    Finally, a REAL review of the OnePlus 9 Proʼs camera. You honestly did much better than most of the reviews that Iʼve seen since you actually took the time to comprehensively assess this phoneʼs camera capabilities.
    Given that you are also a professional photographer, the camera of this phone was given justice. Yes, it is not perfect-far from it. But it is holding up well for a highly-priced flagship phone by OnePlus. This a *huge* improvement compared to the smartphone cameras that they have made for the past couple of years.
    You earn a like in this video from me for the great take. I subscribed, too.
    Keep on doing these reviews. God bless you, man!

      Thank you so much! Yeah I have been annoyed by the half hearted look at these cameras so the whole purpose was to go deep into it for others like me that wanted to really know what it was capable of. I hope I can keep doing it for future phones. Definitely will continue with other tech and creative gear.

      @@LaplanetArts Let me have a strange, but important question, please:
      Speaking of these very small mobile cameras it seems obvious that they have a fixed aperture (would be quite difficult to build a variable aperture mechanics in such a tiny size). This way you cannot really control the depth of field (at least not in an optical way). When taking portraits, the default f/1.8 aperture size of the main camera seems to be a decent solution, but what about landscapes where one might want to obtain much wider DoF? I might sound a bit weird, but speaking of pro mode it can still be a relevant point.

    • @LaplanetArts
      @LaplanetArts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sure I see what you mean. The main camera sensor that has the pro mode and only has the pro mode as opposed to the ultra-wide lens. Is about 28 mm I believe. Even though it's fixed aperture when focused to infinity it still going to be clear. The ultra-wide which is sort of equivalent to a 14mm I believe is f2. Same thing applies, when focused that infinity it still is sharp for infinity. You won't really be too affected by depth the field. But the ultra-wide lens does not have pro mode yet unfortunately.

    • @LaaszloKiss
      @LaaszloKiss 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LaplanetArts Thanks for the clarification. Really appreciate it. Yes, I also thought that playing with the manual focus and/or tapping to set the focal point might be used as a kind of workaround here. Gonna play around with that surely 😉

    As a very old photographer (Art school in 72) I've always used budget phones because I never trusted photography on a phone. I wanted to buy the Huawei Leica collab phone but by the time I was ready to pull the trigger Huawei had been ejected from the US market. Springing $1,069 + tax is a big chunk of change but I too have noticed more and more the hostility to shooting with my DSLR package in public places. I think this is the one I will carry all the time.
    For 20 years I used to carry an Olympus XA 35mm camera and I shot hundreds of really great pictures with it. I'm excited, the OP 9 Pro will be my new XA.

Luckily I couldn't get the MI 11 because they had no stock. Nearly got the S21 ultra, but the UK version did not have snap dragon. Fate has put me back to the OnePlus 9 pro. Great photographer's review. I agree 100% most of the reviewers just glossed over the camera and said it wasn't that great. But even on the point and shoot modes, you can still see some of that color science at work. Most people wouldn't notice, but photographers who nitpick over Canon vs Nikon vs Sony colors can easily tell the difference. However the one deal breaker is the capture lag that OnePlus still has not fixed. Really frustrating. Keep up the good work!

Just reducing the highlights, oneplus gives such amazing natural looking images, why don't they just reduce the highlights in phones post processing? That's what apple is doind I am sure in lots of certain images from ihpones, highlights are dialled down pretty much and warmth is slightly increased, on iphones.

    Exactly because of what you described, the ability to pack more information about light and contrast than a color sensor, I believe that it is possible to upscale a monochrome sensor's image without big loss or noise. Potentially, they might be using input from the other cameras as well, if you used that sensor in the point&shoot mode where computational photography is to be expected (electrical&computer engineer here).

      It does shoot well out of the box, but any cameras true potential lies in raw. If you're going to take a photo that's important or one you want to get creative with RAW is the way to go. But if you need it quickly the standard point and shoot is still one of the best on the market no doubt. The point of the review was to show it's potential since few have

      Thank you! I would absolutely love to, but I'm a little bit too small of a channel for them to be sending samples to me. I paid for the OnePlus 9 pro out of pocket. But I don't think I can really afford to purchase two other flagship phones on the budget my channel's at currently. I hope with enough time soon I'll start getting samples from the companies.

    Most reviewers prefer the camera from S21Ultra probably from past stereotypical impression of Samsung and OnePlus. I actually liked OnePlus' camera and don't understand why most people says it is the weak point. Samsung on the other hand had amazing camera performance in the past but this time it is a bit disappointing. Though DXO might not be very fair, at least they points out that S21 Ultra is not as good camera phone as most people thought.

    would you say the 4k 60 on the 9 pro is better/more detailed or sharper than the 4k 60 on the 7 pro? I really love how the 7 pro has incredible details on 4k60 and was hoping I wouldn't lose that if I upgraded to the 9 pro

    A late commrnt recarding you recording this video. But, yeah a great, great review. My comment to this would be, the tech reviewers aren't photographers and basically don't have a clue what phorography really is. The thing they do on those "camera comparisons" is comparing how the phones software is processing a jpg image and nothing more. Since the most phones have more or less exact the same linses and sensors and basically from the same shelf ( a Sony xyz something) the cameras can't be technically so much different from each others.

      Hey! Thanks I appreciate it! I suppose it comes down with how much you like iOS. Personally I I'm not a huge fan because of the limitations it has. But they do make some solid devices. I haven't had my hands on the vivo x60 so I can't speak for it. But one advantage to high end android phones is the more custom options in the camera. iOS doesn't give you full control the way my One plus does. And as a photographer I see that as important.

    I wish you could use flash in pro mode. Flash in ultra wide. Also burst in ultrawide. Also having burst in pro would be nice even though you can control the shutter speed. I also wish the shutter speed was faster on the normal camera and ultra wide because when taking a photo of people or anything not on a tripod it's blurred unless using burst which doesn't work on any mode but 1x which isn't wide enough most of the time.

    The monchrome sensor works in the same way it has done in Huawei phones in the past, it adds sharpness to the image. You were close to the truth tho. So the monochrome image you got was captured with the regular sensor and then converted, thats why the size of the image.
