  • It's been over two weeks since I started testing the OnePlus 9 Pro, and it's time to share my honest thoughts about this new flagship phone from OnePlus!

      @@TimVervaet I can have over 100 fps in most games on my PC, but that does not mean that it my screen would represent all of those frames. Maybe you meant some sort of refresh rate counter.

    • @GeekyGamer167
      @GeekyGamer167 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I understand what he was trying to do, however I don't know if the Android frame rate counter would show changes in the display's refresh rate, since the app itself wouldn't change it's frame rate, but rather the display just wouldn't output all of the frames given to it. So imo, this counter is completely irrelevant

    Fantastic video, congratulations!!... At long last, someone who understands a mobile phone IS NOT a camera, that there are many areas that are more important and should be considered in reviews. Lately it´s all about cameras, something that both manufacturers are pushing in a bet to justify insane prices and reviewers are happily onboard with. It is a ridiculous trend that I hope ends soon, something that results in what this video cleverly states in the beginning: there is negative vibe around a fantastic phone simply because the cameras where not quite up to the hype.

    • @MegaNayton
      @MegaNayton 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Completely agree on this can't see why people want top photo quality when in everyday use they probably don't even use the camera at all. These youtube tech reviews all seem to focus on camera. Now I'm no photo expert my self but I just wouldn't look for a tech reviewer to tell me if a camera is good because how do we know he's even telling the truth and is using optimised settings for the scene he or she is shooting. Now as for the software and what's actually in side the phone the ONEPlus 9 Pro seems to have very good specs and for the money isn't to bad compared to other top flagship phones on the market

    • @brunocondemi1570
      @brunocondemi1570 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes. the camera is secondary. important things are battery life, charging, phone speed, ease of use, the smart assistant that actually get you information, unlocking the phone quick, etc... camera is just a feature.

    I've had the 7 Pro for the past 2 years, what a fantastic phone. The popup camera is a fantastic feature and I see no reason to upgrade any time soon! All for about $800 bucks, and it performs the same as a flagship phone, albeit maybe the camera quality isn't quite as good (but at this point, unless you're a photographer, who really cares?)

    I went from a Samsung Note 20 Ultra to the OnePlus 9 pro and the op is hands down a better phone. Other then not having a S pen anymore, there is not a single downside to the op. Great work on the objective review! I came across your channel as I was looking for recent reviews of the OnePlus 9 Pro and seeing how you approached this phone two weeks in, you did justice to it by thoroughly observing its strength and areas that can still be improved.
    I honestly think that OnePlus is justified in pressing the promotions on their Hasselblad partnership considering that this is only the first iteration borne out of that. Their is much room for them to prove that they can really improve on their camera department and I am honestly hopeful for it. If it is already good at this point, I can only imagine how much better their Color Science could get in the coming years.

    Thanks for the video. As for the price, OnePlus phones are always getting super heavy discounts very quickly. OP9 Pro has had a "normal" price of 699 EUR here for the past couple of months with a couple of "expensive" bumps. I'm waiting for it to drop to 599 EUR until I buy it... unless OP10 will be significantly better, which I doubt.

    Thanks for the review. But with this price point, there are other better option with better cameras to choose from. I know hasselblad camera are wonderful, but it will take some time before they truly finetune the camera to compete with the big guys like Samsung or Apple.. maybe after few more years of collaboration. Until then, they should have keep the price at reasonable level in order to built consumer confidence & get more people to try out their phone.

    The bad press surrounded this phone is not because of its camera quality, the camera actually very good or the hardware which is easily tip top flagship grade. But the competition has improved quite tremendously especially in the very top dollar segment. Phone like S21 Ultra, iPhone 12 Pro Max and even the Find X3 Pro from sister company Oppo offers better overall camera experience than 9 Pro. The higher price of this year phone didn't help either. Not to mention the crazy hype OnePlus spewed before the launch and they talked about the partnership for big chunk of minutes during the launch event too. They really want everyone to believe that they've finally created the best smartphone camera in the world this time which turned out not. Now I see phone like S21 Ultra deal can be had closer to 9 Pro, there's almost no reason not to pick the former over the latter. My 2 cents.
    Anyway great video as always, Mark. Btw I think the lowest 1Hz refresh rate probably will be used during always on display mode (AOD).

    The problem I have with the bbk family phones is they don't get rid of the dark spots or shadows in the pictures. They instead make it darker. For example if you to take a picture of a tree with plenty leaves, or flowers, the areas that are in the shadows will turn dark instead of exposing them properly. Black or dark spots become darker, that is what I hate in camera.

    Another strengh: It does not have any app that cannot be uninstalled that track your location. I was choosing between a Samsung and 1+. Samsung has an app that track your location and you cannot uninstall it and you cannon disable the tracking feature.

    Thanks!!! Thanks for not just "bashing" Oneplus! So many other TH-camrs have videos of mostly complaining about the phone, I'm a big fan of oneplus and oxygenOS I want to see them win!!! My wife and I had bought phones at the same time hers was a Galaxy S9 and me a OP 6T, after almost 3yrs with those phones my OP was still fast and battery life was still good, hers slowed down and apps would crash a few times a day. Long story short, OP life span is phenomenal!!!!

    Ha ha. I'm a bit late here. But I must say that I really appreciate a tech-TH-camr that actually have a own opinion about a product. During the time it was obvious that people copied their ideas from others. Now 9 months later we have Android 12 and the camera software has been updated a couple of times. Still a great phone and now with 10 pro coming out you can buy 9pro from like 650$ here in Sweden. Buy! 😊😊😊

      I have the same pine green, so I have a question, what makes you like OP 9pro over S21ultra? So many other videos keep putting the S21ULTRA way above the 9pro and I can't see how that's possible, this is a solid phone. Price is a bit up there and speakers could be better but other than that I am in love with it!!!
