shop but these videos give me a bit of confidence and makes me want to try it out myself also really satisfying to watch

You can't say 'at-home' is better than big booths lol , thats just too immature. When you paint at home, your whole house inside is exposed to the paint dusts as well. If you smell the paint spray, you breath it.

just did this on my 2007 Acura TL Type-S in Kinetic Blue pearl. My rear bumpers clear coat was so shot. Looks brand new! Paint Scratch got a perfect color match
I recency did our outdoor patio furniture was so surprised it came out so well. Love spray painting have been doing for years but the new products are the best, less problems then the older sprays. .
I had a crushed wing panel, quoted £300 minimum to get it replaced. Got my own panel for £60 and lets say about £60 on paint, primer, lacquer, tac cloths, sanding pads and rubbing compound. I won't include all the tools haha I had to get a torque wrench, socket set and ratchet, spanners. But those things I needed anyway and will be used for all sorts of things in the future. All sorted, looks great and I learned a lot about the process. It did take a bit of time though. One thing I would recommend to anyone is when sanding, use a sanding sponge as it's more flexible and soft, not the paper which is tougher and has pressure spots. Also, don't give up, learn as you go and adapt what you do.
This is exactly the video I needed! The cab of my S10 is 50% peeling clearcoat. I'm happy to see a DIY process that could make it more presentable! Fantastic job as always!
I might be a girl, but after watching some of your videos, I KNOW I can do this! I'm excited to take on this on my car with just a few areas of needed repair to preserve. Thank you so much!

IDC what anybody says, being able to paint a car with rattle cans and have a gr8 finish like this takes talent. I've seen some untalented jobs that u can just tell they didn't do prep work at all. Just scuff and spray. I get its not a new or million dollar car but we can do a decent job no matter what. Thanks man. Gr8 job
Brian that car looks so good and it’s just the sort of job I would tackle for my kids and their family cars. I’ve been doing little repair jobs on family cars for 40 years now but I’ve learnt so much more in the last few years following you! Thank you buddy!
At some point, I am going to do this in my car ( Chevrolet Traverse 2015). Lately, I started noticing osmotic blistering gradually began to form on the hood paint. May God bless you ! This will definitely save me so much money if I apply these skills.
I bought a brand new e60 m5 bumper, needed to get it painted but that just would cost me 380-450€ if I gave it to a friend of mine. So decided to get my paint mixed by my reg number and watched some of your videos. Results came out fantastic. I’ve never done it before and I’ve already managed to even earn money thanks to yours videos man! I Really appreciate what you do for the community. Great content with a proper explanation!
Dude I did 2 years learning panel beating in college. They do not include painting in UK in these courses it's one or the other. Your videos are insanely good very detailed if lecturers could teach only half as good as you do on here there would be much better techs out there. One video I would love to see is painting outdoors a lot of people myself included don't have a unit or a garage big enough to paint in. So it comes down to picking your day carefully or using pop up shelter. Great video dude
This is also my problem , not having a garage or anywhere to Mimic a “paint booth”. My only option is doing it on a day when there’s hardly any wind. Lol.
I have a black colour Chrysler/Dodge Neon 2005 2.0L with a similar problem! Though, i just cannot find "Perfect Match" spray cans here in Cape Town, unfortunately. But after having watch your videos, I am now motivated and/or confident i can do this too with any quality spray paints i can get around. "Don't overthink it, it's just paint!"
Fantastic results as always from you Brian. You explain everything so well with your knowledgeable experience. Only through your expert advice was I prepared to even consider attempting to respraying parts of my car with metallic paint, covering previous owners respraying shrinkage marks. I’m well pleased with my results now. Thanks a million!
I just finished the roof and trunk lid of a 2002 Honda Civic using your method and it went smoothly, although the metallic silver paint came out a little streaky. Since this was my first attempt at automotive painting, I am very happy with the over all finished product compared to how it looked prior. I used Spray Max 1K base and 2k Clear coat to achieve 3 coats of each, waiting the prescribed times for each coat to flash, but somehow ended up with some streaks in the base coat, so If anyone has an idea what I did wrong that may have caused the streaks, please let me know. All that's left is to wet sand the orange peel and polish it after the clear cures. I watched numerous TH-cam videos and this Paint Society tutorial was by far, the best. Thanks for posting it.
Brian; I do not commit very often but you are very impressive. I try to stop video and write down needed information (paint, sand paper to use) an 1:02 second was said WoW a lot of notes and then you compiled it all at the end of the video. After watching you makes me feel I could paint a whole Chev S 10, out of a spray can.
Thank you for making these videos. Ive been able to make my cheap honda civic look so much better on a tight budget and boosted my confidence doing body work
After following your videos on spray cans I fixed up the back of my classic mini..I must say I am extremely happy with the result..no orange peel and a great shine....makes me want to do the rest of the car....who says you can't get a good job with spray cans...
I recently picked up a 2002 WRX as a daily beater car. The roof is entirely clearcoat peeled and there are some dings and dents. While I'd love to clean up the car professionally, there's so much deferred maintenance that it doesn't make financial sense to dump money into a professional body/paint job. Absolutely enjoy these videos and going to take on fixing some of the imperfections yself.

Dude can't help but do a pro job, even with spray cans. Says we just need to get some color on it, then makes it look straight perfect. Great video! I learned a lot.
Can I ask a question? You mentioned that you didn't want to spray over the areas that still had good paint, and I noticed you kept true to that with the primer. It was a little harder to see with the base coat footage. Did you end up spraying the entire panel with the base coat, or did you leave some spots untouched? Same question for the clear…
Excellent video on how to not over think it…😎. I on the other hand am afraid of starting something that won’t come out as good but I’m pretty sure it will look much better than my old ugly faded paint on my 1994 red mustang. The main reason I don’t drive it is how it looks. I feel comfortable stepping up to paint it myself, thanks and keep the videos coming. You have a great way of teaching, short and direct.
That's honestly such a close colour match! I almost can't believe that wasn't blended! With a cut and polish on the rest of the car (maybe a flowcoat on the rear bumpter) that civic can look brand new
love these videos! Using your techniques just did my 2014 Porsche bumper cover in Guards Red (easy solid color) bumper with 3 cans of base and 3 cans of 2k clear, looks perfect. Granted I already own a rotary buffer, DA polisher, and years of 3M sandpaper. Doesn't have to be a beater to use these techniques.
Thank you for creating and posting the video. Im a female learning to detail interiors and exterior the car plus fix the peeling paint on my car on my own. I dont feel like paying 100s just to get my car painted. Im so dam excited. 😂😂🎉 Subscribed and like.
This is so far the best rattle can lowdowns I've seen. Thanks much! 2 question topics for you and/or anyone with an opinion reading this: 1. I'm painting a small car (currently dark green) via rattle cans, because I'm cheap that way and proud of it! 😆 If I'm using the same brand (and paint type) of primer and color coat (in my case it's Rust-Oleum semi-gloss black paint+Primer 2X, and gloss Hammered Black), is it better to allow the primer to dry for 24 hours, sand/clean, and then spray the 3 color coats? Or, is it better to spray the 2 coats primer, let it dry for 30 to 45 minutes, and then start the 3 color coats? What's best for bonding and/or drying of all layers so it doesnt take too long to evaporate VOCs and dry? I'm planning to let the car sit in an open carport for 3 full days (to dry) before driving again. We have about 20% humidity at most, and 75F degree temperature days at present. 2. Since 2018, in Colorado USA, I've noticed spray paint in hardware stores has increased price 100% (at minimum), when it's in stock at all. Is it the same for you? How about the professional brands and paints for booth use? Do you think the stores are keeping this profit, or the manufacturers, or the oil industry? Or maybe they're all so comfortable together in business it's like one big entity? 😆 Fuel is 150% higher than 2 years ago, for us in Colorado, so I'm personally interested how all things made of oil, or supported by oil-based transportation (diesel trucking), prices' are affected in the global economies. Thanks much!
Thank you thank you thank you! Great info! I bought an e36 bmw that’s in pretty good shape but the clear coat is peeling and I’ve got some rust in a few spots. I’m gonna go for some paint repair using what I’m learning in your videos.
Back in the day, the clear was all the way thru the paint. So you could bring it back. Remember car washes that were not touchless? They would remove oxidation and kinda renew the paint. Then came the invention of base/clear followed by fading/peeling/ failing Clear. Everyone says its superior now, but is it really? Some of the guys who painted back in the day don't think so. I'm doing a little experiment at home. Acrylic enamel single stage followed up with acrylic enamel clear to compare. I've sprayed single stage and like the way it looks on older cars. Enjoy your videos👍especially ones pertaining to painting at home since most of us have no paintbooth, shop, or other amenities.
Please make a video for beginners who plan to paint their cars in their garage one or two times with lower budget materials and equipment. For example, how to manage painting a whole car with a smaller compressor (8-21 gallons), using a LVLP gun, sanding materials and etc that are affordable and maybe could be bought locally or at a big box store. This is more realistic for those who have nothing and will go out to buy things to paint their cars once or a couple times only without a big investement. I appreciate the videos but some of them for example using a cheap gun but the compressor used is professional or beginners guide video but done at a painting booth using a pro gun or painting at home garage but using a dedicated expensive turbine paint sprayer ($1400+). Just an idea but your videos are very helpful. Thanks!
Years ago I got made fun of, painting my car one panel at a time with spray cans. After about the third panel it started to look like something. Its amazing how much a little bit of shinny paint will change the personality of a rig.
I tried my best. Had lots of areas where my paint flew off my Hyundai in sheets. No matter what I did, I couldn't get rid of the chip line where the flake meets car paint. I'm female and short. I did everything, sand in between... can you believe that when I lifted a piece of the tape, a big piece of paint came off in another area attached to the painters tape. Unbelievable. I'm going to finish with poly. This whole ordeal really stinks that Hyundai doesn't back this. I just pray that it doesn't rust. Well, back at it! 👍 I'm just grateful to God that in my late 60s, I can still do this crazy stuff. I don't have 7k lying around! Sorry for whining, but these last 2 days have been a nightmare.
Thank you so much to show us your talent and technique to paint a cars special with rattle cans for DIY. As a newbie for painting a cars such a bit scary to be mistake. But now got a confidence to do it.. And just like you said " don't over think it, it's just a paint" thank you 😊

Great video!! I have a 18 yr old Honda Civic that is in great condition mechanically and is a great daily driver, but the paint is in horrific condition, this video might give me the motivation to improve it and keep me from spending money on a new car lol
I've used both the 2k clear and the Eagle "no clog" abrasives. Those are both excellent, above the fray products. He shows in the video how you just brush out the full sandpaper with a plastic bristle brush. Looks fake, actually works exactly like this. Used the 2k clear on my headlights and it rocks. Excellent results. Thanks Brian - you are great at what you do.
WOW what a difference with just rattle cans. Been watching a number of your video's in prep for doing some paint & clear touch ups on my daughters red Alfa Mito. Keep up the good work. subbed from England :-)
Rollas! I've been driving a '68 for about 34 years now. Needs a lot of "pretty" work, missing a few things. It's been an awesome little car/micro hot rod/trail runner, racing atv's through the woods, powerline roads, road trips, it can haul a trailer...hell I even drug a broke down roll-back wrecker across a parking lot one day. Hauled a long wheel base full sized Chevy truck on a homemade trailer about 75 miles (that was fun, and by fun I mean scary as hell, weighed 3 times more than the car). It's all 60'd out right now, flat black, fat 4 spoke Crager's on back, skinny stock on front, traction bars. Everything aluminum on the engine is polished except the head, polished brass radiator top. It's like, oh look at that worn out old car...but when you open the hood you hear angels singing.

The main reason I don’t drive it is how it looks. I feel comfortable stepping up to paint it myself, thanks and keep the videos coming. You have a great way of teaching, short and direct.
That vehicle looks damn good! I just have a 4” x 4” peel on my 2013 Focus. I’ll use MOST of your instructions
I thought it came out just fine without the buffing job.
Great job from a spray can .
Your wisdom and experience is very educational & useful thanks for keeping it simple
I just bought paint scratch products to repaint my engine bay. Glad to see y'all using them
I gotta learn this guys way, the way it comes out is like new you would never know the difference..
Brother hands down the most best can spray job i have ever seen job well done 👌👍👏👏👏👏👏🙏💜☮️🕊️🕯️🌟✨
Amazing that this was all done from spray cans, on a black car as well. Good job.
Amazing results from a can, prep work is everything.
Got the same problem with my car clear is peeling off.Now it's time to sort things out.Thx Brian amazing job again!
I use that same 2k clear and it goes in so good i’ve never have to sand, buff, polish, etc…

2 question topics for you and/or anyone with an opinion reading this:
Fuel is 150% higher than 2 years ago, for us in Colorado, so I'm personally interested how all things made of oil, or supported by oil-based transportation (diesel trucking), prices' are affected in the global economies. Thanks much!
You explanined everything so well. Gave me the confidence to try it because its doable. Thank You
You’re welcome 😊
Amazing skill . for the car more than 10 years , worth to try this method . looking at the result , I think you might prepare to paint the whole car .
Thank you thank you thank you! Great info! I bought an e36 bmw that’s in pretty good shape but the clear coat is peeling and I’ve got some rust in a few spots. I’m gonna go for some paint repair using what I’m learning in your videos.
Thanks for dropping all of the paint knowledge. Greatly appreciated
Respect I'm high and idk how I need uo here but your voice is very pleasant and you teaching me 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
learned a lot from you sir...thank you so much...watching from philippines...
Back in the day, the clear was all the way thru the paint. So you could bring it back. Remember car washes that were not touchless? They would remove oxidation and kinda renew the paint. Then came the invention of base/clear followed by fading/peeling/ failing
Clear.
Awesome! Now you totally have to buff the rest of the car to match that new paint shine!. Great problem to have!
Paintwork is not easy to get it right and you make it look so easy. Thanks for all the tips and tricks for us layman.
Incredible how it came out just using spay cans.... 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks brotha!!!
When's that back window tint getting sorted out? Awesome work loving the progress
Lol was thinking the same great paint/repiar job and that's the only thing taking away from it looking super clean.
Thanks!
Oh my goodness,
I have found you and I would totally ask you to do the same thing to my Cherokee, amazing work :)
Great job Brian. Your videos motivate me to do it myself👌
Good job Man !
Helping the working class !
I'm about to do this to an Infinity G35 Coupe. Thanks for the great video
Thank you so much.I am a guy that can do almost anything BUT paint.Maybe now i can.
Update,i did try to do my own quarter panel paint job..not good..be sure to use compatible products.
4:06 "...and you hands are you best friend" *sobbs* Yeah, I know 8(
Thank you so much to show us your talent and technique to paint a cars special with rattle cans for DIY. As a newbie for painting a cars such a bit scary to be mistake. But now got a confidence to do it.. And just like you said " don't over think it, it's just a paint" thank you 😊
Great video Brian! I'm impressed with how well the clear laid down out of an Aerosol can.
I think are some of the best videos on the internet for DIYers.
My 98 chevy pickup is peeling down to primer. How would I repair that to a decent level with a spray can?
Great video!! I have a 18 yr old Honda Civic that is in great condition mechanically and is a great daily driver, but the paint is in horrific condition, this video might give me the motivation to improve it and keep me from spending money on a new car lol
@@Val-ee4hd damn only 77,000 on an ‘04 that’s cherry, good luck on the paint repair!!
Mate you rock - this is one of my fav channels
Enjoy watching DIY at home. Keep these videos coming! Even explaining everything is key! Rite on !!!😊😊
I've used both the 2k clear and the Eagle "no clog" abrasives.
Videos just keep getting better. Love this series 👍
Wow awesome job bro with spray can I learned something new today thanks for sharing
sick work, I just picked up an 04 40th anniversay mustang that has some decent UV damage, and look forward to restoring it. definately gonna take some of these tricks into the project,
Just finish painting a complete black 2019 f250 and love csi
