Since 2001, Nico Sabbadin has been building custom pedals, one at a time, in Argentina for guitarists from the likes of John Mayer, Jimmy Rip and Tyrone Vaughan. Although his Funky-Vibe has existed in some form since 2004, Nico has taken this classic recreation to the next level, taking cues from the earliest production model, the Honey Uni-Vibe. After many prototypes and tracking down the correct Matsushita transistors, photocells, capacitors and even NOS bulbs to recreate the exact waveform of this legendary effect, the Funky-Vibe oozes serious mojo. Like the original, the Chorus/Vibrato rocker switch selects between classic Hendrix swirl or subtle pitch modulation. Plus, you can choose true bypass switching or cancel, which goes back to the original footswitch that turned off the bulb but still kept your guitar running through the preamp. A custom footswitch can be ordered to control the speed of the vibe or you can follow the simple diagram provided to roll your own. Best of all, the Funky-Vibe runs on the correct 24 Vac ~ 200mA for proper vintage tone and the internal transformer will be matched to the country ordered in.

I have an outstanding original 1968 and this sounds very very close! It is the subtle things that make or break the clones. I've had most, or many, including deja vibes, drybell, effectrode, vibe unit, 60's Vibe, and many more less well known ones. Some people may like one vibe or another for one reason or another, but unless you have a really great original to A/B it against it's hard for people to know which ones are the closest to an original. The oldies handle a boost or fuzz into the front and they don't get small or overly bright. They are strong and uniform thru the frequency spectrum. The pulse or throb shape is critical and depends on the bulb and photocell's,.... how the voltage rises and falls. Some are to round and even or the throb is too pronounced. It should have an elliptical shape and be strong but not to the point of popping or thumping too loud.

Andy, I’d like to know how you get the pedal dead silent when you turn it on. I have a Moon Vibe and there is always the throb sound when you engage it.
Andy that dive bomb 💣 and explosion 💥 Hendrix BOG sound effect was incredible and really spot on. was the dive bomb an open G or B string? I know you have your secrets but I’ve been after that dive bomb tone since 2003 and it was exciting to hear someone besides Hendrix finally achieve that tone! Thanks Andy and I heard a ton of awesome

24v AC ... slam dunk! I never heard a great Vibe running on DC, let alone at 9v ... can't be done IMHO.
MojoVibe is a great univibe that is 9v dc but has a built in circuit that boosts it to 18v ,,,,i'm not saying its better than these high end univibes but it sure gives a damn good BOG univibe effect.

It is superior. Sabbadius does his homework and gets it right! A proper vibe must use AC, a puny 9vDC will not do the job.

A couple day some guy mocked me because I said this pedal was the real vibe and not a deja vibe 3 you know the fulltone wich is a spectacular vibe by the way jajjajaja and said I didn’t know sh@t about vibes and that robin trower was better than me and that I wasn’t sh@t jajajjaja When I didn’t even brought him into conversation jajajaj the funky vibe blows even a Nuvibe and a deja vibe and ultra vibe from sweetsound wich was my a1 but I think I’m getting a funky and that’s just by demos 👀

@@TheRealcdawg22They are slightly different tonally as well. The Sabbadius website breaks down their differences. I went with the Tiny '68 and I love it.

Jason Guion should be. They have a Tribute Legacy but it's a lower end model from G&L. Small shop in Fullerton Ca if you're in SoCal they love people to swing on by.
David Andrade thank you. I remember I saw him play this guitar and I think I was unable to find it with the matching headstock, something like that. I kind of forgot about it until I saw this video. I would really like to try one, as it’s a Leo guitar from after he sold the company, you know? I have not had a chance to try one. I live in FL so I sadly can’t go to visit them. Vibe sweet spots are usually about 75%, there’s lot of that in the demo thanks!
