    Thank you. I am now convinced I need nothing more than a Deluxe Reverb, a Tube Screamer and whichever guitar I plan to plug into that combo. Not a 4x12 Marshall that's louder than hell; not a 30-Watt Vox that's as heavy as sin; and not a boutique pedal that costs more than a guitar & amp combined.

    What I've learned from these videos is that I greatly prefer a 335 to pretty much anything else.

    • @alexdawson4424
      @alexdawson4424 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 339 is a beast as well! Sounds to my ears almost exactly the same as the 335 but its sized more like a LP. I love mine and find it far more playable as an everyday.
      I know this vid is like 3 years old but I had to share how much I love the 339 haha

      Brian Kingsley I found that I particularly love the ES guitars made by Gibson. 330, 335, 339, 345, 355. And a few others. They are wonderful guitars that just scream TONE!

    The sound quality on these vids is so good, I learned as much about the different sounds of classic guitars and amps as I did the pedals. I have been playing for 2 years through a Deluxe Reverb. It was great to hear the side-by-side Vox, and Marshall tones with Fender amp. These are great videos for the new player trying to choose a guitar and amp.

      Strat>Muff>Power Booster>Laney VC30 (Celestion, not those HH Drivers. Greenbacks,)
      Works for me. (let's just call Muffs & Power Boosters "överdrives" for the sake of argument).
      Or: Tele>TS9>BD-2>Supersonic 22.

    I LOVE the graphics on the Tube Driver, that pedal looks like a 1985 Chevrolet Cavalier station wagon but more than holds its own for a tone or a sound against these more modern heavy hitters. Thank you BK Butler for changing the way we do things in the modern world!!

    I think the Marshall + 808 sounded more like SRV than the Fender did. Perhaps because the Fender Bassman that SRV used was the inspiration of Marshall amps. Great video. When you guys play together, is possible to feel that love is in the air... lol

  • @piedaterre8843

    tube driver is such a good overdrive and can make any 6l6 fendery amp instantly have that classic british crunch (which is why i prefer the american amps as you can add the british overdrive to a fender but you can't add the american clean to a marshall or orange). I have even heard it in front of the OD-averse twin making it sound nice and crunchy. I have the old bumblebee black/yellow tube works but this newer model sounds just as good (i won't be getting it as i am perfectly happy with my older one)

Great vid. What works for me is how the 808 tightens up the big 6L6 lower end of the electradyne and punches out the mids.

  • @rallyslag185
    @rallyslag185 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love your guys videos both on here and that pedal show and I've learnt loads watching them, however, I've discovered that my amps (blues junior in particular) already have a mid 'hump' to them and obviously all of the overdrives you've demonstrated just accentuate that and even the flatter eq pedals such as the blues driver and king of tone still have a slight 'hump'. What boost/medium overdrive pedals can I bring to the party to do the opposite and add more of a scoop/fullness to an already middley amp? A separate video on this would be ideal!

    If you play through a tube amp then every OD demo sounds exactly the same: they are equally subject to many player variables and preference of a moment.
    there is no 'set and forget', you dial it in and find the sweet spot - and THEN go. You do that, or else you fight it - like anything else that isn't how it should be until it is set up.
    it is exactly why i've never liked the preset multi-fx-in-a-box approach, and don't fuss with loop switching devices unless a live set demands to be very tightly rehearsed.

    Although I definitely prefer the Strat, I was really surprised about how good the LP sounded with the TS808.
    I owned a TS-9 and TS808, before settling to a Kalamazoo Lovepedal and a Sparkle Drive from VoodooLab. Sometimes I use a OCD for a brighter tone, and Workingmans Blue Overdrive Pedal for vintage like drive.

    these 2 are the best at explaining whats it all about - on you tube - Mick has his mouth open most the time while Daniel throws the head back at every chance they were both annoying at first but Im use to them now and the quality of their content out weighs the over acting. Well done boys. LOL
